So... having been to Paula's doughnuts a couple times, I would say I prefer this place to Paula's (I don't understand the craze about Paula's doughnuts). The store is super clean and modern and it's open 24/7 (or at least during the warmer months). When we visited, the sign said they close for midnight to 5am for the winter. They have a big tv and about at least 7-8 tables. They also have stool seats next to the entrance as well. The doughnuts are displayed in half-closed cases, which I really appreciated. I'm not a huge fan of some bakeries and doughnut places just leaving their breads and pastries out in the open for hours and hours. We tried the chocolate glazed doughnut and the red velvet doughnut, and they were both good. The doughnuts are softer/more moist in texture than Tim Horton's or Dunkin, and a lot less greasier than Paula's. The red velvet was on the sweeter side, but the chocolate glazed was just right. First of all this place is clean, clean, clean. Bathroom were extremely clean. I had a breakfast sandwich, ordered a lunch sandwich to go for my travels and two donuts. Coffee was wonderful. I should have checked out these donuts long along. I'm very happy I've finally corrected this after moving to Amherst. We woke up debating between Paula's and Donut Kraze. Now I know I may have pitchforks at my door for this opinion, but I think Paula's is a little overrated. Donut Kraze is for anyone who may agree with me. With most donuts only a buck, it's a fantastic deal that can't be passed up. We went with Combo 1- donut, medium coffee, and make your own breakfast sandwich for about $6. After reviewing yelp reviews, clearly the maple donut was trending so that was my choice. My girlfriend got a blueberry donut. Both donuts weren't massive like Paula's, but they weren't tiny. The most impressive part was the moisture of these donuts. They were so soft and melted as soon as they hit the mouth. It's like every single one was freshly baked. Breakfast sandwich was also quality (honesty didn't expect that). My only complaint was that the bagel was a little rough. Will be back to try more donuts! read more

So if I had to pick sides between the Donut Kraze and Paula's Donuts battle, I would hands-down suit up for battle to defend thy Donut Kraze empire. Donut Kraze has regular'ish sized donuts. Not as small as Tim's or Dunkin', not as mammoth as Paula's. Just the right amount of gluttony. And I really think because they're sized right, they're fluffier, moister (sorry), and smoother than gargantuan Paula's donuts, which must have to cook longer due to their sheer magnitude, and dry them out. The donut flavors themselves are sweet and decadent, what you'd hope for when calorically splurging on fried cake'y goodness. Donut Kraze has plenty of traditional offerings and some more zany; my son LOVES the maple bacon, I love a good ole' cherry chip or the lemon meringue, our daughter loves the red velvet, the hub'ster digs the jelly stick, my mom demands a half-dozen of their cheese donuts on her birthday (they have a velvety cheesecake'esque filling that is divine). The shop itself is a comfortable place to sit for a while with a cup of coffee and a basket of belt-loosening treats. I was thinking about trying to get to Paula's since they had just reopened, but the line was extremely long and I could tell the traffic of cars moving in and out was super busy.... so I actually went to Donut Kraze since I think it's better than Paula's anyway! I love the cake-y donuts and I got 4 of them to try: blueberry, cherry, chocolate, and a special birthday cake (complete with funfetti inside!). My favorite by far was the cherry. It had such a wonderful depth of the cherry flavor and I loved how beautiful the light pink color was. It was delicious! All 4 of my donuts had a nice soft texture with a fresh taste. You definitely can't find that at Dunkin' or Timmy's and even Paula's donuts get a heavy dense taste to them. These Donut Kraze donuts are super light and fluffy, though. Wow what a joke. Our group of friends came here to hang out after graduation, we were the only ones in the entire restaurant, and not being rude or disruptive at all. We were talking loudly and laughing, but nothing abnormal. Multiple times the woman staff member literally yelled at us and asked us to keep it down or leave. We really couldn't believe it. I once volunteered my time at Buffalo's Old Penn Central Train Station over there on Paderewski Drive In Buffalo, N.Y. When I think Buffalo and Donuts, a lot of people thing Paula's, but this is other favorite when I'm tired of Paula's and want something different but want donuts. This location is better than their Buffalo location to me. I will be visiting this location more moving forward. Easy parking when I get there around 8pm, since it has a private lot you can park at. Tons of flavors to choose from, all looked fresh and inviting. They also have coffee, ice cream and nice seating options too! I got the red velvet with creme cheese, Raspberry turnover, a peanut butter filled out and a cream cheese filled out. All were very good, but I think the turnover and the cream cheese filed donut has to be my favorite right now. I am sure I will have other favorites when I go back and try other flavors. So you can get donuts from a lot of different places. However this place is not like everywhere else. First being open 24 hours is fantastic, but actually making donuts to order was a huge surprise to me. My wife and I went in there and she ordered a cannoli donut and a peaches and cream donut and both of them were made to order. The filling of the donuts was super full, super tasty and it was worth eating them as soon as we got home. The location in Tonawanda is really clean, the workers were so friendly, and offered us some ice cream and donut options. I am also a huge fan of the Krazy Donuts they offer, especially the Maple Bacon with cream. I highly recommend it! They have different creations, all of which cost extra but they are so worth it. You can tell they truly cared about every detail. You are instantly greeted by the employees when you enter. They were extremely busy, which was expected for their opening week. The owners are the most kind hearted and hard working family you will meet. They were personally coming out to meet their customers and welcome people to their place. The donuts! If you try anything at all, MAKE SURE YOU TRY THE MAPLE BACON. I can't stress this enough. The maple is so amazing. It's not overpowering and honestly the best maple flavored anything, I've ever tasted. The bacon on top, is actual cooked bacon. It's cooked perfectly. Crispy and not too burnt. It looked amazing, but what did it have to offer? This is the story of Donut Kraze, a business I have tried to draw a map to since I first discovered it! After my last visit to La Divina, I set out in the hopes of finding a satisfying dessert. So I adventured, with hiphop serenading the open window drive, across town to where I swear I had previously passed a local donut shop. After a few lights and some false turns, I stumbled upon their location and quickly slid into the private off-street parking lot. The painted sign in the window said they were open 24/7. I jumped out of the car and headed in through the door. I was quickly greeted by Amy. We chatted, and came to an agreement that my friend and I would pick out 3 donuts and she would pick the 4th. We settled on banana, blueberry, strawberry shortcake, and apple donuts. We expressed an interest in eating at a table and were given baskets to hold our donuts, silverware so we could share, and cups of ice water. Kudos Amy, you were extremely accommodating and fun to interact with. We grabbed the grub and headed to a table near the fireplace and large screen TV. The interior was clean, felt trendy, and had a relaxed vibe to it. As we dug into the donuts we offered criticism and reviews through hushed tones. Amy stopped by to see how we were enjoying the experience and let us know about the free WIFI. I connected, checked in to Yelp (of course), thanked her, and went back to enjoying the donuts. Enjoying is perhaps an understatement. These donuts were amazing. Cake like. Delicious. Perfectly cooked. What a treat it was to have something freshly made by someone who obviously cares about catering to the sweet tooth of Buffalo. I've since driven by again and found that they had not disappeared. Today was feeling like a "treat yourself" type of day, and I say no regrets to my early morning indulge. Donut Kraze is very close to my work, and I took a gamble to see if I could make it there and back in a short break. Very happy to say that I was in and out within a few minutes. The restaurant is very cozy, the dim lighting and delicious smells as soon as you walk in made me never want to leave. The donuts are all lined up in a glass case, making it easy to view them, though nothing could make it easier to decide which one you want, they all look amazing! I chose my donut shop favorite, granulated sugar with jelly, and after reading numerous reviews, I decided I needed to also try the Maple Bacon. The jelly donut was extremely fresh and super delicious. I don't usually like the textured jelly, sometimes it can taste like jello stuffed in a donut, but this jelly was amazing. It was also a great sized donut, not too big, not too small. The Maple Bacon, I must admit, I probably would've never ordered if I didn't read the reviews first, but I'm so glad I did. It tasted like breakfast. Perfect balance of sweet and salty, and even tasted a little buttery. Simply delicious. It was extremely rich though, I was only able to take a few bites, so you may want to keep that in mind if you are ordering more than one. I ordered an iced coffee as well, which they put your add in's for you which I always appreciate, and they have a liquid Splenda machine which was awesome. The coffee was great, and they didn't make it too sweet, which was a good balance to the donuts. The woman working was very sweet and friendly. I've been obsessed with Paula's since moving to Buffalo six months ago, and after perusing Donut Kraze's Yelp reviews and pics, it looked like Paula's might have some competition for my affections. Apparently not! Okay, okay. Donut Kraze isn't terrible. It has a diverse selection of donuts, a cozy fireplace, and very friendly service. Unfortunately, that's where my praises end. Now on to the donuts. We ordered a Maple Bacon and a Cherry Glazed. I had extremely high hopes for the Maple Bacon, but it turned out to be nothing special. The maple frosting was successful, but the bacon and creme filling did nothing for me and definitely weren't worth the calories. Anyway, I would give this donut 3 stars at best. The real problem was with the Cherry Glazed donut. It had the worst texture I've ever experienced in a donut...so gummy! I don't know if this particular batch of dough was under-baked or if this is their standard, but it was very off-putting and ruined a doughnut whose flavor actually had some potential.
