They should put the butter on the side, so the whole thing felt dry. They served it with tartar sauce, which was an interesting choice. Husband was unimpressed with his mahi. Service started off strong and then fell off a cliff. Our server was attentive when we needed to order and then absent through pretty much the rest of the meal. We asked a busboy for more water and someone went to find our server to get our check. Basic things like ketchup for fries wasn't even considered. Maybe the Des Plaines location is better, this one didn't live up to the hype or price.

I picked a pork item to take home and try. When I got home and started to thaw it out, I noticed that the item I purchased had expired 1 1/2 months before the purchase date. This was a use by date, not a purchase by date, so it had no shelf life. I thought any establishment would be embarrassed to sell a product 1 1/2 months after the expiration date. Now here's the problem. The Glenview store is 40 minutes from me. I am much closer to the Mt. Prospect store and I was under the impression that the Wild Fork sign on both stores means that they would both back up product sold by the Wild Fork corporation. Well Mt. Prospect wouldn't help me in any way since I did not buy the item there. Don't give me the "franchise" excuse. If Wild Fork can't figure out how to stand behind their product, no matter which location, I have no reason to ever set foot in any of their stores again.

Having a separate entrance to the food court from the market was also interesting! I went in the market entrance, thinking that it might connect to the food court, but alas, it does not. The food court is laid out in what I believe is an efficient manner. (I'm trying to imagine what it would look like on an extremely busy day!). The space has a good number of seats (Hooray for eating dumplings inside in a Chicagoland winter!), and the staff at the dumpling stand were very friendly and efficient. The market itself had lots of options on products and my daughter is usually able to find what she is looking for for herself as well as her friends as gifts! Picked up beer brats upon recommendation (and a crowd favorite), Mediterranean turkey burgers (super good and I enjoyed them more than my husband did if I'm to be honest), prime rib burgers (currently vacuum sealed in the freezer), skin on hot dogs (best ever), cheddar and jalapeño burger (another fave!), and maybe a couple others I can't recall. Everything so far- fresh and from what I've frozen, has been delicious. We typically shop at Paulina Market so it's been wonderful to find a shop closer at the same level (in our opinion). It is pricey as some have stated but you're paying for what you get. They have an amazing selection of prepared foods as well. Worth stopping in for! Can't wait to restock.

BYO! FINALLY got to Don's Dock because I was in Des Plaines for an apt and remembered them and I wished I had gotten here sooner. I've seen it thousands of timez from the NW Train. Really cute small seafood market and diner maybe 25 seats in there at small tables, no bar. Nice fresh fish counter had well priced and well sourced seafood. A check in will get you a free hush puppy order and they were excellent. I had the best Seafood Chili I have ever had, and my partner had the Fried Beer battered cod and Lobster Bisque, both excellent and $10 and $12 respectively including fresh Italian bread. Don's is BYO and we just BYO'd our tea from our previous meeting in Des Plaines but will be back soon with something dryer and colder. And their fresh fish prices were fair with country of origin labeling. There are monthly specials and always something on sale including some cyberspecials on their website. Don's Dock is a hidden gem that deserves a standing ovation! From the moment we walked in, the staff treated us like we were the stars of the show. They answered all my questions and even threw in some fun facts about the menu--talk about service with a side of knowledge! I dove into the clam chowder, and let me tell you, it was a warm hug in a bowl. I also tried the crab bisque, which was a delight! We prefer our lobsters plain (no fancy lobster salad for us), but I have to admit, the version we had was pretty good. Next time, I'm hoping to try lobster plain. The fried calamari, catfish, and cod? Crispy perfection! Bonus points for being BYOB. It's first come, first serve for tables, but don't worry; they turn over fast, so you won't be left hanging. Dons Dock is located on the west side of downtown Des Plaines. And it has fresh sea food with great service! I had the Alaskan Cod Fish sandwich with fries and 1/2 pound fried shrimp. Total came out to around $15 which is very reasonable for fresh sea food! They have a bunch of sauces to spice things up. Its $0.30 per sauce. Had the Louisiana hot sauce cuz spicy is the way to be! The servers are really kind. Told them it was a first time and they gave a starter kit with pens magnets coupons. Its a good place to with groups of 4. And they have picnic tables for out door seating. If you have little ones you can ask for a small rubber ducky! Recommend! read more

I love there crabby patty but I decided to try something new today. I got the Maryland crab cake sandwich and it was absolutely amazing. I love crab cakes when I go high end restaurants I end up paying 30 dollars for one crab. At dons dock you can get two for ten dollars and they are just as good! Love it. The ambiance is really nice and the service is excellent. The rest room is clean and so is the sit in area. You can come with a group of four, that is how much one table seats. Loves it read more

The service was accommodating without being intrusive. Don's Dock Seafood boasts an excellent selection. However, the lobster roll had a bit too much mayonnaise flavor for my liking. Their fried shrimp was light and served hot and fresh. I appreciate that they offer a wide variety of spices to purchase for seasoning your own fresh fish when you take it home. They also have some canned and bottled beverages available, but you can bring your own if you prefer. read more
