I came here on a Saturday night with a group of five and was glad to see that we were able to park right in front of the restaurant in their complimentary parking. We were seated right away in a booth, and our waitress was nice and had a sense of humor. We ordered a couple different dishes to share amongst us. We also ordered a couple of pitchers of sangria, which was very good and had its own unique taste. The waitress recommended their version of pina colada and we loved it. For our entrees, we had ordered 2 full chickens, and the Arroze Chaufa, which is a Peruvian fried rice with beef, chicken, and shrimp. This rice had amazing flavor, especially with their special Peruvian hot sauce. Don't forget to ask for this sauce! It's amazing with the chicken, as well. For our sides we had ordered yucas fritas, which is fried cassava, and maduros (sweet plantains). We cleaned out every dish and enjoyed every bite. For dessert, I recommend tres leches cake. Overall, I enjoyed the experience here and I definitely recommend it to anyone who likes great, home cooked food. The food was great, the staff was friendly and gave great recommendations. This place is good, they give a great amount of food . My partner , mother and I went and got two orders of Chaufa, and one order of maduro. We ate and had enough to take home. One of my favorite restaurants family owned , small and cozy. the service comes from a warm and friendly staff. My favorite waitress in particular is Erica; she is so sweet and she always makes wise suggestions for costumers. the jalea ; which is a fried seafood platter is to die for. it consist of shrimp , calamari and fish as well as yuca fritas which are fried pieces of cassava. the chicken is pretty good; its well seasoned and it pairs well with the chaufa which is peruvian fried rice. 5 stars for don pollo!!! read more

With the name Don pollo, i was expecting a place that specialized in chicken and few Peruvian entrees, but as we were seated we were given a large menu and were given an explanation of various specialities that had nothing to do with pollo.. However The place was overall nice the food was Very good and service was good also. After visiting many other restaurants that serve pollo a la brasa, this place had Nothing that really stood out for me in order to make a name for itself. The food was just the way mom makes it. Stopped here while waiting for work to be done on my car a few blocks away. My buddy is VERY critical of where he eats and was nervous about going in because of how it looked outside. Don Pollo has a cozy feel in regards to both its food and atmosphere. The dining area's decor and seating felt inviting for a nice and comfortable sit-down meal. It appears there is also an outdoor dining area, which would be nice to take advantage of when the weather is warmer. We had the Combo Don Pollo, which consisted of a whole chicken, a salad, fries with sliced hot dogs, fried rice and fried plantains. The chicken was an absolute delight. It was cooked just to the right degree, leaving the meat tasting very juicy, and not dry, which is often the case at many restaurants. My one caveat was that some portions of the chicken were a bit salty, otherwise the rest was fine. The chicken was also served with two great sauces (one mild, one spicy)--a nice compliment to the plain chicken, which was great by itself already. The sides were pretty large portions. Everything tasted very fresh, especially the salad. I'm not a big fan of plantains, but these were worth a try at least for me. Finally, coming from a habitual Asian rice-consumer, I must say that the Peruvian fried rice is quite good. All in all, the combo is actually quite a lot of food for the money. It was shared between two people and we were barely able to finish everything. The service was friendly and attentive; we were welcomed as soon as we stepped in the door. Stingy Manager!! Horrible service!! They don't take debit card over the phone. So they directed me to order online. I placed a $30 order at 12pm. I live 5 min from this business. At 12:45pm I still hadn't received the food so I called to make sure they received the order. The manager claimed she hadn't even checked the online system so she hung up on me. (Very rudely) I call back five mins later and she tells me she didn't get the order. (You would think she'd call me back to let me know) So I wait for her to find it, it finally appears... I ask nicely for her to send an extra rice and beans for the inconvenience. She said "absolutely not" she was very rude. After going back and forth on how to run a business we hang up at 1:30pm. The first time they pulled the "it's out for delivery" spiel but then asked us to list everything we ordered again anyway. Our food showed up thirty minutes later. Hmmm. The second time, we called after our food was 20+ minutes late again. First they said we didn't order, then they said that we ordered too late. We pointed out that we have a receipt showing that we ordered 40 minutes before they claimed we did, they insisted that they didn't receive our order until too late. This is a great new addition to Ozone Park! Great stick-to-the- ribs food! I just live the Jalea dish for 2 . It is a huge platter like dish of fried sea food with red onions marinated in lemon juice. Must have the Tres leches cake for desert! Not sweet just right! Staff Is very pleasant . Wow so delicious. Honestly some of the best chicken I've ever had. Would 10/10 eat here again when I'm in the area. I had the roasted chicken, beans and rice, flan and side salad. The chicken was incredibly flavorful, the beans and rice were so yummy, and the flan was one of the best that I've had in NYC. We have frequented this restaurant several times in the past year-year 1/2. The service has never been anything to be remembered, but we (my family and I) came here Friday at 11:30am for the last time. After standing around for about 5-8 mins without acknowledgement the young lady proceeds to seet us. Good thing we speak Spanish because she was having a lot of trouble explaining that there was nothing ready at this time. The website clearly states that they open at 11am. We ordered drinks" but the manager (or the person that seemed like he was running the place) seemed to have an issue or attitude that he had customers waiting. My husband asked him if there was a problem after noticing side glances toward us and he responded with "there's nothing ready!". The food was amazing!! Lots of choices. We just had our family get together (26 people, large group with kids). We made reservations just the day before and they were able to accommodate us all. The weather was perfect so we got to sit outside. The inside of the restaurant is small and cozy not sure if it would've fit us all. Susy was very on top of everything and we got all our food on time. The waitress was also very attentive and nice. We are definitely coming back to taste some of the other dishes.
