Great ambiance and service. Strong drinks. We felt like the food was alright, good but nothing to write home about. Saw rave reviews about the monkey and pretzel bread but it was non descript. Chicken was well cooked with a crisp skin -- honestly better than the steak (nothing to say). Macaroni and cheese & mushroom side were both just fine.
I recently made my second visit of the year this past May, and the experience was exceptional. I sampled both seasonal appetizers: the Tomato Salad and the Seared Scallops.The scallops were cooked to absolute perfection. Furthermore, despite not typically being a fan of tomatoes, I found the salad so delicious that I finished it immediately. As always, Don's Prime delivered amazing food paired with warm, friendly service.
Don's Prime steakhouse is a delicious restaurant located on the main floor of the Fontainebleau in Las Vegas. Make sure to have reservations because it can get filled up quick especially on a Saturday night. Angel was our server and he was excellent with both charm and class, he recommended the Wagyu from Pennsylvania and it did not disappoint. The bone marrow was full of buttery flavor, the complimentary bread was soft and warm, the lobster Mac and cheese was creamy and had actual lobster plated onto the lobster shell, the cream corn was sweet and creamy, and I was full! My appetite was satisfied and happy, this was certainly a prime meal here at Don's Prime!
One of the best dining experiences of my life! From start to finish, the service was incredible & every bite was fantastic. The atmosphere is modern, comfortable, elegant, & moody in the best way. Our servers, Angelo & Jeremy, went above & beyond to ensure we had a fabulous experience. The wine pairings were divine & perfect with each course. The lobster soup had big chunks of lobster. The crab cake with fennel was incredible & highly recommend. The bone marrow was great for sharing & a real treat! The chopped salad was perfect & light to pair with the rest of the first course bites. My boyfriend isn't a huge salad person & he even enjoyed it, so that says a lot! The steak was cooked perfectly. The lobster mac & cheese is the best I've ever had, a true star of the show! The watermelon desert was the perfect bite to end an incredible meal. Highly recommend, especially to celebrate special occasions. We will most definitely be back in the future!
Totally SUPERB and hands down all around! Always the place to eat when I stay at Fountaine Bleu. We always enjoy eating here when we are in town. Best cut steak and definitely can be shared for 2 people. Lobster tasted fresh! Great quality food with reasonable price. Ask for the bread service, it tasted A-Ma-ZING! Butter herb bread served along with the warm toasty pretzel. Everything is superb and not to mention their excellent customer service. The place look SPANCY but it is good for the price, quality care and the excellent ambience.
This is almost unbelievable if it didn't just happen in real life. My dad is in town visiting from Boston and he's turning 72 in 2 weeks so I wanted to take him out to dinner to celebrate before he leaves tomorrow. I've been to a few places at Fountainbleau in the past, Kyu, Mother Wolf, Chyna Club, and have been impressed with the ambiance and the food and generally the service so I decided to check out Don Prime. It was between here and Mayfair and I wanted somewhere where we can talk and connect and Mayfair seemed too loud and distracting. We came here and we ordered over $400 of food and drinks. Tomahawk seemed good though we barely ate any. Spinach was good. Bread was great. Drinks were well-made. Crab cake was tasty. Our servers, Isai and Rob were fine. We were in the corner and enjoying the evening. Not 30 minutes into our meal the manager, Zee, came to our table and not so nicely told us that we were being too loud. What in the world? There was only two of us and my old dad who is a bit hard of hearing. We sat at 90 degrees to each other, not even across the table. This was not a table of drunken bachelor party crowd. We were not taking shots. We were not dancing on the tables or stomping our feet. We did not laugh uproariously (my dad doesn't really laugh at all lol). We kept all our clothes on. I've been dining out for many decades and never have anyone told me to be quiet, not to mention in such a rude and condescending way. But even if we were unreasonably loud, which I highly doubt, I would have really appreciated it if she used a friendlier, less judgmental tone and/or told me in private. Just pull me aside girl. My dad is visiting from across the country. I don't know if I get another dinner with him anytime soon or maybe ever again and I hate for this to be our last memory together. Me being told I'm being too loud in a restaurant when we were in a corner seat with two tables within 10 feet and I'm spending $500 for a 1.5 hour dinner to essentially have a conversation and bond, which I was not able to do since I stopped talking afterwards and felt humiliated. I was so shocked I didn't know how to react so I didn't for a while. I stopped eating too. I think the issue comes down to that I didn't feel like we were unreasonably loud and I was confused and shocked. I stopped talking because I felt self- conscious and didn't feel comfortable there anymore. Since I lost my appetite and didn't feel comfortable talking any more, there was no point in being there. We each had one piece of the tomahawk and the evening felt ruined. I asked to speak with the manager and lo and behold, it's.... Zee!! The same woman who rudely told us to basically stop talking. She was less than understanding, fake, rude, and basically told us to shove it up... How is this person the manager of a upscale dining establishment?? She was a straight up liar too. She told us multiple people complained. There were only two table within 20 feet of us. One table had one diner and he talked to us for a bit, was friendly, and left. Another table had 6 guys and were definitely louder than us. I stopped by and asked if we were bothering them with our loud voices and they said no. None of them ever turned around to look at us. No one else was even within earshot and everyone was talking and laughing. This is a restaurant. Not a meditation retreat. Aren't you supposed to socialize here? Even celebrate? I paid the $430 tab after not eating our meal and as I was walking to the parking, I felt so unsettled I turned around to ask about a refund since we didn't actually eat the steak or finish the meal. The same manager, Zee (I cannot get away from her), told us to leave and that there's security?? She was so unbelievably rude and condescending. I don't know what ever we did to offend her. I did notice that we were the only Asian people in the restaurant and maybe she didn't like us speaking Mandarin. My dad also pointed out that he noticed some racist vibes from her. So much baseless hatred. She threatened to call security on me even though I had not done anything aside from ask to dispute the bill and I was very aware to keep my voice extra low at this point. What was supposed to be a happy evening of celebration turned into one of the worst nights of my life. Humiliated. Treated with complete disdain, and after spending $300 on a steak we barely touched and it's now sitting in my fridge. I cannot even look at it and I stayed up until 5am last night so upset. This is simultaneously the worst treatment and most expensive meal I've ever had the displeasure of having.
I was staying at Fontainebleau and was feeling like a steak dinner on Thursday. I didn't have a reservation but they have open seating at their bar with full dinner menu. The restaurant itself is beautiful, service is exceptional, and food was delicious. I ate the ricotta gnocchi and NY strip steak. The whole experience was lovely...until I was woken up in the middle of the night with possibly the worst food poisoning I have ever experienced. I thought about what I ate and my only meal that day was Don's Prime (time flies in Vegas). I was locked away in my hotel restroom for the next 12 hours which completely ruined the rest of my weekend as my stomach felt uneasy even after everything cleared out. I wish I was in the restroom for classic Vegas things like drinking too much but I didn't have a drop of alcohol that weekend either.
This might be my new favorite Vegas steakhouse!! The setting is old school Vegas and the servers are dressed in suits and have wonderful recommendations! I will say the Caesar was the only thing I didn't care for. But from the bread, to the steak, to the mashed potatoes, I dream about it!! We also didn't care for the baked Alaska, but I did see butter cake on the menu and would love to come back and try that! There were only three of us so we couldn't order too much, but definitely looking forward to coming back soon!!

With all the choices at la Fontainebleau my husband and I felt we made the right decision with Don's Prime last night. Although my sesame washed whisky drink missed the mark our waiter was wonderful and had the bartender make me a new drink. We love beef carpaccio, and have tried it that dozens of restaurants are around the city and this one was by far the best and the soft pillow melt in your mouth ricotta gnocchi with six hour tomato sauce was a religious experience. For entree we shared a medium rare 9oz rib cap, foie gras and broccolini. Well, the steak was wonderful. The broccolini stole the show with the tender buttery vegetable topped with fresh shaved parm. Although the restaurant was a bit loud it was mostly because it was packed on the Tuesday night but booth was cozy.
We had a business meeting over dinner at Don's Prime and I was overall impressed with the whole experience. The ambiance is warm and welcoming. The service was truly top-notch. Looking over the menu, I went with the sole. It was prepared tableside. We started with the seafood tower. Very good. For our sides, we had the lobster mac and cheese (a must try), creamed spinach, scalloped potatoes, and chopped salad (another must try). My sole was absolutely fantastic. For dessert, I went with the baked Alaska. A great old-school.dessert prepared tableside. This is a great restaurant to check out and I would definitely recommend Don's Prime. I will give it five stars.
Dinner at Don's Prime was the perfect meal on the Strip for old school vibes. We had a party of 16 but divided our group into two separate reservations. (Had inquired about a group reservation but that was not a good price point for us). These were the dishes we had at one of the tables of 8. The servers were very attentive and helpful. and so nice. We aren't big drinkers so they probably aren't use to a group like ours but we like to eat. There is also a time limit we were told and we tried to adhere to it but we were enjoying our meal so much. Our server recommended some family style options that were perfect. Between the tomahawk and porterhouse, I enjoyed the flavor of the porterhouse the most. Both were prepared very well and carved at our tables. Our sides were all wonderful. The presentation of the lobster Mac and cheese was amazing. And we did a baked Alaska for both tables just to have something sweet and the presentation of that was fun. Don's Prime is perfect for a night out with a group with wonderful steak and sides for a true Vegas experience! Price was about $175/person since we didn't have alcohol.
Don's is an old school steakhouse located in Fontainebleau. It has a pretty nice ambiance and the service was friendly and very professional. The food was good and the prices were what you'd expect of a Vegas strip resort. Overall I thought it was just ok. There are many other steakhouses in Vegas so it takes a lot to one to stand out to. It was still a good experience and I'd recommend trying it. Perfect in every way! It was so good that we went back the very next night and ordered almost the exact same dishes. The standouts were the filet mignon carpaccio, the New York steak with béarnaise sauce, and the creamed corn. The service was excellent as well. read more

I made this reservation roughly two months in advance for what was easily my most anticipated dinner of the trip -- and Don's Prime didn't just meet expectations, it crushed them. Our party arrived right on time for our 8:30 p.m. Saturday reservation and were immediately greeted and escorted to a table in the center dining room. The space was well lit with modern décor and an unmistakable upscale vibe. We were promptly welcomed by our server, drinks were ordered, bread was dropped, and we were given time to take in the menu. The bread service alone set the tone -- a slightly sweet, pull-apart monkey bread style that was outstanding. Shortly after, our table captain arrived with the server to walk us through the menu. The sommelier introduced himself without prompting and guided us through the wine list. After some discussion, he recommended several Cabs and Pinots by the glass -- including what we would choose, Crossroads and Walter Scott -- both excellent selections. For appetizers, we ordered the carpaccio, wedge salad, and crab cake. The salad was solid and the other two were 10/10. The carpaccio had a vibrant, herb-forward freshness that made it pop. And for the first time in about 25 years of food reviews and travel, I can finally say this: the crab cake came in an extremely close second only to Chef Vola's in Atlantic City, NJ -- and one person at the table thought it was even better. For entrées, we had the surf & turf (filet and lobster tail) and the salmon with a side of mashed potatoes. The filet was cooked perfectly and incredibly tender. The salmon was excellent, and the mashed potatoes were so good we joked they could've been dessert. I will absolutely return for the crab cake and mashed potatoes -- count on it. For dessert, we tried the whipped cream mousse. Unfortunately, Don's Prime has paused the tableside presentation due to space limitations, but even without the show, it delivered. Plates were left spotless. We had after-dinner plans elsewhere, so that concluded the evening. Service was 11/10. Food was 10/10. While our selections may seem "safe" or classic, I can promise you this meal was anything but ordinary -- it was next level. We will absolutely be back. read more

As a Vegas local - Don's Prime may be the most delicious steak dinner I've had in a VERY long time and that's including dining at The Golden Steer. Sorry, not sorry but I ordered take out because I didn't want to get fancied to dine in and figured I could enjoy my dinner in my room with a view of Orbi and the Strip. It was my birthday and i did what I want. And when I tell you I was blown away by the service and food - 5 stars is not enough. My experience may be rare so bear with me. I ordered & paid for: NY steak, med rare Whipped potatoes Iceberg Salad It was just me and I didn't need a spread, just my essentials. Here is what I left with: NY steak Whipped potatoes Iceberg salad Mac and cheese Pretzel breadsticks Croissant dinner roll ALL THE SAUCES And a cheesecake with berry sauce And while I waited - a lychee martini. I walked in wearing sweatpants, a basic tee, and slip ons - i was nothing special. So this service was epic for me. The hostess and gentleman who took my order were so kind and so nice. I wish I got his name, I'm thinking he's a manager of some sort because the amount of stuff I was comped couldn't have come from a basic employee card. He basically said he added everything else in there because "I WAS SO CLOSE" to having the perfect order thus all the add-ons and it's technically what he ordered for himself. I am so thankful. Like this stuff never happens to me. And as much as I thanked him, He said, "THIS IS HOW WE DO IT AT DON'S!" Now, the food. I was a little concerned when I realized I had plastic cutlery but I had to make due with what I had and was not going to call room service for silverware. And hotdogs - i didn't need to. That steak was so tender the damn plastic knife cut through that thing like it was a Japanese blade cutting butter. The flavor had fireworks going off in my soul. I didn't need no sauce to chase that steak down. The Whipped potatoes are the best I've ever had anywhere. The Mac and cheese so gooey, cheese pulls every single time, and the flavor was super balanced. Not to salty, oily, cheese, creamy - just perfect. The Iceberg salad offered more than I was expecting, and that's one dish I finished off. The croissant dinner roll was a surprise. I don't usually care for croissant hybrid crossovers but this one was savory and buttery and amazing. I wish I had soup to dip it into. I dipped the pretzel rolls into the Mac and cheese and all I was missing was a pint in a pub. The cheesecake was thick, just how I like it. Guys, 10/10. It's a steak dinner I'll never forget and it's wild to say that it was a take out order. I'll be making reservations to have a proper dine in experience soon. read more

Don's Prime, excellent Steakhouse at Fontainebleau. We'll Be Back! I first came here back in December. After trying a few of the newer steakhouses in town since then, I can confidently say this one's a winner. Service: (5/5) Attentive, professional, and exactly what you'd expect from a high end steakhouse. The service team truly delivered. Ambiance: (4/5) It leans more classic and formal in theme, somewhat rigid, but still beautifully designed. Food: (5/5) From appetizers and bread baskets to cocktails and entrées, everything was a delight. *Seafood Tower (4/5): Fresh and flavorful overall, though the clams were slightly fishy. *French Onion Soup (4/5): Rich and comforting, but could use a touch less salt. *Don's Tomahawk (5/5): Cooked to a perfect medium rare. I didn't even need the accompanying sauces, it was excellent on its own. *Sides: The grilled asparagus, wild mushrooms, and potato gratin were all standouts, flavorful and well prepared. It was a wonderful experience from start to finish. I'd definitely recommend Don's Prime if you're looking to celebrate or enjoy a special date night at Fontainebleau. read more

Best steak of my life, close second was a 3 star Michelin NIKU in Los Angeles. Snake River NY - wanted to finish every bite but was nice enough to share : ) Got the Oscar style but on the side so my son (who doesn't like seafood) could try the steak. Ended up taking Oscar style back to my room bc I couldn't get enough of this steak. Did I mention the steak was AMAZING. Did I mention get the Snake River NY. OMG!!!! Bread was awesome, so were the fries, but did I mention how great the steak was! Ok, go get the steak! I paired it with a glass of the French Cab which was a very nice and recommended pairing. Don's Prime is officially one of my favorite spots in Las Vegas. The service, attention to detail, energy, and taste make this place skyrocket to the top. We started with a croissant pull apart bread and pretzels. The croissant bread was amazing. Crispy, buttery, soft and had a great texture. I had the Sher Black Label Australian Wagyu NY Strip. It was so tender and flavorful. The perfect bite. Bone marrow is always great. Tuna tartare was solid. Table side sundae was okay, I'd skip and get the butter cake next time because it was just too good. I will be back here the next chance I get, even if it's just for dessert. The butter cake will change your life and view on dessert. Overall, this is a must visit if you are coming to Las Vegas. The other steakhouses pale in comparison when it comes to service, experience, taste, and quality. I have enjoyed each experience here and have no complaints BESIDES them removing the Baked Alaska. It was one of the best desserts I've ever had and I can't enjoy it again. However the butter cake is a MUST GET. read more

We walked in as a party of 3 at Don's Prime for a business dinner and had a fine time. It's intimate and traditional. We enjoyed the complimentary bread plate (the croissant-like loaf was memorable), steaks, and a few sides. Everything was good, but nothing truly stood out. Was this the most delicious steak dinner I've ever had? No. But it was a very nice one! read more

I liked Don's, it's definitely one of the better steakhouses on the Strip, also very nice decor. I had the dry-aged New York, which was excellent. I also added the Oscar-style, which was just okay and didn't stand out much for an additional $50. For sides, the gratin was decent but a bit watery for my taste, while the roasted wild mushrooms were really good and probably my favorite side. The only downside was the service. Our server was friendly, but it seemed like they were short-staffed. We didn't get our drinks until about 30 minutes after ordering. Service was slow, and our waiter rarely stopped by our table because he was constantly running around. We may have just caught them on an understaffed night. read more

Serves was amazing! Such an extensive wine menu which wait staff was so eager to recommend selections base on what I was going to order. We tried just about every side on the menu and it was as fantastic. I should have gotten the lobster mac and cheese another table had it and it looked worth the $98 price tag. Waitstaff let us try seasonal menu desserts as they will be going live on the menu Friday. Will be going back! read more
Classic steakhouse inside the beautiful Fontainebleau. Great service and extensive wine menu. Everything you would want and expect from a high end steakhouse is here. Crab Cake with giant lump crab meat and Caesar Salad were good. Ribeye and Ribcap were both charred and seared perfect. Good steakhouse to try if you're in the area. read more

Wow. I've had steak before, but this was TOP NOTCH. I frequent the Fountainbleu often and have never had the chance to eat here, usually because of wait time. However, after checking in to our hotel room pretty late in the evening, Don's prime was the nearest available fine dining option and with only a 30-min wait, I was ecstatic to try them out. Our hostess was very friendly and quickly sat us at the bar area. The bartender was attentive & paid attention to detail, even offering a suggestion. The food was absolutely to die for and the sommelier recommendation paired PERFECTLY with our meal. I intend to return at my next visit in Vegas, as servers were amazingly kind & service was top notch. read more

I found a hair on one of the jumbo shrimp in my seafood tower, which cost $285. I expected them to replace the entire dish with a fresh one, but instead, the staff simply took away the single shrimp and came back with a soulless apology and just two replacement pieces. Eating such an expensive seafood tower under those circumstances felt extremely unsanitary and ruined the entire experience. Since we had no idea where the hair came from or how it got onto the food, the entire plate should have been replaced. Even if you buy a five-dollar meal at McDonald's and find a hair, they either refund you or gladly give you a brand-new one with a sincere apology. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants, but paying that much money only to be treated this way completely tarnished the image of a place I once loved. I felt grossed out and questioned their hygiene standards the entire time I was eating, and I am deeply disappointed by how this was handled. read more

From the moment we sat down, everything felt refined, intentional, and indulgent. It's the kind of place where every detail matters. We started with the lobster bisque, and it was pure velvet in a bowl. Rich, buttery, perfectly balanced, and loaded with tender lobster, the kind of bisque that makes you slow down just to savor every spoonful! The pull-apart Parmesan cheese stuffed bread and warm pretzel were next-level. Fluffy, buttery, and dangerously addictive. That pretzel had the perfect chew with just the right salt finish...elevated comfort food done right! For the main event, we had the 9 oz filet mignon and WOW! Perfectly cooked, beautifully seared, melt-in-your-mouth tender. No sauce needed (though you'll want to drag every bite through whatever's left on your plate). It was steakhouse perfection. And let's talk about the mac n cheese. It was creamy, decadent, golden on top with that slight crunch. Rich but not heavy. Exactly what you want alongside a prime filet. The ambiance? Classic, upscale, and intimate without being stuffy. The service was polished, attentive, and effortless...the kind that makes you feel like a VIP without being overbearing. Don's Prime isn't just dinner; it's an experience. If you're staying at Fontainebleau or just looking for a standout steakhouse in Las Vegas, this one deserves a reservation at the top of your list. Don's Prime exceeded my expectations. The customer service was great from the hostess down to the person clearing our plates. James and Yosef were phenomenal. When you first walk in you see the bar which is aesthetically pleasing. The layout of the tables feel spacious. The food.....cooked to perfection! The Waygu was melt in your mouth, all veggies were seasoned and juicy (still with crunch, yummy.) the house bread is addicting , the chimichurri sauce was fresh, the basil vinaigrette on the salad was delicious. I really have no complaints about this place . I will definitely come back and enjoy. read more

Don's Prime? More like Don's Climb to the top of my list of favorite restaurants. I have ZERO notes--this was genuinely one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. All the food was absolutely divine--steaks, sides, appetizers, cocktails--YUM. The highlight was the service. Our servers made excellent recommendations and were absolutely hilarious. They were so kind and fun and gave us a fabulous Vegas experience. The restaurant itself is also beautiful! It was the perfect setting for our post-wedding celebration. read more

In my opinion this is the great new steakhouse on the strip - the whole meal was fantastic. We started with the seafood tower, which had all the usual suspects. All very fresh, tasty and well presented. Went with the chopped salad which is not a norm for me but a sleeper hit. Well presented and loved crispy strips and avocado on the top. The main was an American wagyu strip steak. Perfectly cooked, well seasoned and definitely a high quality cut of beef. The sides were phenomenal with a shout-out to the creamed corn with bacon. A must try! For dessert I went with the soft serve sundae. This was a treat as the ice cream was creamy with a perfect vanilla flavor. Loved all the side toppings that I could add myself. Finally, exceptional service - the waiters were super friendly and were not shy to share their recommendations. Will be back again! read more

We've been to Don's Prime twice now and let me just say that each time was perfection!! The grilled seafood platter with the lime butter is to die for! The steaks were cooked perfectly. Great service, yummy food and really nice people! Reservations are a MUST. We were here on a Monday night and ate at 5 pm. After we left, the place was packed. It was just 2 of us so we shared. Classic Cesar salad, Bone-in Ribeye, Potato gratin and crispy brussel sprouts. Logan and Joe were amazing. They had funny stories and offered great suggestions. I wish we had saved room for dessert. We saw another table get Chocolate Mousse prepared table side!! They even have a smoked Smores type dessert. We had to walk off our meal, but when we came back around 8pm, the restaurant was so full! Another great experience at Dons Prime. Stacy made it extra special by remembering us and the Manager Mark was very welcoming and accommodating. The wife and I were joined by two friends for dinner on a Saturday night at Don's Prime. We were on a mission to sample some of Las Vegas' best Tomahawk steak offerings from steakhouses across of the valley. Don's Prime inside the Fontainebleau was our first stop. Don's Prime is a beautiful space with a modern feel but a classic, retro look that felt like a nod to the Rat Pack era. Since the Don's Tomahawk, a 40 oz cut of dry-aged beef, was our centerpiece to the meal, we also had the Roasted Bone Marrow as a starter, and Creamed Spinach, Macaroni & Cheese, and Roasted Wild Mushrooms as our shared sides. We paired our meal with a couple of bottles of 2012 Chateau Malartic Lagraviere. Our meal started off with bread. The pretzel twist/roll was excellent. The bone marrow followed and was the best representation of roasted bone marrow that I've had in a long while. Our steak was brought out to our table and sliced table-side. It was cooked to our requested medium rare, perfectly seasoned, and was wonderfully tender and flavorful. I enjoyed all of the sides, but to varying degrees. I really enjoyed the creamed spinach topped with a fried egg and thought it was the best of the sides we ordered. The roasted mushrooms were good; no better, no worse than others that I've had. The mac & cheese, while still good, was probably my least favorite of the three sides. I liked the choice of Campanelle pasta as it really grabbed hold of the tasty white cheddar bechamel, but I prefer my mac & cheese to be a tad bit saucier. It ate a bit "dry". I won't lie. I wasn't expecting to find a bottle of wine that I'd want to drink at a price that I'd want to pay especially since Don's wine list was chock-full of the Napa cult favorites as well as the most sought-after names from Bordeaux, Burgundy, and beyond. Needless to say, I was very pleasantly surprised to find a wine that my wife and I love from a chateau that we had actually visited at a price that I found to be reasonable given Strip prices. I knew Don's Prime was going to be good, but the night exceeded my expectations. The food and wine service team was impeccable. The food was outstanding. The atmosphere was classy yet cool. Don's Prime proved to definitely not be a cheap night out, but I thought it was worth the splurge. read more

Fontainebleau's Premier Steakhouse Don's steakhouse has great ambiance, and it hits you as you walk into the foyer with its chic bar on the right. It just invites you in with the lounge chairs, though it's a bit tight in a kinda cozy way. But how is the food as good a the reviews say it is? If you're the discerning and well-traveled steak lover like me, you may want to consider a few pro tips. Bottom line up front, Don's is great for the tableside show, but the more discerning palate may get a bit overwhelmed if ordering isn't done tactically. The Tomahawk. For $245, this is their premier cut. A wet aged steak, and unfortunately, it was not available as dry-aged. That said, the wet aging process coupled with the trendy beef tallow they throw on their makes for some juicy meat. The tallow (compare to Smith & Wollensky) and the finishing salt (didn't ask, but I assume Malden) is all part of the fancy but subdued table side carving service. Definitely gram-worthy stuff. But. The salt. The steak is already rubbed with some decent salty seasoning, but then the addition of the finishing salt sends the salt meter up pretty high. This makes for some serious salt headaches if you don't drink plenty of water and don't order the right sides. Can only recommend both without said finishing salt AND less salty sides. Be warned that the steak will cool pretty quickly and came out warm instead of hot (compare to Peter Luger's heated plate). Creamed spinach. Nice flavor and touch with a halved Scotch egg. However, too salty as a side to go with the tomahawk with finishing salt. Recommend only if you lose the finishing salt and pick a lower salt side to pair with it. Potato gratin. We debated this or the puree potatoes. This might be the worse option because it was too salty. Salt is not just in the cheese crust but throughout the potato itself. This tells me they added extra salt. Can only recommend if you get the tomahawk without the finishing salt. Do not recommend with the creamed spinach since it will be too salty together. Mushrooms. Must order because not saucy and very lightly salted. As such, you can pair this side with anything else. Mousse. Served table side, the spectacle is worth some pics. However, I cannot recommend because the mousse itself was a bit lacking in chocolatey flavor. Texture was more crumbly than expected, which is fine. But the issues lies in the toppings, which include cherries in a cherry sauce, a vanilla cream, and chocolate chips. Overall just too sweet and sugary and not enough authentic chocolate taste. Free bread. You get a nice pull apart bread with pepper and a pretzel bread -- also naturally salty. Tasty and buttery. Really buttery. Recommend. Overall, while I wanted so badly to at least rate Don's a four, it's really a solid 3. Service overall okay but nothing special. We had two different servers, which I thought was cool though. Because of the excessive salt and the so-so dessert, I can only give a so-so thumbs up. If you go here, please use caution in ordering. Maybe you'll get a different experience, but for reference, the table agreed that Peter Luger's kills this place -- which might explain why it's a touch harder to get a good table there anyway. read more

This was an exceptional experience. The service was out of sight. It was my birthday so it was a memorable experience. I had a ceasar salad it was delicious but I was surprised with the fish anchovies. I had the seafood platter which had scallops, shrimp and crab legs. They have an extensive wine list. Delicious! First, I must start with our server, Mike! He was absolutely amazing and will be ranked one of my top servers of all times. We were seated in a cozy booth. The food was delicious and freshly prepared. I love that there was an option for smoked drinks, so my husband opted for a smoked old fashioned--great pour! Our steaks were tender, juicy, and seasoned well. Dessert was just okay, the whipped cream on the chocolate mousse was sad, more of watery milk and not fluffy, cloudy, whipped cream. A very nice steakhouse. We had my bday dinner there. First time here and it will not be our last. We were staying at the hotel and wanted to enjoy a restaurant within the hotel. DP did not disappoint. It was warm and cozy restaurant as soon as you enter. The bar has plenty of seats if you did not have reservation or go for a drink. Service was perfect. We had James and Josep. The busboy was on point as well. The three of them did not miss a beat on the service for our table. We brought our own wine and corkage was $50 for 750ml. We like our 2018 Daou to enjoy with our steak. Although the steak was not completely as we liked it to be prepared, we did communicate it, and they removed the charge of the dessert for that hiccup. Don's Prime does it again! Had some friends in town from TX, and they sure know their meat out there, so wanted to make sure I recommended a great experience. Don's did not disappoint. We started with the crab cake, which had good chunks of crab meat, but we all thought the flavoring with the orange/fennel salad and more of a pesto-esque sauce felt off. Regardless, we then had the Tomahawk, Lobster Mac & Cheese, potatoes au gratin, and broccolini and everything was incredible including the presentation of our feast. The ambiance is dark but not too dark that you can't see your food. And the noise level was just right. Most classic steak restaurants go for the max intense flavor with maximum tenderness that are defined with dry-aged steaks. Where wet-aging is mostly a newer process with vacuum sealed bags as they give a milder flavor and the jury is still out…
What is the Dresss code?
Hudson is spot on with his answer. I think any restaurant in Vegas though can appreciate the patron who "dresses" for dinner.... A lost art on the Las Vegas Strip over time.
