Score! This place is right next door to Sichuan Spice House! Move over Marie's Donuts there is a new King of the apple fritter in Sacramento and it is The Donut Spot! The fritter was perfectly cooked and covered in a not to sweet icing and stuffed full of delicious apple filling. Writing this review is making my mouth water :) Donut Spot also carried a few items I have never seen before including a peanut butter Cinnamon Roll. Unfortunately they were out of this item and I wasn't able to try one. We also had a Bear Claw which was covered in a non traditional cinnamon sugar coating instead of the normal icing. Although the coating tended to fall off alot more than traditional icing it was still tasty and refreshingly different. My wife sampled a pumpkin cream cheese and a chocolate chocolate chip muffins as well. Both muffins were large, moist and tasty but not on the same level of yumminess as the apple fritter. The owner was friendly and actually gave us the apple fritter for free because I had asked him to choose either the Bear Claw or Fritter for myself. Naturally he said come back and try the other one next time, we told him we were from Roseville so we don't get to Orangevale very often. Don't skip the muffins, they are some of the best in the area. Located in the shopping center at the corner of Hazel and Greenback next to Subway. Plenty of parking spaces. They are open early. The customer service is excellent. The owners are always smiling, friendly and helpful! The donuts are fresh and of the best quality. There's plenty of choices daily. They also serve croissants (plain and stuffed), scones and muffins! We stop by here every weekend and they have served us the same fresh donuts regularly. I just came to this place cause I was getting my tires changed and I've seen so many good reviews and postings. Well this place definitely has the best donuts, so light and delicious! I'm not a donut snob but these taste so fresh and not overly sweet. A hole in the wall they say but I got a chance to meet Kim, the owner, and apparently, this place has been around for 30 yrs! Kim was so sweet and and a very nice lady to talk to. I hope they will stick around for longer because I will be getting donuts from here from now on. Omgggggggg, these donuts are so good. My boss introduced me to them! She's occasionally brought them in to work for us. She brought some in yesterday as a welcoming treat for our new employee. I swear, she is so sweet! But as I am sitting here....9:30 pm...I am having some donut withdrawals. Came to their Yelp page and I am drooling at the other options of donuts they have! Maple donut bars with whip cream?! Giant cinnamon rolls?! I need to make a trip out here. The donuts here have the right proportion of taste from the thickness and sweetness of the glazed syrup to the airiness of the donuts. I've had bad donuts before where it tasted very dry and cakey. Not here! My favorite is the old fashioned maple. The texture is so airy and so light, which gives the perfect moist. I've tried their maple bars too. And it has this very fluffy, moist texture! Yelp let me down this time. I expected more from a place with a perfect yelp rating. The selection was limited and the donuts were not as fluffy as I expected going in. The store was also very tiny and messy inside. There was stuff everywhere and it just looked poorly maintained. The employees (possibly the owners) didn't seem excited to have customers at all. I got a couple of bars and the total came out to a little under $2. Definitely cheaper than nearby places which was a pleasant surprise. Nothing really blew me out of the water which I almost always get with other perfectly rated places. Sad. Summary Statement: Overall my experience was not great. It was not horrible but not great. The product was a let down as I had high expectations going in. The environment was disturbing as it was cramped and messy. The customer service was satisfactory but not extraordinary. Will I go back? Probably not. The condition of their kitchen/store makes me feel uneasy about their product which was a let down to begin with. read more

Over a year ago we came to look for donuts and found croissants so we decided to give it a try as my husband had great memories in LA with ham and cheese croissants and let me tell you... he forgot about those and this is our FAVORITE spot now for the great croissants and even better super friendly service! We don't come as often as we would like but they remember what we order and today they didn't have my turkey ones.. surprisingly they offered to make me one with the plain and it was delicious!! Very much appreciated as I am pregnant and the baby was very happy eating what was made with so much care! :-) We feel at home here and we feel welcomed EVERY TIME! Wow what an amazing donut spot. These people are just over the top friendly and try to please their customers, just something you don't see enough these days. I am a fan of their pink French cruller. They are extremely soft and just amazing. I could be considered a donut fanatic, as I must try a donut in every city I visit and if I have time maybe 2 donut locations.
