Worst service ever!!!!!!! We waited for almost 3hrs to be seated when we were initially told that it would be 1.5-2hrs. Our Mother's Day was ruined because we were promised something that wasn't true. When 2 hrs of waiting passed, we went to the hostess to notify and she rudely told us that there were no tables and we could leave if we wanted to. I used the restroom and on my way there I saw a couple big tables available. It was only 6 adults and kids of us. . During the wait time we asked a couple of times for an update and we were told that it wasn't going to be any more than two hours. That was a lie. I have the been attending the Doneraki on the south part of town for many years and decided to try this location. BIG MISTAKE!!!!!!!! I am very disappointed with the way they handled the situation. Had the mixed sizzling fajitas and they were great! The beef in particular was to die for, literally perfect, tender and flavorful, next time I wont even bother mixing. The staff was friendly and our server Juan Carlos was pleasant, polite and attentive the whole time. My wife and I went to the soft opening when they were working on their process. Honestly, the food took a little longer than expected. However, it's because we found out that the item my wife ordered generally takes longer to make. The beef fajitas were very tasty and the rice and beans were fabulous. The sizzling platers are great! We ordered the Rodriguez fajitas, bacon wrapped shrimp, quail (amazing), and jalapeño sausage (also amazing). Very good food, very good service, very good margaritas. My family and I ate here on 8/11/24. It was the worst experience at a restaurant I have ever had. They were trying to set us at a dirty table then at another dirty table (there was 9 dirty tables) the restaurant wasn't busy. Took someone 20 minutes to even address our table to get our drink orders. When we were getting refills on our tea there was no ice. My husband had Menudo and he said it was water with intestines no flavor. I had bean and cheese nacho's no beans it was straight up cheese. I was so disappointed. We will never return. An old tradition for the modern palette. Once a franchise found all over the City of Houston the fell from grace in recent years, the new Katy location is living up to the Tex-Méx food culture Doneraki helped build. The loud and somewhat crowded printed menu can be difficult to read but exudes the feel the Katy location seems to promote "Fiesta". The atmosphere is open with a mixture of wood, ceramic and iron furnishing that gives elevated farm-style. The artwork pays homage to cultural icons with some elements of beer garden. I don't eat outside but if you do this may be a great place to explore. I tried the Rodeo Ribs, a rare find at a Tex-Mex restaurant, however, this was a return visit and I wanted to continue explore the grill items of the menu. It was a mixed bag as the ribs were uneven in dry/moist consistency, I very much enjoyed the slaw which was crisp, slightly bitter yet tangy and not swimming in whatever mayo based stuff coleslaw generally comes drenched in. I recommend asking for extra bbq sauce. The table also tried the grilled cheese with peppers, avocado, peppers, and nopales which was delicious and a must try. You can get queso anywhere, this grilled cheese is better, but they have good queso too if you aren't adventurous. They also serve aguas frescas which is generally hard to get at most Tex-Mex places but adds to the authentic Mex feel. The aguas are refreshing but are not free refills. The tortillas are hand made both the corn and flour which elevates anything you eat with them. This Donerakis is worth a place on your dining rotation and should be enjoyed with friends and family. read more

I've been three times, once for lunch and twice for dinner. The lunch time experience was great, the other two...not great. The last time we went was a Saturday evening at 5:15. It was moderately busy. The hostess was NOT friendly at all. My husband ordered a margarita, water, and asked for chips and salsa. None came. We got the margarita and a small glass of water. No chips and salsa. We ordered our food and asked for chips and salsa. Then we sat and watched everyone around us get refills on water and chips and salsa. The food came out and the server was also very NOT friendly, especially after we asked for the tortillas that customarily come with fajitas and AGAIN FOR CHIPS AND SALSA. The server brought 2 old and very dry tortillas annnnd no chips and salsa. Our waiter finally came by and very halfheartedly asked how everything was. We brought up how STILL there were no chips and salsa (despite everyone around us getting theirs) no water, and our food was barely warm. You would think at this point he would get it himself. Nope. It was clear he didn't care and just wanted us to pay the bill. He got his tip because that's how he makes his money. Yes, places/people have bad days but this was ridiculous. We'll let others spend their hard earned money there and we'll stick with our small family owned place (with great service) from now on. read more

I am highly disappointed in the service of this establishment. My family and I were a party of ten in total and we were charged a ridiculous gratuity for bad service. First of all we waited 45 minutes for service and once we received our order, we had to look for the waiter for refills on drinks. We had to track him down to bring our ticket and once I saw that he gave himself a $25 tip then it was clear why he didn't care to give good service because he was already including the gratuity for out table! I understand waitstaff should be adequately compensated for service but they should not take advantage of the patrons just because gratuity is already on the ticket. I must add that the host was not very friendly but overall the food was decent. read more

Our experience here was very bad on mother day weekend. We were told there was a 2 hour wait, which we waited for knowing the circumstances. Close to three hours later the number of people waiting kept changing from 1 to 2 and after asking for clarification we kept getting brushed off. Went for Cinco De Mayo, unfortunately was a very disappointing experience. When asking the waitress what food on the menu they had that was soft was met with a very rude side eye and remarks. Mind you, I was asking due to the fact my fiancé broke his jaw on Friday. I wasn't trying to be difficult just a little understanding would've been nice. Major but was us going over my order with the waitress several times. My fiancfiancé received his his food and 15min had passed I asked if my food was coming soon. Was told I never ordered it. Then when I asked again she said it was the music?!? The food here is great and the drinks are amazing but, they need to hire staff that actually wants to work in the service industry. This was an awful experience and I strongly emphasize with the other experiences from this place. I was excited to go to the new location in Katy only to be HIGHLY disappointed. I ordered the fajitas steak with double rice. The point of ordering fajitas is the piping hot plate that comes out smoking and sizzling unfortunately I had none of the above my plate came out lukewarm, my rice was undercooked, and the service was subpar. First, the restaurant needs to be more specific about the food times that are available. As advertised it says that brunch starts at 9am-2pm but they stop refilling fresh food at 1:00pm. We arrived at 12pm in the middle of brunch and waited an hour and fifteen to be seated. If the restaurant is gonna be open to the idea of a buffet then be prepared to serve people fresh food until 2pm. Announce to people arriving that are waiting that brunch is ending and that they won't get a full service and will be receiving left over food, while also giving the opportunity to stay or leave. Second, the waiting staff is completely understaffed and very unattentive. When asked for service the wait was at least 15-20 minutes till a person would arrive. Third, as a Mexican restaurant you should know how to value the customers that understand the culture and customs that come with owning an authentic Mexican restaurant, general practices are that fresh food is served until the last minute. When people feel unimportant reviews like this occur. Donerkai's- Katy your restaurant needs a lot of improvement and real consideration for all your customers.
