Portions are smaller & pricing has gone up!! 120$ Two people!! Yes we had drinks & an appetizer! That's still $60 apiece!! We've had way better experiences at Peche (a high-end restaurant in Palisade) with drinks, an appetizer, and dessert for the SAME total, so the math just wasn't mathing for us here!! Unfortunately for the value, we didn't feel a match and won't be able to return. Our waitress was fine, she was the only highlight of the dining experience. 2/2 Next experience: Sopapillas came with no whipped cream no chocolate nothing. I was confused. They just come dry like this so we had to get the ice cream separate.... They were awful. The fried ice cream is nothing like the original recipe. They were out of flavors and do not get the butterscotch. As great as it sounded. And I love butterscotch, but just get the chocolate. Again by the end of our meal pricing and tip, it was just too extra extravagant a cost for the value. We would've had better value at Peche for the same price which just we found to be shocking again.. same blonde waitress was great. Used to come here for a great value. I've been a Dis Hombres fan for 30+ years and of the opinion that when it ain't broke don't fix it. They tried to fix it, not sucessful. Service was perfectly acceptable. Restaurant and atmosphere are good, clean comfortable. The food sure could have been better. Very mediocre to poorly flavored. Even the salsa is not as good. Very disappointing. Today I had three crisp shell ground beef tacos and they were the worst I've had in all the years I've gone to Dos Hombres. The filling was under seasoned and soupy and the grated cheese was nearly non-existent. It was an awful experience and I regret having wasted my time. For goodness sake a bit of salt and pepper, draining the filling, actually adding grated cheese and a nod to quality control is the least they could do. The food quality has definitely gone downhill. Our group of 5 all said their meals were lacking. The Chile rellenos were the worst of the entrees. The best was the quesadilla but that was somewhat soggy. Service was slow and didn't check on us for refills. It is under new management. read more

Almost did not make it to Dos Hombres on this trip back from California. We had heard the new owner had changed things up. The decor was pretty much the same. Minor changes, but still very nice. The food was still good. They had shrimp enchiladas this time. Last year I missed out. It was a smaller order, one less enchilada. Mom got their salad, and said it was very good. Brother had their buffalo wings. The wife had their fish tacos. Other than bringing back some of the fans' favorites, the only bad thing I have to say was the wait staff was lacking in service. The place was not very busy at about 4pm on a Sunday afternoon. He was good with getting our drinks and get more chips and salsa. The wife and I had almost drank our Ice tea and most of my Margarita. But took him a long time to come back to our table to take our order. He was just standing 20 feet from us, talking what I guess was manager/ host at cash register. We finally got his attention and came took our orders. Food came out fast. We will be back, but only gave him a 15% tip and the wife thought that was to much. No pictures this time. read more

Others that I have talked to say they won't be returning, since the food quality has dropped, and the staff act like they'd rather be anywhere else. We had never eaten here because the reviews were marginal. We ate at a favorite place in Glenwood Springs and found out a long time employee had left and went to work at Dos Hombres in Clifton. We have now eaten there twice. Both times Gustavo was there. There is a new owner who had hired Gustavo. The food and menu has changed since the new owner took over. Very good food and good size portions. Margaritas are good as well. Our server (Tessa) both times took good care of us. It is now our favorite Mexican restaurant. Let's start by saying we had high hopes. Service was great and it's still clean. Food left a lot to desired. Fajitas arrived early and were taken back to sit on a warmer and burn to the skillet. Bean tostado arrived with beans on the side. Navajo taco had a jalapeño cream sauce that had visibly separated under a heat lamp. I have eaten here many times. Since the plandemic the quality continues to decline. The granddaughter ordered a corn dog. It was overcooked. Grandson ordered chicken tenders. They were so tough they hurt his teeth. Daughter and son in law had street tacos and the carne asada was burned. Had to ask three times for sour cream side before we finally got it. What the previous owner Spike took decades to build with his mom's recipes has been completely lost. The new owners thought it would be best to completely revamp the menu, even after hearing many comments by servers who worked there at the time. They have kept only a few items that were part of the original menu. Now, Clifton residents as well as many other others outside of the Clifton area, not only cannot find their favorite items on the menu, but now they are paying more than double what they used to pay for any dish before. This area never wanted or needed a menu like what they are offering. They had a very loyal following of customers. Those customers would've been willing to pay a little bit extra for their favorite menu items because we all know that Prices are going up everywhere. But, the new owners have decided that the existing clientele are not important to their daily revenue. And, they let go of a lot of people in the restaurant, as well as made it clear to others that their jobs are not secure. They are bringing in their own friends and family to take the place of people who have worked there For years. It's just not right. These people will not succeed. I have been at this place many times and it used to be a great place for an inexpensive and good meal. The service was great. We are very disappointed now. We had some nachos grande, ( not so Grand) and a deli tostado that was wet and unappealing. The service was sub par, . This meal with 3 small margaritas was $60.00. These prices at restaurants are horrible. It seems that the prices are going up and the quality is going way down. Horrible service from the waitress and manager on staff July 2, 2023! Here's the list: First, the waitress (Aubriana) hit our 80 year old mom in the face with her plate. The chili was cold. She spilled food for one of our guests. My daughter asked for no sauce...her food arrived with sauce. She did not bring the food out for one of our kids. I has to ask another (actually very helpful) waitress to get it. She never asked if we had everything we needed. She rarely checked on us during the 2 hour time we were there. Never asked if we would like refills. Rudely asked how to split the bill. The tortillas were stale. I asked to speak to the manager about the numerous errors but he gave us attitude as well. He looked like he was in Junior High! There was no point talking to him. He told us that if we didn't like it, "we don't have to come back". Trust me, after speaking to that manager, we had already made up our mind that we would never go back. As we were up front, trying to pay our bill, additional servers were talking crap about us...saying that we were being demanding and then proceeded to argue with me in front of customers. They said the waitress was new...our friends ha d been there 6 to 8 weeks ago and she served them. Even if she was new, they gave her a table of 9 without giving her any help at all. We think she went to eat dinner for a while since she came back chewing food while talking to us. This manager decided to tell me to leave...without allowing me to pay my $137 bill. Then, the server talking crap ran out to take a picture of my license plate. At which time I told her to take my credit card for payment...she said NO! and ran back into the restaurant. So sad as this once was our mom's favorite place to eat. She did mention that there was a change in ownership or management. Hopefully, the REAL manager will see this and let the servers and managers know how to run a restaurant. A manager is supposed to diffuse the situation and make it better. Cold food, Dos Green chili tasted like chili beans ( does not taste the same as it used to) waitress was odd, hardly spoke and when she did it was monotone, she never smiled it was as if we were unwanted guests. I might have thought that maybe she is going through a rough situation but she has been there for at least a couple years and in my experience she has always been this way. We said we would never try Dos again as the last couple of years the quality and flavor has really gone down. But here we were eating lunch and totally regretting our decision. Ordered a meal for my kids and I, for pick up. Today is my birthday but didn't feel like going out. After ordering, a short time later, my son went and picked it up. He called from the restaurant to let me know they didn't have shredded beef. We asked for pork, no dice. Only chicken available. So he waited another 20 minutes for the food. He brought it home and the burger had the cheese and all the fixings. It was ordered plain. The beans were in a ball and the most dry I've ever eaten. The green chili tasted like tomato sauce. The highlight was taquitos. Those were very good so I ate those instead of my burned chimichanga. I called and I have an IOU for the burger. Dos Hombres has gone DOWN HILL! The food is terrible and management is worse. The salsa tastes like it came straight out of a diced tomato can, the refried beans are whole beans buried under melted, but cold cheese, my chicken chimichanga came out soggy ( I guess from sitting too long in the kitchen), my chile relleno was cold and after cutting it open, I found a very small portion of green chili. I barely consumed anything, before arguing with the manager. I say they are about 2 1/2 X 4". She seems to think they are 6 X 8" and packed full of meat (big and chunky). If you want to give it an experimental try, please order one. Sorry ahead of time when you become disappointed. The manager was very unprofessional and condescending with her excuse making and arguing. I was still forced to pay almost $12 (after being threatened to have the police called on me) for three bits of my chimichanga and two bites of a chile relleno that both tasted like a third grader made them. Arguably the best Mexican food restaurant in town. What do I mean by that? Let's say you have a group of friends that want to have Mexican food. Chances are that one likes a particular taco truck, one says that they like the enchiladas at so-and-so's, and no one can agree. But, chances are that they will all find something yummy at Dos Hombres. BTW, the happy hour margaritas are the right size at the right price. But, my favorite is the Mexico City Margarita. Went for a gathering after a funeral so they were busy, that being said they knew we were all there after a funeral so they chose to put Fox News on the tvs blaring! So irritating and disgusting! We ordered veggie tacos with rice and beans and repeated that we didn't eat meat. My tacos were all beef, and the rice and beans were on a bed of ground beef! So extra meat was added to both of our orders. I asked for fox to be turned off and was told no. I asked for a salad that never arrived. Have gone to Dos Hombres for years ,the management is totally terrible. The service is terrible if you want to sit for an hour before you ever get served, there charging now for refills on your drinks or if you wanna carry out refill and then they're super rude when you ask why they charged so much and they say oh it's inflation, and everyone is charging for refills and I said where nowhere that I know of The manager lady that's been there for 35 years is very very rude.
