I've always been curious to try this place and finally did so today. Stopped in to kill time while I was waiting for the car wash, which is in the same shopping center. Got a slice of tres leches cake, price was $2.50 = It was just ok. The cake was super soggy and really didn't have much flavor. It was also topped with a wrinkled strawberry that didn't look too fresh. I see from other reviews that the tamales are on point, so I'm happy to give this place another chance and try those instead next time. Maybe the hot items are the way to go here? Gotta mention that the service is very friendly and welcoming! My cake was packed neatly in a to-go case, then bagged with a disposable fork. They have a very good bakery and they have replaced Starbucks for me. All the baked goods in the box are $1 and they are a good size and taste very good. Their tamales aren't amazing but they're satisfactory and a good price. This place is well worth the cost. read more

Went in early in the morning and had to wait a good 3-4 minutes for service - not a good start. When someone did come from the back I received attitude and a general feeling that I wasn't welcome in the establishment. The female who served me had a complete lack of manners and gave me attitude when I asked her to clarify a menu item. I was very disappointed in the bakery. The bread we bought was bitter as if they had used too much extract when flavoring it to taste like pineapple and I bought a 3 leches cake that was dry and tasted nothing like 3 leches. The staff is very friendly and welcoming, the chicken soup is perfect especially with the cilantro and lime, and the tamales hit the spot. I love coming here :) sometimes I'm a little shy because I'll oftentimes bump into a few Spanish only speaking employees (my looks are deceiving.. I look Latina but I'm mixed Filipino & White.. Haha) who will try to speak to me in Spanish and I just have to shrug nervously and say I'm sorry. Everyone here though is SO NICE. I've been to this place a few times. They sell typical Mexican pastries, cakes, tamales and ginormous Mexican type sandwiches called tortas which are kinda like gyros, but on steroids! They have an awesome looking coffee machine and sell Mexican hot drinks too. The owner is friendly and chatty. Know a lot about sports and usually has the house TV on a sports related channel. I walked in without a phone order for 12 burritos (last minute office meeting breakfast) and they were so accommodating and quick. They weren't even annoyed at my unpreparedness. I came here for the Mexican bread. It was ok. I went first thing in the morning expecting for the bread to be nice and hot. But instead it was cold. Maybe my expectations were too high. After I bought the bread I didn't really care for the taste. I have tasted better Mexican bread from Vallarta. On the other hand, I did try one of the tortas that had cream cheese and jalapeños. Ordered a chicken torta and grilled chicken combo and the chicken was undercooked in both. The torta was sloppy and poorly assembled as both the chicken and sauce were sporadically applied. Additionally, little to no lettuce, tomatoes, and onions were present in the torta. Moreover, the combo meal contained a measly two to three spoonfuls worth of rice. Worst Mexican restaurant I've been to yet. I'm sure they have stellar options but I urge any would-be customers to stay away from these two menu options. read more

I constantly pass by this place when I'm shopping at Smart and Final, today I finally decided to go in, I was craving some carbs...but I didn't end up with any Mexican breads even though it all looked yummie. Instead I had Jello, and Special Flan...and TACOS, to my surprise I saw someone eating tacos...so I had to order them...DELISH, so much meat, onions & cilantro, yummie salsa, and the tortillas were delish too. The Jello was good and so was the flan...it was so much food, I had to take the rest of my sweets home and 1 taco. Been to Doris on a few occasions and every time I eat there, I don't leave disappointed. When you walk past the front doors you can't help but notice all the sweet bread (pan dulce) on display and the smell of that sweet bread takes me back to my hometown of El Paso, Texas we're two of my Uncles had their own bakeries and when we would visit we would always get fresh warm sweet bread. I have not tried the sweet bread, but I have tried the She-Keen caldo (Chicken Soup) and I must say that it is one of the best chicken caldos I ever tasted and it's to die for !! Service was prompt and friendly and I will need to try the other food on the menu. read more

Great Pan Dulce. HUGE Tortas! But the Tamales... ehh. The Pork/Chicken variety could use more filling/sauce. The cheese variety are disappointing. They are almost always MORE masa than cheese. Like a small strip of cheese way at the end of the tamale and a half of a green chile. The masa is very flavorful though and they are NEVER dry. read more

Great breakfast! Pretty authentic Mexican food, we split a pork tamale and a plate of huevos con chorizo. Not a lot of seating but great for to go. Lots of sweet donuts and pan dulces on display, I stay away from that stuff tho. Coffee is cheap, nothing special. read more
