Service here really drags everything else that could possibly be back. This is my second time here, the first a couple years ago when I lived in the area, and after getting poor service for drinks with a friend, I said I wouldn't come back. Fast forward to two years later and my new job puts me up close to this place, and having not seen it on this trip, I ended up planning to come in for lunch, and by the time I got to the door figured why not give it a chance as I had my heart set in Mexican. I got a couple tacos which were $11 for two tacos- I got pork belly, and thank god I'm typing this, because I don't think I can talk after the work out I got chewing the tough and dry pork. Of anything to be dry, pork belly with all it fat should be last on the list. If cooked properly to start with on a raise, it should have been falling apart and full of flavor from the braising liquid and fat. None of that was here, and though the menu says the tacos come with salsa, there wasn't any of that either to dowse the dryness in. I'm also shocked that sitting at the bar they don't serve chips and salsa. This may be the new way of faux high end joints, but I assure you this isn't even close. My bartender never came back to check on me until I was done for several minutes. He disappeared after I got my food, much like the 5 minutes I waited to get greeted when no one was at the bar. To top it off, the tipping suggestions on the bill start and 20%, and go to 25. This seems a little ambitious for somewhere that clearly is more concerned with being trendy than it is about food quality and service. If they had even decent staff, I'd have no problem tipping in or above this guideline, but I'm not rewarding terrible service with above average tipping because I'm too lazy to do math myself. 1/2 price Taco Tuesday is LIT!!!!! But please warn people when your out of flour tortillas, corn tortillas are the worst. I've only had tacos here. House tequila is the worst but it's only $7ish bucks. Give bartender Hannah and there is an Asian chick as well (did not get her name when we went there before) and the back crew a raise! We recently hosted a large corporate happy hour for our employees at Don Tito. We rented out the restaurant and bars to accommodate almost 500 guests. The service and staff are exceptional. My friend invited me after she was offered free brunch after having a hard time waiting in line one night at Don Tito. Our group did not show up all it once and they didn't even make a big deal about it like other places. The waitress (the beautiful only black waitress) served us patiently for 3 hours as we went through the ENTIRE menu. They food was absolutely delicious and timely. I loved the experience. The classic brunch drinks may be better then their speciality cocktails, those were a bit TOO strong. Beside that the rest of the brunch was great, they are accommodating, patient, and know how to make you feel comfortable. Definitely recommend it for brunch. read more

Epitomizes the Clarendon/Arlington vibes. Mostly 20-somethings. Known for their rooftop and tacos, they don't disappoint. The drink specials during happy hour and for football games are pretty good. You can get a Miller Lite draft for $3 during games. The tacos are pretty good. Definitely not the best i've ever had, but i lived in Texas for the last 5 years so i'm a little biased. We went around 6pm on a Wednesday and sat in their downstairs area (the rooftop was available for seating but it seemed too cold for that). It wasn't crowded; no wait. We got the steak nachos - super good! We also got a peach and mango margaritas; both good. The nachos were forgotten. Waited about another 20/25 minutes for that. Let our final person eat. Then Asked for our check. Another 15 min wait where we could see all the servers standing chatting at the bar. We had to ask several times for the check. Scott, I appreciate the response. I recently gave Don Tito another try. I ordered the guacamole & chips to start, which is labeled gluten free on the menu. Given my past experience I told the waitress I had an allergy and needed GF chips. It seemed unnecessary since the menu was clear about both the guac & chips being GF, but I figured better safe than sorry. The waitress came back awhile later and informed me that Don Tito's chips aren't GF (kudos to her for double checking, otherwise I would have gotten sick again) and offered me carrots & celery. I don't know why Don Tito is continuing to advertise a menu item as being gluten free when it isn't. Or why they aren't providing GF chips when they're readily & cheaply available; corn is GF. I eat out & order in frequently, travel freely, navigate language barriers abroad when it comes to my allergy, I even regularly order GF pizza from Domino's without issue. Don Tito is the only place that has ever been problematic. I don't necessarily expect restaurants to cater to my allergy. I think it makes good business sense to do so given the prevalence of the allergy, but if a restaurant can't or won't provide options that's their prerogative, I simply expect them to be straightforward about it. It's not okay to advertise something as being GF when you know it isn't, that's knowingly & unnecessarily risking making people sick. As a side note, as other reviewers have noted, the bathrooms were filthy, which added to the negative experience. Not getting sick from the food or bathroom is a low bar for a restaurant, especially in an area with so many options. I love the rooftop and hate giving anyone 1 star, especially since I can't imagine running a restaurant is easy, but Don Tito has had so many opportunities to get this right. read more

Don Tito is by far the best bar in the DC/Arlington area. Went this past weekend and cannot even begin to describe the intensity. My buddy and I went right to the roof and within 10 minutes were buying shots with newly made friends. The crowd is both fun and intense, the way a good party should be.The drinks were strong and the music was EPIC. Before leaving I even bought one of the Snapback's and proudly wore it out of the bar. Don Tito is on another level. I am excited to go back for a HH now and try out the food. read more

I've been to Don Tito twice more in the late afternoon. I like the place even more. This time on 4/16/15 at about 6:30pm the rooftop 3rd level bar was open and happening. This is a great little Mexican place, but very crowded! I went with a group of about 10 people so I cannot blame them for not being able to accommodate us at a table since it is a very small space. We all just hung out at the bar for the majority of the time and really enjoyed it. They have daily HH specials and the day we went (Friday) they had $5 margaritas ($6 flavored margaritas) which I was very pleased with since I love me some tequila! They also had tall mugs of domestic beers for $6 among other specials. Food-wise they had about 10 apps listed from $5-$8. I got the enchiladas and they were delish! I also tried the crab croquettes and they were yummy as well. They have 3 levels-the 1st two are seated and then the top level is an outdoor bar area that is first come first serve I can't wait to go back and check out when it gets warmer. Our bartender (Shelly) was AWESOME! She was super nice and on top of everything-I never felt like I had to wait long to get a drink, which is is feat when a place is crowded. Went for some drinks on a Saturday night and the place was packed! We (a group of 5) were luckily able to get a booth, however we made it there just as the DJ was setting up. Once he was started we had to scream at each other to carry on conversation. Our ears were ringing when we left! Definitely a 20something crowd spot. This is my favorite bar in Arlington! The margaritas are excellent. And when it's nice out the roof top is superb. What makes this bar my favorite: Half off taco Tuesday, $5 margaritas during happy hour, the avocado tacos, the great bar scene, and the various types of tequila! One thing that you might worry about at this bar is that the menu does change. They used to have portabella mushroom tacos that were to die for and when I saw they weren't on the menu anymore I almost had a fissy fit but this is when gave the avocado tacos a try. I visited with a group of my girlfriends over Christmas Break and wow, Don Titos is amazing. Our bartender Matt was phenomenal. The bar was packed but we never had to wait for anything. He was attentive and always there for us. It was great to see the group of bartenders flowing like a team. This was not our first time to Don Titos but I will definitely be back just to look out for Matt. When you go out a lot you quickly narrow down your top few places to bring friends, customers, family visiting. He's the only bartender I'm certain will take care of us in a professional and prompt manner. Our visit was one of the best times I've had out in Arlington. Let me start off by saying that I work at a restaurant, so I don't usually get angry with a server or anything because usually I know how stressful it can be. But if I could give this restaurant 0 stars I would. So I went to Don Tito 04/04/17 for taco Tuesdays (I've heard great things about it and decided to try it out). I was there with 5 other people and we had called ahead. Once we arrived only half of the people got sat due to a phone call I got and had to deal with, but that's not the point. Once everything was dealt with I went upstairs where the rest of the group was sat and didn't get greeted after sitting down. 15 minutes had passed by and the server finally came. She didn't introduce herself nor asked us what we wanted to drink. She just dropped of a drink and left. After ANOTHER 20 mins or so, she finally came by to check how we were, so we all decided to at least get some drinks. After that one of my friends had asked if we could get a chair or get another table, Bc we were sat in a pretty tight spot. She said and I quote "no we don't do that" so we kinda looked at each other and were like .... ok? I guess we'll make it work. KEEP IN MIND WE STILL HAD NOT ORDERED. She then left and didn't come back until I actually had to get her attention. At this point she had left our table without asking if we were ready to order or anything. So I kind of kept my eye on her to see if she was too busy, or something. But instead found her talking to the hosts and other servers. At this point I was fuming. I was hungry and annoyed. Once I got her attention I told her we were ready to order and she said ok. And so I began, I ordered, 2 surf and turf tacos, the empanadas, and the pork belly QUESADILLA. Then I continued to tell her that this was gonna be split checks, only to have her respond " we don't do that". So then I was kind of confused and asked if they really don't do split checks, and she said "no I can't do that, I don't remember what everyone got individually".. so I said okay well then we can tell you what we got, and she said " how about I bring you the check and you guys figure it out" and then left. EVEN THOUGH she had not taken the rest of the order from my friends. At this point MY FRIENDS were annoyed and decided not to order any food, nor do I think she cared. Once the food I ordered came out, we got 2 surf and turf tacos, the empanadas, and the pork belly TACOS, not quesadilla. My boyfriend was so hungry that he didn't care. We figured if it took us this long to order something small, we're def not gonna try and reorder or fix the mistakes on our meals. So ate and then I had to get her attention again to get the check, to which I HAD TO REWRITE AND SEPARATE for her. So technically I DID HER JOB FOR HER. You're welcome Debora M. And I do hope that is the correct name, but to describe her, she had a half shaved head, and long hair. I will definitely never come back to this place and would not suggest to go here. Kind of a ripoff. The experience could've definitely been better if the service didn't suck as bad, she could've easily sold more food, if she had just taken my friends orders, but didn't. read more

We stopped in a Don Titos while visiting our family in Arlington. The food and drinks were incredible. HOWEVER - We had the worst server I've ever encountered. Kimberly was not only rude, but rarely checked on us. She didn't smile even once. On top of that, we received our app and food (brought by someone else) before our drinks. At the end, our checks were completely wrong and she basically said, "you figure it out." I'd recommend eating here, if you can avoid her section. Otherwise, it's not worth it. read more

I have been to don titos multiple times and was excited to show my boyfriend the restaurant. It was not a good experience at all for him. The food was good and the staff was good. We were enjoying a quiet evening on the rooftop when all the sudden music started blaring CRAZY loud. It was not a fun experience. My boyfriend is a veteran and is sensitive to loud noise. I begged the wait staff to turn it down. I noticed I wasn't the only one who was upset by the noise. Multiple people were plugging their ears and asking the wait staff the same thing. This restaurant should take into account if people want a quieter place to sit WITH the view and not just have the first floor the quietest. I had a gift card I used and would like to say I would be back but probably never again. If they can't accommodate people who are sensitive to loud noises (including veterans), I can't support their business. read more

I've come here several times for happy hour! Definitely recommend trying the surf and turf tacos on Tuesdays (1/2 off tacos)! Drinks are always well made. Never watered down and very high quality. The ambiance is very chill. Also note that though they have a DJ on Fridays--no one dances. You just stand, listen, talk and drink. read more

Came here for happy hour with some friends. The service was great and there was plenty of seating to chose from. We were on the roof and it did get quite crowded so keep that in mind and get there early. Holy guacamole- theirs was spicy and delicious. I really only drank, but took a few bites from a friend's dish and it was amazing. Only complaints- music could have been better and bathrooms were dirty. It was pretty hot outside so maybe some fans or shade. Just an idea. Loved this place though. read more

I called Don Tito this past Saturday morning to make a reservation for the Skins game. I was told by the hostess that they do not accept reservations on Saturdays. So we just crossed our fingers and showed up about an hour before the game started. When we got there, there were a few large tables (which is what we needed) that were "reserved" and that we couldn't have. I asked how they had been reserved, and the hostess told me "Oh you can go online and reserve tables on opentable"...don't you think the hostess on the phone should have told me that when I called in the morning?? We put our name on a waitlist, which they assured me would be a 20-30 minute wait. Almost TWO hours later, we were STILL waiting, and the tables that had been reserved were STILL empty. We complained to the manager who was on duty, and props to him for saving the night! (And this yelp review.) (The manager also told us that you can't even reserve tables on opentable, and that he had no idea how these other people had reserved tables.) Within 10 minutes we were seated at a table right in front of a tv, and we had the best night ever watching the game. What a great place to watch a Redskins game - I especially loved the Hail to the Redskins song being blared after every touchdown! We stayed well past the end of the game, and everyone had a great time. I am still confused whether Don Tito accepts reservations on the weekend, but I highly recommend calling AND checking opentable before giving up on a reservation. read more

One of my favorite places in Clarendon area. Couple great points: They work late (2am), have an awesome rooftop, and prices are great (especially if you get here for happy hour. Some things to consider: too loud during happy hours, Friday and Saturday nights. Not very comfortable for large groups to sit together. Food is great, but they have removed mango chicken taco from their taco menu and refuse to bring back, that makes me sad. It was phenomenal! read more
