We have been coming here for a long time. They have indoor seating again and the staff is the same. We waited at front area for approximately ten minutes, without even being greeted. Restaurant was not extremely busy.Whoever the young man is that always wears white and only answers phone, walks around cleaning tables, and then finally greeting guests, needs to be retrained on what customer service means. He finally sat us, but did not ask us for anything to drink. Our waitress ( Melissa) was busy delivering a large order to a table. She dropped off water/ chips to a table right across from us, but did not acknowledge us. Another ten minutes goes by, when she finally returned to ask other table for their order. She then turned to us asking, " did anyone take your drink order?" I said no. She proceeded to take our entire order at this point. The owner ( very nice) needs to have the staff work as a team and not just their assigned areas. We will not be back until they are able to provide services that are consistent with industry standards. read more

Man oh Man Melissa our waitress was the best. Our first night out and she treated us perfectly despite challenging conditions and times. The hostess also a taller young lady was superb checking on a table within the states current health regulations and guidelines. Melissa made our drinks within eye sight and asked if she could make the guacamole in the back kitchen. We assured her we trusted her. She was extra careful with everything but never awkward. Angle Christine and Brian hovered around each other with their masks off completely or on just covering their chins or mouths. Universally the three of them left their noses out if they wore their masks at all. They did fidget with their faces and masks constantly. We hope they get better training. The food was also great the prices good the seating crazy bad to the point of comical but no one was hurt by the low seats. It gave my husband a tall man a competitive advantage he could see the food the two of us shared. So he thought it was brilliant. Lots of customers fellows out with a chin held high looked about for push back on their lack of masks with the swagger of defiance. I can't help but think I would want others to protect my kids well they tried to earn a buck and or some skills. Everyone working at the restaurant seemed young just the other side of kids, some really looked young maybe still in high school. I hope they learn to be careful of themselves and others. Straight to the point- Food: I ordered the chimichanga beef and it was served with pico de gallo, guacamole, and sour cream in little disposable plastic cups. The chimichanga itself looked okay if not a bit on the small side compared to what I've had elsewhere. It tasted good but it wasn't spectacular. I'd say it was pretty average though presentation needs some work (the disposables just made it look sad) and the pico de gallo needs help (it didn't look/taste very fresh). Service: Our server was polite, got the orders correct, and kept up with water, chips and salsa. Not spectacular but on par. We ordered for a party of six and everything was absolutely delicious and flavorful. Their guacamole was fresh and homemade, not watered down and runny like some other places. The only reason I'm not giving a fifth star is because I had ordered some shrimp ceviche and it was so salty that I couldn't even eat it. So I thought this was the 'new' best place in town for Mexican food and had been coming here often. Recently, higher prices, lower quality. The Last time in I ordered a shredded beef tostada salad to go. We got home, took it out and it looked like someone took a dump in the box, tossed some shredded lettuce on it with a little scoop of sour cream for effect, no pico, guacomole, tomatos. Took it back to them and asked for our money back. The girl was snotty and said we didn't have a receipt, after we had just been there. She got the "manager" and this guy couldn't even cough up an apology for us having to drive back down there, because they screwed us. Absolute best spot in Tehachapi! Food is great and reasonably priced, the beer is cold, pretty waitresses and bartenders are super nice, they have a good lunch buffet. We were in Tehachapi briefly today and stopped in for lunch around 12:30pm (Saturday). The dining room was open with about 4 or 5 tables occupied and a few people in the bar. We were immediately seated and service was fast. Ordered a salmon plate for my kids to share and they had a large portion of fish, rice, and veggies (pretty healthy!)! I ordered a chicken and rice dish called, "arros con pollo". It was so yummy!!! They layered peppers, onions, and squash with rice, chicken, and cheese and put some type of mild enchilada sauce on it. I could only eat half, it was a generous portion but took the rest home. My daughter ordered the Enchilada Blanca and it was ok but she didn't eat much of it. My hubby had a tostada that he said was not that special but he ate anyway. This is the first time for me to write a Negative review!! Normally, if I have a problem at a business, I can talk with the manager and let them know what happened. Today I called and asked to speak with the manager. I was asked my name and then after a few min I was told that the manager was not in. I then asked for the person in charge and after waiting on hold for a few min I hung up and drove in. When I walked in the manager was sitting in the dinning room and I walked up to him to speak with him for a moment. Before I had barely started talking, he told me that he was not working. I told him that I had called and also asked for the person in charge and he interrupted me several times to say he was watching a game on tv. I turned around to leave and then turned around again. I said that all I had wanted was a couple min to speak with him because on several occasions I had called an order in and taken it home to find that it was not as ordered. I just wanted to make sure we could get our order as we wanted. He just looked at me and said nothing at that point. I told him that it was sad that he was loosing business because he could not take a couple min. I told my neighbor about this and he said that he had talked to a couple of the waitresses and they said this manager was also rude to them. Too bad that someone like this is in charge! read more

The chips were nearly perfect (warm, light and salty) and my burrito was delicious (shredded beef that was expertly prepared). Ordered a wet burrito, the beef tasted old, bland, and I found myself feeling like I was chewing rubber... Well I have to say it was terrible. My sister order carne asda tacos. They were delivered to her with the taco holder on top of most the rice. The tacos were plain just a tortilla and meat. My sister asked for some pico and it was brought. Fast forward to the check! They charged for the pico! It was mostly onion! My husband and I have been here many times and it was good. WILL NEVER RETURN!!!! This used to be my favorite place to eat Mexican food here in town. Now you can't pay me to eat here. I was in here about 1 month ago and it was about 2pm not busy at all. I think there may have been 2 more tables with 2 customers per table. Our server took 15 mins to ask us for drinks, came back and got them wrong completely. My husband was hungery and will eat anything. So he was not to irritated. Mine is another story. After trying to choke down the wrong dinner I only ate 10% and couldn't go any further. I told my server what the problem was and she looked at me and blamed it all on the cook. She said he must of read her ticket wrong. Well she didn't write our order down at all. So I assumed she forgot our order with in 3 ft. of leaving our table. she did not offer to fix the mistake and walked away. Our drinks sat there empty for a while. My husband had finished his meal and I was waiting for him to finish. I couldn't choke down anymore of my wrong horrible meal. the manager/owner walked by and asked how our meal was. I then explained the issues as before he was to busy to come to the table as he was at the bar chatting with some very pretty young lady's. he offered to remake it and I have him detailed instructions if the issues and what to be fixed. 15 mins later he arrives with the wrong meal again in a Togo box. I was upset and just paid and wanted out of there. the food was very rubbery and burned my hand cause it burned through the Togo container, it was microwaved. They have affordable lunch specials and okay chips and salsa. There was nothing about this meal that stood out to me, or that was very good, OR bad. I got a chile verde burrito and the pork was fairly soft (from being stewed/slow cooked) but overall, it just had absolutely no flavor. It wasn't necessarily bad, but it definitely wasn't good either. This was a very flat, "meh" meal. I don't even remember what my husband ordered, but he felt the same way about his food. For mexican food in Tehachapi, I wouldn't really recommend going here. There are better, similarly priced places in town. read more

Ordered meals were 2 Shrimp Enchilada plates (including MY meal), Enchiladas Suiza, Shrimp fajitas, Carnitas Enchiladas, Enchilada Del Mar, and a 3 item combo that included Chile relleno (Hubby's favorite.) EVERYONE raged, 3 in group are regulars, all ordered meal they've NOT had before. My shrimp enchiladas were best I've had, including versions I've had IN MEXICO. Plump shrimp, peppers, mushrooms, in queso blanco sauce! DEVINE! There WILL be a fight for the leftovers! My Husband cleaned his plate, then stated (jokingly), " I don't like mine, I'd like to order what she's having!" A SPECIAL treat I've "perfected" over years is Chile relleno, they are HIS favorite. He will ALWAYS order. He RAVED about this item, so I KNOW they were good! Honestly said, we'd drive 5 hours AGAIN for this meal. So I've sworn, when we DO come back, I will ONLY dine here! Surprisingly bad when compared with overall reviews. On the positive side, the staff were very, very polite and the service was speedy. Really great chips and salsa. But the food... Oy! No bueno. To start, our guacamole was brown and obviously not freshly prepared. The rice was overcooked and bland..the beans: under seasoned... The taco: not terrible... My husband's tamale:dry...The margaritas: helped by the Cazadores tequila we requested, but made with a mix (sigh) and certainly not helped by a dry lime wedge covered in brown spots adorning the rim of my glass.
