In the midst of Black Friday at 7am, I think I FINALLY found my new favorite donut shop. Growing up in South San Francisco, I had a local favorite that I had been going to since I was a little kid. Now that I live in the Sac area, I had to find a new donut shop. I always find that great donut shops are hard to find. I feel like most of them get all their donuts from one huge baking factory that serves the entire state of California! So it's like seeing the same exact pastries at every single mom & pop donut shop. The first thing that caught my eye was the fruit roll. It looks like a freeze dried rolled up dessert crepe with glazing on the wrapper. ABSOLUTE HEAVEN! I had the blueberry flavor but it also comes in raspberry and lemon. The Mr. had a Bavarian cream bar with chocolate icing and he said it was quite tasty as well. Another pastry that got my attention was the braided bar with chocolate icing and chocolate chips sprinkled on top. I'm sure it tastes as good as it looks. They also had fruit pastries that were so deep full of fruit it almost looked like a mini bowl made of a pastry with a cup of fruit inside. Their bear claws looked HUGE with very distinct swollen toes, kinda like the Vienna Sausage toes that a woman gets after wearing 4 inch heels the whole night. The appeal of this place isn't necessarily their donuts (although they're ok) but that you can satisfy your sweet craving any time of the day or night, 24/7 with a donut from a real donut shop and not 7-11. I went sometime in the late afternoon during the week. No other customers. Guy helping me was fast and served me with a half smile. The place is old but clean, and there was still a nice variety to choose from. Took my donuts home and they tasted fresh. I'd definitely go back for more, but only at a time when my other favorite donut shops are closed. I do not understand the point of being a 24 hr donut shop if you arent making donuts round the clock. First visit here with a friend (we both had a late night sweet tooth) and what a disappointment. The case had two muffins and a few dozen donuts in it - the kind that get left uneaten in the breakroom because your coworkers took all the good donuts from the pink box. I dont usually expect much from a 24 hr establishment but since they arent actually baking donuts all day it would be a good idea to at least clean the tables off. This place was dirty and when we realized we couldnt find a table without crumbs on the seat and a sticky tabletop we left. Oh well. Not much parking here but that's ok because the service is quick and easy! There's a large variety of donuts here from bear claws, blueberry, eclairs, twists, plain etc. The man was very friendly and welcoming. When i first got through the door, he was already putting out trays of fresh donuts! If i'm ever in the area again, i'll definitely come back to this place for a donut fix! I also ordered a croissant filled with ham and cheese amd one with strawberries and cream cheese . Both never made it into my box . They also had prefilled donut holes on the counter .
