Second time here for a Sunday family dinner, and it did not disappoint! The owner is such a nice, older gentleman who welcomes you in like you're an old family friend. Very hospitable. The place is just simple inside. I was told they've been here for a long time. It's a homey feel with the traditional big round wobbly tables with a lazy susan in the middle. The menu is extensive and has plenty of seafood options as well as meat dishes. We ordered a variety of both and everything was delicious. My only critique is the portion size. It's okay for a few people but for a family meal, we had to order two portions of some dishes. There's another gentleman that brings the food out and buses tables that's also very friendly. Seems like a iykyk type place. In the same plaza as Garden Restaurant (popular dim sum place). Viet influenced Chinese food. No wait during weekend lunch - few tables. All Asians. Menu is massive. A little something for everybody. Noodles are around $14-15. Soups $11-12. Didn't catch how much the veggies are. Got the dry stir fry flat noodle w/ beef ($13.50) - classic Cantonese dish. The portion *could* be split in 2 but also good for one person. Depends on how hungry you are. You can definitely see the oil (not necessarily a bad thing) and the "wok" taste. It's done well. The food was tasty, served hot, and with a smile. The owner will more than likely greet you and show you to your table. There was a lot of unintrusive attention to service that was appreciated. On the day I visited, their internet service was down and the operations were "cash only". While I had enough cash on me to cover a basic order, I would have tried more things as they did not have a lunch menu that would be typical of the competition - soup/egg roll/entree/rice/fortune cookie - for a somewhat fixed price. Might serve them well to set up a cellphone hotspot for their credit card machine for when this happens again. Save your money! I paid $14 for shrimp fried rice and all it was is- Rice, bean sprouts, shrimp. So extremely skimpy. Most places- it comes, peas, carrots, egg- that's fried rice. You must try the Banh Bot Chien (rice cake omelet) at Dong Hai. It's a super simple dish but delicious. Sadly, I missed getting a picture before we destroyed it but it's tender blocks of rice cake in an omelet with scallions and a soy dipping sauce. This is the only place in DFW where I have seen that dish so definitely give it try if you come here. We also ordered the wonton soup, beef flat noodles, fried shrimp and squid, and water spinach with garlic. Everything was a hit with our table of discerning foodies. Wonton Soup - 4.5 stars - Surprisingly good. The broth was clear and flavorful. Beef Flat Noodle - 4 stars - Very solid but perhaps the least special out of the dishes we ordered. Finally after 3 years in DFW, I found a Chinese.... well slash Vietnamese own restaurant that actually serves good and delicious Chinese food. You can feel the authenticity. You can literally feel the grease on the wall and the tables covered in paper/plastic covers lol. The food is great and worth coming. Try their deep fried cheese shrimp. Decided to drop by this place based on Yelp reviews and the fact that they have Banh Bot Chien (Rice Cake Omelette). It wasn't too busy nor empty on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. Service came about quick and the food that we ordered didn't take long to be delivered. Our party wasn't too hungry so we only ordered two items off the menu. Both items were good and portions seemed ok, maybe even a little less than average given the prices for each dish. Rice Cake Omelette: This dish was delicious. I'd come here just for this item. The Rice Cakes were well fried before they threw them onto the eggs. Flavors for this item and the sauce that came with it made for a symphony of textures and flavors in the mouth. Shrimp with Garlic Sauce: This dish came with lots of mixed/sliced vegetables (Carrots, celery, and onions). I want to say I wanted a bit more shrimp, but still thoroughly enjoyed this dish. There was a definite kick of spice on this entrée. It was very good, but I'd likely try something else the next time I'm here. Overall, the food and service here was good. I wanted to try other items, but was of course leery of ordering items whenever I see it listed at "Market Price", which generally means it can become very expensive to order those items. I asked how much the flounder was and was quoted anywhere from $25-$30 and items like the Dungeness Crab over House Fried Rice can apparently run as much as $80 for the order. Given the portion sizes of the two dishes we did order, it seems to be a bit overpriced for what we got, but again, the food is good. read more

Best steamed salted chicken we've had in dfw, that sauce with the green onion/ginger mixture was chef's kiss that mom wouldn't stop commenting how good it was. The chicken was not fatty, skin has its bounce, the meat has a good texture (not too soft not too tough). That was the best dish out of the 3 we got. The fried flat noodle dish was okay, onion wasn't cooked all the way through and was a bit salty for my taste. It is incredible fresh. The rice cake was not too greasy, the egg wasn't too thick, and the flavor... okay I'm drooling again. I love their stir fried noodles and shrimp fried rice. Those were my favorite as a kid and My dad would take me here every time I craved those foods. Plus the owners are so nice and bright. Then I chanced upon this place while doing a google search and decided to give it a go since we were passing by the area. People, if you have never had HOME-COOKED chinese food, THIS IS IT! This place tastes exactly the same as our home-cooked food: no "chinese food" syndrome & not over-seasoned (salty), only healthy, wholesome dishes.
