This was our second try after Dorado opened. On our first visit, we knew the potential for something out of the ordinary existed, but they were still ironing out kinks. Even on our first visit, the waiter knew the menu and our food was above average. So we came back and saw some improvement. The last couple of times I've been here were great. This time, it was horrible. I don't know who the manager/owner is but the staff was so short handed that table after table were leaving because of not being waited on even for water for over 30 minutes. When our drink order came, it was delivered after we received our meals! The oysters were so super small, it looked like we were getting an appetizer plate. Our waitress apologized but it really wasn't her fault & we had her before & she was great. Won't be coming back here any time soon. read more

This place has some work to do on their food. The service was ok but slow. We ordered the ceviche, shrimp scampi (big mistake), grouper (wasn't bad), grilled shrimp, and rib eye. Eclectic menu surprising to see in southern Brazoria county. A true hidden gem with a menu unlike anything else you'll find in the area.

Dorado's has all the elements needed to make a great dockside restaurant. The chef is talented, the view is amazing and the menu is interesting. We've been eating here since it opened, and they can't keep a bartender long enough for them to learn how to make a drink. I'm not talking exotic cocktails...one at our last visit had to ask us how to make a martini. Seriously? One day I ordered one of my favorites - an adult Strawberry Lemonade - and the bartender had to rifle through a notebook to figure out how to make the drink. I questioned their career choice at that point! I realize the area struggles to keep good waitstaff, but it would make more sense to teach the bartenders how to craft their signature cocktails before they put them on the front line serving the public. read more

We went for lunch Sunday. Ordered oysters and when they were brought to us they had not been shucked. The oysters were stuck to the shell by the muscles. When I asked to have them sent back to have them cut loose so I could eat them the owner told me rather rudely that was how they served them. I sent them back. Not gonna try to scrape and tear at the oyster to try to eat them. Waitress said ladies at the table next to us had the same issue and had never seen oysters served this way. My wife had fried shrimp and they were like a rubber tire being terribly over cooked. Bad food and a rude owner not will to fix the problem. Won't go back ever. read more

Great food, great service, relaxing atmosphere. We were greeted right away and were warmly welcomed in. I had fried shrimp and elotes that were wonderful. Although they have a very limited menu, the food has always been good and the only complaint I had was trying to catch them when they were open. However, my experience on Sunday was not good at all. It seems what I remembered as a limited menu had been chopped even further but we both decided on the fish and shrimp platters with an appetizer of oysters rockefeller. The oysters were good, but quite different from any rockefeller recipe I have ever encountered in my many decades of life in Louisiana and Texas. Oysters Rockefeller is traditionally made with green herbs (predominantly spinach), finished with Herbsaint or Pernod and sometimes hollandaise. What we were served were oysters baked with some conglomeration of cream cheese and bacon. Okay but you need to call them something else. Instead of being on a bed of rock salt, they were on a bed of table salt! Yep just fill the bottom of the pan with table salt and who would be the wiser! That was just stupid. I could forgive all that. We had an awesome waitress but she had to inform us that they were out of catfish and would therefore be substituting grouper. AND they would be charging us $2 extra per plate because they were out of catfish. I asked to speak to the manager and was told he was too busy. We were the 2nd of 2 tables in the place, and he couldn't find time to talk to a customer? What a jerk! I'm glad we're getting a lot more options to dine around here because this place is no longer even on my radar. read more

If you had a unsatisfactory visit you should go back. Tell the manager. The kinks are pretty much worked out. The menu is awesome. The food is of the higjest quality and well prepared. With a diverse menu and an ambiance that suits everyone you should really enjoy this diamond in the rough. We certainly did. Not a real competitor in the area. Well done Dorados! Went for lunch with a group of 9 from work. Service was great, only two other parties there. The order took a long time to come out. I ordered shrimp tacos, 3 tacos and the Mexican corn. Everything tasted great, the problem was there were only two small shrimp per taco! So a lot of tortilla with minimal filling for 13 or 15 bucks. Six bites with shrimp out of 3 tacos! Brought mom here for Mothers Day, big mistake! Ridiculously long time for drinks and food. We got oysters, ceviche, 2 specials, 2 catfish taco meals, a burger and a kids corndog. Once the food came out 50% of it was cold, not even a tiny bit warm. Ceviche had shells in it from the shrimp and no avocado. The burger had great flavor but was cold and so were the fries and one of the specials was cold! We got a side of elotes, those were cold as well. They only reason I am giving this 2 stars is because the waitress was great, we felt bad for her because we were not the only ones unhappy with our meals and she still kept a smile on her face and did everything she could to try to make things right. Very disappointed a manager did not come out to speak with us. Best thing that was served was the kids corn dog. If I ever go back that's what I'll get, but I probably will never go back. read more

I really was looking forward to eating at Dorado's after seeing alot of my friends post on Facebook about how great it was. We took a party of 7 there on Sunday night. Our waiter was good. Service from the rest of the establishment...not so much. They were out of several things from their VERY limited menu when we ordered. About 15-20 minutes after we ordered, half of us got our food. 3 of us had ordered fried oysters and we were told they took a little longer to prepare and would be right out. We got our side items though. Time kept going by, still no entree for 3 of us. The waiter comes back out and apologizes again. The table next to us had also ordered fried oysters and the kitchen got confused and lost our ticket. No manager came to apologize even though he was walking around and knew what was going on. The only interaction we had with the manager was when he came to our table and asked how it was going and my mom pointed to her empty table in front of her. He said "Oh yeah...the oysters" and walked off! No apology...no let me see what I can do...NOTHING! After waiting 45 minutes after we ordered for our food, we asked for the ticket and left. I can't really comment on the food since I only got a side dish. My friend got the butterfly shrimp and said it's probably a good thing our food never came because his was not very good. Very, VERY disappointed. We won't be going back to a place we had such high hopes for. read more

This place has sooo much potential, but obviously management doesn't care! We've given this place at least 10 opportunities because we like supporting local businesses. We sat at the bar, and it was full of dirty glasses and dishes. Restroom was disgusting! Our two friends received their food within 15 minutes, but our food showed up 15 minutes later. They need bus boys to keep tables clean, and allow the servers to take care of the customers. Show some pride and keep your restaurant clean! The service is slow ... The shrimp was good but the Fry's were cold and tasted like they had been under a heat lamp.. the beer was only cool not cold . This was the 2 nd time we visited and same type of service . Also check you receipt before paying mischarged on both occasions. read more

We took some friends from Brookshire on our first visit there, I guess this wasn't such a good idea! It wasn't really that crowded, but there wasn't any outside seating like we had hoped They only have I think 3 actual eating tables for outside and a couple of coffee table style tables with loveseats and chairs for people to gather and drink. Anyway, we had to sit inside and had to wait a rather long time to even get our drinks. We wanted to order appetizers but there was nothing distinguishing them on the menu. We finally ordered the ceviche and it came out as a green sauce with very little fish in it. Not at all what we expected. After we finally got to order and got our food part of the kids' food was wrong and had to get redone. The butterfly shrimp came as 5 shrimp, fried a little too long on top of fries that were seasoned way too much, even though it wasn't listed that way and they were cold. They catfish was fried way too long, the cornmeal crust that was too thick and too hard. The best part of the whole meal was the hushpuppies. We ordered two orders, but only received one order and chose not to wait on another order since our food took forever to arrive. It took two hours to order and get our food and eat. Way too long, especially with two kids. Not impressed at all. The waitress was very slow getting back to us to refill drinks or to bring us anything else, including the bill. 4 adults and 2 kids 6 years old and no alcohol and the bill was over 115.00 read more
