Platter not sizzling. Shrimp was good. Veggies needed to be cooked more.

My boyfriend and I decided to try this place tonight. The chips and the salsa are the BOMB. The house margaritas were meh and the shrimp fajitas were okay but fajitas should come out on a hot platter SIZZLING, right? These had no sizzle and the veggies were hardly cooked. They were almost raw. The rice and beans were good but we like our food HOT temperature wise. I'm glad we had some really good chips and salsa. The waiter was nice too.

I LOVE Dos Compadres, my favorite Mexican restaurant in Odessa by far. They have amazing salsa and I love their horchata as well. I come here as much as possible when I'm in town. Great service every time and the food is always incredible! My favorite thing on the menu is the Chile rellenos, I get them every time.

    Chile verde dinner.

After a great barbecue meal at Pody's in Pecos, we were looking for some Mexican and trying to avoid Tex-Mex. We ended up at Dos Compadres, the location in Odessa which was pretty close to our hotel. It is a nice strip mall place and is larger than you would think. It was pretty busy on this Saturday night. We started with a pureed salsa fresca and the usual restaurant style ships. The salsa had good balance of sweet, tart and salt with a little heat. We also had an order of chile con queso. This was yellow in color and pretty mild. It could have used both more chile and cheddary cheese flavor but was OK. Ms T ordered ground beef tacos a la carte. This sounds pretty gringo, but she said the beef was very well seasoned and was very happy with her choice. I had a chile verde dinner which was excellent. The chile verde had good tomatillo content and still tasted of green chile. The pork was tender and juicy, well cooked. For desert, which we never order, we caved and tried sopapillas. This was no mistake, these are clearly homemade. They were a different style from what we always eat in Santa Fe. Some may find them a bit greasy, but I even added butter and of course honey and then wished I had another one. This was a very good meal for both of us. The people were very nice and provided good service.

I took this photo the day after I ate at Dos Compadres: This is La Esperanza, NO EXTRA CHARGE for cheese on tacos, and better prices.

First of all, they charge an extra 75 cents to put cheese on a single taco! Then the owner had the stones to argue with me about it, saying that only fast food restaurants don't charge for cheese on a taco! (We go to LOTS of Mexican food restaurants all over Midland/Odessa and none of them charge extra for cheese on a taco, in fact La Esperanza piles it on the tacos at no extra charge.) Second, the queso was bland, the enchilada sauce tasted horrible, and the taco shell was soggy and fell apart from sitting in grease from the rest of the meal. The rice was dry and the beans were bland. The tamale must have been "cross contaminated" from sopapillas being made nearby because it had a taste of cinnamon in it. My wife's guacamole tasted like it had bananas in it. I keep going to the place again every couple of years, knowing I hated the last visit because they have consistently poor quality food. Never again. There are too many better places to go for Mexican food in Odessa. Avoid this place.

Queso and chips to start. Service has been good, we will see about the food

The service is terrible, the food tastes microwaved, the music is loud, dirty, bad location, and is too cold.

Long wait for a table. Long wait for the food to be served. Food bland. Won't return. Rather have Rosa's.
