The decor is a win for me. The visual appeal of the doughnuts is just eye candy. The colours and shapes make it seem amazing. I recommend coming in extremely early or it's a hit or miss for the rest of the day because families with children would come, and they do not know anything about social distancing, so be warned. Also, the staff seemed to be under pressure. Other than that, they seem happy to help and whip you a drink which has the best coffee in the west end of Alameda. It seems to cater to different types of doughnuts on different days. I saw the Homer Simpson doughnut and I had too. My brother wants an oreo but was not there. They do sell out quick; some faster and slower than on other days. I enjoy coming here on my morning walks with the dog and surprising a friend or loved one with a nice sweet treat. So I did not actually pay for these donuts, so I cannot comment on prices or customer service. But I can comment on quality and value. How do we evaluate donuts? As True Yelpers or the Yelp Elite, we must know how to review the donut. 1) Freshness- (4/5): These donuts were fresh, made the same day. 2) Taste- (5/5): Nice distinct flavor, not sugary sweet. You see apple, you taste apple. You see chocolate, you get the distinct characteristics of chocolate frosting. 3) Not Boring (4/5): The design and appearance of the donut makes you excited to bite into it. A simple glazed raised donut is predictable, you sort of know what to expect. But a donut with a unique frosting, sprinkles, and a cream filling....what's this going to taste like? Some of these donuts were interesting to try. 4) Value-(4/5): Hard for me to judge because I didn't pay for them, they were a gift. But I saw the prices online. These are unique donuts, made by hand. Quality, design and flavor are superior to the local competition. Who's the competition? Lee's Donuts at Neptune Plaza, Hometown Donuts, and the local 7-11. But if you like it, it's worth the price. Such a cute bakery! My boyfriend and I like to eat brunch next door and have passed by donut petit before. But the other Day we passed by we saw they had a lavender special flavor for the day. I couldn't pass up it and we decide a to take a look. The bakery is so cute and there were so many good flavors, we ended up just getting the vast lavender and rose water. The donuts itself was pretty good! Soft and fluffy! But the flavor of lavender and rose water were very subtle. I got a mixture of donuts consisting of: Bavarian Cream Cronut - This was delicious. Light and airy with a custard cream and topped with strawberry. Le Macaron - a chocolate glazed donut with cream and topped with a chocolate macaron. Powdered Cinnamon Sugar - good light and fluffy. Pineapple Filled - glazed with hole filled with a pineapple filling Cinnamon and Strawberry Mochi Sugar - both were good, but not special to ones elsewhere. If you need a place to sit and eat donuts as you drink coffee, this is a cute spot. It gets crowded during certain times but the crowd quickly goes away as their donuts/coffee is ordered. The interior is a cute setting. There were three staff available and they were ok. One of them do seem to know more and seemed to be quicker with questions and making the beverages. I do wish they put napkins and utensils out for us to grab. Their utensils are sealed in plastic so I think it would've been okay to leave them out. I had to get up a few times during the busy periods to ask for napkins and utensils. We ordered cappuccino and an iced coffee. They were your standard coffees. Not bad but not the best I've ever had. If you need things sweetened, you need to ask beforehand since we got ours with no added sugar. Honestly, the donuts are quite sweet, so you won't need sweet coffee. Trust me lol. If you get iced coffee, make sure you ask for less ice because they put a lot of ice. Now, the donuts! Donuts are very pretty. The lavender and rose donuts were sadly disappointing. They were like glazed donuts with frosting. The lavender on top of the donut is the part where the taste is but it isn't spread evenly so only one bite had the lavender taste. The rose donut was just a typical donut. The mochi chocolate donut tasted very odd. I wouldn't recommend it lol. The pumpkin and strawberry shortcake was the best though - highly recommend those. The glazed donut was really sweet. Throughout the duration of our visit, we heard a lot of freebies given to people. I'm honestly not sure why and how that happens. When we left, one of us said bye and thank you, but the staff didn't respond. It felt awkward lol All in all, I would likely be back only for the strawberry shortcake and pumpkin donut if I am craving them. Everything else was okay, not too bad but not very good lol. There's a small parking lot next door so you don't have to worry about street parking. I got there around 11am on a Sunday and there was a line that took around 20 minutes. They only allow 1 party in at a time with up to 4 guests in each party. It was raining and cold today. Luckily for me, few people wanted to wait in the rain for donuts. After driving around for a parking spot, I only had to wait for one person in front of me who was already inside the store. They allow one party at a time. Inside, the donuts were so pretty that it felt like I was transported to being a little girl again surrounded by colorful petite donuts that remind me of a tea party. I was there about 10AM and they already ran out of the Strawberry Flat donuts that have slices of strawberries inside and cream. That was my first choice. I chose a guava filled donut and a Boston Cream donut. The guava donut was my favorite, the guava filling was lush and reminded me of the tropics. The donut itself was soft. The Boston Cream donut had really nice tiny chocolate chips on top that added great texture but the donut's custard was too sweet and overall, it was a boring donut. Yesterday was the first time I've ever stopped by Donut Petit. When I arrived around 10 a.m., there were only two parties in line ahead of us, but by the time we reached the front of the line, the line had grown to over 10 parties. This place is popular! The donut selection at Donut Petit is vast. I tried to limit myself to only picking out a single donut for breakfast but ended up getting two, as the flavors were simply too good to pass up. The donuts here are certainly smaller in size than your corner store donut joint, but the freshness and variety of the donuts, combined with the ambience of the shop and the friendly staff more than make up for that. If you're looking for novelty donuts, look no further. Novelty donuts galore. The cereal-topped donuts are fun, though not necessarily the best tasting of their lot. They only had one type of cereal-topped donut the day I went and have a rotating menu. They also have kouign-amann, which are really good flaky but dense pastries. I went on Mother's Day for a treat for myself (long overdue review) and I waited in line outside for maybe an hour. Lesson learned: Order ahead for pick-up. It was not long after they had just opened, so maybe the hype has died down and the lines aren't as long anymore.
