This is a nice little independent donut shop, with a down to earth and homey feel. They have a great selection, and while I keep reading that people are upset the kinds aren't labeled, the person who waits on you can fill you in on all the delicious kinds! Wow - this place is AWESOME. I brought these into work and EVERYONE loved them. These donuts taste as great as they look. The only thing they could change is to have all the flavors available first thing in the morning but I accept when you are getting food that fresh and tasty not everything can be ready at once. This place is rockin' it. The donuts are fresh and big and have that old fashioned yeast taste. They need to work on their icing as it is a little flakey and more like hard sugar. However, the donut dough makes up for it. Very friendly people, decent prices, a must see. read more

We got breakfast here on our way into downtown Chicago. I got an apple fritter and a chocolate cake donut, and my husband got a chocolate iced donut. They were fresh and delicious and the apple fritter was huge. I didn't get a chance to eat the cake donut until the next day, but it was still fresh. Very tasty! read more

Very, very solid donut. Good variety. Fresh. Super friendly staff. Coffee is actually pretty good (someone on Yelp didn't like it - I am a bit of a coffee snob and usually burr grind/pour-over brew my own, and I thought it was more than acceptable). If I want doughnuts I will go out of my way to visit the Donut Drop. Have tried most of their chocolate variants and some of the specialties like the red velvet. My favorite would have to be the glazed double chocolate. Always freshly made and the donuts are pretty freaking big. Price is very good for the quality. Try to get there early though because they have run out of some of the varlets due to popularity. Still not brave enough yet to try the specialty doughnut that has bacon but it smells and looks so good. I consider myself a picky donut connoisseur, and I really do love good donuts. I do not care for the fluffy Krispy-Kreme style donuts, instead good cake donuts are my thing. Donut drop has a really good apple fritter ring, but the cake donuts are not crispy or particularly fresh tasting. The boston cream donut was enormous but had only 2 tablespoons of cream inside. I could have eaten 60% of the donut with no filling, honestly. Country donuts is still my local winner! read more
