Fried chicken entree with macaroni and green beans. The drink was a cosmo martini.

To start off the food wasn't bad at all. It could have been better but it also could have been worse. I've had other southern comfort soul food places in Houston and I would probably choose them before Jordyn's. I will say the lamb chops were delicious. The customer service could be a lot better. It took 5+ mins just for me and my friend to get acknowledged and seated because the hostess wasn't in the front which was confusing because the place was pretty empty. Also be prepared for the taxes, gratuity and the "service fees" they will add to your check. My bill went from $35 to $44 with the extra fees.

    THREE POT ROAST EMPANADAS

What drew me to Jordyn's Soul Cafe was a food review featuring their famous oxtails and mac & cheese and let me tell you, it was worth it. The Three Pot Roast Empanadas were so filling and flavorful I wanted more. But, I needed to save room for the full course. Instead of ordering the Oxtails and Mac & Cheese, because even though I wanted it, who needs all that cheese right now, lol, I ordered the Oxtails entree and added a side of Collard Greens and Candied Yams and that did it for me. However, I was a little disappointed that the oxtails and the crab meat in the fried rice were salty. Such a shame. The atmosphere was booming in the best way. Good R&B playing while everyone eats, drinks, and vibes. They also offer Hookah, but only in a certain section of the restaurant. So if you want the full experience, definitely make a reservation. Parking is valet only from what I can see and it's $10, but it seems the most convenient option for the area.

    BEEF SHORT RIBS

You ever had some food so good it make you want to slap yo mama? This'll do it! Jordyn's soul cafe is expensive, sometimes they have crazy wait times, and I've even heard that the service isn't all that good...BUT this review ain't about none of that. The food is to die for-FLAT OUT! And if I'm being completely honest, I've been here before and left because I sat at a table for 30 mins before and never had a server come to my table, but knowing what I know now I SHOULDVE STAYED!!! lol I had the beef short ribs with gravy, rice, and greens. If I would've died while eating it I would've already been in heaven. That food is good, the beef was so tender it melt on the fork, the bones were basically there for decorations the way they slid out with ease. Even the fat was good. The portion is so generous I got full there, took it home, ate some more and got full again. I ordered the waffle ice cream sandwich for my son and we tore that up too. lol couldn't even get a picture of it. My server was extremely sweet too. She made sure we were okay and gave an excellent recommendation on those beef short ribs. I don't care what they say about Jordyn's I know the truth, and the truth is that this food so good it'll make you want to slap yo mama!

This was the end to my birthday weekend. My wife asked where did i want to go for dinner to cap off my bday calibration since today was my actual birthday. I'd been seeing this place on the gram and decided this is where I wanted to go. We made reservations as suggested and arrived a little after our time but were still seated promptly as there weren't busy (yet). Upon entering the establishment is nice and quaint. Real cozy and elegant ambience. Our waitress came promptly and took our drink orders and patiently explained the menu and answered all of our questions. Now I'll start with the cons because there aren't many. 1. Parking. For the amount of money you're going to spend the $10 you have to pay for parking seems a bit much. 2. The pricing is a little high compared to other places with the same dishes. 3. And last, for them to have jusy opened a couple of hours before we arrived, they were out of the the first couple of things we wanted to order and a couple that we didn't. Now to the food.. a little over priced as it my it was worth EVERY penny. We started with the fried green tomatoes and pot roast empanadas. Tomatoes were meh.. but the empanadas were amazing. My oxtail pizza was amazing. I mean it was down right delicious. Oxtail were so tender and flavorful. Crust was thin and crispy just how I like it. Sauce was lite and super rich to overpower the flavor of the oxtail. There was meat in every bite and it was perfectly cheesy. My wife ordered the beef short ribs and they were fall-off-the-bone tender and full of flavor and the Mac great. My mother ordered the oxtail plate with yams and greens and our friend ordered the smothered chicken and both were equally pleased with there dishes. My wife and I finished with the peach cobbler which comes with a scoop of ice-cream and it also was good, not amazingly good but good. All-in-all we will definitely return.

This has been on my list for a while and I finally made it! Right off back i have to start with 4 stars because I hate to park where I have to pay knowing the amount im about to spend lots of money just to eat. Its 10 dollars to valet. We walked in and were greeted. It was a nice atmosphere. The music was good but a little loud.. but jamming. The service started off cool but slowed down mid visit. Had to ask for a couple of things a few times but eventually got it. Now the food.. everything was good and everything came out smoking. That macaroni was on point. Those salmon eggrolls were amazing. I mean everything tasted great. My Hennessey drink was strong and good. I will be back.

    LAMB CHOPS

Randomly drove by & noticed this establishment some weeks ago & then coincidently we decided to dine here for lunch on a Thursday, it also happened to be during their happy hour. Right off the bat, the service was nice & there was plenty of room for seating (3 dining spaces, all 3 different vibes). We sat in the main dining area. The music was greatttt (r&b, soul) and not too loud (IYKYK). Now let me just say, the menu is stacked with options! The indecisiveness was working in full overtime but finally we settled on a range of items. For appetizers: Spicy Buffalo wings Jerk Shrimp Taco Entree: Southern Smothered Red Snapper Jerk Lamb Chops Entrees come with 2 sides each so we got: Mash potatoes Broccolini Mac and cheese Rice & Peas Everything listed above was at least an 8.5/10. Would recommend everything The stars of the show however: smothered snapper (if you're okay with a whole fish & don't mind the bones), Mac & cheese & jerk shrimp tacos !! Things to be mindful of: parking probably isn't fun during evenings & weekends. Thankfully at the time we went we could easily self-park in the parking lot but by the time we left around 5:30 the lot had already turned to 'valet only'. Lastly, depending on your entree + side choice the salt content may be a little on the high side. Mash & broccolini were great choices for neutralized the salt from the main entrees we got. Nevertheless, very yummy experience. Would go again & would recommend going (esp on a weekday afternoon lol).

I was really disappointed with the service here. Let's start with the food... Greens: the greens were seasoned well, however they were missing acidity. Some vinegar would've been good in them. Cornbread: the cornbread was cakey, and had good flavor. Love is: A cocktail with tequila and raspberry liquor.. delicious! The service is what made me bring my rating down to a 3. The waiter was almost nonexistent .. they forgot to bring us waters to the table, we ordered a second round of drinks, and never received them, and it wasn't very hospitable. There's an automatic 20% gratuity, but my visit did not even deserve that. Plus beware, there's only valet parking, which is $10.

I had a wonderful dining experience at Jordyn's. Our waitress was super sweet and gave good recommendation from the menu. Food came out fresh with big portions. I did not care for the "sweet corn" because it was not sweet and only peppery. The waitress was so kind enough to offer to swap me out for sweet potatoes which were bomb!! I will be returning soon! I highly recommend making a reservation.

Our group was looking for a soul food place for dinner and found Jordyn's. We arrived a little late for our reservation but still made it and was seated. The staff was fairly nice. We ordered deviled eggs, soul rolls, oxtails, smothered chicken, fried fish, yams, Mac and cheese, greens and rice and peas. To be honest the food was 5/10. The flavor on the food wasn't what we thought it was going to be. The restaurant had good music, hookah and vibes.

Valet parking available for $10 Parking is extremely limited Jordyn's hails from Chicago! This new American based categorized as soul food from content I've witness. To me it's more homemade creations, and seafood options that impressed me the most. I've visited here twice and I love the eggrolls stuff with spaghetti, ( I've ordered this twice), and crab fried rice that was full of flavor and a little spice which taste very nice! My second visit when you order the spaghetti eggrolls to go, they come uncut. Love DJ IS PRESENT as before playing the smooth R&B hits old and new which I greatly appreciate the blend mix

Dined yesterday evening before the dinner rush. Everything we had was good from the lemonade and salmon Alfredo eggrolls to the smothered chicken , mac, mash and greens!! We decided to share as we weren't going to be able to take any left overs. The rnb playing was just hit after hit. Creating a relaxed vibe as we enjoyed our meal. Can't forget the cornbread, warm and moist with just the right amount of sweetness. So good we got one to go. I did take a banana pudding to go this was the only time that seemed over priced. It was rather small for $11. Everything was tasty and didn't take too long to come out so not sure about the other reviews. I really think the overall rating should be higher. I will be back with friends since I got in trouble for coming without them lol. Parking is pretty much valet unless you want to walk from further away. Will try alcoholic beverage next go round. *20% gratuity automatically charged *employees convo can be heard in dining room

Ambiance was nice .. not crowded at all . The wait was a little long but not bad. The food was 5/10.. a bit salty. Hot wings were good but really small and the smothered chicken was good but not enough gravy and wing were small Catfish was cool , yams too mushy and Mac was dry .. The jolly rancher drink wasn't All that but we wanted to try it We were charged extra but the corrected it . Overall check it out . From my hometown so we gave it a shot .

Being a Midwest gal I love supporting fellow Midwestern folk. The owners are from Chicago and being a Michigan gal it was only right to check them out. They are locate in a nice area close to the museum district. They do offer valet parking for $10. There is parking in the neighborhood but it's very limited. When you walk in the ambiance is very nice seating at the bar, outside for your bigger groups. They offer hookah, our waitress was very nice and helpful. Now let's get to the fun part. Mamma Mojito - great taste mojito with the taste of Hennessy. Gummie bear drinks- definitely a nice kick, but a little too sweet for me. Wings - they were a little too salty for me but they were not too spicy. I like my wings a little more crunchy. The brunch menu as a little to limit the grits had a good taste but it was more grits than the protein. I like that the menu was open and you can order other than brunch. Fried green tomatoes were good, but the sauce was okay, but for me in could skip the sauce. Devil eggs - to sweet for my taste buds Soul Rolls-the Mac and cheese with candy yams were good. Never would have thought of that as an egg roll. Roast beef empanadas- for me those were great. Not skimpy on the meet and the seasoning and taste was definitely on point. I like that they give you good portion of food you will definitely leave with a togo box. The only thing is that they did take a little long with bringing out the main course but the drink and appetizer came fast. That would be the only thing that could improve.

First, the vibe. It is warm, stylish, and very Montrose in the best way. It feels elevated but still relaxed enough to just sit, talk, and enjoy your time without feeling rushed. We came during happy hour and it was such a great deal. I ordered the Sweet Like Peach Tree, which was light, refreshing, and perfectly balanced with the peach and ginger. My husband got the Frozen Paloma and it was just as good, super smooth with the right citrus bite. We also shared the churros and they were honestly a must order. Warm, crispy, and paired with Nutella and caramel. What really made the experience stand out though was our bartender, Manny. He was incredibly welcoming from the moment we sat down, had such a great personality, and made the whole experience feel personal. You can tell he genuinely enjoys what he does, and that kind of service is hard to find. He also told us about their upcoming two year anniversary party on May 3rd with rotating live DJs, which sounds like it will be such a fun time. We will definitely be back. The space was always a nice mix of indoor and outdoor seating, which combined with its dedicated parking lot made this an easy drinking outlet for all kinds of occasions. The intimate indoor space was lovely and well ventilated, and it felt like there wasn't ever a moment where the bar wasn't slammed. The outdoor space was much of the same, with lots of tables and chairs, and even the trendy swing chairs facing the city. The only thing that was a little bit of a liability were those open flame heaters; it would only take on person to accidentally walk into one or trip onto it. For libations, the drinks were well priced, well made, and always potent. I appreciated the aesthetics, as well as the bartenders who made them. The only part that wasn't exciting was the limited food menu, which did its part as munchies for the drink heavy crowd, but was mediocre otherwise. My friends really enjoyed their drinks as well. They have all day happy hour on Sundays/Mondays. We did not get a chance to try the food, but the menu looked great. Overall, a fun spot with great vibes and definitely worth checking out!

I went because this was the only bar open during Labor Day when I had guest visiting. So I would say it's a pretty nice location, considering the fact that it is always consistently open. They had a good menu with different cocktails that were fun and fruity. Otherwise, I did also see people could order coffee at the bar and have different espresso drinks. It looks like the drink that I ordered is also no longer on the menu. The bar prides itself on having a rotating meal changing menu so I think that's a lot of fun when it comes to trying new drinks and new combinations and it truly shows the artistry of the bartender. There was the option of both indoor and outdoor seating. The interior was more of a dimmer, elegant and darker tone. I can see it being pretty classic if you were to go at night time. The bar set up was really beautiful and they had different 2 to 4 seating wooden tables. Overall, the inside would probably only fit around 20 people. I was very sad because we couldn't sit outside. The day before it had rained so every outdoor seating was wet. But I was told that they had a beautiful seating outside with a garden and a pool. Service was good. The bartender came out of the bar to take orders, give menus and give you the check. I will say that it got really busy at the end and it took a while to get our check. There's only one or two bartenders working at one time so if there's multiple people with different drinks that are ordered, it will take a little bit longer. There is both valet parking and also street parking in the neighborhood nearby.

Not hard to find, it's located to the right as you walk in. What brought us here is that it's listed as one of the top 50 bars in Houston in Houstonia Magazine. Service (3/5): While we had a waitress, she was slow to greet us and slow to check up on us. It's a small bar and there isn't a ton of seating so it's not like she was overwhelmed. For a fancy hotel, you expect better. Maybe sitting at the bar is better than sitting at some seats as we did. Ambiance (4/5): The Colombe d'Or is a beautiful hotel and Bar No. 3 reflects that. It's an elegant spot to grab a drink, although small. Food (N/A): While there are expensive items on the menu, I had dinner earlier that night so I was on a liquid diet. Drinks (3/5): Bar No. 3 is known for its cocktails so I focused on the cocktail list. The list isn't large but it features a nice selection. Like the food, you're going to pay a premium. I enjoyed my adult beverage but felt like it was a bit overpriced. Hitting up hotel bars isn't a common occurrence in Houston unless you're a traveler. For Bar No. 3 to be the only hotel bar on Houstonia's top 50 is a feat in itself.
