The staff here is absolutely lovely! My sister and I ordered a lobster roll and shrimp po boy. The lobster roll tasted fresh and the bun was soft, buttery, and crispy. The best part of the po boy was the sauce - we will probably try the catfish one next. The fries were average but the coleslaw was incredible (it is on the sweeter side, much like KFC's but fresher). We also got the crab cake. This was the first crab cake I've eaten in my life. It was good but probably wouldn't order it again. read more

We got all the fried. The fried shrimp and fish are very well prepared, fresh and flavorful. The hush puppies are perfect. The fries are different yet really good - they're like breaded fries. The cocktail sauce is a little weird yet the tartar sauce is on point. Staff and service are excellent. It's not a fancy place, but great for takeout, or if you're not concerned with ambiance, they have some seating. However, don't order the Jambalaya unless you feel like throwing away $17+. It was awful and nothing like Jambalaya. Hardly any sausage and tough, four miniature shrimp, leather like peppers, and overall poor quality. For variety and quality of fish and seafood, Don's Dock can hardly be beaten in this quadrant of the suburbs. Sometimes the non-fish trappings fail to measure up; for example, the sandwiches are overwhelmed by a voluminous bun, and the french fries (battered, ugh) are completely forgettable. Fish tacos are generously portioned but blandly garnished. The clam chowder is thick and authentic but too salty. The cole slaw is exactly what you expect, fine but not very interesting. However, if you are getting straight-up fried fish or seafood, go nuts. Walleye, cod, shrimp, scallops, calamari--you name it, they do it very well. They have valuable monthly specials and meal deals, but if they involve fries, skip it and get something else on the side instead, such as hush puppies or pasta salad. Or just get more seafood! June is Shrimp Fest. A couple of the special items are duds (I'm looking at you, crab-stuffed shrimp) but a few are delicious (e.g. shrimp salad). Shrimp shrimp shrimp shrimp. I never got back to try the shrimp po boy. Next year! The ladies behind the counter are very sweet, without exception. The nautical decor sets a groovy mood without being kitschy. I came back to stock up on some more frozen fish to make in the air fryer. It was early in the morning, and I was starving because I had an eaten yet. I got a cup of their clam chowder soup to go. N oh my God it is out of this world it is authentic in New England. I had this place bookmarked for a while. I love making fish in my air fryer! I definitely had to check them out to see what their market had as far as raw fish to take home. The lady helping me behind the counter was very informative. I was looking for frozen seafood because blast frozen is extremely fresh! I got the cod, Pollac, and Salmon! So far I made the pollac in the air fryer with a homemade garlic butter marinade and it was out of this world!! The guy that finished helping me and rang me up was really friendly too. I will definitely be back when I need more seafood for the air fryer. it's a little bit of a drive, but well worth it because the quality is amazing. Who knew such wonderfully fresh seafood delights were hiding in this unassuming little building of of NW highway? I know I didn't and have been missing out for far too many years! They have a gigantic menu of fresh seafood both for taking home to cook yourself in addition to the huge dining menu, too. They are a BYOB place and also have a variety of non-alcoholic beverages to choose from. They do a huge amount of take-out business but they also have about 6 tables or so (each seats 4) as well if you want to dine-in...but at peak meal times there may not be a free table for a while so I advise being prepared to take-out or wait for a table during busy times. We arrived just before the dinner rush on a Friday and luckily nabbed a table. Within a few minutes of sitting down the line was to the door with people waiting to order. We ordered 2 different sandwiches from their monthly specials menu; right now it is their Mardi Gras themed specials and I had the blackened catfish sandwich & the Hubs had one of the Po' Boys (I forget which one), both of them were darn tasty. Mine came with coleslaw & a large cup of red beans & rice that I ended up taking home to have for lunch another time. We also received a free 1/2 lb order of delicious hushpuppies with our Yelp check-in offer - score! They use different kinds of breads/buns for the various sandwiches and both of ours were quality breads that tasted good & held up to the constant manipulation while we devoured our sammies. Their slaw is a good combo of creamy & vinegary which is perfect in my book, too. It truly is a dizzying array of fresh seafood to choose for prepared seafood ready to eat & the fresh seafood to take home & cook yourself. I am pretty sure I counted at least 2 but maybe even 3 kinds of homemade pickled herring - now that is impressive! I wish we lived closer to this place to visit them more often. read more

I have passed this restaurant many times and have always wanted to stop and see what they have to offer but did not . So finally out of the blue I remembered it and said " let's go and have lunch at Don's Dock Seafood " . Amazingly quaint and reminded me of this joint at Martha's Vineyard . I felt comfortable and excited to see the menu and the young faces behind the counter who were eager to help . So many choices and finally settled for fish and chips . Perfectly crispy cod with the perfectly seasoned fries ,served with coleslaw. The clam chowder was full of clams and thick ....different from the chowda at Hyannis Port or anywhere in Cape Cod but it is equally delicious. I'd been wanting to get myself to a particular seafood joint, but, much to my dismay, it closes at 7, so I haven't been able to work it into my schedule just yet. Thankfully a friend has driven by Don's Dock and suggested we try it in the meantime. When we arrived we were initially overwhelmed with the choices. Alexis was super sweet and friendly, and explained the whole menu AND specials to us. She gave us suggestions and let us know what the most popular items were. He ordered the Fish Tacos and I had the Fish and Chips. Both were reaaaally delish! I enjoyed the biscuit-type bun and the tartar sauce was a great compliment to the fish. I was really pleased with fresh fruit on the side. His salsa (both on the tacos and on the side) was a bit too sweet for my particular taste. I love that the tortillas were grilled. I also like that this is not "fast" food by any means - we waited about 10 minutes for our food, it came out piping hot, and you could tell it was made with care. Many moons ago, my now husband couldn't shut up about Don's Dock. Seriously. He's been talking about this place as long as I've known him. And so once I became a Yelper, I bookmarked Don's Dock. Now, I have suggested about two million times that we hit the Dock to which I have been greeted with a: It's too far...we'll go another time. Recently, fate stepped in. We were fifteen minutes away and hungry. Woo hoo! I entered this very clean, yet very small establishment and I was immediately overwhelmed. (Side note: I was visually impaired this day. Recently dilated eyes at the doctor's office. I knew I was in the right place by the delectable smells alone!) Making a decision was next to impossible. The hubby easily chose the fried shrimp with fries and potato salad. I took longer to decide and landed on the Maryland crab cakes with shrimp pasta salad instead of fries. We waited patiently at a table right in the middle of the restaurant. It's counter service which was perfect. Soda in a can. Enough options to make this caffeine-free girl happy. When the food arrived, we were immediately tasting everything on each other's plates. My favorites from top to bottom: Shrimp pasta salad Fried shrimp Cole slaw Maryland crab cake Potato salad (with dill!) Fries Shrimp sauce I loved the pasta salad!!! I'm so glad that I tried it. The shrimp were great without any sauce. The husband didn't love the potato salad but that's because it was different. I like different. ;-) Overall, I wish they were closer to home. Went to Don's Dock Seafood for the first time yesterday. We arrived at about 2:50 pm so there were a couple of tables available. Luckily for us, there were no lines. Both hubby and I ordered the lobster rolls and a fried Alaskan cod sandwich (from the March Specials menu) for our son. Our food arrived in about 10 minutes after we have placed our order. The lobster rolls we had didn't disappoint! They were fresh, generously portioned and very, very delicious. I have had a few lobster rolls before and the lobster roll from Don's Dock Seafood was definitely the best I have ever had! And the pricing was the most reasonable too! We ordered the lobster rolls that came with a side of chips and coleslaw. We decided to substitute our chips with fries. Our upgrade costed us a small extra charge but it was fine with us. The fries were tasty and the coleslaw tasted fresh, creamy and on point. We didn't try our son's Alaskan cod sandwich but he told us it was the "best burger he ever had" so it must be really good as well! Fresh and delicious food at a great value, what's not to love about this little gem? The only complain I have was it's a bit out of the way from where we live but it's definitely not a fault of theirs! LOL. Love their fried shrimp!!! It's very good but I do think it's pricey for the portion they serve you! Also the service is excellent! Alexis took our order and she smiled the entire time and every time we approached her afterwards. My mouth would hurt after smiling that much. You order at the register and then they call your number and you get your food from the counter (no table service, so no tips!). I'd suggest eating their so your food is still warm. They have many tables inside even if the dining area is small. Dining area isn't anything special, they have a lot of seafood related decoration on the walls. They must really really like their decoration. Their were a bunch of condiment bottles put out as decoration and the owner came out to make sure they are aligned perfectly and that the label was facing forward (See the pictures). I thought I'd take lots of pictures of the decoration since they work so hard to make sure it's perfect. I would return to get the fried shrimp! Wish it was cheaper though. read more

I've been going here for years mostly for their fried shrimp which is delicious as is their cocktail sauce and cole slaw. But I've always liked herring mostly non jars from Vita and Noon Hour until now. Dons has the best herring both in regular wine sauce and especially in sour cream. It's absolutely delicious.
