Went to the Museum of Fine Arts and decided to pop into Pistolero's afterwards. On Thursdays they have a green chili burger deal for $9 and my husband enjoyed it. Nice chill place with a good bit of seating either inside or outside. Me and my friend sat on the patio one random Wednesday night, and it was packed! They are located right next to another taco place, but it was empty.. which makes me want to try the place because I can me missing out lol! Anywho... There's a parking lot with a good bit of spots, but not enough for the crowd that was there on Wednesday. We did circle both lots twice, before we were able to get a spot right when a couple was leaving. The prices are unbeatable during happy hour! The nachos are to die for and MASSIVE for $7. All the appetizers are awesome. And I genuinely avoid tex-mex as a restaurant genre. The margaritas? Incredibly strong. And cheap! I got a mango one and was drunk by the end of dinner. Will definitely be back as the service was fast and it wasn't too busy when we went. There is an expanded lot that is providing some relief parking spits until the taco place is finished being built. But once it opens it up it will continue the struggle. There is valet parking though. Anyrate they offer a full menu but I came on their taco Tuesday which was pretty clutch. And they have happy hour as well. I stopped here for a breather while walking along the streets of Montrose. I kinda wish I would have kept walking, if I'm being honest. Why? I don't have much to say about this place, because I didn't bother to order anything else after my appetizer, but I do have a story for you. I ordered some chips and queso, right?! The waitress brought it over and I was dying to dig in. The chips were cold and the cheese was barely warm. I still took a bite, only to realize it didn't have the best taste. Great place to go on a Tuesday for the $1.50 tacos and happy hour! Tacos were delicious! Portobello was surprisingly seasoned well and delicious for all my vegetarians out there and mushroom lovers! I cannot say enough good things about Pistoleros so I'll let it speak for itself when you go. What I will say is that they currently hold the title for my favorite frozen strawberry margarita. I'm actually thinking about having one as I type this. They finally have their own parking lot! I remember when we used to have to park on the side streets and pray that your car would be there when you came back. So a classic Houston happy hour spot and great taco tuesday deals! Its right in the heart of Montrose so street parking is available if you're willing to walk and brave potential Houston head/humidity. This is a very casual, kind of rustic bar that def gets popular for happy hour and taco tuesday. Even though it was crowded, service was great the whole time. Things may slow down but everyone tries to get to you and resolve any misunderstandings. Food wise, I took part of taco tuesday and got basically all the options that sounded good to me. Most tacos were admittedly meh, the carnitas ones felt a bit dry but for $1.50, I could not complain. My favorite was the fish taco, fish was very crisp and light and def could have eaten like 5 of just those. Will definitely be looking forward to my return here. So Pistoleros is a spot that a friend recommended and thank God he did because I loved it! Loved the music they were playing definitely aided in setting the vibe. Also heads up they offer valet so parking may or may not be something you want to be considerate of. Service was pretty impeccable. I can't believe I'm writing this because it is about a Mexican restaurant in Texas of all states in the United States but this is probably hands-down the worst Mexican restaurant experience I've ever had in terms of the food. I found this place on TikTok and based off what people said about it, it seems like a good place to go for taco Tuesday. In terms of the ambience it was I would say OK. I will say they played good music but outside of that there was really not much special about the ambience to me. My drinks were decent. Definitely not bad but nothing amazing. I will say the best part of my experience is that our server was extremely Nice Very friendly, helpful and approachable. However ultimately I came here for the food and you are here reading a review from me to learn more about their food and their food was terrible. We ordered chips and queso as our appetizer which to me is not that hard to mess up, but for some reason, the chips here were literally cold as soon as they brought them out to us. Like they weren't even lukewarm they actually felt almost chilled, which I thought was very strange because I'm used to chips being warm when you first get them. I brought it to our server's attention and she simply explained in some way that that's just how they make them like I guess they make a big batch of chips and just serve from the big batch regardless of how cold they have gotten since they were prepared because she essentially said without saying it that that's just how it is. She offered to basically cancel it off of our check and I guess take them back which to me wasn't the solution I was looking for... I wanted them to be heated up or to just get a fresh batch of chips which she made it seem like that wasn't possible. The queso was also decent but not as good as I would say your average Mexican restaurants queso is either, but it wasn't bad. It was just decent. I ordered for my entrée the burrito and that was even worse than the chips and queso. I noticed that it had a spinach tortilla instead of I guess like a regular tortilla and when it came out, it basically had spinach inside of a tortilla and I think that may have added to why I didn't like it, but even outside of that it was basically flavorless. There was hardly any taste to it or a great amount of seasoning and I ordered it with beef I guess thinking it would be ground beef, but I looked on the menu and saw they didn't specify that it would be ground but either way the beef was just not giving... it literally was tasteless. That literally may have been the worst burrito I have ever had so on top of the chips being cold my entrée was also not good and the fact that the server couldn't even offer a solution that to me made the most sense for the chips was just disappointing and a really bad experience. If you are new here, you will find that I'm not a fan of anything that is remotely divey. So I was being judgy when I walked up on Cinco De Mayo and there was a lot going on outside. But, this is Houston and Houston is different. Parking was challenging, but we were able to find something not too far away. There was a little wait for a table, but we were seated promptly at the end of our wait time. It was a really fun time on Cinco De Mayo. Lots of dancing, people dressed up, etc. We were served a complimentary round of water, which had what appeared to be Tajin in it. We asked our server if we could get new water and she directed us to where we could get the water our selves. Nice. However, without asking we got a new server and she was excellent. I had the cauliflower tacos. They were good. The cauliflower was roasted and the accompanying spices were very tasty. They paired well with the many shots of Tequilla we had, lol. The frozen house margaritas are so good! I've tried strawberry and original but I really love the strawberry one! I've had the chicken enchiladas here (very delicious), the nachos loaded with meat (amazing), chicken fajita ( very delicious) and I've had the street tacos here too (very good)! I discovered the happy hour at pistolero is what last week and on the phone the lady told me if I made it by midnight I would get honored it I made it there 2 minutes till midnight didn't have to pay for valet it was kind of fool but the food was great and gratuity was added so excited this week I come back I get here and it's almost totally full except for valet and the valet has seven or eight spots open and the guy says that I have to pay $10 I told him last week I didn't and there was all the spots over there cuz I just park cuz I'm trying to make it by the time for the ends and he said no so I had to pay I go in there 6 minutes until midnight the lady at the desk at the front said I have to order at the bar there was no waitress is there waiters so I get there and the guy hands me some menu that says $12 for chips and I said that I made it before midnight 6 minutes till I want to get the deal that I got last time for tacos in the lady told me if I made it on time they would honor it with only 2 minutes that still 6 minutes he said sorry they closed down the kitchen very rude it seemed like he didn't really want to do anything but charge me full price and was more worried about the drinking crowd I drove across town to make it and made it on time gas not cheap I was hungry and excited to eat it and also diabetic so needed the food start myself to eat these tacos and then get turned away I think it was very crappy had to pay for parking and just turned away with a cold shoulder it was not like that last time they should honor what they say read more

Great spot for happy hour. I loved that there was valet service which didn't charge you ridiculous prices (they work on tips). I highly recommend the red sangria. First time visiting. The place is a cool spot. I ordered nachos expecting cheese sauce not melted cheese. I didn't complain I just ordered a side of yellow cheese queso to pour on top, which came out quick. They were pretty good and the portion size was nice. The customer service was good. My disappointment are the drinks. Everything has too much syrup instead of alcohol. The margaritas on the rocks as well as the frozen are very weak and I'm not a heavy drinker but you can't taste any alcohol. The 3 of my friends and I all felt the same. They had to order tequila shots to add to their drinks. The Mexican candy shot also wasn'the right color due to the syrup. We watched the bartender make the drinks for two shots and he literally put a drop( count to 1) of alcohol in the mixing glass to cover 2 shots and the other part was already premixed. This is not the place if you are looking for good drinks. If you drink beer then you are fine. We would have stayed longer and spent more money with buying more food and drinks. We left and went up the street to another spot just to buy good drinks. The food is good. The parking was easy. I parked in the taco which is for both places. I got the Milagros skinny for the same price and it was delicious. We shared the 4 tacos for $17, which was a lot of food as the tacos came with lots of meat in each one. Cute story: I met my best friends at Pistolero's I decided randomly to go out for tacos on a Tuesday and picked Pistos. I went by myself, sat at the corner seat at the bar, ordered food, and got some drinks. I started to talk to the people beside me (or they started to talk to me) and took shots together, had fun! While this is happing a girl comes to sit next to me also on the corner seat at the bar. She joins the conversation and we are all laughing, drinking, have a good time. A guy came and sat next to her. He also joins the conversation and now we are the only people at this bar (it's like 12am now) just laughing having the best time. To cut that story short, the girl and the guy that sat in those seats next to me have been my best friends every since and I get to see them every single Tuesday usually also at Pistolero's.
