My husband brought a plain, round, glazed donut home for me today, and I was happy that he did that, but I had no particular expectations. This donut blows all the others I've ever eaten in my life way out of the water! The glaze was light and not too heavy or sweet. The texture of the doughnut was fine and extraordinarily light. and melted in my mouth. And so fresh-tasting. Friendly service, the owner was very nice and patient while I was trying to get my son to count money for him to "pay" and she threw in bonus donut holes for us. Coming here with my dad since I was 3, it has always been a place that's synonymous with home. Especially now that I'm an adult and it's still down the street from the house I grew up in. These donuts aren't off the wall, or creative, they are A+ donut staples with the ofeerings you could expect, and that's okay, because they have been offering the same incredible donuts over the 28 years they've been open. Also really patient too because I took a long time to decide what I wanted to order. Got a dozen donut holes, a chocolate cream cheese muffin, a cream cheese Danish, and a cinnamon roll! Only had one donut hole because I couldn't resist waiting until I got home. It was nice and fluffy and evenly glazed. The muffin was really moist as well! I will start by saying I was looking for a nice quality pastry spot, like a patisserie or something along those lines. This is definitely not that type of bakery. This is the type of bakery you go to if you want something cloyingly sweet and croissants that are soft rather than crisp. I'm not a big fan of mega sweet pastries, but I understand some people are. So-so. 5am and the donuts are cold. Cream cheese danish has very thick soft dough and the cream cheese tasted sour... Ham and cheese croissant had a single piece of deli sliced ham rolled up in the middle... The rest of the donuts that I got were standard bars, regular, twist.... Nothing special. I bought an apple danish, cheese danish, and a half dozen donut holes. The cheese danish filling was so good, but the dough was just too soft to eat. Score! This place is right next door to Sichuan Spice House! Move over Marie's Donuts there is a new King of the apple fritter in Sacramento and it is The Donut Spot! The fritter was perfectly cooked and covered in a not to sweet icing and stuffed full of delicious apple filling. Writing this review is making my mouth water :) Donut Spot also carried a few items I have never seen before including a peanut butter Cinnamon Roll. Unfortunately they were out of this item and I wasn't able to try one. We also had a Bear Claw which was covered in a non traditional cinnamon sugar coating instead of the normal icing. Although the coating tended to fall off alot more than traditional icing it was still tasty and refreshingly different. My wife sampled a pumpkin cream cheese and a chocolate chocolate chip muffins as well. Both muffins were large, moist and tasty but not on the same level of yumminess as the apple fritter. The owner was friendly and actually gave us the apple fritter for free because I had asked him to choose either the Bear Claw or Fritter for myself. Naturally he said come back and try the other one next time, we told him we were from Roseville so we don't get to Orangevale very often. After paying for our muffins and bear claw, the owner said "I am going to give you the fritter because you have to try one: and we were so glad we did! read more

I swear, she is so sweet! But as I am sitting here....9:30 pm...I am having some donut withdrawals. Came to their Yelp page and I am drooling at the other options of donuts they have! Maple donut bars with whip cream?! Giant cinnamon rolls?! I need to make a trip out here. The donuts here have the right proportion of taste from the thickness and sweetness of the glazed syrup to the airiness of the donuts. I've had bad donuts before where it tasted very dry and cakey. Not here! My favorite is the old fashioned maple. The texture is so airy and so light, which gives the perfect moist. I've tried their maple bars too. And it has this very fluffy, moist texture! I've been to places that rated 5 stars but then your thinking you people are crazy this is disgusting, but this is NOT that place this a true blue 5 star donut stop. I'm diet restricted so no exciting choices except when I slip back, lol. My standard go to is the 1 lonely raisin scone which is always there waiting for me, I only every 3 months or so. This scone is so big I snack all day. My honey loves the apple scone and fritter. My sons favorite is the apple fritter which is made and fried to perfection. I had a maple bar once...outstanding. My grandchildren love the frosted cake with different sprinkles exciting ( chocolate flavor). These donuts are very reasonable priced and excellent selection. No snobs out there, its not a passtarie shop and they never said they were. So get off your high horse and go to Julien's passtarie shop and pay 6 dollars for your uppity donut. You know whom talking to acting like they misrepresented themselves is ridiculous. You assumed a donut stop meant passtarie that's your problem. Ok I'm over it, lol.
