Before heading over to get my knowledge on at UCR, I sometimes go to here to pick up some donuts. It's in the Canyon Crest Town Centre, on the corner near Ralph's. They have a really nice selection of donuts and croissants. This was the first place I have ever seen a cinnamon and chocolate twist, and it was pretty good. The prices are super cheap here too. The staff is really nice. I came here in the morning and you can tell there are quite a few people that are regulars, the staff knows what they want and how they like it. Not only can you get your donuts and stuff, if you are feeling lucky, get yourself a lotto ticket too! My only complaint for this place is that they only accept cash. And if you only have a debit/credit, they do have an ATM machine that you have to pay $1.50. I know that isn't a lot to pay, but I'm a college student with a large appetite, and I need to save that $1.50. Hahah. read more

It's was 7pm and the Missus is wanting donuts. Oh god what to do... Had only been to this place once before and that was over 2 years ago and during the daytime for a lunch. Would this place be open? Indeed it was. So we wandered in and look at their selection. There was not a lot to choose from compared to most places we've been for donuts. We got a bakers dozen of variey, a couple ham & cheese croissants and headed home. Now usually during such periods of the night one ends up getting leftover donuts that did not sell during the day, those crusty and dry ones (yuck!). We were shopping at Ralphs and pretty much everytime I see a donut sign, I have to go in. The owner is like all other reviewers said very nice and has a good selection and fair prices. $7.50 a dozen, which I did not need, so I got the custard filled and apple fritter. If I could give this review zero stars I would. The man who owns/runs the shop was completely and unacceptably rude to my husband and I tonight. We came in to turn in some lotto tickets and he proceeded to publicly humiliate us in front of other customers. I knew we probably had one or two lotto tickets that might not have been winners but wanted to check anyway and was unaware of the machine (which is out of view by the way) that supposedly checks lotto tickets. Regardless, it is part of his job to check lotto tickets and when we had some which were not winning tickets he announced that we were wasting his time and WE were the rude ones for holding up other customers who came in after us. If he had told us that there was a machine that checked the tickets I would have had no problem moving aside and doing it myself. Absolutely terrible customer service! I have NEVER felt so humiliated in my life! This is the shop that I primarily come to to get lotto tickets and donuts (which always taste like they are at least a day old) but after tonight...I will never spend another dime here. read more

Came once around 10:15, mad craving donuts and aware that they closed at 10:30. Made it! I normally go to Freshh Donuts because it's closer to my apartment and 24 hours, but saw somewhere on yelp that this was a family-run business and wanted to support it. And it's in the same plaza as Ralph's, so you can get your grocery shopping done and grab some donuts. HAJIMAN, there was nobody working here. We walked in, talked all super loud so that whoever was in the back would notice us... waited politely because maybe he was busy.... coughed.... said "Excuse me?" and "Hello?" ... waited some more because we were really desperate for donuts... and then decided to leave. It's like he was trying to hide from us, and hope we'd go away or something. And the most annoying part was that it wasn't until we decided to leave, that the person came out from the back. Whatever dude, you just lost yourself a customer. I understand that your'e busy, but the least you could have done was come to the front to tell us that you were baking or cleaning or watching a movie or whatever. Or if you really weren't free, you could have shouted "just a minute!" or something. I could have robbed you. I could have eaten all your donuts, poured myself a coffee, and then left. Not cool man. Not cool. I will never ever ever EVERRR come back here! Because I wanted donuts... and you stood in between me and my quest for donuts. But anyway point of the story, is that this place has really poor customer service. Which is ridiculous when you're a small shop, and have so much competition around you. The donuts are good, but that's where the greatness ends. I've been coming here for years as I work across the street. The customer service has never been great, but my last visit left no doubt that I won't be returning. I purchased a dozen donuts, and at the cost of nearly $9, I didn't expect it to be an issue to substitute my 12th donut for 2 donut holes for my 4-year old daughter. Wrong; they refused. Keep in mind, they charge about $1.20 for a dozen donut holes, and $8.25 for a dozen, so substituting 1 donut ($0.69) for 2 donut holes ($0.20) shouldn't be a problem. Instead, they've lost a 7+ year customer for life. It's worth noting that they either just raised their prices or they raise them on the weekends (I paid $7.75 for a dozen during the week and then I was charged $8.25 on Sunday morning). The Good: The donuts are good. On par with other donut shops in the area. The BAD: Donuts are overpriced; nearly $9 for a dozen. Poor customer service. The only accept cash. No sense of loyalty to repeat customers. They do have an ATM, but they gouge you with fees. There are children living/playing in the shop. The Canyon Crest shopping center in general is absolutely horrible. The majority of the business charge premium prices for crappy customer service and below-average product. read more

This is a family-owned and operated little doughnut shop. The smell wafting from this corner of the Canyon Crest Towne Center is just delectable, so I was elated when my husband wanted doughnuts for breakfast this morning. The transaction was fast and friendly. They accept cash only and it's best if you know what you want as weekend mornings mean this place is busy. This place is an institution. It's been here forever, and has seen a lot a of shops come and go, buildings be torn down and rebuilt. I've been going here since I was a little kid (a couple decades ago:-), and this place has always provided an excellent selection of treats. Decided to try this place out after reading some if the reviews. Donuts, plain and simple. The croissants were huge and looked delicious, but I went with my all time fav apple fritter. Crispy and crunchy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside. The plus is that there were a considerable amount of actual apple chunks inside. Had a small coffee as well, which was blah. And when they say small they mean it. Looked more like a shot of espresso. But it's cheap, clean, and pretty good. Customer service was great. I had my son in my arms and the woman offered to sweeten and add cream to my coffee for me, since I drink it black she offered to put my lid on and even help me out..... I dunno about you but to me that's a little above and beyond for having only spent 3$ there. read more

This place has better tasting donuts at cheaper prices than just about anywhere. On a weekend morning, there's often a line out the door. The donuts are of good size and quality. Their french cruellers are absolutely fantastic. You'll get solid service from either the younger asian woman or the older asian man, but avoid the older asian woman if you can, because she's a beeyotch and can't even count change right. She's actually the only reason I'm not giving this place 5 stars. When you're there,especially in the mornings, you can tell the clientele have been coming for years as the rapport they've developed with the staff is strong (as it should be in any neighborhood donut shop). The coffee's hot, avoid the hot chocolate, and pay attention to who's in the store when you come in, because there are two doors and it can get confusing as to who is next in line. This was the joint, the owner, his daughters, their boyfriends, the night shift donut guy (sometimes - except at 3 am when I was in need of my donut/cafe special and he'd pretend to ignore me, thanks man) were cool as hell. You could chill in the rain, the heat, or the night sky and it'd be fly! Went back after being away for a decade and they remembered me...BEST Chocolate Cake Donut with Peanuts and Iced Cappuccino ever man. This is a wonderful place, open all of my waking hours to satisfy intense donut cravings. Every time ive been here the donuts have been incredible. They're super well made, very fresh and soft and fluffy and sweet. Everything a donut should be. They only take cash, remember! Even when i come in at random hours like 2pm or 6 pm, the donuts always taste like they were just made. Thats amazing. I don't think I've ever tried a bad doughnut. I don't think it's possible.. Some donuts are better than others and I do feel that Donut Tyme is one of the better doughnut bakeries in Riverside. I've tried a variety of their goodies and I haven't been disappointed. They bake fresh ham and cheese croissants in the morning and it's amaaaazing.. The owners are very friendly and the store is always clean. Only complaint I could possibly have is that their glaze (which still tastes good.. cause it's glaze....) has a sort of grainy after taste. This is my first yelp review so lets talk some donuts. Bar none, this has to be the best donut store within the Riverside area. The shop itself is quite large for a donut store with places for people to sit down and omnom on their donuts after their done ordering it. It's located right in the shopping plaza, which means it's a relatively safe location if you're having that late night donut craving like i do every night ;D. One great thing about this place is the owner, he's a really nice guy and while he doesn't speak much, he'll always greet you with a smile that'll make you feel right at home! From my experience, whenever you order a dozen donuts or so (around 7 dollars), if there are not a lot of customers, he'll give you an extra one or two on the house. read more

This place sucks. They once received a C grade from the health taliban but they must've washed their coffee pot or something because it's up to an A now. I'm glad someone uploaded a pic of their "small" coffee. It really is more like a shot of espresso to go or a kid's cup. It's ridiculous & definitely not worth what they charge. The coffee tastes terrible too. It's like they make one pot & the regulars know not to get it so it's left for the poor souls who assume a coffee shop should know how to make good coffee. Nope. Not here anyway. They make two things, coffee & donuts & they can't even get it right. I guess they stay afloat from pushing lotto tickets on their senile clientele. Their donuts are pretty lackluster as well. They come in three flavors: stale, greasy, or "meh." I guess if you have false teeth anything that crumbles tastes like a donut. I wish the Winchell's on University was in this location. They make real coffee in a real size, 8 oz. = a small not 5, and their donuts are always fresh, not heavy & not greasy. Go to Winchell's instead if you have the option. I've gone here out of convenience (and perhaps masochism) about 5 times in the last 5 years and every time I wonder, "Why do I come back?"
