I just left this place and was so disappointed. I ordered artichokes and two pizzas and a less expensive wine (or so I thought). Well, the wine was listed as 2015 and they presented me a 2016 so I thought I wouldn't complain bc of the 1 year difference since it was a less expensive wine. Come to the bill and it was in fact a more expensive wine. There were errors in the menu starting with the years listed (and unless you really check and pay attention to it be ware bc you may get a bottle that is not what's on the menu!) and the fact that the size of one bottle was noted making me think the rest of them were the same size, is not in fact the case. Ask the waiter the size of the bottle and price before you commit! I felt like I was scammed tonight. My review of the pizzas - Verdura was OK (used canned vegetables or so it seemed) but Formaggio is worth it. You'll have to pay me to come here again. read more

Come ON, guys. Seriously?? The food here is good. The bruschetta, the truffle polenta, the prosciutto di parma pizza and the Cesar salad, especially. Here's why they deserve a low rating: the delivery SUCKS. Greenwich is a place where foodie's dreams go to die, and Doppio is your delivery nightmare. You *might* get food in 2 hours time. Maybe. That's after calling and pleading with their totally apathetic and unapologetic staff. "Ummm, hi, I called two hours ago??..." Click. Do not book a reservation here if you actually want to sit when you booked. They have no concept of customer service. They were able to confirm a reservation on opentable, but when we walked in, the staff confirmed that they dont actually respect this service, and offered us 2 seats at a counter. Completely insulting, and will NEVER GO BACK. Been there before and the food was totally average anyway. read more

Always a wonderfully prepared meal....The salads are fresh and have wonderful dressings...I love the ruggala salad excellent..... After just moving back to Greenwich before I could set my home up had to go to Doppio's for their fresh marinara sauce on fresh pasta.... The pizza's are excellent as is the service and warmth of the restaurant. The most amazing pizza, fish, and pasta. In the tri-state area, one of a kind! With a great staff, Great service, and their owners are amazing! Giuseppe and Luigi as well as the family is wonderful . Doppio is a family atmosphere and I love the pizza! It is the closest you can get to the real deal. Which is Italian pizza from Italy from Napolerana and Calabrian Pizza. (I should know since I grew up in Calabria which is the south of Italy) I been coming here for years. I was never disappointed with any of the meals. Aways impeccable!! Three big negatives: 1) I ordered takeout food, they said it would be ready in 20 minutes, I get there and did not get it until about an hour later; the chef forgot about it, 2) ordered takeout on another date and had to wait again for the food, when it was ready the chef gave it to me like he was doing me a favor--poor customer service attitude, and 3) the chefs in the kitchen were not wearing masks. We love this place. Food is wonderful, my wife and I think the wild salmon has healing power (relieves joint pain) and come here weekly for our "fix"! The pizzas are by far the best in town. The pasta dishes are all quite good, my favorite is the Fusilli. A while back they had some issues with service but seem to have that under control. Overall, I'm a fan! read more

Place is so inconsistent it's scary. I ordered the chicken scarp again and it was bone in chicken, no sausage or jalapeños, in a sweet sauce. Meatballs came in a meat sauce which was good, but not on the menu. Honestly things just don't match the menu and there is a 50/50 chance it's good. read more

Food is always great and the service is fantastic. We always wonder why we don't come more often. It is a bit tight on seating (exacerbated this time by two tables being used as a romper room), so it can get loud and slightly uncomfortable. However, it is a great neighborhood restaurant that offers great pasta, pizza, and wine. Perhaps with some outdoor seating in the summer it will ease the cramped feel or if like us, try it on a Sunday - Thursday and avoid the Friday/Saturday crowds. Not much has changed from my last review in 2015, including the caution that there could be a wait as it is a small space. read more

So happy Doppio has opened! They have great pizza, the best near Greenwich Ave. Went when they first opened and they were still figuring out service but now they are on point. We had a fantastic Valentine's dinner last night at Doppio our favorite restaurant in Greenwich. The restaurant was decorated with lovely fresh flowers and candles and rose petals on all the tables. Although the restaurant was busy, we were seated immediately. We started with crusty Italian bread and awesome olive oil. Next came the eggplant parmagiana small plate - delicious. We followed that with the lasagna which is the best we've found in the area. There was a special dessert of warm apple pastry with cinnamon gelato - delicious! The service was excellent as usual - Mo is terrific. The owners make it a point to meet and greet everyone. We really love this restaurant and highly recommend it. My hairdresser had her holiday party here as well and everyone loved the food, wine, service and ambiance. As an added bonus, don't be surprised to see a celebrity or two dining next to you. read more

While the food is alright (though the pizza dough isn't as crispy as I like), the restaurant is very dark/badly laid out and the service is so terrible as to ruin the meal. Best pizza in town is Pizza Post even if it is less fancy. read more

I placed an order for delivery at 3pm ... called at 4 to inquire where my food was and staff member was very rude and said "its on its way" ... called back at 5pm to inquire once again where my food was and was told "WE ONLY START DELIVERIES AT 5PM" ... I used to love this place! Then I went for lunch and ordered a salad, which was on the specials list. When it arrived, I commented that the feta cheese on top was moldy. The manager told me that it wasn't mold, they mistakenly mixed up the cheese with Gorgonzola. It didn't look like Gorgonzola, but took her word for it. I sat back down and took a little nibble at the cheese. It was definitely NOT Gorgonzola but moldy feta. I then brought it back to the manager and again she fought me on that it was Gorgonzola. I was appalled. I was more appalled that they charged me for it!! I told the story to my kids and they told me they recently received a moldy pizza when they ordered in. I definitely will never be back. DISGUSTING and poor management. read more

Im a food enthusiastic and Really loved my dish at Doppio ! I always have the gnocchi love the house salad ... my family enjoy the gelatos and the crepes! People argue that this is a very high priced location which is somewhat true! So look at the menu first! ;) read more

Pizza is great but the people at the register are always sooooo slow in ringing up your take out order - so you End up standing there usually being ignored and watching your pizza sit on a shelf getting soggy - if it weren't the only good pizza around I really wouldn't bother - Doppio staff are dopes when it comes to customer - except the pizza maker - he creates beautiful pizzas!!! read more

Can't believe the poor ratings of this restaurant because the food is amazing. Pizza is great and so is the tomato sauce on any pasta dish. Seems most of the negative reviews have to do with service. Terrible delivery service! Ordered delivery for 11.45am through MenuMavin, finally at 1.15pm had to call to see what was going on. The guy on the other side was very rude and when I mentioned that it is 1.5hrs late, his response was "So, what you want me to do?" Never ordering again. Doppio is amazing. Best Italian I've had in a long time. Proscuitto Pizza is nice. Good wine selection. We shared a bunch of meals, so I had some pasta too which was exquisite. You know it's homemade and the ingredients are fresh. The owners are 'connected' to Italian grocery next door which gets the best Italy has to offer on a daily basis. Dinner for 2 mid week was the plan. Arrived and seated quickly with no issues at all. Comfortable and pleasantly surprised that this is not a place that cranks the music to make it hard to have a conversation. We ordered a veg pizza and a mushroom risotto. Both were really great. But the risotto was totally amazing. Prices seemed lower than the options on the Avenue, quality was just as good. A good value for the price. Will be back. Came here last night for dinner with a bunch of friends for a reunion-ESQUE gathering. It was also my first time in Greenwich, and a friend who lived there suggested this place for dinner... It wasn't bad at all. +Appetizer: Caesar Salad. Done well, Parmesan the way I love it, and non-anchovie dressing. Well-done. +Drink: Wine list had some nice choices. No Merlot (kind of a bummer), but the waiter made a nice recommendation for a Montepulciano which suited the meal very well. +Meal: Fettucine Bolognese. Tasty, but small portions all around. The meal sauce was done very well, but the pasta itself was a bit odd. There were clumps of pasta stuck together in big clumps, making me questions the origin of the stuff. Cheese on demand (which I liked), but the size of the plate and quality wasn't the best. +Price: Doppio is pricey, for sure. But the food wasn't bad, but definitely a bit overpriced in my opinion. read more

Several times half the staff was just standing around doing nothing and we were waiting on drinks, menus, and the check. The food was great, though... Especially the pastas! Doppio- This is the second time I have had to write a review at this restaurant... I don't use Yelp I had to download it because I'm a former waitress and I know when it's busy everyone can have a bad day. Now I know at 5:30 this restaurant is nOT that busy ......I have gotten different size portions on the same dish two weeks ago the sauce was all olive oil and now they gave me the completely wrong dish. I have come here on a date and with a group. Lots of options to satisfy everyone. Sadly, at one point we ordered a salad and asked if they could do some sliced steak on top--without a heads up, they did it, but charged for a full steak! We went last night for dinner,myself and 4 good friends. It was over 90 degrees outside and equally hot and oppressive inside. When we mentioned to our waitress about the lack of AC,she refused to admit it was broken. Food was ok,not stellar. When we each gave our cards for payment,she got one mixed up and said to our friend,"it didn't go through!" After what seemed like an eternity,the waitress came back and said,"it wasn't on this card,but one of the other girls". Too bad that she didn't know how to manually enter a ccard...No apologies and it will be a long time before if ever we return. read more

I am writing exclusively about the service here, since they never sat us. We were looking forward to trying this restaurant but ended up walking out after being ignored. There were several empty tables the night we stopped in, but the host wouldn't give us a clear answer why we weren't being seated. He kept brushing past us while we stood there waiting with our children (very well-behaved I might add). We finally left after growing frustrated; deciding we wouldn't give them a cent for such terrible service. We loaded our children back in the car (anyone with toddlers will appreciate how annoyed we must have been to do this) and enjoyed a meal elsewhere on the Ave. I can't speak to the level of food at Doppio, but if you want to be treated with respect (and have a delicious meal), head a few blocks up to Terra. read more

The food for the most part is well prepared, and presented, but..... The past couple of visits have been disappointing. The loud, uncontrolled children wouldn't be acceptable at McDonalds. When one of the members of my dining partner added shrimp to a small $13 salad, the bill on that salad came to an additional $9.50, for a $22.50 small salad, with a "few shrimp". We did question the charge, and pointed out that they had. "Shrimp" salad for far less. They just shrugged. We had become fairly regulars, to the point of them knowing what I would order. They can forget about my "regular order", as we won't be returning. Shame on them. read more
