What a find. This was my surprise to my wife and was floored at the flavor of the dishes. The freshly baked was great and the salmon was the finally. I work two minutes from this restaurant and didn't know it was there! I need to explore Haddonfield more! My boyfriend picked this restaurant for dinner. We got there around 5:15pm. There were lots of parking spots on the street available at that time. We decided to sit in the covered outside area which was beautiful! We started with the tasting plate. It was incredible and it was plated beautifully! For my entree I had the vegetarian couscous with chicken added to it. My boyfriend enjoyed the lamb ragu with orzo. Menu items seem the same but they just aren't - not sure if there's new chefs and management but the swordfish kabobs I had were bland and "fishy" which is a telltale sign of not so fresh - the hummus was good and the baba ghanoush was tasty but runny. With our entrees, one was just fine, and the other had extremely rubbery, overcooked chicken to the point it wasn't really edible. My girlfriend and I went to Haddonfield's Christmas tree lighting during candlelight shopping and wanted to get dinner afterwards. Zaffron seated us immediately without reservations despite being busy. This was my first time dining here although my girlfriend has been here multiple times and always enjoys it. In the front of the business they have an enclosed area leading out to the sidewalk offering extra seating, and while it was cold that night, temperature in the enclosure was comfortable. We were seated in the dining room. It was a bit loud but I didn't expect anything else in a crowded room. It still felt homey and relaxing. Our server was extremely nice and accommodating, but at times service as a whole was a bit slow. We started with the Zaffron Tasting Plate which included their hummus of the month (beet), red pepper hummus, baba ghanouj, two types of olives, roasted peppers, and feta cheese. We aren't a fan of beets but the server had no problem swapping out our beet hummus for another serving of their red pepper hummus. The pita bread served with the hummus and baba ghanouj was great (we probably both ate a little too much of it as they were generous with bringing extras) as was the rest of the plate. The presentation looked beautiful as the plate was filled with bright colors. Next we ordered New Zealand Mussels to split. The gravy (sauce) was delicious and could be eaten by itself with a spoon. The mussels on the other hand were green-lipped mussels and while they tasted good, they're a little bigger and chewier than I'd prefer. We finished up with splitting the Vegetarian Couscous. The portion size was huge and the plating also looked very appetizing. All of the vegetables tasted fresh. The couscous itself was light and fluffy, and the sauce it was served in was creamy, flavorful, and refreshing. We did skip dessert as we were full. There are so many things to like about Zaffron. The food was great, the atmosphere was nice, it's in a great location (right on Kings Highway in the center of downtown Haddonfield), prices are reasonable, and it's BYOB! Excellent restaurant in downtown Haddonfield. Came here for the first time last night with my girlfriend and we both agreed the food, ambience and service were all stellar. We sat in the small "outside" area by the window but they had overhead heaters and a flap covering the entrance so it wasn't cold at all. Very cozy to talk and watch life go by on the street as we drank the wine we brought and ate the complimentary pita and olive oil. I ordered the Sicilian swordfish and my girlfriend ordered the slow roasted lamb shank. Both were perfectly made and incredible. I stopped by with a friend, for dinner. We were seated immediately. We chose outside seating, but under the roof of the entrance. It was a mid-week day so there was no weekend Haddonfield crowd, and no wait. Our server was super friendly and knew the menu very well. She did a great job explaining how the food was made and what we were getting. The food took a while to come out. I get it, everything is made fresh, you realize why when your plates arrive. The presentation is perfect. I'm not complaining. TO start, we ordered the Zaffron Tasting Plate. Great grouping of different humus, cheese, olives, and Baba ghanoush on the plate..... But there was 1 pita cut into 4 slices. Definitely not enough for two people, and not enough to help with dishing out all of the humus and Baba ghanoush. Shame, because everything on the plate was delicious. I've seen reviews about the lack of pita being served I don't get why this is and why it hasn't been corrected. I kind of expected the pita issue, but thought they would have corrected this by now. I mean the cost of making small batches of pita is probably pennies on the dollar. Our waitress did ask if we would like more pita, of course we said yes. She brought out one more pita, cut into 4 slices. I'm not sure if we were charged because I didn't check the bill for that. Other's have mentioned there is a charge. I ordered the Chicken Kurma... Outstanding. One of the best dishes I've had in a while. I just wish the chicken wasn't so dry and chewy. My friend ordered the chicken kabob. She liked it, but said the chicken was over cooked and chewy. I have to agree, I tried it myself. It was the same as mine. We both agreed if the chicken in going to be overcooked then maybe they should consider using cubed boneless chicken thighs, because it's hard to ruin those. She really liked the tzatziki, Basmati rice and roasted vegetables. The final bill wasn't that expensive. I thought it would have been more. I went to Zaffron for a much needed girls' dinner last night. It's actually the second time I've been, and when my friend suggested it, I jumped at the opportunity to revisit. It's SO good. Street parking can be a little tough in Downtown Haddonfield, but there are also lots around town. I was lucky enough to get a metered spot directly across the street. My friend reserved us on the heated patio, which is the front entrance before you get into the main dining area. It was a little cool but not like the frigid outside temp. Apparently, it was popular because I think there were more people out there than there were in the dining room. We brought a bottle of red, and the server immediately offered to open it. Love a BYOB. The bread on the table was warm and fresh , and the za'atr olive oil for dipping was just amazing. We pretty much cleaned the plate. We ordered the Zaffron tasting plate, which had 2 hummus, three cubes of feta, olives, roasted red peppers, and baba ghanouj. We chose the hummus of the month and the red pepper hummus. Both were delicious, and the hummus of the month did have beets, which I'm not the biggest fan of, but I really enjoyed it. The feta with the roasted red peppers was a moment. I don't know where they source their feta, but it was heavenly. I'd venture to say there wasn't enough pita on the plate but they very willingly gave us more when asked. For dinner, we each got a different kabob order. The chicken, the chicken Lula, and the Lula combo. Each came with vegetables, tzaziki, and rice. Everything was great except the rice. The team at Zaffron recently provided the food for a large party we were hosting. They were fantastic to work with from beginning to end. We fed 50 people and they all came back for seconds! We chose chicken, salmon, and the Mediterranean meatballs over cous cous or rice, along with vegetables and humus. The Tuscan salad was also a huge hit. I have been going to Zaffron since it opened and have always loved it. I went the other night for the first time an a year and was really disappointed. I'm not sure if they changed owners or cooks but the food wasn't very good. I ordered tile fish over cous cous and the fish was overcooked and the tiniest piece. The cous cous had no flavor at all. My husband had to seafood puttanesca it was so small and it had almost a spaghetti sauce on it not what it used to be. My son had the white wine lamb ragu that was basically all mushrooms with pasta. My daughter in law had the red drumbeat provincial not good either. The new zeal and mussels were ok but not as good as it used to be. Overall disappointed it changed it was always great. We were treated warmly by the owner and were seated even tho we didn't have a reservation thanks to my 1 year old daughter the staff fell in love with - we will definitely make one next time! What a delight! Came here for a midweek lunch and was taken away on how well crafted the food was! The place is nestled in with other area shops and restaurants on Kings Highway. The parking can be tight, but since it was a mid week lunchtime, we lucked into a spot right in front of the restaurant! Inside, it's lit pretty well and there is ample natural sunlight coming in, creating a comfortable environment. The kitchen is towards the back and the seating in the front looks to be able to accommodate both small and large groups alike. Upon sitting, our waitress was quick serve us our menus and go over the details on specials and also offer drinks. The menu covers all things Medi and I am loving it! We went with their beet hummus, the barley soup, and the signature salad. Everything was quick from ordering to service. The portions were ample and we really enjoyed how developed the flavors of the hummus and soup were. It was a great lunch on a wintry day! They also have a house made hot sauce that the waitress gave us to try - fantastic! It's sold in house and I plan on picking up a bottle once my stash of other hot sauces runs out! Baba ganoush was delicious and a promising start. The mussels appetizer not so great; seven mussels in total for $21.00...okay. They were large and a bit chewy, tasted old. Our entrees were mahi mahi and tilefish. Both fresh but somehow underwhelming. Portions seemed small for the price; more filler with the sides than anything. I'd rather pay more for a decent sized piece of fish. Coffee was very weak, diner quality. I would possibly go back for lunch and try just the kebabs, we'll see. I think I prefer Norma's in Cherry Hill. read more

I went to Zaffron last Saturday night and was blow away with how tasty the food was. Our table brought some William Heritage bubbly, which is right down the street, and enjoyed it with the sampler which included a mezze of olives, pita, two types of hummus, and feta. We also got the octopus appetizer which was super refreshing along with the sampler. Not only was the food great but the owner of the restaurant was so nice and welcomed everyone at their tables. Wondering what to order? I picked the sea bass served with corn chowder and rice. My bf got the lamb shank and that was the star of the table. I hope everyone checks this place out -- its very refreshing to have food like that outside of the normal Italian restaurants on the street. read more

We've been wanting to try this place for a few years and finally had a chance to go here. The service was poor. Our server didn't seem interested and I had to walk to the host booth and wait in order to have the chance to talk to our server. We weren't offered anything to drink (except water that was left on the table) and the food took a very long time to come out (the place was only 25-33% capacity). The food was not good. Everything was drenched in tomato sauce (lamb shank) and the fish was bland. Our waiter didn't check on us for over 20 minutes and when she finally did return we said we didn't like the food, our server just said "sorry. And started to walk away then stopped and awkwardly asked Over her shoulder "Do you want something else?" . We declined and she just left the table. I had to go back to the host booth, wait, and tell her we wanted the check. When she brought the check, it was the full cost of the bill. I once again had to go to the host booth, wait, and have the uncomfortable conversation of making adjustments to the bill. In the end Our server brought the check back without saying a word. They gave us 15% off the bill but between the service and the subpar food this place is not worth the obscene prices they charge. We've never had a more uncomfortable experience at a restaurant and will not be returning nor recommending this establishment. read more

Irresistible basically, it's an addiction that has no cure, no meetings one can attend. Zaffron is a husband and wife owned establishment that literally brought the taste of the Mediterranean to your table. The wife has her Sicilian influences that she adds to these amazing dishes. The husband is from the Middle East where he also has his own flare, his own unique style. This combination of his and hers ethnic and exotic back rounds will simply entice any and every ones palate. Zaffron also does not believe in fryers, or freezers, so what you are tasting is made fresh with everything being organic. Stuffed Grilled Calamari for the win! This is what I had when I came in, and I'm telling you this dish needs to be ordered. *Stuffed Grilled Calamari~ There are 3 nice sized pieces used, that is stuffed with their house made hummus. It gets better mind you, they also lightly dressed it with hints of lemon in their olive oil with that balsamic brought this to a whole different level. The calamari is also served over a bed of hummus. This is also their "hummus of the month" they use which is a Black Truffle hummus. The service from Max and Lulu was on point, friendly, making sure everything was made to my liking. They also have outside tables available if you feel the need to dine outside. We went to Zaffron on a beautiful Saturday night in May. We didn't have a reservation but there was an open table for two in the covered patio area. Zaffron is located in the old Amino Juice location and they have done a nice job making the space simple and sophisticated. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive and were constantly filling our water and checking on us. We started with the Baba Ghanouj and this was very flavorful with nice amount of spice and fantastic homemade pita bread. We were given some extra pita bread also with some olive oil and Tzaatziki sauce. We had two grilled entrees, the Lamb Shis Kabob and also the Shrimp and Scallop Kabob. Both were grilled nicely and used quality ingredients. These dishes came with a nice assortment of grilled vegetables and tzaatziki sauce and rice. The portion sizes were just right. ` On this Saturday night Zaffron had a solo guitarist playing for their customers enjoyment. It was a nice touch. Zaffron is a nice option for the growing array of restaurants in Haddonfield. Haddonfield is Quaker rooted and dry so it is BYOB. The prices are in the $18-25 range for entrees. We were too full to try the desserts but they sounded quite good. 3.5 to 4 stars. read more

We came during a very very busy weekend afternoon during Haddonfield's big crafts fair. We knew we were facing a wait and were told it would be a 20 minute wait for a table. No problem - it was a beautiful day and it was easy enough to kill the time. Our group ordered hummus as a starter of course. It was absolutely delicious, though I wish they were a bit more generous with the pita slices. My friend ordered their signature salad, which she loved. My sister got the $13 octopus appetizer, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Her only criticism was that she wished it came on top of a lot more of a leafy green salad. She was still a bit hungry after. Extremely pleased with the lunch service I received at Zaffron Mediterranean Cuisine. I just picked up my wedding dress a few stores up and was hankering for some yummy lunch. Had to watch the bloat factor, so I was trying to avoid typical heavy meals such as cheeseburger and french fries. My fiance found this place with a quick yelp search and we were very impressed by previous reviews and pictures. It was a fabulous and not overly hot June day so we sat outside in their covered area to people watch. Definitely get some type of hummus as a starter. We went with the "Hummus of the Month" special, and at that time it was Sriracha inspired. They went easy on the spice but it still had tang to add flavor. For my main meal I ordered a shrimp kabob pita sandwich that was served with tzatziki and bean salad on the side. Although my picture makes my pita sandwich look sparse it was most certainly not.
