Sopapilla and fried ice cream Soapilla comes dry with no toppings ‍

1/2 We really wanted to love it, but overall we were a bit underwhelmed! Disappointed! Especially when it came to the pricing. The food wasn't as good as it used to be. It's changed a lot. Portions are smaller & pricing has gone up!! 120$ Two people!! Yes we had drinks & an appetizer! That's still $60 apiece!! We've had way better experiences at Peche (a high-end restaurant in Palisade) with drinks, an appetizer, and dessert for the SAME total, so the math just wasn't mathing for us here!! Unfortunately for the value, we didn't feel a match and won't be able to return. Our waitress was fine, she was the only highlight of the dining experience. 2/2 Next experience: Sopapillas came with no whipped cream no chocolate nothing. I was confused. They just come dry like this so we had to get the ice cream separate.... They were awful. The fried ice cream is nothing like the original recipe. They were out of flavors and do not get the butterscotch. As great as it sounded. And I love butterscotch, but just get the chocolate. Again by the end of our meal pricing and tip, it was just too extra extravagant a cost for the value. We would've had better value at Peche for the same price which just we found to be shocking again.. same blonde waitress was great. Used to come here for a great value. But it's just too expensive to eat here for this level quality. Better to have a steak at this cost $. ‍ but that's just me.

Ambience and food were good. We started with dirty silverware. Service could've been improved.

We ordered a hamburger with a side of sweet potato fries (note I'm not a big fries eater, but the burger and fries were truly delicious). The burger was cooked to perfection, the slices of tomato were juicy and ripe and the fries were crispy with a creamy interior. We ordered a slice of the peach pie for dessert. The huge slice was topped with a crumble, side of whipped cream, along with small balls (molecular process?) of juicy peach balls. We came on the early side for happy hour (2 specialty drinks for the price of one- 9.00) two sangria flavors (green apple or peach)...whilst a tad sweet, we're good. The peach is less sweet than the green apple. If there are two of you ordering, order one per person and you can return for your second one even after happy hour ends.

We opted for the more informal setting of the Tapestry experience over Caroline's. We're staying at the Wine Country Inn in Palisade this week and thoroughly enjoying our stay! The breakfasts each morning offer a variety of delicious breakfast options. The wine tasting at 5pm offers up two delicious choices from a local winery. And tonight's dinner was exceptional. I ordered from the Tapestry menu. My burger on a gluten free bun was phenomenal!!! My husband ordered the New York Strip off Caroline's menu, and he thought it was quite good. The ambience of this room is very warm and welcoming. I highly recommend dining here! Our server, Juan, was also really attentive and helpful. Tonight was a 5 star experience!

A month ago I got the ham and cheese croissant and it tasted like something from a gas station. But I wanted to give them one more change. And the stuffed French toast sounded yummy. I was wrong. The menu claims "Thick‑cut Texas toast filled with sweet cream cheese, and topped with seasonal berries dipped in cinnamon‑vanilla batter, and grilled untill golden". The only thing that had flavor was the berries. The two slices of bread was like what you got at the grocery store (not thick and definitely not Texas toast) the cream cheese was bland and was put between them like if it was a PJ and J sandwich, and the toast was just bland no vanilla or cinnamon flavor. The only flavor came from the syrup and berries. Also it was soggy, I started to eat it like less then 3 minutes after getting it and even waited for it to be done made (so it wasn't sitting there for a while getting soggy waiting for me to pick it up). Definitely not worth the $13.

The nice young waiter took us to a nice balcony with two tables, and said it would probably be 20 minutes before the kitchen opened back up for lunch. (We were fine sitting on the balcony enjoying the view.) We ordered ice teas and just relaxed after the drive down Unaweep Canyon. We both ordered the "Street Tacos". Now I have eaten street tacos for decades, and if streets were lined with gold, these might be the tacos they'd serve. Everything was perfect. The pulled pork was smoked and succulent, the carne asada was moist and flavorful, and the wild mushroom--yep tacos hongos!--were inventive and delicious. They piled them up like they assumed we were going to require a considerable energy expenditure in the near term. In other words, great good, and great portions at prices a resort in the middle of the desert needs to charge to turn a profit. I need a reason to pass through Gateway again.

It feels a bit outdated, but it's what makes this place its own kind of unique. I enjoyed it It's unfortunate how unstaffed this place is because it has a lot of potential. When we were here, there was only one waitress serving everyone. We felt so bad. But she still made her rounds and got us our food, just not as fast as we'd want it sometimes We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast! It wasn't always consistent. Sometimes we would order the same items, and different things came out with it. One instance, we tried some grain bowl and the first day it came with two pieces of toast, one with jelly and the other with peanut butter, but the next day both pieces of toast had peanut butter. Minor, but something you'd notice When we first received the breakfast menu, each side of the menu displayed the same card, even though my partners had different items. Just small things that added up to show the kitchen and staff maybe weren't that organized. The worst part of the restaurant is when we ordered food to go to eat in our rooms. We ordered two burgers, and I honestly thought the kitchen heated up a Big Mac. It tastes exactly like one, and even the buns had those sesame seeds like McDonald's. It was absolutely terrible It's really unfortunate, because the place has so much potential, but you can almost feel that the kitchen doesn't care.

However, my biggest complaint about this place was that the food was pretty bad; while I understand that it's primarily just a brewery, I was still quite disappointed by the quality, especially since the menu items were not cheap. Come for the beers, skip the food and same yourself some dough figuratively and literally.

They also make a white tequila, a tequila aged in oak casks, a silver rum, a vodka, and two types of gin. That night, I tried both gins. My favorite was the barrel-rested gin. It had a nice smoky flavor due to resting in oak barrels that were freshly charred.
