Been here before and after the renovation. The Dosas are always delightful and delicious. Ordered Pani puri, Dahi puri, Masala dosa and Cheddar cheese dosa. I miss the old place but, I'll definitely be back for my dosa fix.

. Came with a group of friends to try this place because they're known for their Dosa. Place was kinda empty when we went on a weekday but definitely a place where you can bring a large party. We got a variety of dosa, entrees, dessert and overall, everything was just okay. The potato filled dosa (rava dosa) was better than the original dosa. The sauces that came with it was pretty light, not too spiced as I was hoping. The soya dish we got was good. But overall it was kind of lacking flavor or spice compare to other India food I've had.

SERVICE - located in Jackson Heights - well decorated interior but the ambiance feels casual and family friendly - servers are polite though not very friendly - food served relatively quickly - indoor seating available for small or larger parties - no wait on a weekend afternoon MENU - wide array of north and South Indian dishes - vegan and vegetarian options - average price FOOD - mysore masala dosa (6/10): dosa spread with spicy chutney and filled with potato masala served with sambar and coconut chutney. This was just okay, not spectacular. The mysore chutney was marketed as spicy but did not have a strong chili punch. The potato was cooked well though it is hard to mess up a masala. The sambar and coconut chutney that it came with were average. The portion was a good size for one person to finish. WOULD I GO BACK? Not likely.

This upscale restaurant serves dosa and other related items like idli and vada. The ambiance is cozy with low lighting, but the tables are placed so close together that you can overhear conversations from the party next to you, which is a major privacy concern. The service was also lacking. Our waiter brought us the bill even before all our food had been served. It felt like they were trying to rush us out of the restaurant as quickly as possible, which is not the kind of service you expect from an upscale establishment. Overall, I don't think this place is worth the price. The dosas were mediocre, and the service was poor. I had better dosas at other smaller restaurants.

A go-to spot for dosa lovers in Queens! Dosa Delight lives up to its name -- especially if you're here for the dosas. We tried the Special Rava Dosa and Pondicherry dosa, and it was hands down the best dosa I've had in New York. Crispy, flavorful, and just the right spice level -- 10/10. The Burnt Garlic Fried Rice was solid, with a great smoky kick -- 8/10. The Chilli Paneer Dry was tasty too -- not overly sweet or saucy, and actually quite close to the Indo-Chinese flavors you'd get back in India -- 7/10. We also had the Dahi Puri, which was fine -- nothing to rave about, but if you're into sweet chaat, it's a safe bet -- 6/10. The vibe here is simple and unpretentious. Service is friendly, quick, and no-nonsense. You're here for the food, not a fine-dining experience -- and that's exactly what they deliver. Go, eat, enjoy -- but don't expect a lot more. Perfect for a casual meal that hits the right spots.

I've had Dosa Delight saved for a while, and finally made my way to Queens to give it a try. Plenty of seating and no wait at all on a Sunday afternoon. The dosas are giant, but the batter is light and crispy as a good dosa usually is. The menu is long - but I went with classic masala and found the potato filling to be flavorful, and chutney and sambar were like most I've tried. I was also interested in trying the gobi machurian as it's one of my favorite foods, but they didn't quite hit the mark on this. Granted, it's not what they're known for, but the cauliflower wasn't crispy enough, sauce didn't hit the mark and it was a bit smaller of a serving than I expected. Definitely come for dosa, but don't know if it's worth venturing to other parts of the menu given the other options in the area for South Asian dishes.

Tremendous place. A must if you're in the neighborhood. Dosa Delight is a great vegetarian Indian restaurant specializing in --- as you might have guessed --- dosa. Their dosa is massive, thin, and delicious. There are a ton of variations and plenty of sauces. My absolute go-to is the Chilli Paneer Masala Dosa. Afterwards, I'll have a chai. The interaction of flavors is incredible. Aside from the food (which is very considerately priced), the service is pretty spot on. The place is small enough that as soon as you pick your head up to look for someone, they're practically at your table already. Food gets to you pretty quick, so if you go hungry, it won't be an issue. It can get a bit busy during dinner, but we've never had any problems getting a table. If you're in the mood for something non-veg, you might consider going to their sister restaurant Red Chilli. It's a bit more upscale. I've been doing to Dosa Delight for over 10 years. It's been consistently great and one of the few places I feel completely comfortable inviting folks to eat at.

Place is nice inside. My experience was for takeout only. I tried their veggie spring rolls and samosas. Both were excellent, I'd take 14 samosas if I could. Filled with soft potato and peas and the sauce it comes with, chutney and a green spiced sauce was the cherry on top. I'd definitely come back. Great spot for vegetarians.

Been here a handful of times and the food takes a while but overall it's tasty and consistent. The dosa is crisp, and the sambar, and chutney complement it really well. Service is so so here and it can get rather busy pretty fast. As a group we ordered the vegetarian masala dosa, palak paneer, and the vegetarian Hakka noodles. Everything is spiced nicely, all really shareable and good portions.

Great flavor and giant crispy dosas. Great to visit for the dosas in particular. Many of the other items are on par with other spots, or slightly underwhelming such as the paneer kathi roll and aloo gobi. Lots of good vegetarian options as with most Indian spots. Would return to try their Chinese fusion menu. Service was ok, at times odd and was strange that one of the servers was taking a photo of the diners in the dining room near closing.

I was super excited to try Dosa Delight because this is such a Jackson Heights classic and the dosas are humongous. We came on a weekend and the wait was supposed to be 10-15 minutes but we were actually seated immediately because they flipped a 2-person table sideways to squish 3 people which I thought was actually pretty smart. - Mango Lassi - I felt like this lassi's color was way more orange than the usual yellow color, but regardless, the lassi was delicious. I couldn't get over the mango taste of it and I wish they had more of the drink itself rather than the ice. - Masala Dosa - When the dosa arrived, we were all incredibly shocked by how big it was. I think this is the largest dosa/bread I have ever served to me. I love how many different textures the dosa had from incredibly crispy to slightly sour flavors. I also really enjoyed the sauces that went along with it, especially the spicy chutney that had bell peppers inside. - Pondicherry Dosa - I thought this was essentially the same thing as the Masala Dosa except they wrapped the potato mixture which there was way more of. I would order one or the other if I were to come back again. Honestly, each thing felt like it could be a whole meal alone. Overall, a great meal and would definitely come back for that humongous dosa again.

A solid Indian spot tucked into the Main Street in Jackson Heights -- stopped by as part of a food crawl and got a dosa to share. The dosa was yummy, but a bit too crispy... which is usually a great thing, but it was just hard to pick up any chutneys without it crumbling. The masala was FIRE, would definitely opt for a masala dosa! Skip the chai... too milky slash watery. Overall good experience, would come back!

I recently tried Dosa Delight for the first time and really enjoyed the experience. We ordered a massive paper dosa, a flavorful Pondicherry dosa, and a traditional Indian dessert (Moong Dal Halwa). It was a satisfying vegetarian meal overall. The dosas were served with a couple of accompaniments--one appeared to be a cucumber-based dip and the other resembled a light soup. While everything was tasty, some of the dishes were a bit on the salty side, and I found myself needing a lot of water afterward. The atmosphere felt authentic and welcoming, with a steady stream of local diners throughout our visit. It's also a good spot for larger groups. While we were there, they were preparing to accommodate a party of ten in the section we had just finished dining in. A little advance notice seems to help if you're planning to come with a big group.

This place is a gem. The food was definitely good but I think what really made our experience was the excellent service. We went about a month ago and now I wish I wrote down the servers name but I think it was Anoop? He even ran out to the cab to give my husband the card that he left on the table!!! If you are reading this and craving Indian food just go, this place is a win. I loved the thali, dosa, and vada starter. read more

We've been to Dosa Delight twice in the past two weeks for both outdoor and indoor dining. They take precautions with their customers' safety, and adhere to the occupancy limits for the inside. Their service is top notch - attentive and courteous - and the food is delicious. We ordered the Dosa Delight thali and spinach masala dosa. They asked how we wanted the heat level for the dosa - mild, medium, etc. So nice that we could choose! read more

Coming here was a delight (sorry, I had to). Of all the places I tried out while staying in Elmhurst, this is one of my favorite experiences. It exemplifies what this area is all about. A little nondescript restaurant across the street from a Duane Reade that serves authentic food at affordable prices. I started with the samosas. These potato-and-pea-filled things were almost magical. They were hearty and immensely flavorful. The outside pastry part was perfect as well. Too many places think a samosa should be super crunchy like a crab rangoon. No, the outside of a samosa should actually have a slight crunch, but then have some give and "breadiness" to contain the filling. If you bite into a samosa and it just falls apart, that's the sign of an improperly made samosa. Here, for $3.99, you get two large perfectly-made samosas. With it, comes four separate sauces/chutneys for use with the samosa. I essentially just spooned all four into separate parts of my plate and used them one by one or a mixture of a couple at once. My favorite was taking the green one (mint chutney) and adding some of the really spicy red one. Of course, I had to get the dosa. I went with the spinach masala dosa. I was not at all prepared for what was going to be set in front of me. It was literally the same length as the width of the 2-top table I was sitting at. I had to turn the plate sideways to start eating from one end. And it was heavenly. The dosa itself was so light and crispy. The coconut chutney and the lentil daal on the side was great to dip the dosa into. And the portion of spinach and spiced potatoes inside was definitely generous. I was so happy just sitting there, ripping off pieces of dosa, and either loading it up with spinach and potatoes or dipping it into the daal. Before this, the best dosa I've ever had was at Vik's Chaat House in Berkeley, CA. It's well-regarded by many as one of the best places to get South Indian food in the nation. But Dosa Delight blew Vik's out of the water. I had no idea a simple dosa could be so good. I usually make the trip to Flushing monthly. I have a feeling that, on some of those trips, I'm going to have to hop on the 7 train to Roosevelt Station to satisfy my dosa cravings. read more

This was such a great find during our Jackson Heights south asian food excursion today. The waiter Aruj is attentive, polite, and cares about what he does. We had chef special Thali which was filled with pockets of fresh chana masala, dal makhani, and delicious vegetable pickles. The flavors are diverse and not overly indulgent in one way or another. We also ordered the signature dosa and judging by my photo it's delightful! read more

I came here with my family after strolling through Jackson Heights looking for dinner. It was a nice, friendly atmosphere and great food. Good portion size too. When my boyfriend visited me in the city, we returned to Dosa Delight! He enjoyed it as well. We got the Aloo Tikki Chaat, Masala Dosa, and Rasmalai for dessert (pictured). It was all great. The dosa was nice and crispy. My favorite was the Aloo tikki Chaat, which I hadn't tried before. It had a sprinkle of crispy pieces on top which I really liked, and had great flavor overall. read more

Picked up some breakfast as take out about a month back and learned the management changed recently. The receptionist was extremely friendly and kind. The food was packed very well and was still warm when I brought it home. I had ordered their chole bhature and halwa puri. And it was so delicious I wished I had gotten an extra order of each. I'd definitely say the halwa puri is definitely a better deal if you're trying to get a fulfilling meal for cheap. But none the less great food. read more

We tried indoor dining here for a late lunch over Valentine's Day weekend. They're doing a great job of sanitizing tables between diners using a blue light and overall everything looked/felt very clean and safe. We ordered a couple appetizers and a mysore masala dosa. They were good, but the dosa wasn't as spicy as I expected, and I wish they gave more than one chutney option. The service was great and they even gave us a little Valentine's Day treat, so I would definitely go back! read more

Friends of ours invited us last night to join them here. We're not vegetarian in the the least but always up to try something new. What great food! Everything was delicious. Very nice and relaxing atmosphere, I really like the calm and chill ambiance. The small dining room area made for a cozy and friendly seating area. The music choices were great and there was such a positive vibe. Now for the food, it was absolutely amazing. I forget what the name of the puri balls were that we got but I'd drive hours to eat them again. It was total bliss and worth every Penney. Very inexpensive, we fed 2 for $30 including the tip. Dosa delight was like stepping into another world. You rediscover Indian food, through collection of less well known dishes as well as famous dishes. The service is wonderful, attentive, and inviting. Like eating at my Indian friend's family's house. It's also a vegan's paradise. Please support this wonderful local business, owned by a truly talented and gifted family. Savories are pictured. Pav Bahji, Idli, Medu Vada, and Vegetable Uttapam. Fabulous. Imli Baigan, sturdy. I love the balanced, nuanced flavors. The pav has grilled buttered rolls, chopped red onion and hot peppers, all of which when used in proportion with each serving, makes the dish (stands alone wonderful) incomparable. The menu is very vegan and vegetarian friendly. Lol. Only vegan and vegetarian. Service was a bit uneven on a busy Sunday afternoon, my order before 5 other tables came out 1/2 hr AFTER they were served when I asked. Otherwise, I will return again and again. read more

Dosa Delight is not the same as it once was. Ordered takeout and the rice was cold, garlic naan was burnt, and the paneer tikka masala tasted like tomato sauce mixed with spicy powder. Additionally, 1/3 of my rice container was filled with star anise pieces ... wheres the actual rice?? I was going to just not order again given that I used to eat here pretty often, but I found a metal wire in my food and couldn't let it pass. Please do better :( read more

I came here in the summer when I was visiting NY with the fam. We were craving Dosa and read good reviews for this place. The dosa and chat we had were good. They could use one or two meat options as my brother was the only one unsatisfied with having only vegetarian for dinner. The thing that really blew me away was the service. We're from Toronto. I haven't been to an Indian restaurant here that was as polite as the sever we had. Service was 10/10! read more

Great dosas, mediocre everything else, fumbling and ineffective service. The dosas are amazing - glossy and crisp while still tender: - The rava masala dosa is described as "flavored with cumin seeds and curry leaves." Unlike the regular dosa, the batter for rava dosas is unfermented and made with semolina flour, resulting in a lacier crepe. - The pondicherry dosa is rolled up with spiced potato and raw onion inside. It's great if you don't want to get your fingers stained, and want to pretend you're eating a burrito. Regular dosas like these are generally made with a fermented, lentil-based batter. Their samosa chaat was too watery and sweet. The garlic naan was dry and burnt. We ordered teas (chai) which never came; our waters got refilled once and then forgotten. A tray of sauces/chutneys that should've been first on the table was set down with an embarrassed look when we were mostly done with our meal. Like many eateries nearby, Dosa Delight is fully vegetarian, but also offers vegan, Jain, kosher, and even gluten-free options. Home away from home. After a hard day of work I'm grateful to be able to receive a nutritious meal served with kindness and care. The music is soothing and the staff is attentive and pleasant. I've been coming here for a very long time. My kids were little when I began eating here. Now they're grown and a few have kids of their own. Super delicious Indian food! Went here not realizing it was vegetarian. Only one of us is vegetarian but we were all very happy with our meals! First, it was very hot that day, and the back of the main room didn't have an air conditioner that was working properly. Second, while the servers were friendly, there were service issues, including a couple of dishes not being what we ordered, and one dish being very late. The former was even more annoying as the waitress repeated back what I had ordered. In terms of drinks, I got a butter tea regardless of the heat, as well as a Diet Coke later, and we got some food soon. From the appetizers, we quickly got our two orders of their Sel Roti, a rice doughnut with a spicy dipping sauce, which were $2 each. I have had this before in a couple of other Nepali spots, and by comparison, these were larger and a bit more oily. The texture was crispy and soft with a bit of pleasant sweetness. I would personally recommend one for every four people or so. There were also two orders of the alright $6 Bhatmas Sadeko, or marinated soybean salad with spices, onion, green chili, garlic, and a bit of lemon juice. This had a fun, crunchy texture and a nice spicy aftertaste, but the flavor was only OK overall. The favorite of the appetizers was their excellent take on Laphing, or spicy cold noodles made from mung beans. For $7, this came out to $1 per piece. The chewy texture of the mung bean paired wonderfully with the filling consisting of wai wai, a crunchy instant noodle, and a mix of herbs. This dish had a good kick as well. Next came all the momo. In general, they were plump with a soft texture on the outside and were generously filled, and I can see very easily why they've won the momo crawl year after year. The first momo that arrived was the Beef Chili Momo for $13, which was a mistake as I had asked for the standard steamed version. Regardless, I liked the chili version, which had a bit of spiciness and some sweetness. I would say, though, that I prefer the chili momo from Kasthmandap, which has even more depth of flavor. My favorite of the bunch, and our favorite dish of the night, was the Paneer Jhol Momo for $12. The broth was wonderfully complex, and the soft, crumbly paneer inside was delicious. I would highly recommend these either in paneer or other forms. Last were the $13 Shrimp Kothay Momo, with "kothay" meaning pan-fried. These resembled and tasted closest to an overly large pot-sticker and were tasty, but our least favorite. This dish had another service issue, as the inside was very likely not shrimp, as it resembled a large meatball. We otherwise mostly got Nepalese BBQ, which was a mixed bag, with one of the dishes being one of the best of the night, while we disliked the others. Best of the bunch was easily the $18 Beef Sukuti, listed as homemade jerky made from lean meat, slowly dried to lock in flavor. This was one of the best versions of this dish I've had, with the beef having a wonderful mix of dry and soft textures. I would recommend this heavily. The other 2 BBQ dishes were served similarly and were easily our least favorite things. The dishes were the $18 Duck Sekuwa and the $19 Goat Hyakula, and both were served similarly with some beaten rice, pickles, and some more of the sauce which came with the sel roti. While some pieces of each of them were flavorful, albeit dry, others were composed virtually entirely of fat. We disliked the texture overall, with a slight preference from the group going to the sekuwa. Last was the Egg Chowmein for $12, listed as stir-fried noodles with protein, Nepali vegetables, and spices. This dish was taking a very long time to come out, and I eventually asked as everyone was getting hot whether it was ready, and our waitress asked if we wanted it to stay or to go, and that it would take another 10 minutes. A good 20 minutes later, the very large portion arrived. Outside of the hassle, the flavors were decent, and the noodles had a bit of wok hei. If I were to judge this place solely on the momo, the sukuti, and the laphing while ignoring service, I'd easily bump this place up. However, there were a couple of other dishes we disliked, and the service actively made our meal a bit worse by giving us the wrong food. If you can put up with these issues, I would still recommend this place.

I came here with my mother and my brother after a few months and It really upsets me to say that the quality of service has declined tremendously since. The moment we sat down, the waiter came up to us and asked us if we were ready - we hardly had a minute to look at the menu. They brought the appetizers and entrees out at the same time, and they didn't even give us any plates for the appetizers. While eating, the customer next to us was leaving. The waiter kept pacing back and forth next to her table until she was ready to leave which I thought was very rude and disruptive. He should have waited by the wall, register, or corner until she was ready to leave. I'm sure she was feeling rushed. Furthermore, when we ordered the appetizer they asked us if we wanted dessert -- that should come AFTER we've finished our entrees. Then, while clearing our table, the waiter was taking the glasses for water, which were empty because we never used them. He picked up the glasses and placed them in the tray with the dirty dishes. His lead waiter or manager or whatever stopped him and told him to put the glasses back on the table since they're "unused." I was mortified; he touched the rim of the glasses and everything and now the next customers are supposed to drink from them... He also filled the glasses/cups with water afterwards in front of us. The least they could have done was wash the glasses. There was also a tiny insect crawling on the table but it could have simply been a fruit fly or something that flew in from outdoors. I'm very much in shock -- the last time I came here the food was beyond amazing. Now it's just ok. I ordered the steamed dumplings and they were extremely sticky. They should have been served with some sort of dipping sauce. They only came with chili oil. If the waiters chit-chatted a bit less, received more training, and took their job a bit more seriously, this place can definitely become as great as it used to be. read more

I recently converted to plant based diet and thought of giving this place a go. So I arrive at this place and the server Anuj welcomes me to their lovely family run restaurant. I'm asked about the most minor of preferences so as to assure nothing goes unnoticed. I thought to myself wow what a great experience and impeccable attention to detail. After receiving my delicious, mouth watering food I couldn't wait to dig in. Each curry had my taste buds going and I was pleasantly surprised. You know the feeling where you feel full but the food is so good you don't want to stop eating. That's what happens to me every-time I come here. Combine that with delicious gulab jamun cake dessert. Excellent customer service. A positive staff attitude and openness to feedback and improvement (not that I had much to say here but good things). What more can I ask for...this place is the complete package and if you want some excellent tasting vegetarian Indian cuisine this is a place you must try. So what are you waiting for? I love this place so much, and often find myself craving them. I've brought many friends here who end up loving it as well. The clientele is mostly other Indian people, so you know it's good. They have a huge variety of food - I've been here several times and everything I've ordered was consistently delicious (and cheap). Foods comes out very quickly too! My favorites are the Pondicherry dosa (because it's hearty and has a great flavor and spice) and the paneer kathi roll (so tasty, and love the onions, peppers and sauce in it), in addition to their pani puri, samosa chaat, and pav bhaji. Nuj is the best waiter! He is super, super friendly and sweet, never makes you feel like you are bothering him, and just has overall good energy. One of the other waiters (don't know his name) always seems to be in a bad mood and has denied small requests I've made (like for sauces or for boxes to take home my food), which is a bit ridiculous. read more

I recently visited Dosa Delight in Jackson Heights, New York and was absolutely blown away by the incredible food and service! The dosas were some of the best I've ever had - crispy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. Dosa delight is a very very very good restaurant. We had paneer tikka masala, paper thin masala dosa, Mysore dosa and palak paneer, but with chana instead of the paneer-- Off the menu and really really good. We were having a conversation about something else when we sat down to eat which quickly turned into a discussion of how delicious everything was. The service was warm, and prompt and they obeyed all of the restrictions surrounding Corona virus. We felt safe and comfortable. This is my first visit to this restaurant and I am very happy to say this is the right place to get tasty indian food. Let me share my experience with you, we ordered spring rolls and masala idli as appetizers and later I ordered Vegetable Uthappam and my friends ordered masala dosa and crispy Rava masala dosa. The best Vegetarian Thali in the city. Value for money. Worth walking few blocks from Subway. A spicy Mysore Masala Dosa was outstanding. It had a layer of red chutney coated and stuffed with a potato mash. Also it came with genuine chutney, sambar & an assortment of south Indian chutney tray! The coffee was on the house with the Dosa. I went in with my family and friends we were 17 of the people and the food we ate together was excellent and exactly like we expected. We are looking forward to come back here soon as we could,Masala Dosa was good and falooda ice cream was so good it melted in the mouth I would recommend this type of food to my friends and ask them to come here. Me and my wife have tried many Indian places in this neighborhood but Dosa Place is simply the best. The food is fresh, full of flavor, without too much oil. They can make my wife's favorite oil-free Dosa. My favorite is vegetarian thali. Service is quick and the waiters are very polite. The only thing which sucks about the place is their sitting arrangement, if they can improve it a little. read more

Been there twice. Food was very tasty and filling which was surprising since they don't serve meat! This is a small restaurant that feels very much like home. I will definitely go back soon. Holy moly, this was a great meal. They had great condiments I never had at any other Indian restaurant - one seemed to have a peanut butter base, the other was orange and super spicy! Both were wonderful. I wish they sold them in jars. read more
