The green sauce was tasty too, although more peppery and less creamy than other versions I've had. The plantains were fried thoroughly and crispy on the edges. Portions were more generous than expected. The ceviche comes with different seafood combos. The fish was very fresh and tender. Octopus was solid. Shrimp was a tad overcooked but still enjoyed it. Can I just say WOW. I order the empanadas with a side of their "green" sauce and phenomenal. The sauce is a bit spicy but sooo flavorful. We had a great experience in this location even though their menu is a bit smaller than the location on the UWS, they had available exactly what we were looking for, we had the lomo saltado, 1/4 rotisserie chicken and the fish ceviche. Everything was delicious. Our server was very attentive and friendly. Would definitely come back again or order delivery from the restaurant since they offer delivery directly through them, which can be more convenient if f you are trying to save some bucks for all the delivery apps fees. I really like Pio Pio. The Matador combo hits the spot every time! We went almost as soon as they opened on a Friday for lunch and I knew that there would be more than enough food for the three of us with the Matador combo. This is the third location of Pio Pio that I've eaten at and the consistency among the restaurants is impressive. The chicken is so tasty and really everything is very flavorful, even the rice and beans. The portions are excellent too and it's served family style. At lunch, they also have a quarter chicken special with a house salad, side of your choice, and drink for $13 (Juanita's chicken). Known for simple, but flavorful, peruvian food, Pio Pio is fast and won't break the bank. When my Spanish friend who knows about Pio Pio he was so excited because he went to Pio Pio in Queens and he had great experience with the food and service. This location is a small place with (not ready vibes) looks like just open for few day. The ambiance isn't look good and only some painting on the wall. If you're looking for tender, flavorful, dream worthy roast chicken, look no further. Pio Pio is a true winner. If you're looking to feed a group, consider the Matador or Peruvian combo. Both come with fries and avocado salad but the Matador also comes with rice and beans, salchipapa instead of regular fries (added pieces of hot dog, sounds weird but it's good!) and tostones. Avocado salad - delicious and simple- ripe avocado, tomato, radish, carrot, celery, onion and iceberg. The dressing is yummy, I think it has garlic. Chicken- so flavorful! It is marinated and somehow it isn't dry. Sangria- you can get a glass ($10), half pitcher ($20) or full pitcher ($42). I recommend the half or full pitcher since it's a better value. I like that they fill the pitcher with wine and give you glasses with the ice so the pitcher isn't full of ice. I'm a big fan of Pio Pio and recommend you check it out! read more

I'm not sure how the arroz chaufa is Peruvian style because it tastes like any other fried rice but it was delicious. The Matador Combo was the ideal order as it came with a main plus multiple side dishes and salad. The combo included Juanita's rotisserie chicken which was tender and fell off the bone. I've been coming to this place for years and years now. And nbot a single time has the chicken tasted any different nor anything less than AMAZING!!! Other dishes I'm not big on, but the chicken makes up for everything else. I've had the lomo and the empanadas and I always ended in what seems will be my go to for the end of time - Juanita's Chicken, Yucca Fries and Avocado Salad. You will never ever go wrong with this selection. Their green spicy sauce is also and absolutely wonderful complement to the fries. This is the one things that does vary in taste ... sometimes more or less spicy, but always good. The service is good. Servers are pleasant enough and have never had a reason to complain. As for the ambiance ... it's a small location, when compared to the other Pio Pio's, but it's nice. And they redid the bathroom and it's a normal sized bathroom which is most definitely a plus. read more
