Although it was the place to be, I did notice that ordering and pick up was a bit unorganized. I think it would have been more efficient if one person was ringing up the orders, and the other two people were collecting the orders. I mentioned that because when it was our turn to order, we received two significantly different prices for the cake that we were interested in. Of course, the cake ended up being the higher of the two prices. For our order we went with the tres leches cake. It was kind of interesting because I've never seen (or made) tres leches in a cake form; I've only seen it served in a pan so the excess milk would not leak out of the cake. That said, the cake was AMAZING. It was so amazing that one of party guest who isn't a fan of cakes/desserts went back for seconds. I definitely look forward to trying more items from this bakery. Interestingly enough, I really want to try the bakery's roll. I said this because most of the folks picking up orders were picking up trash bags full of these rolls.

Throughout the weekend, I tasted the pastries, and I thought all of the were pretty delicious. Unfortunately, I do not know which pastries I purchased because many were not labeled. To be honestly, I completely picked the pastries at random. One of the things that I enjoyed about the pastries: none of them were overly sweet. For me, they had just the right amount of sweetness, which might be considered bland for others. The bakery is kind of small, in terms of dining in, because it has about 2-3 small tables. However, the bakery seems more like a place to grab food (or pick up orders) and go. While eating, I was the only one who actually ate their food inside of the restaurant. I thought the two women behind the counter were exceptionally nice. Also, interacting with them gave me a chance to practice my Spanish. Overall, I thought this was a great random find, and I'm looking forward to returning and trying some more of their delicious pastries and other platos fuertes.

The service experience was quite memorable and funny. There were differences in language barriers, but we still made it work out in the end. I ended up spending $43.20 total and got: Brazo gitanos $2.75, torta $3, pan de pina $1, steak egg and cheese sandwich $10.75, tipico platter $14, flan $5.50, pork & cheese pupusa $2.75, and chicken & cheese pupusa $3.50. Also, I was excited to try the tres leches, but they didn't have any at the time. - The brazo gitanos is like a pound cake with a cherry/strawberry swirl, and it was alright. - The torta was my favorite bakery item as it tasted the best, and was elevated further when I warmed it up. - The pan de pina is a Spanish pastry with pineapple "jam" in the center, and it was alright. - The steak egg and cheese sandwich was my favorite item. The Spanish bread paired well with the ingredients to create a great flavor with every bite. - The tipico platter was decent, but I wish I had gotten more portions of the chorizo because the portion I got was limited. One thing that makes it truly amazing is combining all of the platter items on their homemade tortillas to create a sensational taco of taste and flavor. - I'm not a fan of flan (it's alright), but theirs was pretty decent. - The pupusas (pork & cheese and chicken & cheese) were great, and they might just be the best pupusas I've had. Overall, I enjoyed my experience at El Sabor. I would recommend it and be open to returning (maybe next time they will have tres leches available).

I was nervous to try this place because of the lower reviews but my craving for donuts and the reasonable prices made me to decide to take a chance . I ordered a truly assorted dozen (no 2 were the same), sprang the extra cents for a few of the filled flavor, and a cup of the DK blend coffee. I was pleasantly surprised by how good the donuts were. They were soft, fresh and tasty. They definitely checked all the boxes and satisfied my craving. The honey dip and sprinkle donuts were run of the mill but got the job done! They weren't cloyingly sweet...the chocolate flavor definitely was reminiscent of Enteman's to me. The filled donuts stepped up the game. I had raspberry and lemon) and they were well filled (with filling in every bite) and had the perfect balance of tart and sweetness to complement the dark and flavorful cup of coffee I ordered to accompany them (Good strong Black Coffee and complimentary doughnuts is a win in my book). Now...the cake doughnuts and sour cream doughnuts were *superb*. Nothing average about them and some of the best I've had in awhile. The crumb was light, airy and fluffy. When I clarified, instead of extending a small courtesy to a regular customer, he stopped and ran a separate credit card transaction for $2.65, the full price of a beverage, for an empty cup. I had already paid for my bottled beverage. It's not solely about the money. It's about what that gesture communicates to your customer. A $0.25 cup given as a goodwill gesture goes a long way. A separate $2.65 charge for an empty cup does the opposite. The food and early open time will keep bringing me back. But management should keep in mind that it's the small things that turn regulars into occasional visitors.

Everything was fresh, flavorful, and filling, making for a great start to the day. My only small critique is that I wish the breakfast potatoes had been a little crispier, but they were still good. Overall, I'd give the meal an 8/10. The prices are about what you'd expect compared to the bigger breakfast chains, but I'd much rather support a local business. If you're looking for a solid, no-frills breakfast in the Gaithersburg area, Ann's Cafe is definitely worth checking out.
