Had lunch here today with some coworkers. It was hot outside, like 85? It was just as hot inside the restaurant, we were all sweating. The ambiance in here is non-existent, if I wanted to try this place again, I would probably order it to go. You order/pay at the counter and they call out your food to pick up when it's ready. They gave each of us a small bag of tortilla chips and let us choose our own salsa. Salsas are prepackaged in plastic containers sitting on ice. I went with their green salsa and it was really good, not too spicy. The chips were fresh, but towards the end of the bag they were too salty. I had one fish taco and one shrimp taco, it was $11. They put way too much cabbage slaw on it, with the protein on top. I ended up removing at least 1/2 of the cabbage to be able to pick the tacos up. Flavor wise it was good, they put tartar sauce on the tacos. I don't know what kind of fish it was, but it was seasoned well. I enjoyed the flavor of both tacos. One of my coworkers got a torta, it was massive and she took the 2nd half home for dinner. Another coworker got one carne asada taco, it was quite big, she said it was good but the meat was kind of dry. Not sure what my other coworker got, but her side of beans looked yummy. I'm open to ordering takeout from here and trying something different, but dining in left something to be desired. read more

Ordered red sauce chilaquiles and they gave us a green sauce l and charged us for steak added that we did not order. Called and they had no response but said they didnt have red sauce, that should have been told to us over the phone. Only ordered 2 things, not sure how you get that wrong. read more

This place never disappoints. The wet burrito with carnitas and the red sauce is amazing. It's actually to good because I get stuffed eating and finishing this monster burrito. Knowing I should stop and save some for later is really hard. Every bite you go mmmmm so good. Also love the hot sauce red or green on the side. read more

If you're looking for home made Mexican food this is a mom & pops friendly little place but sooo good! The salsas are spicy and good the Birria tacos are delicious, also the tacos al pastor! The Chilaquiles are a good & great portion The Menudo is next for me, it looks good. The service great and in a timely manner! read more

I went on the Saturday before Labor Day, and it was very friendly and welcoming as I walked in. Just the owner and his cook, I'm assuming his wife, were very nice to me and I got birria tacos. Maybe I just need to get something different, and the birria tacos are very different from regular ones, but I didn't enjoy them all too much. I actually just finished the leftovers I had that I bought, its not so bad that I refuse to eat it, but I would just get something different next time. The presentation of the food looks exactly like the pictures, and Ive been looking for a mexican place around Anaheim cause there really aren't that many. The meat tasted kind of weird, but its Labor Day, and I'm also just really weird and specific about how things taste. so maybe others would like it. Onions and cilantro were great, and it was cooked well. Unfortunately, the consommé that comes with it was really sweet! Some others would like this, but I don't like beef meat or stock to be sweet. It tastes like there was a ton of cinnamon inside. I also got beans and rice, while the rice tasted fine, the beans were very sour. I didn't mind it actually, but every bite had my mouth salivating like when I eat sour candy. Really weird experience, but kind of tasty! I plan to go back someday and just get regular tacos and horchata, but this is a good heads up. read more

This is my first time here and my order was pretty simple but I can tell if a place cares by a bean and cheese burrito. This was creamy, toothsome, cheesy and rich. The tortilla was fresh and tasted homemade. I also tried the Machaca breakfast burrito. It was like the best scramble I've ever fresh pico de gallo and peppers and onions grilled up had with savory shredded beef all wrapped in an amazing fresh tortilla. Finally, and this is the kicker for me, they make their own fresh tortilla chips! Delicious. Do not be fooled by a low rating. This is my ne Mexican place. read more

I don't know why this place doesn't have great reviews. My husband just went and got my hungover self some pozole and..... it was amazing!!!!! I live in Yorba Linda and it's hard finding something that isn't bland, authentic or a fast food chain! The pozole was super hot (temp) so taking it togo was perfect. Came to this little hole in the wall today since I'm always passing by it. When I open the door to get in I noticed there was a lot of people that come here during lunch time. I looked up at the menu on their wall and notice they have a lot of options. I found a picture of their bistec encebollado that look delicioso, so I went ahead and order it! When I started eating my bistec encebollado it tasted very good something my mom would cook for me at home! They also give you chips with salsa. The chips and salsa weren't the best. Nice people that work there, but this is rich people Mexican food, of course I'm speaking as a 2nd generation Californian, born and raised here, so I can tell the difference between real Mexican food and Anaheim Hills adjacent Mexican food. Know what I mean? Like everything is on the side, that way they give you minimal portions; fries and taquitos obviously frozen food; no refried beans on the Asada Fries. What? I still can't find any mexican food that matches san diego style restaurants. This is a traditional kind of mexican food spot right by Stater Bros. The staff were super nice and I ordered a wet el pastor burrito to go (I'm a wet burrito junkie). The burrito was HUGE, usually the burritos at most spots I go to are decent size but this one completely filled me up. Rice was a little dry but not bad and the burrito had a lot of flavor. It wasn't packed with el pastor but you can't expect much for 10 bucks. It came with a small bag of chips but they forgot my green salsa I asked for. It was clean inside but unfortunately you cannot eat inside there as of 10/11/20 do to covid regulations. Still I'll be back, its local and was delicious. read more

My husband and I are on a "support local business" kick, and so we decided to give this place a try. The service alone warranted 4 stars from me, but the food only got a 3. I ordered the 2 Cheese Enchiladas plate and a hard chicken taco, and my husband ordered the Al Pastor burrito. The sauce that the enchiladas came with was delicious - you can tell they actually took the time to make it rather than pour it straight from a can. The rice and beans were pretty good, but nothing to write home about (btw, I always put a squeeze of lime on my beans whenever I get a meal like this, you should try it - it's great that way!). The chicken taco didn't have too much flavor, but the shell was really crunchy and good. Just add some of their yummy (although watery - dig towards the bottom) pico de gallo from their salsa bar, and you're good to go. My husband loved the Al Pastor meat - he said it was tender, had a nice flavor, and was probably one of the best Al Pastor burritos he's ever had. We'll probably go again, but that's 'cause we live in the area. I don't think I'd make a special trip out here if I lived further away. read more

I am giving this place a two. It is hard to describe what was good and what wasn't good about this place. I ordered 3 carne asada tacos and a carne asada burrito. The meat had a different, smoky flavor to it, not a bad taste, but definitely didn't taste like carne asada, not to mention the meat was extremely dry. Sadly this is my first really bad review. I really want to like this place because I live very close, but I had some overly nuked nachos from them the other night and I just can't go back. I was being really lazy and decided not to drive the extra 3 miles to a reliable mexican joint in Placentia and I regretted it. I also could have made the nachos better myself. I think why I'm so disappointed in this place is that no one is ever in there when I have gone 3 times now and it seems like they don't care about the food they serve. Seems like, in this economy, if you want return customers you'd put some love into it. I only come here because it is the only close-by Mexican food near my job. I personally think this place is over-priced for the quality of the food. I purchased a hard shell pastor taco for $2.67. There was barley any meat in it and the shell is so crunchy it just falls apart in one bite. I ended up eating it like a tostada. Not to mention I cut the inside of my mouth. The salsa is great if you like it watery. Their green and red chile isn't half bad though. I also ordered their chicken enchiladas. Not bad but not great. I wasn't informed they poor sour cream all over the enchiladas. I hate sour cream so I appreciate when restaurants ask if you would like guac or sour cream on your food when your order it. I had a relative at the Kaiser hospital and we were starving, the food at the hospital didn't look very tasty. After looking on yelp, I found this place that my dad would like. He only eats Mexican food, yes...only Mexican food. It was close to the hospital and the food seemed decent. The restaurant could use a little cleaning, there were a lot of dishes piled up by the trash can waiting to be taken to the back. We ordered at the register and the cashier was super nice and asked if we had any questions. My dad ordered the asada with rice and beans, and I ordered pozole. We took my nephew and got him into one of the two available baby chairs. It was missing one strap and the other seat was missing the buckle, I had to wipe it down since it needed a good scrubbing. The food comes out and my dad really liked his steak and my pozole just didn't look right. It was a bit greasy and the hominy didn't taste very fresh and the meat was all stringy. I knew that I shouldn't have eaten it, I was so hungry that I did. My stomach was hurting for days from all the grease. read more

This might've been a fluke visit. Thought I haven't been here before, wifey raved of their delicious chili verde. I tried to keep the hype to a minimum, and when the dish came sadly I was disappointed. Rice could've been cooked longer, refried beans were tasteless with an off-putting consistency, the pork just horrible. I usually assume chili verde is a stewed pork dish...the plate handed to me looked like fried/dry pork doused in green sauce at the last minute. 2 fried eggs came with dish, that was above the only thing that came out decent.
