Don came by for a $110 service call for our rattling dryer and claimed to purchase the parts needed to fix it. After a series of no call no shows, and complaining about being sent the wrong parts from amazon, he agreed to refund me the money over the phone. I have not seen the refund. I understand there may be personal things going on - we all have our things we're working through - but I found this experience to be borderline scam artist. One big nope. I didn't check the yelp reviews, otherwise I would have listened to Courtney T., Dawn I, and Joshua M. I called optimum appliance and Hy came over and fixed the issue next-day. I called to see if he could fix a broken washing machine at my rental and he texted the total cost and gave his honest opinion that it wasn't worth putting money into it when the cost would be almost the same as a new washing machine. This is the second time I've used Don's Appliance Repair services. I am a totally satisfied returning customer. Don did everything right. He called back in a reasonable time and was able to set up an appointment. When he came he had the expertise to diagnose the issue and presented me with several options. I decided to repair the appliance. Don had the necessary part and quickly replaced the failed temperature sensor. Everything about this service call experience was good. Don was fantastic! Our freezer stopped freezing but was still blowing cold air. Before even telling me that it needed to be fixed on the phone and making an appointment he walked me through a few at home fixes to try, which unfortunately didn't work for our issue.) He was able to come help us the next afternoon and was able to diagnose it was the circuit board (we had hoped it was just the relay) and was able to go get the part needed and came back to fix it the same day. His prices were very reasonable (I had been quoted double what he charged me by multiple other companies) and he did a great job! If you have $80 burning a hole in your pocket that you want to give away and are looking for someone to come take your oven apart, drop the door several times, put it the door back on (but not screwed together - screws are still in the oven), then tell you he will be back in 3 days with a part...then never comeback - this is your guy. We were actually able to get ahold of him a few days later after several attempts from multiple numbers. He mentioned the part ordered was broken and he would get a replacement in a few days and return with that. That was over a month ago. We are just buying a new oven at this point. read more

I have mixed reviews for Don. He was incredibly helpful and honest over the phone when I asked him about an issue I had which was why I called him to repair my stove and washer. I do appreciate how he gives you a quote over the phone prior to coming over unlike other larger companies that will charge you 150$+ to come out regardless of knowing the issue or not. His trip fee is also lower than other places I called. The bad parts as others have noted were appointment cancellations due to parts breaking, not showing up for follow up appointments and not responding to calls or texts. I understand he is just a one man company and probably just doesnt have good time management but keep this in mind if you have major issues to fix. I would recommend Don overall, if you have just one appliance to repair which would not require him to make multiple trips or you might have to spend a lot of time following up and tracking him down to return for the other appliances. read more

I strongly not recommended this guy to anyone. Don charged me $75 for my fridge's temperature adjustment at the first appointment. He said if the control temperature isn't working then let him know to order the replacing parts. I called, texted and left several messages but no replied, then he finally texted me back to say that he took a long weekend and be back Thursday for appointment with me at 3pm. He was never shows/ calls until a couple days later he told me that he had to go to urgent care due to his blood sugar issue. Next week he then tried to make an another appointment with me but again never called nor showed up as he promised again, again and again. I sadly had a horrible experience with Don last week. I have previously used Don and he was great, super responsive and took care of the problem, this was about 1.5 years ago. About a year ago I called him about another problem and never heard back, but I assumed he was busy or on vacation, so I just found someone else that time. Last week I had a problem with a dishwasher at a tenant's house. I called Don and scheduled service, texted him a picture of the model number, etc. He said he would be out the next day, we set a time, all was good! I was really happy he was available so soon, as was the tenant who wanted the dishwasher fixed. The next day my tenant waited for him and he did not show up! No call, No show. We called multiple times, text messages were showing as delivered (iMessage--you know his phone was receiving them). We called the next day, and the day after. Left messages, nothing. I understand emergencies happen, or that things might need to be rescheduled. I waited a week to write this review hoping he would call and apologize, explain what happened and reschedule. Unfortunately this did not happen. I have not heard back from Don at all. He did not get back to my tenant at all. We are extremely frustrated that he wasted our time--my tenant took half a day off work to meet him and he doesn't even give the courtesy of an apology, which is totally unacceptable. read more

Made an appointment to have our washer and dryer serviced and cleaned. The washing machine has been out of balance, even on a low spin cycle it was going out. Day of appt he called 5 minutes until our appointment saying he would be 20 minutes late. Showed up 45 minutes later. That is not why I am giving this 1 star. Don stomped around on our floor saying it wasn't level. Then put rubber pads under the feet. I have no idea why he would think that would make it level. The machine continues so spin out of control and now goes right off the rubber pads he put down. Didn't clean either machine. Complete waste of money! Writing this review because my mom needs someone to service her dryer and happened to mention to me that she was going to call this guy! Glad she mentioned it so she can avoid the hassle of this guy not knowing what he is doing. read more

Really nice guy. Came to my house, diagnosed the problem with my dishwasher, needed to order a part to complete the repair. Called the next week to say the part hadn't arrived; rescheduled for a couple days later. Then, nothing. Wouldn't respond to calls or texts. Didn't even charge for the first visit, just ghosted. 4.5 stars -- Don was awesome. My fridge had been leaking water and not cooling properly. Don came in, diagnosed the issue immediately and ran over to a parts store to grab a new fan. He was very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions, including giving me advice to prevent it from happening again. His price was extremely reasonable & he accepts CC payments, which is great. Two minor downsides: I called him 2 times over 2 days and left messages. He did not call back for 3 days, but when he did I was able to get my appointment scheduled the next day. Next, he was ~35min late but he called ahead to let me know. Highly recommend. read more

Called don 2 weeks ago, Sounded like a nice guy, told him I have an LG washing machine in Tukwila that does not work. He said no problem and scheduled with me for couple of days later. I called him on the day of the appointment and he forgot, confused me with a different cus and told me that I'm confused about the date , after we sorted things out we scheduled for the next day at noon, he was there checked everything and said he can fix it , parts and labor are gonna be 180$ I said great. He said I need to order parts from Spokane it will be for next Monday , which was 6 days from the hat time , plenty of time to get parts shipped from Spokane , I trusted him and said ok , I told him I have a guy living there without one and if that gonna be the date then it had to be it, he promised. Yesterday I called and texted him to remind him for our appointment today, and again he got confused about who I was , after reminding him again he said no problem I'll be there at noon. Today I called him 4 times and left messages At 9-10 am to remind him At 11:30 am , 30 min before our appointment he gives me a lame excuse why he can't do the job and that he can't help me!!!! I actually didn't end up using Don's services because he was exceptionally honest with me up front. I have a front load washer and dryer that take a lot of abuse. We have three dogs, so our washer especially ALWAYS has large items running through it, and so. Much. Fur. I was absolutely willing to pay to have someone come out and do preventative maintenance on the set, but Don walked me through several things I could and should do first, things to check, and explained what he would do if he did come out. I contacted Don to fix my dishwasher back in May 2017. He came and repaired it. It worked a handful of times and it had the same issue again. I contacted him to come back out and no response. He has not responded to any of my calls. I reported him to the BBB and he was equally nonresponsive. If I could give zero stars, I would!! I had called Don to find and fix a leak on my refrigerator. He gave a same day appointment and made it on time. I had a different appliance repair (Charlie's Appliance in Burien) work on it earlier, but apparently they are capable of "fix" if we can "find" the leak. That doesn't help, does it? Don meticulously troubleshot the problem, testing out multiple possible places where a leak could occur before finally zeroing on the problem area. He was respectful, professional and above all very competent in his line of work. His rates were reasonable as well. Would highly recommend him. read more

He was on-time (actually came a bit early after he phoned us ahead of time which was great) and fixed our dryer in a short period of time at a reasonable rate. Have an LG refrigerator that is 2 years old and cost $2,500 that suddenly stopped working. Called Don's and told him what the problem was. He said you probably have a sealed system leak and would not come in to take a look at it. He could have easily made a repair appointment and charged me for the diagnostic. He gave me the name of a company that could repair the refrigerator. Called another repair company and made an appointment. The guy came and looked at it and started to take off the panel that covered the compressor. He started taking off the first of 3 screws that held the cover and stopped. He said that the refrigerator had a sealed system leak. He said the repair would cost as much as a new refrigerator and that I would probably have the same problem again. He apologized and charged me the $100 diagnostic fee that I knew I had to pay. I will call Don's the next time I have any appliance repairs!! read more

I would like to take a moment to write about Don's service for our dryer. We an had issue with dryer not working properly for months and found Don on the internet with great review. I had few other options but after speaking with Don on the phone, I felt comfortable to go with him. Made a schedule for next day and on his first visit, he replaced a part, clean inside to remove all the lint clogged up and now we are very happy to use working dryer for our laundry again. I hired Don to fix a Whirlpool fridge that wasn't running cold. He found out right away that the fan was bad but didn't recommend a new one as the compressor may go at any time since it overheated & left a big burned spot on the floor. New fridge was recommended as it was over 20 years old. Next we moved on to our washing machine which won't spin. Don replaced the faulty part, which he had done a thousand times before, with a new one he had in his van, and just like that, it was good to go. I called for a dryer repair on a Saturday when either everyone was closed or said they don't do Samsung. When I called, the response was polite, and I was able to get an appointment on the same day. The service was excellent, apparently a bracket somehow bent, and instead of trying to lie and saying it was the motor or this or that, he was honest and said he'll try to bend it back, so we don't need to order parts, and 15 minutes later fixed.
