My Maytag Neptune dryer, which is about 20 years old, needed repair. The dryer is a type with a lower tumble dryer and upper drying cabinet, which I really love, especially the upper drying cabinet. I called Don's Appliance as I have used them before and knew I could depend on them. I had hopes it would be something simple like the belt, which it was, however, threads stripped on the pulley roller to the motor required the motor to be replaced. it was suggested if I was going to fix it to replace the rollers and blower. I was advised that it was worth it to fix it as it would be like new and cost less than a new dryer. It seems the newer appliances are made to last 5 years and as I really love the dryer and parts were still available, I decided to fix it. They also guarantee their work for a year. I now have my dryer fixed, with new parts and a dryer that should last me, hopefully another 20 years! During Covid my refrigerator went out and I couldn't get anyone to come out nor could I get anyone to install a new one. they would only drop it at the curb. I called Don's and they came out, put in new parts, fixed it, guaranteed it for 1 year. That was 4 years ago. I love Don's. They are responsive, reliable, courteous, friendly and prompt. read more

Shay replied the first thing in the weekday morning upon my request for a quote over the weekend and provided very honest and forthright communication along with valued information. It dealt with a Mirowave Oven which I wanted repaired, but was told with professional integrity, it's not worth repairing and reasons why (so, the cost of replacement often is cheaper than repairing and morereliable getting something new versus fixing something that's broken that might break again or another aspect may falter). Kudos for Don's Appliances, although I didn't use them this time, I'd most certainly consider them the next time. read more

Don was speedy, He had the part we needed for our refrigerator the same day. He replaced the part in 1 1/2 hours and without us asking fixed the double door closer. His charge was about about half the price of other repair men who also said they would have to order the part which would take at least 5 more days. The ice maker in our Samsung Refrigerator stopped working. I contacted Don on a weekend, expecting to hear back during the week. He actually responded via text and suggested I call Samsung as they have been ongoing issues the ice maker. I did, and sure enough, Samsung replaces the unit. So... Even though I did not need Don for this repair, I was very glad he was ethical enough to lead me to a resolution. I called Don's Appliances to get a water leaked in my fridge, my wife screamed for help while dispensing water out of the left door where water comes out of and then water comes starts coming out on on the floor on the opposite side. I shut off the water to the fridge to stop the water leak, I got an appointment for the next day and saw a tech named David. David called the next day to advise me he was on the way, arrived on time and found my problem within 10 minutes. He used some of the additional hose that Kenmore left in the back area in case needed, he cut a piece and spliced it in and my water leak was fixed, every time I have called Don' for service they have been great and reasonably priced. Don's Appliance seemed to be at the top of the lists with great reviews. I called and got a SAME DAY APPOINTMENT, unheard of for me. Sure enough, Anthony showed up on time, and diagnosed the problem in minutes. We unplugged the unit, let it set for 2 days for ice to melt and evaporate, then Anthony came back out and worked his magic. He was polite, easy to talk to and easy to understand. I tried to DIY a fix for my dryer, which had been making a strange helicopter sound. After some searching, I found out it was an issue with lint in the blower wheel. I took apart my dryer and cleaned it out. But when I put it back together, something went wrong as the dryer wasn't working. I contacted Don's and I'm glad I did. Breann was very responsive and was able to get me a next-day appointment with Rory. She even was able to give me advice, when I asked, on whether it's worth repairing a large appliance or just replacing the whole thing. Day of the appointment, Rory called me and let me know he could arrive earlier, which was great. He brought over an apprentice named Carlos for training. I described the issue and Rory said that my assumption was correct based on his experience and he advised that lint cleaning the blower wheel is necessary once in a while (in this case after 3.5 years). It's a service that Don's Appliances can handle and charges between $150-$200 to do so (depending on how much effort is required to get to the dryer, open it up, etc etc). He advised that if left unchecked, it would eventually build up too much heat behind the dryer and cause it to fail, which would lead to a more expensive charge. As he opened up the front panel, he immediately saw the issue: I had forgotten to reconnect a sensor. He reconnected it and tested the dryer and voila, it worked! He said I had done the job 95% correctly, just forgot to plug in that sensor. He also advised that, based on his experience, LG and Samsung are typically more challenging to repair, primarily because parts aren't as readily available as Whirlpool, Electrolux, GE, Maytag, and most American brands. He only charged me the service fee of $95 (which I was told about before scheduling, waived in case repairs are needed) since the actual repair only took him about 5 minutes. But he was gracious enough to answer all my other questions that I had been curious about with dryer maintenance and, for me, I felt that his reassurance that I did the job correctly, along with answering all my other questions, was worth it. Some folks might find it crazy that I was charged $95 for 5 minutes of work, but I'm paying for not only the fact that he was able to quickly repair what I had not been able to do in such a short amount of time, his advice and experience are what I'm paying for so he can get it done in 5 minutes. I'm quite confident in moving forward with Don's Appliances for repairs on my large appliances. read more

When I called Yesterday and spoke to Brianne that answered my call I told her the problem with our dryer. She was very nice and let me know they're fully booked however she will check to see if they can squeeze me in that day. When it needed repair, they were able to successfully deal with my washer, a few years ago, so I naturally contacted them again when it had another problem. It seems that they are more than happy with their current workload and not interested in doing anything else. I contact them via their online form last Sunday (a week ago today), was called the following day, but was pretty obviously dismissed by the slightly antagonistic woman who said she would get back to me, but never did so. I can't thank Anthony enough for helping me with my dryer issue. I have a rental in a condominium community, and had no idea where to start. When I called Don's appliances, the person on the other line said my error message was most likely an issue with venting, and not the dryer. So I took their advice, and had a venting company clean my vents first. My tenants continued getting the error message on the dryer, so I called Don's Appliances for an appointment. Anthony showed on time, and my tenants were very pleased with how professional he was. Because I wasn't there, Anthony sent me videos of the inside of my dryer and explained that my dryer was fine, and suggested the venting company my not have completed their job. I didn't ask for this, he messaged me after the visit and sent the videos and explained things to me. But now I'm feeling like I just got stuck in the "pointing gingers game" with each company refuses to take responsibility of fixing my issue. I reached out to Anthony and asked if he could talk to the venting company directly so they could be on the same page, so I could have a game plan on what to do next. Not only did Anthony call the other company, he followed up with me a to make sure the cleaning was done properly, and that my dryer was working. Never have I ever had a company take the initiative to call a third party, and never have I ever had a company care enough to follow up with me on someone else's service. The 3 stars is for the price they charged me. $200 for an hour of labor! My dryer was already dismantled before he presented the issue to me so I was left with no choice but to let him proceed, but are you serious? $200 for an hour's work and no parts required? That is highway robbery in my opinion. The service person was very nice and personable, but it came with an expensive price tag. I won't be using their service again. 02/28- I am not disputing what the issue was and yes he fixed in less than an hour and my dryer is now working great. I am balking at the rate. $200 for barely an hours work is pricey to me. I can see if it took him an hour and a half or 2 hours, but it didn't. $150 would have been more reasonable. Disappointed. Josh' first visit was January 19th when he told us it was the locking mechanism and he had to order it and would return in 2 weeks. He said I didn't need to contact the office to schedule that he would just come by on his way home. He also told us to send video of w/d next time it acts up. I sent video on January 19th after he left. No response. I left a vm and no response. We went out of town for 2 weeks and nothing. I contacted Josh the morning of March 4th via text again. He responded that he forgot about us-love the honesty, but that's it. March 6th I text josh again and he said he didn't make it to pick up the part...March 7th he came and reset the w/d and again it worked for him. He didn't fix it or want to deal with it. He decided the locking mechanism isn't the problem. He kept telling me it's time to buy another set. Also, it's less than 6 years old and rarely gets used bec we travel for work ALOT. To me it's cheaper to fix it than to replace it. He said he needs to see it when it's acting up so I asked him if my husband can face time him when it does (since that's obviously the only way it's going to happen) and he said NO. Then I was told if they come out again that I will be charged another service fee. It just sucks we were VERY patient and didn't complain that it took him almost 2 months to even get back to us and still be in this situation. We are left feeling like the knowledge isn't there on these stackable or it's laziness on getting to the bottom of the problem.
