I'm loving the Asian and Latin fusion; specifically Guatemalan and Cambodian dishes. They are located in a small plaza in Cranston. Parking was easy to find. The restaurant was open and spacious with plenty of seating. The service was great and attentive. They also serve beer and cocktails. There were so many meals to choose from; tacos, rice dishes, burritos, chicken wings, egg rolls, noodles, and sandwiches. I've had the Chi Chi fried rice which comes with chicharrons, fried rice, drizzled with crema/cilantro/spicy mayo; that was crispy and delicious. The dynamite egg rolls were also a hit; it had chicken, spicy mayo, crema, and cilantro. The food was always fresh and delicious. We find ourselves coming here every time we are in town. read more

My mouth is watering just thinking about the meal I had here. I came with my husband and our friend and we wanted to try a little of everything so we did! It was all great. Food came out fast as it was prepared and everything was so delicious. Highlights for me were the fries, wings, and Gordo taco. The drinks were super yummy too. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and attentive. The only thing I wasnt crazy about were my shrimp tacos; they were good but just a little bland and the slaw on top needed something. The first time I visited Dos Mundos was for the RI Food Fight Taco Mania and I will absolutely be back! My boyfriend and I got two tacos each. I had steak and he had pork. They were absolutely delicious. The meat was so tender. We also ordered the Chichi Fried Rice which is fried rice and chicarron. The portion was HUGE, the plate looked beautiful, and we were so impressed. The staff was friendly, the food was out quickly, and we were checked on numerous times during our meal. I only tried 4 items on the menu and they were all SO good--I'm ready to go back and try some more. We ordered the combo plate with the chicken wings marinated in garlic, salt, and peppered seasoning and white rice, elote loco, dos mundos sandwich, and a pork belly taco. The item menu that most captured my attention before even coming here was the pork belly tacos. After seeing their post on Instagram about them, my mouth was watering. It looked a bit different in person (probably cause it had toppings) but met all my expectations. The tortilla was soft and light, it almost reminded me of a thinned out Bao bun. You could taste the melted cheese. It was a bit sharp and my motto when it comes to cheeses is the sharper the better. The cheese didn't pull but it wasn't hard either, it was somewhere in between. The lettuce and cream on top were refreshing and balanced out the other flavors. The star of the show was obviously the pork belly. It was the perfect thickness, cooked perfectly, well seasoned and had a nice balance of meat to fat. To stick with the pork theme, let's talk about the dos mundos sandwich. Again, the pork belly was also great in this sandwich. I did prefer the way it was in the taco better though since it was a bit more fried there. The shredded pork was flavorful and there was a decent amount of it. I believe the purple cabbage and Mayo combined along with the pork just made everything taste amazing. The Mayo is creamy, the cabbage provides a bit of a crunch, and the pork is meaty and salty. Some of these flavors reminded me of home so it made me really happy. One recommendation would be to grill the buns or toast them for warmness and a crunch. The chicken wings were very tasty but I think the description should be changed to something like sticky wings or bourbon wings. The best way I could describe the flavor would be sweet but with a hint of the flavor you get from soy sauce. They were very juicy, crispy, and all around very good. The combo came with 4 wings and we decided on white rice. I think next time I would do 2 items since it's only $2 more for each item you add on up to 3 items. Lastly, we had the Elote loco. It was good but very standard--cream, cheese, red powder (was not spicy), and cilantro. I was hoping it would have a bit of a twist to it. I probably would opt to get something else next time. It also is on the cob so if you're looking to share, be prepared to get creative. The food took about 15 minutes to come out which is not long at all considering we did order a few items. The inside is huge. There's around 8-10 tables all very spaced out so you're not eating on top of parties next to you. They have a cute little corner with a couch which makes it feel very cozy (especially on a rainy day like when I went). They do also have outdoor seating for nicer days. The staff is incredibly nice. They were highly attentive and made us feel at home. Excellent service. I would highly recommend this place. I will be back to try other items on the menu. read more

Visited as part of the RI Food Fights TacoMania. This hidden gem was an a delicious & interesting spot! Just off Plainfield Pike near 295, it was a bit trick to find but well worth the hunt. Dos Mundos, or "two worlds", refers to their unique Mexican/Cambodian fusion menu. Tacos were fresh & filling well seasoned. An order of egg rolls was good as well. The gem of Cranston tucked away in a little mini strip mall kinda place. You NEED to seek out this restaurant. The atmosphere and layout were very nice. There was a great mural on the wall showing where the roots of this amazing fusion cuisine hot their start. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly. She gave us a couple of great recommendations and answered any and all questions we had. So that being said.....WE DUG IN!!!! My visit to Dos Mundos was very good! I started off with a cocktail called "Tchani" and it was like a spicy margarita but it was so refreshing. My girl got the Thai tea and loved the fact that it wasn't overly sweet. For food I got the pork belly stir fry which was fire. The rice with the egg was decent, but that gordo style taco was very good. I asked for Al pastor and it had pretty decent flavor. My girl got two special Al pastor tacos and she enjoyed them as well. The "Dragonfruit" cocktail was good too, had this cucumber flavor with the dragonfruit and it was fire! It's Cambodian and Guatemalan fusion. Such an interesting combo I needed to check it out. First, they don't serve alcohol here but have acceptable Thai tea! Bf got carnitas and gordo tacos. These were hefty tacos with tender meat. He said he'd be back for them. I got one of the two sandwiches and added the omelette. Steak, refried beans, avocado, cheese on what seems like an Italian bun. I had to take half home. Sucker is big! And DELICIOUS! I was NOT gonna let that go to waste! Staff offered us mild hot sauce and really spicy. We got both and we had a hard time deciding which to dip. They were both so tasty! Overall, food was so good I'm leaving a review to try to get more folks to go. I don't want this place to go out of business just because of location. Holy forking shirtballs, this is some of the worst food I have ever eaten. We came tonight for a private event, kids ate for free but the price for adults was $33 with a 3% convenience fee if paying by card. The food was in disposable metal trays with no sterno or other means to keep warm, so everything was room temperature. The noodles were dry and flavorless as was the rice with the added feature of being hard. The beef and peppers had a lumpy texture to them, almost as if the cow had died of cancer. The chicken wings were the best thing offered as they were merely dry. The utensils and plates were disposable plastic with paper cups. I will not punish my family by visiting a second time. Dos Mundos has some amazing food, truly, tasty, affordable food with an amazing fusion of flavors. The food is a wonderful mix of Central American and Cambodian. I had the Mixta special which was a Sai koi (Asian pork and rice sausage) with slaw, crema, cotija cheese all served on a handmade corn tortilla with guac. It was epic, salty, creamy, crunchy, and the tortilla have a nice deep corn flavor. I also got a gordo taco with Al pastor. The gordos come loaded with cheese, lettuce, onions, crema, refried beans and probably even more that I'm forgetting. The real takeaway is that the gordos do live up to their name. The al pastor was just as good as I've had in Mexico City, if I ordered the regular style I could crush about 4 of them. My wife got the chicken and cheese empanada, which was loaded with juicy chicken, extra meaty cheese and it was fried so crispy golden brown and delicious. She also got a gordo taco, but with seasoned chicken. She absolutely loved it, the chicken was so moist, tender and flavorful, she was in heaven. The salsas that came were perfect too, not from a jar either, they were house made. The pork came with a smoky rojo sauce, the chicken came with a tart but balanced tomatillo salsa. The service has been great both times, this time we ordered at the counter and the food was dropped off to us. Our first time I ordered from the hot wells, and got the chi chi rice, and the lemongrass chicken which was legit my wife ordered a special chicken sando muy muy which was brought out from the kitchen. They catered a party for me today for Father Day and did a wonderful job! Nari is so sweet, helpful and kept me up to date on everything. The food was phenomenal.
