Vuelve a la Vida cocktail with a side of spicy pico de gallo tostadas and chips made in house fresh
    Peggy G.

3.5 rating! We where greeted after all employees where done with there meeting. Seated after 6mins with smile and courtesy. We order Frida flower alcohol beverage it was surprisingly delicious tequila hibiscus with a brown sugar/caramel rim. My husband had a shrimp cocktail I had the vuelve a la Vida cocktail seafood was fresh had a good flavor with the exception of the overpowering of ketchup in each cocktail. Lastly we shared the molcajete amazing presentation it came with cheese cactus beef fajita chicken fajita chorizo and pork links they also threw in butterfly shrimp charbroiled with a delicious sauce in banana leaf at the bottom to keep all the flavor in. Atmosphere was welcoming music on not too loud not too low which is perfect you don't have to shout to have conversations, it's kid friendly with ampule outside seating games for the kiddos . Large parties welcome. Bar area is super cool decor.

Loved getting a small queso upon arrival with the chips n salsa- that's next level! Service was fantastic and efficient. Great upbeat casual atmosphere. The beef fajitas for lunch was a perfect size and so delicious! The flour tortillas are made just right- not doughy. The beef is tender. I'll be back!

We went to Doneraki last night and everything was much improved. Drinks 5/5, food 5/5, service 5/5. We start off with queso and chips. There is nothing finer than a margarita with some chips & queso! Especially the queso here. It's decadent and savory. Beef fajitas for two, highly recommended. They are well seasoned and cooked perfectly. One of my favorite margarita is the Machorita! Literally a whole party in a mug if you know what I what I mean. I prefer the frozen version. The best adult slushy you'll find. Beer margarita is damn fine too. I'm a fan of flan and ended my meal with one. The service this time was awesome. Our server, Dominique, was friendly and on point with everything. We never had a moment to request anything because she would check in on us to make sure everything was good. She was attentive with us and we noticed, all of her other tables too. It was a busy night and we were impressed how she kept up. This honestly, was the best service we have experienced here. All the employees we came across were amazing. The food was flawless, drink were marvelous and I look forward to coming back.

I'm no stranger to Doneraki, but it was my first time to this location. I stopped by with a group of friends to grab drinks and dinner. Parking 10/10 plenty of space Atmosphere 9/10 Service 7/10 they told us the table was ready, but then we had to wait an additional 10 minutes at the hostess stand to be sat. we sat in a large booth that couldn't fit our entire party, so we asked to move to a table. Which they did, thankfully. Drinks Mexican flag margarita 9/10 Watermelon margarita 7/10 Cherry margarita (byo) 8/10 Build your own 10/10 I made a peach henny & grand marnier margarita. Food: Chips&salsa(complimentary) salsa had a little kick to them. Chips were fresh Flautas 9/10: Everything was fresh and seasoned Mole Enchiladas 10/10 made to perfection super flavorful, and mole was delicious Street tacos 6/10 Nachos 6/10 They have a few photo spots outside, and they also have an in-house photographer. You get 1 free photo per visit, and then you can pay for any extras. Checkout was easy, and they even have mints for you on the way out

We are frequent flyers here. Dom is always our server/bartender and we always look for her when we walk in. She has been taking care of us since our first date night there. So friendly, and top notch service every time! The ambiance is awesome. There is a really nice outdoors area to sit and the bar is nice. They have Sunday brunch buffet that is really good and has some special family recipes we got to try. On date nights we get the fajitas or the Shrimp Botana Mix. Both are delicious!

We decided to try this for lunch yesterday and I'm so glad we did. The staff is super nice and attentive. The inside of the restaurant is warm and welcoming. The chips and salsa were fantastic. Best chips ever! Thin and crunchy: We decided to try the combo fajitas and they were amazing. It came with shrimp, beef, chicken and a chicken quesadilla. Rice and beans also came with it. The tortillas were so good and fresh. The rice was amazing. Tasted very close to Cuban yellow rice. Superb! Everything was fresh and tasty. Not super spicy but steaming hot and wonderful. Definitely one of my favorites. This place is going to give other Mexican restaurants in Katy, a run for their money. Highly impressed by the food and ambiance. We also tried the fresh churros for dessert and they were super wonderful. It comes with 4 or 6, and chocolate dipping sauce. Wow just wow!! Run, don't walk. You must try this amazing restaurant. I can't say enough great about it.

Enchiladas de mole with queso fresco inside (veggie)

The ambiance is nice but the food is a hit or miss or is too spicy. The salsa is way too spicy (both of them), the menudo is way too spicy and can't really eat it. I had mole enchiladas with cheese / queso fesco (veggie option). The first time I ordered that a few weeks ago it was great. Today, it was NOT good. My daughter ordered the chicken quesadillas and they tasted bad (a little burned inside). My mom ordered el caldo and it was good. The Doneraki margarita was good

This was during lunch. Had left overs. You also get a small queso with chips and salsa for lunch. Had a non-alcoholic pinacolada, was delicious, real pieces of coconut mixed in. The restaurant is huge. Big bar area, patio tables, private rooms.

I was hesitant to try this place because I'm a huge Mexican fan and the reviews haven't been great. But I am so glad I came! The chips and salsa here are phenomenal. The service was amazing. So we started out great here. I ordered the lunch Tipico and my husband had the pollo Al carbon. The charro beans are incredible. Tres Leches great. I loved the open atmosphere. I have found my New Mexican joint!!!

Food 4/5 Service 3/5 Ambiance 4/5 After a disastrous first visit, I've decided to give this place another shot. I arrived on Sunday around 2:30 pm. I came for the mole enchiladas from reading the reviews, however after seeing the price for only 2 enchiladas, I decided to get the Tacos al carbon. It was $18.95 for two tacos. On the pricier side tbh. The food came out quick. The food was above average. The star of the show is definitely the green salsa! Overall the food is good and atmosphere is cool. The food in my opinion is overpriced, but if you aren't watching your wallet this place is solid.

After seeing all the positive reviews in local foodie groups, it was time for a dinner date with the wife. When we arrived, the parking lot was full which was the first sign that we were stepping into a great culinary experience. Doneraki was full of families with smiling faces and the ambiance was amazing. We have not had an experience like we had dining at Doneraki at any other Mexican restaurant. The food was amazing. Meat was flavorful and not overly salted. The portions were just right and what I'm assuming is an avocado jalapeño sauce is the perfect complement to any dish - we kept asking for more. The service from the wait staff could have been better but I give them a pass since they were pretty busy on a Friday night. However, as busy as they were, we received a friendly greeting and were sat immediately upon walking in. Doneraki is a must try if you haven't been and aren't familiar with their other locations. Great to take family and friends who are visiting and want to experience and good Mexican restaurant.

Beautiful restaurant but decor does not make up for food quality. We were served a chargrilled cauliflower (on the house) to try. It was good, but not $15 good. It was a chargrilled cauliflower head topped with Tajin and a chipotle aioli, good choice for a vegetarian if you like cauliflower. For our entree we got a parillada for 4 with beef and sausage. The parillada was okay, nothing to really rave about. The short ribs on it were really tough and the seasonings they used were someone sweet? Maybe they were using seasonings left by the bbq restaurant that use to own the place. The charro beans that came with the fajita however were really good, I'll give them a 10/10 for the charro beans but that's it. The overall taste of everything didn't give Mexican or Tex mex, this place is pretty expensive for the quality. I would not recommend coming here unless they work on their cooking and seasonings. Nojthing about this place besides the charro beans sticks out. Also I found it comical how tiny the birthday flan is, it's about 4 spoons worth! The flan was not good, it was pretty think gelatin, not jiggly or creamy. If you want to try this place go ahead but be prepared for mediocre food at a high price. Service was good, food not so much.

Pros - Charro beans were really good Tortillas were yummy Fajita meat was tender and flavorful Cons - Chicken flauta and rice were super dry (I put charro broth on mine) Margaritas (frozen and rocks) had very little alcohol No Happy Hour specials The chips tasted kinda burnt Our waiter was nice, but seemed to have trouble figuring out how to enter our order into his handheld computer. I'm sure it will be easier after a couple of weeks.

I didn't recall anything bad about the place, and given the rave reviews since then, I thought it was time to return. Based on reviews, we showed up early on a Friday evening (~5 pm). Even at that time, it was mostly full, but we were able to snag seats at the bar, which is first come first serve. We ordered the "regular" grilled oysters (5/5), which were anything but regular, as they were topped with peanuts and a really great flavor. I'd get these again. Fair warning, these take 20 minutes to come out, which I didn't mind, but I did not realize that they would not bring us anything else until after the oysters since these are considered an app. I thought they'd just bring things out as they were ready. This meant, we did not get our crawfish until we were already sitting there for an hour. About halfway into the wait for the crawfish (after the oysters), the fried rice (1/5) showed up, and I have to say, it was underwhelming. It came out room temperature, which to me is cold, and I thought this was just how they do it. Except 15 minutes later, the seats next to us got their fried rice, and it came out piping hot. You could still see the steam coming off of it. Besides being cold, I didn't think the fried rice was that good in terms of flavor. I also generally prefer the short grain rice, and this was more of a long grain. Once the crawfish showed up, we were well past an hour, so we dove right into it. Both the garlic butter and combo mix were great flavor - some of the best I've had in Houston. However.... it made me remember why we did not return. About 20% of the crawfish were TINY. And by tiny, I mean they were smaller than my pinky finger. Maybe I'm a crawfish snob, but at this time of the season, there should not be that many tiny crawfish. Maybe a few small ones, but not tiny. Crawfish flavor = 5+/5, crawfish quality = 2/5, crawfish cook = 3/5. Then I made the mistake of ordering a cluster of snow crab. That took another 30+ min to come out, and it was again room temperature. The service at the bar was fine (4/5), but the kitchen service (1/5) is not something I want to experience again, especially not for the crawfish quality/size. Yes, the flavor was amazing, but I'm not fighting for a table for lukewarm food and 30 min wait time for each dish. The pricing was some of the lowest I've seen ($8.99/lb crawfish), but I'd rather pay $1 more at other places for the quality.

The music is a mix of EDM, Hip-hop, Rap, and R&B. They have tables and bar top seating. If you have a bigger group, I'm sure you can find a table depending on the time you arrive. There is a lot of seating. To start off, I ordered the Matcha Martini. It was STRONG omg, definitely a sipper, but it was so good. It was creamy and had a good matcha flavor. I love how they added matcha powder on top. For drinks, I also tried their espresso martini and Bubbly Pineapple. The espressos here are good, no complaints. The Bubbly Pineapple is so cute; it comes out with a bubble of smoke you can pop. The drink is very refreshing; it really tastes like pineapple. FYI, the drink has little black seeds, so if you don't like textures in your drink, maybe this one isn't for you. Also the drink came with a little frozen pineapple you can add to your drink once you pop the bubble As an appetizer, I got a dozen raw oysters and decided to add the $5 tobiko (fish eggs). Let me say, they were not stingy with the Tobiko, there was so much on my Oysters, I mean a lot! The oysters were good, and so was the tobiko, but I feel that with so much tobiko, it kind of took away from the oysters. Still good though, especially for $21 for the dozen with the tobiko! It was very filling I'm not gonna lie, I got pretty full with the oysters, but I still had to eat my entree As an entree, I ordered the Short Ribs, which came with rice and a side salad. I didn't think I was going to eat much of my entree since the oysters had filled me up, but I ate the short ribs down to the bone! Every single one of those ribs I devoured, no meat was left on my plate. I didn't have space to eat, but my stomach made space for this. 10/10 would recommend the short ribs, especially with the delicious sauce it came with. I think it's like a fish sauce 10/10 for food and drinks. Bonus: the staff here is really friendly. I really enjoyed my time here. I need to come more often for sure, this is definitely a Katy gem
