So, family and I had to come to Lexington for a bouldering competition ( form of rock climbing with no harness). Took our RV down from Chicago and parked in the L'Escalade fitness gym for the night ( the comp was there the next morning). I called Donato's and asked if they would deliver to us, a big white RV, that was parked in the lot. They said yes, as long as we had an address. 30 minutes later we had a pizza. So, now about the pizza and service. Driver was a nice guy and appreciative of the tip. As far as the pizza... coming from Chicago, known for its pizza, we were skeptical. WOW! Were we surprised! Great pizza. Crispy crust, plenty of cheese and other ingredients. Was so good, ordered another the next afternoon for the competitors. Great service, great food and a fantastic price! It's a very thin crust with appropriate amount of cheese and sauce. Although we prefer the crust to be a little crispier this worked. This is a chain with ~200 locations, centered in Ohio. There are some nice innovative elements to the pizza, and it is a tasty product. From highlights to blandlights: * The Quattro Italiano was an enjoyable blend of meats and cheeses, and was a very pretty pizza; it tasted good. * The crust is nice and thin (when you order the thin crust), and the toppings generously cover the crust fully, with basically no outside crust rim. * The toppings were not bursting with flavor, and the sausage bits were a bit dog-food-nuggety in shape, but quality and flavor were solid, if not super exciting. * Ordering and service is fast and efficient, and the room where you are served is just a bit cleaner and snappier in design than standard fast food spots (though lacking in any charm when compared to homier pizzerias); plastic utensils. * The crust has acceptable flavor, but it seems like a prefab cracker; a bit monochrome; I wound up scraping the topping layer off half the pizza and doubling it up onto the other half. I ordered from this place last night and I must say I was very disappointed. I ordered the large hand tossed pizza with spinach and mushrooms. When I first got the pizza I looked at it and loved the presentation. I thought this was going to be one of the best pizzas I had from looks. Once I took a bite of my first piece, I instantly knew this wasn't hand tossed fresh pizza dough. As a chef I know the difference in fresh pizza dough and frozen pizza dough, and unfortunately I received the frozen dough. The pizza tasted like a elementary school pizza. I ate 1 1/2 slices of the pizza and just couldn't finish it. With tip and delivery charge my total came out to $23.99. It was definitely not worth it $23.99. Maybe they just specialize in thin crust because hand tossed just wasn't it. If I come back to Lexington, this would definitely not be a place that I would get pizza from. read more

Usually get good service from this location, tonight, however, was very bad. First it took well over an hour to get the pizza and it was cold and didn't taste very good at all. Secondly driver failed to bring the side salads. Called store and complained and was treated rudely but told that they would send the driver out as soon as he got back, guess that won't be happening now since they closed half an hour ago. Third the driver kept calling me sport, this seems inappropriate and disrespectful. Will be speaking to a manager tomorrow. BTW I've never left a review for bad service if that tells you anything at all about how bad this experience was. read more

It is a little pricey. I have never had a bad experience here. The food is always hot, fresh, and very tasty. They serve pizza, subs and salads. When I was there I had the classic trio with pepperoni, sausage and mushrooms. They use provolone cheese which adds a smokey flavor to the mozzarella. It was delicious. Highly recommend. read more

Very disappointed! First I saw the Hawaiian pizza. I love Hawaiian pizza with mushrooms. So I ordered it. Had no idea their Hawaiian pizza has almonds and cinnamon sugar?? What???? Yuk. First bite I thought they baked it with something else where the cinnamon got on it. So I looked it up on the website and ok my mistake for not reading the fine print, so I went online to look up Hawaiian pizza recipes... well couldn't fine one that had nuts and cinnamon on it. I think you need to name the pizza something different as to not confuse the consumer. I'm more of a savory eater so when the delivery guy delivered the pizza I asked for cheese and red pepper. He had non. I would think that's a automatic with pizza but the few that don't like either he could have just brought it back with him. Then I ordered a salad. I asked for extra cheese. So it came with Provolone, and I added mozzarella, well the salad had all of two tinny slices of tomato and about a small piece. I mean smal of mozzarella and about 3 grated pieces of provolone. Typically great pizza but their customer service is lacking to say the least. Got my order and my pizza was missing all the veggies. I called the store and was transferred to a manager. Told her about the issue and she asked of all the toppings were just under the extra cheese. First off there was no extra cheese but i ignored the fact and told her i had eaten a piece and dissected another looking for the toppings. She then told me they would make another pizza and send it to me but not to eat the one i already had. I didnt feel like waiting another 45 minutes so i asked if they just couldn't discount the one i had. She said no and offered no other solutions. Too pricey for this kind of service. Called them here during the blizzard of late January, 2016. I'm one of the people that love absolute heat, "blazin wings" from wings, but I can appreciate good flavor as well. Donatos has the best "hot" wings traditional that you can get. They're one of the few I'll completely clean the bones on. A little heat, but such a great flavor.
