Los Andes has been on our list for a while, and after finally visiting, I can confidently say it lives up to the hype. We started with the Empanada Andina ($5 each | 10/10), and these were exceptional. The dough was tender and delicate, while the filling was juicy, deeply flavorful, and incredibly well seasoned. The meat quality alone sets these empanadas apart -- easily some of the best I've had. Next up was the Churrasco Anticuchero ($44 | 8.5/10). Portion-wise, this dish does not disappoint. The meat was flavorful and satisfying, but I did find myself wishing for a sauce or something extra to push it over the edge. Still very enjoyable. The real star was the Bisteca Andina ($42 | 9.5/10). This dish completely exceeded expectations. The ribeye was cooked beautifully, packed with flavor, and paired with a sauce that added richness and depth without overpowering the meat. Truly delicious. The ambiance is lovely -- warm, colorful, and inviting -- but be prepared for crowds, especially on weekends. Service was friendly, though not perfect. We have been loyal customers to Los Andes for years now, and they have remained at the top of our list for date nights and family celebrations. Los Andes is in a league of its own. Calamari appetizer was extremely flavorful with all the peppers/tomatoes but the actual calamari seemed to be a little overcooked. Three months ago, they promised to participate in a food tasting for my fundraising event, but they never showed up. I've spoken with other nonprofits, and they shared similar experiences. This restaurant has been one of my favorites for many years, which makes this even more disappointing. Nonprofits work tirelessly to raise funds for people in need, and it would have taken very little for them to simply say no instead of leaving organizations looking unprepared. What saddens me most is remembering when they first started and how much support they received from the community. Whenever I am in Providence, I always try to make it to Los Andes if I can. The food here is amazing. This time around, we got jalea, paella, salena de pollo, lechon, salmon de chicharron, calamari, and mussels. Everything was great but my must haves are the mussels (comes cold), jalea, and saltena de pollo. It was all just so good. The service was amazing as well. Our waiter was polite, attentive, and provided great recs. We got seated in the middle area and it was so warm and even had warm lighting which helped with seeing the menu. This my my husband's favorite restaurant. He sticks with the Bisteca Andina (I think I spelled it right) all the time. The place gets rather packed and the wait can be gruesome so I recommend making reservations ahead of time. The staff is always friendly. Only problem I ever had was when a waitress forgot to check on us and give me some hot sauce but its understandable seeing they can get so busy. We visited for the first time since the covid shutdown, and what a change! They have expanded significantly (even the entrance was new to me - though not to my friends. We were seated in a large indoor space with high ceilings (fabulous for noise control!), right next to the koi pond. Cocktails continue to be excellent, both the house offerings and more traditional drinks. The menu is large (though portions seemed a touch less generous than I remember. The food was fabulous, still. I had the stir fry with beef tips that our very friendly and attentive waitress said is a staff favorite. It was delicious, but I was sad that there were no leftovers for the next day's lunch. My husband loved his filet. We arrived around 6pm without a reservation and only waited about 5 minutes before being seated, which was awesome. The restaurant is BIG and there's a lot of different smaller rooms that have different vibes. Very good food but it didn't at all feel cohesive. Maybe it was just what we ordered but I felt confused eating bread with olive oil and salsa, chicken salad as part of an appetizer, an empanada, and then steak. I don't like leaving unfavorable reviews, but my hope is that this really prevents someone else from the disappointment I experienced with Los Andes. This place is, in a word...."ok". I was so looking forward to some really delicious and vibrant food based on reviews and recommendations. But I promise you, the food here, while definitely not "bad", is 100%...average. Nothing special at all. We had steak Andina and the Envuelto de Pollo. The steak was kind of like what you might get at an averagely-catered wedding. Plain, mid-quality, little flavor, unseasoned. The Andina sauce was pretty boring. The chicken was also pretty flavorless and after about 15 minutes got pretty unappetizing, looking like it had been sitting there for a few hours. Also worth noting: they were out of 3 of the 4 appetizer specials at 6:30pm on a Sunday (which we only found out after ordering one and then the waiter came back telling us they were out of it and two others). They brought the appetizer we did end up ordering at the same time as our entrees. The manager (I assume it was the manger) came over and apologized for bringing them together, which I guess is nice, but of course doesn't change anything. And the music, which was a nice touch, is very loud. If you plan on having any kind of conversation, definitely do *not* sit in the room with the live music, even though it is pretty. My hunch is that people love this place because it has a fun atmosphere, they usually go in big groups, there is lots of alcohol, and it's one cut above the rinky-dink restaurants around the area. But as someone who grew up in big cities with vibrant, diverse, and high-quality restaurant scenes, I found this place to be completely underwhelming. read more

We have the opportunity to dine at Los Andes 2-3 times per year and after going back recently I can say they are still as good as always. The prices have increased somewhat but as we dine out a fair amount I've found that Los Andes' value is in the caliber of food and service. Los Andes also made some heavy modifications to their patio since we last dined there and they look fantastic. The semi-permanent enclosure with fans means that diners will be kept out of the rain/wind but also have a 'manufactured breeze' during those extremely warm summer days. This is honestly the perfect solution to maximize Los Andes' beautiful patio and help make diners more comfortable all year round. Great job guys! We lucked out with an awesome server that you could tell was experienced in the industry and cared about providing top notch service. In the midst of a bar error our server stepped right in and helped correct some miscommunication with the runner who had brought us our drinks. He also helped explain some dishes and menu options and was overall very attentive. The food is as good as ever and prices seemed overall reasonable. The restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside, but immediately upon stepping in, I felt transported from a neighborhood street in Providence to an upscale dining establishment. The outside courtyard is so beautiful with lots of string lights, a koi pond, and a waterfall. There was a live musician playing that took the experience to the next level. We ordered an assortment of small plates and liked them to varying degrees. The meat empanadas had an interesting flavor that was too meaty and not enough spice. The sauce served with them wasn't our favorite either. The cheese empanadas stole the show. Next time I go, I'll probably just order a few of those as my meal because I loved them that much! Reservation for 2 for dinner on a Saturday night, arrived and took advantage of the valet parking. Initial observations were that this place is very well managed, very busy / a popular eatery, and deceivingly large! (Doesn't look like a big place from outside, but when i entered the main dining area I was in awe at the size of this place!). Reservations are highly recommended, otherwise be prepared for a 45 minute wait on the weekend. The food? Delicious, and very generous portions. We started off with the calamari and an empanada as appetizers, both were delicious, had a few drinks as well. Entrees, we had the Polo Napalatino and the Churrasco Anticuchero (I'm not well versed in Latin food and can't compare it to anything else I've ever had, but this rib eye dish was cooked perfectly and packed with Latin inspired flavors).
