I had passed this Don Pollo Peruvian chicken spot a few times and finally went in. The restaurant is really nice inside and the staff was very friendly. Since this was my first time getting takeout they explained what some of the sides were and gave me some recommendations on what to order for the family. The chicken had great flavor but the white meat was slightly dry (my family and I prefer dark meat). For the sides we tried the Corn Pico, Chaufa (Fried Rice), Plantains, and Black Beans and Rice and they were all really good. I was surprised at the amount of food that we got for the "Fiesta for 4" family meal. Overall the experience and food was really good and I will definitely be back.

I love some Peruvian Chicken, along with the delicious sides that accommodate it, so my friend and I decided to grab takeout here at the Don Pollo in Bethesda! I've popped into this store a couple times for lunch or early dinner, and it's usually pretty busy, so the service does their best to power through the lunch rush. In my box, I got the chicken with my two favorite sides: Yuca and sweet plantains, and they were absolutely delicious, especially when combined with the sauces they provide. The chicken itself is also pretty tasty, well seasoned but a bit dry in some parts, not a deal breaker by any means, just needed to lather it up with some more sauce.

Two words: yuca fries. Ordered takeout from Don pollo: - ceviche de mariscos (3.5/5) - chaufa de mariscos (4/5) - side of yuca (5/5) - plantains (4.5/5) - bean pico (3/5) -tres leches. (5/5) The portions are very big, we definitely had leftovers after. Make sure to wash it all down with an Inca Cola! Also if you don't eat chicken, they have some great alternatives and sides to choose from. I would be happy to order from here again.

1.5 stars. Even though this place seems to serve pretty authentic Peruvian food, the quality of everything is pretty average. The customer service, however, is terrible. We walked in and I asked the lady up front some questions in regards to how they cook their food. She was very rude and gave me terrible attitude. At the end of our conversation I ordered the Lomo Saltado. She charged me $3 more than what was stated on their menu. I asked her about this and she said they haven't updated their menus. Ok w/e. I waited 25 minutes for my meal. Man it took a while. While the food looked good, presentation wise, it was, again, average. It came with fries and for some reason they put the beef mixed in with the fries. They were soggy afff. These would have been pretty delicious but they were wet. It was kind of gross. The beef wasn't too bad. It just didn't have enough flavor to it to call it amazing. I like that they gave a lot though. I ate everything in my meal except for the fries. They made me lose some of my appetite. I won't be coming back. I can't deal with their costumer facing workers. Also, food isn't good enough for me to come back. If you value the same things then don't bother coming.

Oof. Got takeout for dinner from this location and started to feel sick about halfway through my meal. I went to throw the remainder of my food out and found a short black hair in the corn pico. Needless to say, I won't be ordering from here again.

Pollo Saltado being made with personal touch to it. Must have.

Pollo Saltado and Manager David's service with attention to detail about customer's ask will make this business a huge success. I Highly recommend this place because of this authenticate taste and cleanileaa.

It was my worst meal, during my meal I found a hair in my food. And I ordered mash potato and it tasted like garlic. Disappointing. Please see the pictures

Gross. Save your money, nasty chicken, dry rice and beans. I'll stick with the best around and that's Crisp and Juicy.

Nothing special. The best is Crisp & Juicy, nobody comes close to their chicken, and the sauces are amazing.

The paella is a huge portion that honestly could feed 2 people. Service is also quick and the staff check on their diners for beverage refills and experience. I also ordered their passion fruit mojito for any alcohol drinkers. You can barely taste the alcohol in it. I wouldn't say it is a formal restaurant at all but could potentially you could come in slightly more formal for a date night. It is definitely family friendly and there's plenty of seating.

The menu has a decent number of options, not too overwhelming, however definitely suggest waiting to hear about the specials as there are many and none are on the menu. We ended up ordering the Ossobuco, Duck Breast, and Grilled Trout (all specials). Ossobuco: Super flavorful, very tender, comes with a rich silky sauce that you'll want to mix all of your rice with (comes with a side of white rice). Highly recommend! Duck Breast: Came in a cast iron pot over rice (almost like a paella) and a side of marinated red onion. Our server suggested mixing the onions into the rice which was a good move. I did wish there was more duck to rice, because the amount of rice it comes with is huge compared with the two pieces of duck which didn't have much meat on them. The rice quickly became the star of the dish, and I'd still recommend it even if you don't get much duck because of the rice. We ended up not even eating much of our white rice because of how good this rice was! The crispy bits at the bottom were excellent! Grilled Trout: Good, although nothing mindblowing. But definitely good to have a lighter, healthier dish to balance out everything else we ordered. The fish was flaky and cooked well. They brought out alfajores (Peruvian cookie) with a candle and sang happy birthday for my dad which was nice. Very sweet caramel filling on the inside and although not my type of dessert, it was very unique. Kind of surprised that it was both me and David's first time here after hearing about it for so long, and definitely a place we would visit again!

So, I was like hey why not grab something to eat and have a fun beverage. For my meal, I went with the Taco platter, which included two tacos (chicken or beef), beans & rice, and a small salad. Of course, I washed that down with a passion fruit margarita. With tax and tip, I think my meal was about $30 bucks. Although the price was not crazy expensive, I thought it was up there based on other places in the area. Overall, I will say that taste-wise my meal was fine - not amazing, but not horrible. I did appreciate that the restaurant provided plenty of sauces to add some heat to the tacos and beans + rice. The restaurant is a bit small with about eight tables; however, it appeared that most folks there were picking up orders rather than dining in. The cashier and server (the same person) was very nice and had a lot of patience because it took me a while to finally decide what I wanted to eat. Although my meal and margarita were fine, I do not think that I would venture too far out of my way (more than 20+ minutes by car) to specifically dine here. However, if I need to kill some and have a craving for a margarita while waiting for my dog to finish his grooming appt, I would drop by again.
