I of course, got the princess cake. The other one was the raspberry. I didn't know the other one that they offered was hazelnut. I would have chose the hazelnut over the raspberry hehhe Both were delicious. Really enjoyed the princess cake. The top green part was pretty sweet if eating it by itself. The mango had the perfect balance of tart and creamy. It wasn't too heavy, and it's easy to finish one by yourself. I also tried the pistachio, and it was really good too! It's nutty with a strong pistachio flavor, and again, not overly sweet. It even has little chunks of pistachio throughout, which adds a nice texture. If you love pistachio, this is definitely the one to get. I would definitely come back and try some of their other flavors!

The orange was the best of the group but overall just a disappointing experience once again because these are not cheap. I'm starting to think I might just have to give up my journey to find these although there are some places in Vegas that look promising. I don't think Reno has any bakeries that make these. Helms has a fascinating history. In 1932 their bread, Olympic Bread, was declared the official bread of the Olympic Games. This led to worldwide recognition. Delivery wagons, or coaches, brought bread, doughnuts and other baked goods to Angelenos' homes with their slogan, "Daily at Your Door." Helms was the bread that astronauts in Apollo 11 took to the moon. World Famous. I have been coming here since they opened and I will say that every service person I've encountered has been so nice, thoughtful and gracious From the outside, you would never guess how quaint and European it feels inside. For anyone who travels abroad frequently will feel right at home here. One of the other best things is their refrigerator case with the most amazing food packed, and ready to go . A traditional authentic French baguette is made with a poolish, but many bakeries around LA use a levain in their baguettes. While baguettes made with levains yield a delicious sourdough flavor, but a baguette made with poolish produces a sweet, complex yet simple, nutty flavor. It's sooo good! My only wish is a more crusty outer layer, but nothing a toaster can't fix! I also picked up a kouign-amann and pecan cookie. Both were very yummy! You know what else is great? The prices! my baguette, cookie, and pastry was $13 including a 18% tip. Honestly, something like that would cost closer to $20 at other bakeries. Overall, this place is worth a visit! Check it out.

I also just discovered they have a storefront nearby, which was a pleasant surprise! I'm excited that I don't have to wait for the farmers market whenever I'm craving one of their delicious pastries.
