Best donuts around in my opinion. Their glazed is far better than anyone else's (yes, including Krispy Kreme) they always taste fresh and they're pretty big donuts. I should start this off by saying that my review is slightly biased. This is because I (very briefly) worked in this shop. And I've seen behind the scenes here. Needless to say, the selection is great. Prices aren't bad and the place generally has a nice small town feel. They're constantly producing in the back, but conditions back there could be better. Not enough access to handwashing stuff, not a lot of handwashing happening and employees are not provided with (or expected to use) gloves when handling donuts. And they are all iced and decorated by hand. So there's a "Eat art your own risk" kind of motto when you eat out, this place isn't exactly out of the ordinary but I prefer to go where I don't know what it's like in the back. read more

I have traveled completely out of my way in the middle of the night just to stop by Donut Scene, which is thankfully open 24 hours. Their donuts are delicious, and have always tasted fresh. Sometimes I've had to pick from a limited selection (of about 2/3 of the regular flavors), but I think that's to be expected of a place baking quality products around the clock. Their creme sticks, which are my favorite, are ideal, in my opinion. The filling isn't too sweet, and they're filled consistently with creme throughout. Most of their donuts are excellent, and only a few have been not as much my taste, but still good. Wow.. Just..wow. I was used to dunkin and krispy kreme in the past (though I did have Korean dunkin donuts..which is pretty darn good) and did not realize donuts can be so good. This place... Seriously. It's probably so bad for you but it's so so good. Ate 2 on the spot then went home to eat 1 more. It melts in your mouth.. The venue could be better, that's why I'm giving it 4 stars. The place seriously needs some upgrades on tables and chairs.. Perhaps get some free wi-fi going... Since right now, I really don't see why they even bother with the chairs and whatnot. Donut Scene is the prized jewel of Strongsville. I seriously would not go anywhere else for donuts. I mean it's open 24 hours... how amazing is that. The donuts are also delicious. Donuts were very good and fresh, even at 4:30 in the afternoon on a Sunday. The place isn't bright and shiny, but who cares?! Reminds me of the old fashioned coffee and donut places of my childhood. Took a little bit for someone to come out and greet us when we came in. She didn't make conversation, but was pleasant enough. We were there for the donuts though which did not disappoint and we also got a delicious apple fritter the size of your head. Thank goodness for Yelp, because I've had enough of places like this. At one time, Donut Scene was top notch (or at least it was in my memories). The last few times I've been there, the muffins were dry. Including my purchase today of a chocolate chocolate chip muffin, which was moist on the bottom but dry on top-?. The muffins are only a dollar, but even at that price, they are no longer worth it. To make things worse, every time I have visited recently, I was waited on by the same woman, who wears unkempt hair, which is a blatant health code violation. On one occasion, I found a hair in my muffin. Now I know where it came from (likely). Gross, am I wrong... They have a Help Wanted sign in the window. I just visited Donut Scene in Strongsville with two of my guy friends. I offered to pay for my friends' donuts (both of my friends are male and I am a female). The lady behind the counter was extremely rude. She was not wearing a nametag, but she was probably in her late 40s / early 50s and had long brown hair and was wearing a baseball hat. I did not catch her name, but she immediately talked down to me after I had offered to pay. She asked me how I was raised and then went off on an extremely unnecessary tangent about how she used to have a boyfriend and how he would take her to the mall and she would spend all of HIS money on clothes for her. She also said that she wore so much jewelry and gold that people would refer to her as "Mrs. T". Also, on a separate occasion when I went into this donut shop, there was a fly in the donut case. Oh, Donut Scene. The place is a Strongsville legend. It's the only other place left besides Giant Eagle that's open 24 hours. You can't come within ten feet of the building without being encompassed in the thick, sickly sweet smell of fryer grease and sugar. Even the Chipotle next door smells more like crullers than carne. The wallpaper is ancient, yellowed from the days when the regulars could sit around all day smoking, and dotted with pictures of whisks and spatulas. The display cases leave nothing to the imagination. They are crammed with donuts, Danishes, and cookies. Blueberry jelly, sour cream, sugar ring, maple glaze- those are the donuts to get. Lemon poppy seed with cream cheese or the pumpkin spice-try those as muffins. Their brownies are the gooiest, most decadent things on this planet, if you can imagine eating melted chocolate that's somehow in cake form, you've got the idea. They don't have fancy or flavored coffee, and that's okay. The staff is a little bit left of center and I guess that's okay too.
