Dr. Dora Lee is one of the best pediatric dentists. My daughter had cavities filled at Awesome Kids Dental and the fillings cracked off and they were rough so it was hard to floss her teeth properly. Dr. Lee took the time to correct the mistake the previous dentist made and she made the new fillings look great. The staff is very helpful and they really care about the patients. No kid likes the dentist, but my daughter looks forward to Dr. Lee because of the warm environment and cool toys in the treasure box. One of a kind dentist. Dr. Lee has been my daughter's dentist for over two years, and has been wonderful. My daughter was quite anxious and fearful of her last dentist, but immediately took to Dr. Dora's gentle approach. As a parent, I appreciate the fact that she is very knowledgeable and provides detailed explanations regarding any issues, no matter how minor. My daughter has had some extensive dental work done (related to fillings/crowns) and I felt completely comfortable leaving her in Dr. Dora's capable hands. Her office and staff are also very kid-friendly. While there are other dentists whose locations are more convenient, I will continue to drive the 60 miles down to see Dr. Dora because my daughter completely trusts her and now has no fears of going to the dentist. read more

I have been taking my son to Dr Dora Lee for a few years now. Dr Dora seems to really push unnecesary treatments and she is NOT at all patient or friendly with children in order to make them or the parents feel comfortable. I have always been a little baffled by the fact that she's a Pediatric dentist, frankly. I was terrified of taking my son to another dentist, for fear it would be worse to make him endure a new provider, but in fact I found that it was really just the dentist's demeanor, and my son does TERRIFIC with any other dental provider (Orthodontist or Dentists). I wish I had changed providers years ago, and would have also saved a lot of money, time and anguish trying to give my son unnecessary & costly sedation meds which were being required by Dr Dora's office. Beware if you take a recommendation from other patients parents, as we did. If you have a sensitive child who is afraid of new things, take your child to a dentist with more patience than Dr Dora. Her staff is super-friendly, but honestly...they aren't that sharp when it comes to Insurance processes or billing procedures and coding standards. Good luck....:-) read more

Dr Dora Lee is an incredibly caring, knowledgeable and skillful pediatric dentist. She's been taking care of our two young girls' dental care for the past year and there is no greater compliment to a dentist that I can think of other than to have my then 4 year old (now 5) daughter tell me: "Mommy, when do we go back to the dentist? We haven't gone in a really, really long time." and it had only been 4 months at the time. Her staff is really accommodating and makes young kids so comfortable to be in her office that I can't believe that I don't have to fight with them to go get their teeth checked. And on top of that Dr Dora Lee and her staff have instilled a love to brush and...yes, believe it or not, FLOSS, that I never thought possible at this age of 5 & 3 1/2. I agree with Paula P., I took my child here and they did all kinds of x-ray and didn't even bother to check and see if our insurance would cover the services performed, then got stuck will a bill. When asked about tooth extraction, Dora Lee dentist would not put up with my child if they could not resist the pain, she does not have the heart to care or understand your child, I agree with Paula and can't believe she is a Pediatric. Dr. Lee's office staff was so nice and welcoming for my 21 month old son's first dentist appointment. All the paperwork was filled out before hand online which made it so easy and I was given my cost before the visit. Dr. Bradley and her assistant, Kiki were amazing with my son! Ms. Sandra is the BEST! My children are 2 and 4 and I was convinced they would have a hard time getting their teeth cleaned. Ms. Sandra was so sweet and kind to my children and made them feel so comfortable. Not only were they able to tolerate an exam, they tolerated teeth cleaning and x-rays too! Very sad day for my kids, first off I do wanna say that Dr. Dora herself is amazing, and the hygienist are very nice, but unfortunately as most doctors and dental offices who cater to children, you soon see how they are all about one thing and one thing only, that almighty dollar. It's all about the money to them. They will work with you at first, just long enough for your kid to really start liking and trusting the dentist, then once your child is hooked that's when they hit you with, "well if you like to finish your child's treatment, we will need you to pay off all balance and pre pay for the treatment today or we won't be able to help". There also very cunning in the way they phrase things making it sound like your choosing to let your child suffer or not help your child even though it them actually refusing to help unless you pay out the ass, they over charge for the gas to help keep your kids calm, after calling around most offices charge anywhere from 20.00 to 45.00 dollars for gas, this office charges 75.00 every visit on top of you already outrageous "co pay". Very hard day for me especially since my son was traumatized by a dentist and actually likes and is comfortable with Dr. Dora, and I know what some people are probably saying well if your kid likes her and trust her isn't it worth it, and the answer is absolutely, but also at what extreme cost, I mean should I put our whole family in the poor house just to pay for an over expensive dentist because she good with him, I just can't swallow that. We've been coming here probably 8 years or so. Now Dr. Dora has another dentist, Dr. Bradley, at the practice. They are both great, the hygienists are great, and the front office staff is great. It's hard to find a doctor office where everyone who works there is knowledgeable and friendly. Today I brought in my daughter to have her tooth pulled. My kid is kind of a drama queen, but everyone was nice & patient through the whole process. I also like the option of seeing either dentist. Very happy to have found this place. read more

The dental assistant was so sweet with her during the prep. I sat in the room during the procedure. It was quick and efficient. I've been taking my two daughters to Dr. Dora for over six years, and have been very happy there. My daughters' generally don't enjoy going to the dentist, but they don't mind going to Dr. Dora's. The office environment, the friendly staff, and Dr. Dora's personality all help. Although those things are nice, the major reason why we endure driving 45 minutes each way (we live in West LA), is we know our girls are getting quality medical care. My wife is a physician, and I've been a medical sales rep for many years, so we both know not all healthcare professionals are good. Before going to Dr. Dora's, we found out where she trained (dental school and residency), and asked around to see how she was as a dentist. Over the years, my wife and I have seen too many patients recommend physicians and dentists because they had pleasant bedside manner, rather than by their skills as a healthcare professional. With any medical profession, ask them when they last attended a continuing education program... You'll be surprised to find many who only go to minimally required amount. My wife and I looked for someone who not only loved kids, but primarily loves dentistry. We found that with Dr. Dora, so we still make the trek down the 405 every 6 months. read more

We had a horrific experience with her and her anesthesiologist.They said my child would wake up after about 45 minutes. A few HOURS later she was still totally unresponsive, catatonic and not waking up. She was breathing, but you had to look pretty close to see that her lungs were moving air. Dr. Dora Lee and the anesthesiologist got impatient and suggested we take our still unconscious toddler home!! I refused. I was seriously considering calling 911 at that point because I was so distraught. I kept my cool in the office, but inside I was terrified. Finally she woke up, but they sent us home with her barely awake for 2 minutes and really groggy because they wanted to go home. Later I called a friend of mine who is an anesthesiologist. She said that they were way too heavy handed with the medications and that should not have happened. She also said that they should not have sent us home so fast considering how much trouble we had waking her up. *** UPDATE Now in her comment to my post below she states that no child was ever left unconscious for hours in her office. That is absolutely NOT true at all. My child was unconscious for HOURS and she and the doctor suggested we take her home and let her wake up there which was appalling. So then WHAT the heck was written in my child's records???? She was completely immobilized with ZERO response to ANY stimuli. She looked like she was dead except for her barely moving chest from light breathing. In the response below she said she didn't know how upset I was. That is also NOT true. They saw the tears in my eyes, me wringing my hands, both of us asking them questions, my husband holding my hands for all those hours. I told them exactly how worried I was and asked frequently if my child was okay.They patronized us, acting as if it was no big deal.The doctor kept telling us our child was sleepy and enjoying her "nap." That was not a nap! As far as the comment below that she tells you there are other options. I was given no other options. I was told that all of them had to be fixed and that it was very important I have all that work done or this that and the other bad things would happen. Dora Lee preys on your guilt as a parent to get you to do as much work as she can get out of you. We had gone in just 6 months before and there was nothing wrong with my child's teeth. Then miraculously a few months later she needed all this work. We have always brushed their teeth from babies and been very careful about caring for them. I was talking to other parents in a group one day about my bad experience with this dentist. A couple of others said they were also pressured to use anesthesia and have tons of work done. Two of them went later to other dentists and the new dentists said no way would they have done that much work on a small child. Then I went after the fact to another dentist and he said the same thing... no way would he do that much work on a small child and he would not have put her under anesthesia. Then he related the dangers of anesthesia in a dental office to me. My child did not need that much done to her baby teeth. Her prices are very high and they are very pushy about coming in for cleanings, etc. She looks at you with this puppy dog eyes and frown, and is very good an manipulating your emotions. I would never go back to her ever again. If she tells you that your child needs a lot of work or anesthesia RUN!!! do not walk to another office and get another opinion. if I can give this dentistry 0 stars I would. This review is more directed towards dDr. Bradley. Before I get into my experience, I would like to say that the front office staff was absolutely amazing. They were very sympathetic towards my situation and completely heartfelt in their interactions with me and I will really appreciate them and I will remember my conversation with them for the rest of my life, they really made me feel like great human beings do exist in the world. My daughter was born with a tooth. When I took her to Dr. Bradley I knew that the tooth needed to be removed because my daughter was only 2 months old and was in such pain when trying to eat from a bottle that she would literally starve herself and it was becoming a concern for malnourishment and dehydration, because of refusal to drink from her bottle. She began to develop an ulcer under her tongue from trying to drink. After Dr. Bradley assessed my child's tooth she refused to take it out because she said that the roots were in embedded in the gum and she said it gaurenteed to fix her feeding problems. Dr Bradley had the audacity to say she wasn't developing an ulcer in fact it was a callus which was not true because the ulcer was bleeding every time my daughter tried to eat. I left the office feeling very defeated. I was unsure about what I was going to do next but I knew that my daughter needed help and I knew that she needed the tooth removed. I am an intensive care nurse and I was able to get a great referral for a Dentist that was nearby I saw him the very next day. He looked at my daughters tooth and her mouth, he immediately stated that the tooth needed to be removed and after he removed it she was able to drink her bottle without any pain and we haven't had any trouble since then she is a little chubby happy baby which is totally different from the baby that she was was when she saw Dr Bradley. Horrible experience, but if it never happened I would have never met the otherbfantastic dentist! I had a quick interaction with Dora Lee on my way out, she seemed willing to remove the tooth but didn't want to step on Dr Bradley's toes regarding her decision, so she just hinted around maybe bringing her back after a couple days for reassessment. I also feel like they shouldn't have charged me for a 5 minute consultation of they weren't even going to help me, especially because I was paying out of pocket. They offer a calm atmosphere and environment, especially for those afraid of dentists. The staff is friendly and the dental assistants and dentist work well with children. I needed to take my three year old for a check up. She is local, so I chose her. When I called to make the appointment, the receptionist was friendly enough, although quite pushy. You know the drill, "get an appointment now, or we won't be able to see her for a couple of weeks" . Someone had just cancelled, so I guess they were happy to find a client to fill in. On the morning of the appointment, our car had a mechanical failure. I called a cab and then called the office to let them know that we would be 10 minutes late. They were absolutely inflexible about the time line as they wanted us to be there 20mn prior to the appointment. I should say there that I had tried filling out the paper work online the night before, but their system setup has a couple of flaws so it was not possible, which the receptionist acknowledged. According to them though, arriving 10mn ahead of time was not sufficient. I kept calling to give them updates only to come to the conclusion that they were not going to budge, so I cancelled. After talking with "the office manager" the receptionist then became amazingly cold and informed me that if I did not make it that day they would not have another appointment until October! This happened in June. Wow. She must be a hell of a dentist to be so busy. But others can go. I understand about the need to run a tight ship. However, this whole experience reminded me -very uncomfortably so- that this is not a place of healing, but a place of business in the worst possible way. So there you go, a review about a dentist I never even actually met!!! But she is the boss, and she is the one that establishes policies, so her staff represents her and their unwillingness to be caring and understanding speaks volumes to me. As the rating say, "Eek! We just moved to the area, and she was local, so I went to her. I must tell you that we had an awesome pediatric dentist before in Torrance, so my expectations were high. She's not very personable. She doesn't really interact with the kids. At the other dentist, they were excited to go: the staff was super friendly, let them pick out the flavor for the cleaning, etc. Here, not so much. They get it done in a very business-like way. I was disappointed. They're kids. Put a little effort into it and make it exciting! They did get to pick a little toy and got a balloon. She's not awful, but I wouldn't recommend her. I'm going to look around for someone else. Oh, and it was EXPENSIVE! My husband just changed jobs, so we haven't gotten a dental plan set up yet. They were originally going to charge us $700 - to clean two little girls' teeth! They wanted to do tons of Xrays, etc. I think she's in it for the money because she certainly doesn't seem to like children very much. My oldest daughter didn't even know which one was the dentist. She didn't even bother to introduce herself. I just know there have to be better dentists around. read more
