    Chile relleno lunch special
    Terri G.

We decided to stop here for lunch, after running a few errands and wanting Mexican food. The restaurant is easy to find with decent parking and right off Tamiami Trail. We were seated quickly and had chips and salsa on the table in no time. Our server came over to take our lunch order and we expected to eat soon, unfortunately, lunch was slow in arriving. The restaurant was not very busy, but the wait was long. Food wise, the chips and salsa had a nice flavor and our lunch was good. They have a variety of options like Molcajete, Carnitas, Camarones A La Diabla and a variety of dinner salads, kids menu, and lunch specials. We went with the very reasonably priced lunch menu and my chili relleno was flavorful, while hubs liked the lunch tacos. This restaurant is clean with a pleasant staff, but we waited at least fifteen minutes for the check. Both of us were waving and trying to get the attention of our server or another staff member, but they never looked over. We noticed at one point, that that our server was busy mixing drinks behind the bar, so they must have been short handed for that shift. I asked for a bag to take the chips home and another server bought out a fresh bag of chips from the kitchen. This nice gesture made up for waiting so long to get the check. Overall, lunch at Don Tequila was a nice experience and they do make good Mexican food. We'd be happy to return.

Tacos Dinner - Al Pastor (comes with three tacos, a sauced rice and beans)

Good food, large portions, friendly and quick service. The dining area is spacious and clean with room at the bar for seating as well. My family enjoyed the Al pastor tacos, red sauce enchiladas, and nachos. The beans and rice that come with most entrees is seasoned and cooked beautifully-- some of the most flavorful rice and beans I've had. I had the flautas and was impressed with the flavor of the carnitas flautas with a decadent cheese sauce. The chicken was a tad dry and bland and the iceberg lettuce and tomato chunks seemed a bit odd. If there was an additional salsa I think it would've been more enjoyable for flavor and to avoid dryness.

Very authentic atmosphere and food. Definitely can tell good quality Mexican- enjoyed a start of salsa and chips with enchilada dishes and quesadillas. Service was nice and quick and food was good. Recommend

Dined here early last evening. EARLY is important because until 6 pm there is BOGO Happy Hour: so TWO Small Margaritas for $8.99, TWO glasses of house wine for $7.50, also small draft beer BOGO. Ambiance is pleasant, festive. Juliana was our very attentive server. We started with Guacamole Salad $9.99 quite good. We were not even half finished with this when our entrees arrived (too quick). For main course, we had Tacos (3) Pescado $19.95 and Fish Veracruz $20.99. Everything was muy bueno and large portions. So, I recommend this eatery and if you drink alcohol, go before 6 pm for Happy Hour BOGO.

Wow just thinking back to my delicious meal and our time here as I write this review already made me want to go back! This restaurant is located in a small plaza, a decent amount of free parking. We didn't need reservations and were seated right away on a Wednesday afternoon around dinner time. Our server Juliana, was very friendly and helpful when we had questions regarding the menu. Everyone was very happy with their meals which included the carne asada, chicken burrito, steak fajitas, and chicken enchiladas.. they give you a good decent amount of food so we had some leftovers. For drinks we really enjoyed their margaritas that are buy one get one free, we had their medium size which I thought was more than enough. I enjoyed the mexican decor throughout the restaurant, big booth and tables. They also had Spanish music playing which makes the atmosphere more pleasant. The food is great and worth the price. I will be coming back for some more very soon!

It was a lovely place for some pretty good Mexican food. It was quiet but it was around noon when I went. The service was quick and to the point. It looks like they had a great group of regulars and I see why. It is consistent. The only thing I didn't like was the view and it was of the parking lot. I guess it all depends where you are seated. All in all it's not bad Mexican food. The taste is there and the people are friendly so I'm not mad about it.

We love this spot for authentic Mexican food. Great margaritas, chips, salsa, tacos and burritos. We wanted to save room for their flan...but couldn't finish our delicious dinners. Next time!

What A Great Place! As were driving down the street towards…read morethe Naples Botanical Garden, we passed a brewery and next to it was this small Mexican restaurant. How perfect. After our nature visit, we could stop for a beverage, then get a late lunch next door. Well let me tell you, this is legit authentic Mexican. We walked over from the brewery next door. There's a patio out front with tables and umbrellas, but it was scorchingly hot and we wanted to sit inside. Not too many tables as it's small, but one opened up for the three of us. A very polite server provided menus and took our drink orders. My daughter and I both had Micheladas. You can select what beer you want in the mix. I had Modelo Negro, my daughter selected Modelo Especial. My wife had a bottle of water. No tap water here, you need to buy the bottle. We studied the menu trying to decide what to get. Everything we could see others eating looked great and tacos seemed to be the popular meal. Our Micheladas came out and these were festive. Large mugs, rimmed with a pretty zippy tahin and pepper blend, filled with the beer and a slightly spicy tomato juice mix. Very flavorful. A something new for us was the addition of a tamarind straw. It's a plastic straw, covered with a sweet spicy tamarind blend. They actually call it candy. You use it to stir your drink and then nibble on the candy. What a great fun thing to add to a drink. By the way, the Michelada was excellent. I enjoyed licking the tajin seasoned rim with each sip, just like a salted rim on a margarita. Still studying the menu, we ordered the Choriqueso appetizer. The basket came out with fresh fried corn tortilla chips and a bowl of queso cheese with chorizo sausage crumbled into it. Runnier than most cheese dips we're used to, but enjoyable nonetheless. Finally we ordered our meals. Al Pastor Tacos for my wife, Chorizo and Steak Tacos and Quesabirria Quesadilla for my daughter and Caldo de Camaron for myself. In just a few minutes, our delights were delivered and the feast began. All of the meats in the tacos and quesadilla were excellent. Great flavors and no skimping on the meats. Onions, cilantro and self squeezed lime punched up the flavors. The quesabirria come with an au jus style dipping sauce that was perfect. My shrimp soup was spectacular. Easily shareable, but I accepted the challenge to eat this myself. Served with numerous warm tortillas, chopped onions, cilantro and lime, I put it all in. A very light yet flavorful broth and as the pic shows, loaded with flavorful shrimp. I enjoyed every spoonful. A wonderful soup. As with most authentic Mexican restaurants, you are made to feel that \you are their guest. They will never make you feel that you've overstayed and if you want your check, you just go to the register at the counter. Looking forward to our next trip there.

My wife and I had been here before & it was wonderful so it pains me to write this review; friendly, cheerful waitress, great service & the food was delicious. Not so much this time. It was crowded but we got a table right away. It took about 15 minutes for our drink order to come out, but it was kinda busy. After about another half hour, one of our four meals came out; then it was crickets. Our waitress never came back to the table; no one else made eye contact with us. We saw at least a dozen meals delivered to tables after we got our one meal, but no other meals or contact with us. After 20 minutes of waiting for the other 3 meals we cut our losses and went to the counter and asked for the bill. A man (appeared to be the owner) brought the bill out & offered a half hearted apology but no offer to comp us for the drinks (it looks like they did not charge for the meal we got). I realize things happen, but had this man (manager?) just apologized for what happened & told us that we owed nothing I honestly would have been ok with it and not even taken the time to write this review. However that wasn't the case. Like I said, our previous experience was great, so here's my recommendation: If they are not busy I'd suppose you will have a great experience; if busy you might want to pass...

We only wanted a variety of apps so she gave some good suggestions. She was attentive and efficient. The food she suggested: elote, very good! We did get the guac and chips too to use the chips with the elote. That was the problem. The guac was somewhat tasteless, but the chips were very bad. They tasted like they were made in old rancid oil and they make them onsite. They even smelled like old oil. We let her know and she brought a new batch. Still tasted bad. We suggested her to try them and she did and agreed they were not up to par. I felt the grease even coated my tongue. The cornbread was excellent. Because the chips were so bad we got the guac and rest of the elote to go so we can eat at home with some good chips. We got the bill and even though they agreed they weren't as good as normal they still charged us for everything. That is a problem. She should have had them take them off the bill. We still tipped 18% but that isn't good when they don't make it right. We may give them another chance but still charging males that less likely for sure.
