Probably the most knowledgeable garage door repair person I've ever met. Very nice and personable. He'll work with you and explain things very well. He'll do a full tuneup of your garage doors. He'll find every issue that's wrong with them and make them as good as new and keep them functioning. He's not all about selling new doors, but to keep your old doors running. The only issue is that he's pretty expensive, but I can't really compare to other places cause I've only had a few companies come out and do work on my doors, but I'd say it's worth it. I'm only gonna use this guy for my garage door from now on. He even fixed things and pointed out things at the other companies had missed. read more

Most recently he came out multiple times to fix and then ultimately replace under warranty a new motor that was malfunctioning. I called Jim thinking I had a broken spring. While we were on the phone he quoted me a fair repair price and was here in under an hour. When he got here he showed me that I did not have a broken spring and proceeded to repair the door. He explained what he was doing, taught me a bit about garage doors and was very nice and courteous. Because the work was all labor, my bill was less than he quoted. A person of lesser character could have pushed me to replace the spring and many of the other parts of my door. Jim did not. Had a spring snap coming home late on a Saturday night after pulling in and closing the door. Called Sunday morning - and first question was if I was stuck (which I was). They made time for me and were out in just a couple of hours and had a fresh set of springs installed plus an overall inspection/lubrication on the door in about an hour. Even explained how in the future if that were ever to happen again how I can get the door open so I can escape! really shotty work, quoted me for a door said opener was included then reneged on that had to pay $800 I wasn't expecting. the wires for the eyes were completely askew, he put a code pad on 1 door and not the other. didn't leave the garage door openers. I live in Minnesota, but my daughter lives in Fountain. Her garage door was broken, junk and needed to be replaced. I was visiting and called a couple of garage door service companies. I was looking just for a "ballpark" figure as to either repair or replacement. Long story short is that one company was somewhere either out of the state or used an answering service to monitor and answer their calls. The 2nd company was local, but after finally reaching them, they continued to put me on hold while they answered other calls. After promising to call the next day and come out and give me an on site estimate, they never followed through. I found Door Techs and in one call received good information and a next day appointment to come on site and do an estimate and show me materials they use in their repairs and replacements. They followed through the next day in the a.m. and because I was leaving town in a couple of days, they gave me an appt. for the next day. Jim and his son came out as promised and within a few hours removed the old single and double doors. They had the new doors and hardware and old openers in place. and the junk doors loaded and the work area cleaned up. There was a pattern mistake in the single door and Jim made arrangements to come back in three days and replace those panels. He did this as promised, on time, and promptly. Jim and his son were professional, courteous, and at no time did they attempt to bait and switch or upsell me on any of their product line. The doors worked and looked beautiful, and the work area was cleaner than when they arrived to do the work. Payment to them can be cash, check or credit card. I highly recommend Door-Techs for any of your garage door problems from repair to replacement. I told Jim that if anyone wants to actually talk to me about my experiences with them, he can feel free to have them call me.
