51. Paper Masala Dosa

Good food. We tried various things from the menu. The dosa was fresh and the sauces that come with it were very tasty. We also tried the cauliflower and the idli which was spicy and yumm

After reading the reviews, we wanted to give this place a try. We've been to the North Brunswick location and liked that place. We were immediately seated after arriving and ordered the following: Gunpowder dosa, which are spicy milage pods dosa with potatoes and onion. There was a nice kick of spices to it. We thought that the dosa was nicely done, crispy at the end and soft in the middle. Would definitely recommend. Chili garlic noodles- We liked this entree as well. Hubs wasn't sure why they gave us ketchup. Hubs ordered a Diet Coke and was surprised to get an Aldi's diet soda.. This soda did the trick to extinguish the spiciness. LOL. I ordered Chai and it was delicious. Service was quick and friendly. Will definitely return and try other items on the menu.

Our first time at this location and 100% recommend it. Good varieties of dosas and options to customize as per your taste. Everything we ordered was served fresh and in less than 15 minutes. Highly recommend trying their Rasam idli/vada combo, Madurai Masala Dosa, Paneer Mysore Masala Dosa and Filter Coffee. Best sambhar/coconut chutney I have had in NJ so far, and free refills. Dosa Grill, Thank you for the delicious food and hospitality. We will certainly be back.

Masala Dosa

Really really really good! We are a big fan of dosas. And this was something we found on a whim after visiting the local temple. Here's what we ended up getting. Masala Dosa: great, very crispy crepe. Feeling was also very good but not very spicy. This came with a coconut chutney which was very tasty as well as a tomato chutney which was also very good. Sambar: very good wish it had drumsticks in it but can't ask for everything but had a very spicy and flavorful broth. Dal vada: excellent Bhojia: excellent these sauce that it came with the coconut chutney, was really really tasty Ambiance is pretty sparse. Bathroom is clean. Service was very prompt no issues This is a very family friendly restaurant so expect a lot of screaming children and loud talking. They don't really have much of a waiting area so we were seated close to the door and there's a lot of draft coming from the outside as well as the noise. If these things bother you and you probably won't enjoy this dining experience. Parking free and in a parking lot. Overall good dining experience if I was in the area I would definitely come back.

Dosa is a specialty dish at any Indian restaurant. The Dosa Grill takes this specially and provides numerous variations of the standard dish. I highly recommend trying the spicy versions of whatever you get. The Dosa is a crepe with filling make of potato and onions. Sometimes subbing the potatoes with paneer. These items have some salt and pepper but really stand out when you add the spices. The ambiance is very much a fast food dinner setting. Service is good but be ready to flag the staff for help. It's not a fancy place and you pay at the counter when done. A great place at any time but probably not enough to fill a dinner.

Good food, decent service and clean interiors We had idli vada combo, rava dosa and gun powder masala dosa All were tasty. liked the sambhar and chutney We also ended up ordering idli-sambar for a function - order of 100 idlis. Worked with Dheeraj from this location and everything was easy to coordinate. When our friend went to pick up the food, the folks at the restaurant were nice to help bring it to the car. Also, the sambhar was packed so well - in a steel container and it was put in a crate for easy transfer. Do consider using them for catering as well

Have eaten at the restaurant numerous times now and had their catered services for 3 different occasions - I can't rave enough about Dosa Grill's food! It's delicious, consistent and great service every time! The price can't be beat either for the amount of food you get when catering. Rajeev has managed all 3 catered services and is always thorough, and his team is always punctual and tidy. I will definitely be using their catering and dining in restaurant again!

Mumbai Street Dosa

First time trying Dosa and the staff was very helpful. They recommended I try the Mumbai Street Dosa, and it did not disappoint. Contrary to what many others have said in their reviews, the staff checked in on me regularly and was very kind. Don't forget to eat with your hands and dip the Dosa into the Lentil Soup. The soup was so delicious, and had just enough spice. The Mango Lassi was also very yummy, and the perfect balance between sweet and sour, the perfect compliment to the salty and spicy Dosa. This dish is veggie forward and so flavorful, it made eating veggies fun and delicious. A must try if you're in the area.

Dosa Grill was an Indian place that I found on my way back from Downtown Princeton. I needed good, authentic Indian food in a simple setting because I was just on my own, traveling home. For that, it served its purpose well, even though it was required to get table service. I think this place should be fast casual or more of a take-out set up. The waiter was very polite, but he had trouble communicating in a way I could understand. I asked for some suggestions but did not get them. While I wanted an authentic place, and while I was looking for something simple and easy, I still might expect some more accessibility. The dish I ordered was vegetarian, which I often order at Indian places, but it had no protein source. The sauce, however, was delicious. I asked for medium spicy and got that. A lot of my observations need to be taken with a grain of salt because someone who is a lot more familiar with all the dishes would have no problem. The prices were reasonable, and parking was easy. Overall, I felt comfortable with the experience and did not dislike it.

The madras coffee is amazing. The best coffee ever had anywhere. It taste just right. The aroma of the coffee as it arrives just blows your mind away. And it's delicious.

The chaos, however, was entirely self-inflicted: eight opinionated adults staring at a menu where everything looked good is a recipe for collective disaster. Our server, bless him, stepped in like a professional mediator and steered us toward some solid choices. The food arrived hot and largely delivered on its promise. Largely. The Poori Aloo, while perfectly edible, lacked a certain - as our Punjabi taste buds put it, rather bluntly: the oomph. The Amritsari Kulcha, meanwhile, seems to have had a bit of an identity crisis - it showed up tasting like an Aloo Parantha. For anyone who's had the real deal in Amritsar, this one may prompt a moment of reflection. Everything else, however, was genuinely enjoyable and the menu is a vegetarian's dream come true. Minor culinary debates aside, it's absolutely worth a visit.

Main course: Paneer Angara - no where close to the actual dish. It was more like Paneer Kadhai. Methi Malai Paneer, I would rate a 6.5/10. Naans were good. That is the vibe of my delivery of Eggmania's Surti Khemo (their egg curry). I asked for it with chapati instead of the default white bread because I like to think ahead about my carbohydrates. By the time it arrived at my house the curry had already undergone a curious separation event. A slick, shining pool of oil settled on top like it was waiting for the Coast Guard to respond, which was odd since I paid extra to have it made with butter rather than oil. Once stirred, its tomato-spiced and boiled egg flavors did shine through. It was not bad at all. But the portion was modest for the price and that oil slick made it feel smaller than it was. The chapati behaved like a polite bit of bread and nothing more. I can't say this first experience wowed me. The menu itself feels full of promise and variety, so if I find myself in the area again I might very well stop by and try something else from it, but this first exposure left me somewhat underwhelmed and thinking of other plans for dinner.

As other reviewers have shared, the decor over the years has improved slightly, but I can't say this would be the play to go for ambiance. And in the setting of the many Indian restaurants in NJ, if you are looking for vibes, dining here would not provide that. As for the food, Khasiyat is known for their parathas and they are always good but definitely challenging to have for takeout. I am actually a bigger fan of their khasta kachori which comes in a generous portion and can be taken to-go with the components separated. Unfortunately, the challenge here is related to service. There have been many times that I have called in ahead of time to place an order for pickup and despite arriving at their recommended time, the food is not ready and I have waited up to an additional 15-20 minutes. If you're there during off-peak hours, that may help though this inconsistency has made it challenging for me to want to continue to go back.
