I am out of town for a work trip in a suburb of Louisiana - I decided to hit up Don's Seafood for dinner the evening I landed and also the evening after. Both nights I sat at the bar, and had outstanding service and DELICIOUS food ! I've never been to Louisiana before, so my first evening Alexandria and Victoria were my servers and they were super attentive and sweet ! Alexandria taught me how to eat my first crawfish EVER and also introduced me to cooked oyster (yum!!). My second evening, I had Tina. She was very nice and hospitable - always making sure I was good on my drinks and food. I highly recommend this establishment and will def be back if I happen to venture to this area of the country again ! read more

My husband and I were planning to be in Covington for one night; we hoped for some good Cajun seafood. We picked the Shrimp Dinner because we could get shrimp so many different ways. The Jacked Up Shrimp was excellent! The rest was very very meh. Very disappointing. I'm a state known for fabulous food, there are better options. We were staying in Covington for Mardi Gras weekend and I wanted to get me some real gumbo. Well this place delivered. The seafood gumbo was delicious. My friend didn't finish her burger so I tried it and wow it was one delicious burger. My other friend go the oysters and these oysters were huge!!! Great staff and very friendly. read more

We are very pleased to have eaten at Don's Seafood. When we walked in we were welcomed by friendly hostesses. Our server Charlene walked us to a cozy table in the corner, near the TV's just in time for the LSU game. My husband ordered Grilled stuffed Shrimp, stuffed with crab meat, Green beans , and a stuffed potato. I ordered the Stuffed Catfish, stuffed with shrimps and crab meat, green beans, and mashed Potatoes. We also had the Seafood Spinach dip. "Boy Oh Boy" the food was "totally of the Chang". Really we have never had anything like it. Nothing needed anything added too it or taken away. The Green beans were full of a smoke house flavor from the bacon. The Mashed Potatoes were so buttery. Everything was delicious. We enjoyed our meals and our server Charlene was absolutely wonderful. We will definitely be back again. Don's is a great place for a family dinner night. I am a local and we love this restaurant, especially after mass on Sundays. The new inside and additional outside waiting areas are nice and enjoyable to visit with whoever you are with while you wait. I had the seafood gumbo today, it's one of my favorite items to order - summer or winter. I usually order a house salad on the side. Their house salad is a step above other restaurants and it helps me not to eat too many appetizes (calorie consciousness person writing this). Our service is always great, I guess we are never behind a big table. Today our server was Hailey B. She is very friendly and willing to go beyond to make sure our meal was 100%. I like that we usually sit in the same general area each time we visit and usually see the same waitstaff. It makes it seem like we know most of the servers and it's nice to get recognized. I recommend this restaurant because of all the menu items, atmosphere and service. I hesitate to say the only item I would not order is the shrimp poorboy. For a tourist this is not the traditional chewy poorboy bread and it is not loaded like others are. Everything else is 100%! read more

Four nights ago it was catfish over rice with crawfish étouffée over the top and the seafood platter for my husband! Again great food and fantastic service! The blackened alligator for the appetizer is fucking phenomenal. Also, if you get the ribeye, make sure you get it blackened it is really good and I enjoyed the blood orange margarita very tasty. I thought this might be a tourist trap but the food was really good. FYI only place you're going to be able to get blackened alligator because everywhere else they serve fried and if you really want to get an authentic taste of alligator and enjoy it get it blackened, not fried. read more

Dayna and Bryce are rockstars, it was fun to be around them. Seafood gumbo is on point, I liked the smoky flavor. Next up was grilled oysters who I had are addictive yet delicious. My meal was the filet, which was perfectly cooked med rare, with red beans. They are some of the best red beans I've ever had. Looking for good seafood in the New Orleans suburb and found good seafood along with great service! Food: my meal started with a cup of gumbo followed by fried catfish along with red beans and rice and finished with pecan pie which I think is the perfect southern meal! The seafood gumbo had shrimp and crab. It was good but not the best in the NOLA area. Dons served a good portion of catfish with 4 long slices. Some places serve small pieces of catfish. The red beans and rice were AMAZING! Yes, amazing. I was surprised how flavorful this beans were with chunks of ham. I ate all my beans and rice. The meal was quite big and I had a lot of catfish left over. The pecan pie was served hot but it was served in pieces. I prefer that my pie looks like a piece of pie. Service: excellent! Our server was attentive, communicative and friendly. She brought our dishes while they were still hot. Very little waiting around and she asked us twice if we needed anything while we were eating which is a decent amount of interruption. Price: my meal of catching and beans were $14 which isn't bad considering it's large size and leftovers. I posted menus with the prices so please see them for specifics. Location: suburbs of New Orleans. Dons is on a major road and has tons of parking which is perfect. Overall, I'd come back! read more
