My boys have been going to Funtastic since they were a little over 3 years old! I can't say enough about how great this place is. They make the kids feel so safe and have fun. I had come from another pediatric dentist after my son needed a crown and they just scared me about the process. I was frantic -- but when I met the Funtastic team - they were quick to be so caring and explained the whole process and gave me options. And when the procedure was done - it was with skill and care - they even took care of this worried Mom! From that time we haven't looked back! Dr. Kao is amazing. She genuinely cares about the kiddos and explains thoroughly to parents the diagnoses and treatment plans for the work being done. She has even provided a # we can call/text with any questions or concerns when not in-office! My daughter is 7 and naturally isn't thrilled at the idea of going to the dentist, but Dr. Kao and the staff at FUNtastic made it as comfortable as possible for her! She only ever wants to come here for her dental needs now. She calls it the "baby dentist's office" (lol). They always give her a goody bag when she leaves and the lobby/clinic rooms have cute, kid-friendly decor + a Candy Store (sugar-free obviously). Funtastic no longer accepts any dental insurance. Instead they bill you full freight (no discounts, no negotiated rates, no cash pricing) and you pay out of pocket and submit for reimbursement. They are out of network for *all* plans, including the most common commercially available employer plans. So a routine visit (no fillings) w/ X-rays costs $400+. My employer's plan reimbursed $98 of that. Can you imagine what they will bill to have actual dental work done? And our child is double covered. This office is only for the very wealthy now :/ read more

We've been coming to FUNtastic Dental for over 7 years and my kids always look forward to coming in. The staff is always so friendly from the moment you walk in. Marisol and Nicole do a great job at always explaining the process to my kids and what to expect showing them the tools and making them feel comfortable during the whole procedure. Dr. Kao is great and gentle and my kids feel so comfortable under her care. I love how the Dr.'s and staff not only educate my kids on what to do giving them tips but also show me step by step and answer all the questions I have. Highly recommend this place, it's a drive for us but totally worth it! read more

Well first of all we have never had issues with the actual dentist. They are good. The office and the billing can almost be classified as a scam. My granddaughter chipped her tooth last year and they billed it as one of her checkups and not an office visit. As a result insurance doesn't pay for the next checkup. Then this year they stopped accepting insurance. They send a misleading letter saying you are gonna get reimbursed. Yes you do get reimbursed at in network rate but they charge you full price out of network. Example they charge you 500 for checkup and x rays. Insurance then pays you back 187. Totally misleading . Lesson learned.. don't go here! read more

They no longer accept our dental insurance and we were considered out of network . They require the patient to pay the total cost and tell you , the dental insurance co will reimburse. I said I'm scared about not getting reimbursed and paid $500 for a child's basic exam , X-rays and fluoride treatment. I was told don't worry your insurance will reimburse you . What they do not tell you is the amount they will reimburse you. I was only reimbursed 37% of my total cost. We were long time patients (8 years , 3 sets of braces) and I really expected better communication and transparency. We had another strange experience where my son who is older left after his exam and they said to him you are good to go. Then three weeks later they call me and tell me he has cavities and needs sealants , but are not covered . I took him to two other dentists because something seemed odd and they said no need . They quoted $60 at the time for each sealant. They recommended sealants for my daughter and now they are $110 , almost double! Oddly enough, they will also recommend sealants at every visit and are not covered! Dr Kao and the other dentists and assistants are great but we will never go back because of their administrative practices. read more

We had been coming to Funtastic for a few years, and the level of care was always good with the dental hygienists and the dentist themselves. However, the experience with the front office is something to be desired. First, we had booked a Saturday appointment. When booking a Saturday appointment you get threatening texts and emails leading up to the appointment warning you that will be black balled from Sat appointments if you cancel or don't show up. With our youngest child, they would only do morning appointments, and continued this policy even when he got bigger with no flexibility. Also be warned that this practice is outside of most insurance plans so be prepared to pay $$$$. They will demand payment immediately prior to submitting it to the insurance. Initially we were paying about 20% out of pocket which wasn't terrible, but then after our last visit we learned that we would have to pay 90% out of pocket!! We ended up paying almost $600 for two cleanings. We ended up finding another dentist who was just as good and in network with our plan. read more

The office always smells clean, is clean and is updated with new kiddo movies to watch, fun toothpaste options for the kids to choose. They offer happy gas prior to any teeth cavity work. Our insurance covers their services. My kids look forward to coming here! They are now age 9 and 7. My son and daughter aren't afraid of the dentist like i was as a kid or my hubby when office just saw kids but did not specialize in kids like they do here. read more

One of my coworkers recommended this place since she took her daughter for her first check up there and she was very happy with the experience, her daughter is 3yo. I called to make an appointment and gave all my information so they could check my insurance ahead of time. Me and my son checked in about 20 minutes prior to our appointment time. As soon as I arrived I was handed an iPad with a treatment plan for the basic procedures of Exam, X-rays, cleaning, and fluoride. It was at this point that the receptionist informed me of a copay. I have a PPO insurance and I know my preventative services are covered at 100%. So I started questioning why and she said my insurance was only covering at 85% which made me question whether I was in or out of network. I work in the dental field so I know all the ins and outs of the dental profession. So the receptionist kind of danced around the question until she realized I knew what I was talking about and told me yes, I'm out of network. I decided to cancel my appointment after this and told her it would be nice if they would call ahead of time to inform their new clients that they are out of network. read more

We've been going to this office for the past 6 years and this office is out of my network but because my daughter enjoys the experience, I pay the additional fees. This past visit was just not what it used to be. I don't know if it's Covid or maybe something else is going on. But for years my daughter prides herself on not having any cavities. There was a no cavity club where she got a pencil and was entered into a raffle. Well this visit she didn't get a pencil, no raffle, no good job on no cavities. Nothing. On top of all this 6 months cleaning she didn't even get a goodie bag with a new toothbrush, floss and sticker. Which she looks forward too. Previously I had a couple of great experiences here, however over the past year, the quality of their service has tanked. The wait time for an appointment or a call back is terrible. They boast multiple options to contact them, to which no one responds. When I finally talk to a live person and state there is frustration because no one is returning my calls or emails, she says, "Oh, just give them time, it's not an emergency and we're not 24/7. They'll get back to you." This is OVER 6 weeks after initial contact for a routine check up. This practice would probably benefit from shaping up their front office staff, as they are who we typically deal with and set the expectation for how the business operates. As of now, I'll be taking my child elsewhere where our business will be appreciated. read more

I have been taking my now 2.5 and 4 year old here for a few years. The office is very fun for kids and they like the decor and the goody bag they get at the end of their visit. I like doctor Stella and the dentist assistants, they are very good and patient with the kids. So far, we have only gone for cleanings and haven't had to get any treatments, but the cleanings have gone well and I didn't feel like they were trying to sell us things we didn't need. However we recently got a letter in the mail saying that they are no longer in network with our insurance, Delta Dental. Very disappointed to hear this as now I will need to find a new dentist for the kids. They did say we could still see them with our insurance, but that we would need to pay in full at the end of each visit and then they would submit a claim and the insurance would send us the reimbursement. I went back to look at the claims and they have always charged more than our insurance would pay, so I'm sure we would be paying for that out-of-pocket going forward. I'm not willing to do that when there are other dentists we could see. I have not been to another pediatric dentist so I can't really compare, but they submitted a claim for over $400 for a cleaning for my 4 year old daughter. That seems extremely high when my dentist charges $200 for my cleanings. read more

My son needed a check up and this dentist was recommended by a friend. I hate the dentist but I didn't want my son to feel that way. We talked about what the visit and I showed him pics from yelp. When we got there he was so nervous he didn't want to go inside. After some talking he went inside and didn't want to talk to anyone. I filled out the paperwork which was super easy. They gave him a gift bag with awesome goodies! He felt more at ease. They explained that we would go step by step for him to make him comfortable. They gave us a tour of the entire office. And he was willing to sit down in the exam chair. The dental assistant went through all the instruments she would use for the cleaning and let him touch them. After the introduction, the front desk clerk came back and explained that the insurance was in network and gave me the estimate and told me the price out of my pocket today for the cleaning, exams and X-rays. After that, the dental assistant had him chose his flavor of toothpaste for the cleaning. They had bubble gum, watermelon, birthday cake and chocolate. She prepped him and completed the cleaning. Then came the "pictures" or X-rays. I stayed back and she took him to the area which was in view of my seat. They came back and he seemed super comfortable. The dentist came and finished his exam and explained the next steps for his small cavity. I decided to come back another day for the treatment. We went to the front desk to check out and it was very easy and fast. We were able to book his next appointment and I also booked an appointment for my daughter to come for her annual cleaning. I'd give these guys negative stars if I could. They are terrible. Absolutely TERRIBLE! I took my two children here and was told my insurance didn't cover sealants, they wanted to charge me $600. I took my kids to Little Pearls and the sealants were covered 100%. I knew my dental insurance was better than that. Plus my daughter needed some other work done, and even after my insurance told them it was covered 100% the gal wouldn't even let me make an appointment without putting a $300 non refundable deposit down. There are two reasons we took our care elsewhere (and have been very happy ever since): 1) My 9 yr old son was a bit nervous (not crying but tense) and the dentist was quite insistent on giving laughing gas. I refused and encouraged my son to put mind over matter but they wouldn't proceed without prior confirmation from his other doctors, because of his unique medical history (he had a lot of anesthesia in past procedures so we prefer to avoid it if we can). 2) My son chipped his front tooth this week after hours. I called at 7pm and requested a call back first thing in the morning to see if he can be seen ASAP. I called an hour after they opened the next day, no answer (voicemail again). I kept calling four more times in a span of 20 mins around 9:15 (they opened at 8), no answer. I gave up and called a better dentist, got in within hours and will keep going back to that dentist. I still haven't heard from them even though clearly my son was in need of urgent care. Lots of other good pediatric dentists out there! Keep looking, we've been happy since we moved on. read more

What an amazing experience. They had wonderful customer service from the moment I entered the door to leaving. My son was a little fussy about getting his teeth cleaned because he's two years old but overall he was happy and content. He loved the little toys that he recited and watching cartoons on the tv. It is difficult for me to keep this review succinct... My eldest daughter (of four children, each two years apart) was complaining of pain from a spacer that a FUNtastic Dentist our in. We were instructed that if ANY problems or pain occurred to simply return and the Dentist would adjust. We did that and the financial woman was just terse enough that my children present have requested to not return. This is coming from an 8 year old and 4 year old. Mind you, I have yet to meet a dentist there or hygienist for that matter, that was anything beyond kind and effective. The financial woman however- she was rude and curt and if she thinks speaking to anyone, let alone the parent of a child/client is acceptable - in a waiting room.... Did I mention my daughters were standing next to me WITH others in the waiting room. Yeah best of luck with that establishment. read more
