So I work in the Saddle Brook area - been here for years. I have tried every pizzeria around - Frank's, Bruno's, Mario's etc. I can tell you that the owners of those restaurants universally hate Donnagio's because they came in about 5 years ago and took over the town. And while I'm thrilled they did, I would venture to say that most of the negative things on here about Donnagio's are planted from people who work at the other places. The pizza is the best around. I would place Frank's a distant second, and Bruno's and Mario's in the "don't bother" category. I prefer the square Sicilian pizza, but the round pizza (especially the chicken parm pizza and the white with spinach) is awesome. I also enjoy the food - and they make their own bread which is ridiculously good. The sauce is very good (I'm more of a straight tomato sauce guy rather than a pink sauce person, but both are very good). The staff is friendly, but busy. If you're going to be so concerned about how friendly the phone girl is at any pizzeria while ordering on a friday night, you need to get a hobby. Also, I keep hearing people gripe about the prices. Their pizza and food is right around the same price as everyone else's pizza - give or take a quarter. And it's better. So, if you don't want to spend the quarter on better food, stay home and thaw out some pizza bagels! read more

Consistently delicious food, quality ingredients and great service. With stiff competition in densely populated Bergen County (including Lodi Pizza), Donnagios was a welcome addition. I eat here at least a few times per month and have ever since they opened. You get your money's worth with the size of their sandwiches. I overheard a conversation between the owner and a customer once while on line that Donnagio's refused to compromise on the quality of their ingredients with a particular supplier despite the potential cost savings It's hard to beat that type of loyalty to the quality of the food and to customer satisfaction. I really want to give Donnagio's a 3 1/2 to a 4 star rating. The food is really very good and is always fresh. The place is clean and never had a problem there with the food or the owners and waiters/waitresses. But for some reason, I forget about this place when my wife and I are trying to decide where to go eat......and I wish I knew why. The lasagna is great and the pizza is good. I like their homemade chicken soup with spinach and egg drop. I recommend it, you won't go wrong! read more

The workers at Donna's (Donnagio's) Pizza seem to be very kind except for (their Boss) the man with the crew hair cut, not kind to keep me coming back through their door! May I add that he is not the owner. I was a pretty steady customer of theirs for a very long time. I found their food to be consistently good and very delicious! I think that they have lost me as their loyal customer. So sorry to inform you this! I have found other pizza restaurants nearby that appreciate my business more than you have. Sad when you go in and order a Meatball hero, tell them repeatedly, "No cheese," and they still load up the sandwich with cheese. Then, you call them to tell them about the mistake. They offer to deliver a replacement sandwich, even though you live a few towns outside their delivery area (we didn't ask them to do that), and they NEVER SHOW UP!!!!! It's overly priced pizzeria food. I once ordered their "Pasta with Broccoli, Garlic & Olive Oil with Sauteed Shrimp"...well guess what?! Their Garlic & Olive Oil was a tub of BUTTER sauce. If I wanted just butter in my pasta, I would have asked for Pasta and Butter Sauce. Plus they gave me like 4 pieces of Shrimp. We go to Donnagio's regularly and never had a bad experience. The food always tastes great, the staff is friendly but the only issue, if it is an issue, is that the prices are high, however, we don't mind paying a little more since the food is always good. We always ask for our pizza to be well done and we never have a problem. We tried most of the food there and there isn't anything we don't like. They still provide home made round bread which is absolutely delicious with your meal. Delivery is usually on point and eating-in has a nice dining area with BYOB. Can't go wrong! read more

Real Simple...complete was of money!! I ordered a 6 inch Meatball Parmiagana sub. When the waiter brought out my food, I inquired where are the rest of my meatballs? Literally, there was ONE Mediocre sized meatball cut in HALF and spread across the roll. The waiter said that's all you get. When I politely asked the owner why there was ONE meatball cut in half spread across an entire roll, his response was "that's why I charge so little for that sandwich"...which happens to be $5.50!! I replied only!! His final retort was, you get ONE decent Meatball or 20 little, crappy, salty meatballs for the same price. The worst thing is...the meatball actually tasted pretty good, I am just accustomed to my meatball parms to be busting with meatballs. Not ONE meatball cut in half. We order from Donnagio's everytime a carb overload craving hits us at work and they rarely disappoint. You can order slices of specialty pies for delivery as well which is perfection. They also recently started making personal pizzas and its questionably the best pizza I have ever tried and some good options rather than the basic kinds of za. The only time I had a bad experience was when we ordered a few Buffalo Chicken slices and they arrived looking like crusty pieces of chicken were added as an afternote on top of a precooked slice. Their cheese steaks are awesome too with actual pieces of super tender sliced steak as opposed to the usual thin layer of meat on cheese steaks. In a world full of a million pizzerias (especially in the NJ/NY area) Donnagio's is on top of my list for sure. read more

I've been here a few times for takeout, and each time it has been lackluster. This is the last time. Their pizza is very thick, doughy and oily. If that's you're type of taste for pizza, then ok. Personally, I like a thin slice that is crisped nicely and not oily. It is more expensive, but their menu states they use local ingredients, etc. Honestly, it was probably frozen. Their sub was tasteless. I'm sure the constant menu blasts and coupons are an indication of slow business. Grew up in pal park only eating Donnas Pizza. Now that I live in SB, this is logically the only place to order from. Our fav pizza is their Chicken Parm with the pepperoni coming in second. DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS PLACE!!!!! Lousy customer service!! We order from this place every so often since it is down the street from our work place. Sad to say that most of the time something is wrong, minor things... they either forget to include an item or to remove one from an order. We try not to complain much... however, this last time was ridicules!! 2 orders of wings and 1 sandwich, (a much smaller order than our usual) an hour later I called to ask where is the food, turns out they gave the delivery guy the wrong phone number, I ask to send back the food and please make sure is not cold... 20 minutes later a cold sandwich and what appeared to be re-fried, the same wings, they were slightly warm and saggy, just plain NASTY, when called back to complain the man who answered the phone had the nerves to say that it wasn't his problem!!! Have been ordering here for a while now since I work down the street. Today service was terrible. Ordered food and lady acted as if she had our information. An hour later...no food. Called and was told they did not have extension to contact us that delivery guy was here and will send the food. We informed them please make sure food is hot. Food got here and information on delivery ticket was another office. Chicken tasted refried and sandwich was cold. When I called only two options were to get the same nasty ass chicken or give the food back for the money. No apology or anything. Donnagio's recently provided catering for a film shoot that I was working on and OMG, the food and whole experience was AMAZING! We ordered for 17 people, and the portions were so generous, we had leftovers for 2 days after! :) Not only that but the presentation was beautifully displayed and because we were on a shoestring budget, Donnagio's helped us to choose a menu that would sustain our troops and not break the bank. We went with sandwich platters (made with fresh bread and quality ingredients...even vegetarian choices!!); eggplant rollitini (in the most delicious sauce with creamy ricotta inside...like cutting into tasty little pillows!!) We wanted to reheat on location and the experts at Donnagio's gave us precise instructions on reheating to make for an effortless meal time for our crew. Thanks to Donnagio's, our cast & crew were full, happy and we were left completely stress free. I have been back since (the bread really is to die for...I crave it!!!!), and the quality is never, ever compromised.
