This place has the best South Indian food of any restaurant I have ever been. The food is just delicious: hot, fresh, crispy dosas served with hot, spicy sambhar and a variety of chutneys. My favorite is the tomato kind! I also love the weekday lunch buffet. For a reasonable price, you have access to unlimited quantities of hot vadas (fritters), sambhar, rasam, flavored rice, and a rotating variety of curries. You can also pick a small order of dosa, cooked to order. I like to get the cheese dosa, stuffed with the perfect amount of melty cheese. If buffets are not your thing, be sure to visit for dinner. There are tons of options for dosas, fluffy idlis, different types of vadas. Literally heaven; the only downfall is the inevitable food coma that follows a meal here. read more

My first choice for a buffet is Dosa Grill, that's mostly because of the quality of the food they offer. You get to pick your own variety of dosa which comes free with ever buffet. Based the food taste I assume that they always use quality ingredients. Their wife variety of Vegetarian food would be preferred choice for many veggie folks. Next best thing about this place is their staffs are very friendly and helpful. They also maintain this place very clean. During week end they buffet is costs you few extra bucks but it's ok as that's when they add few extra dishes as well. This was another Yelp find for me. I'd been craving Indian food and wasn't quite sure which to choose from since there are so many Indian restaurant in this area. Vegetarian Indian is always a safe bet for me (except for eggplant), and given the good reviews we saw, figured this place was worth a shot. The restaurant is in a non-descript strip mall with another Indian restaurant at the end of the plaza. The decor of the place isn't anything special, however that wasn't the reason I was there. I came for the buffet- and it was worth the trip! Although you can order from a printed menu, most people seem to opt for the buffet which has a wide range of selections on it- some were Indian dishes that I'd had before, others looked completely new to me. I think my favorite part was one of the soups they had on- it was brown colored, with some vegetables, but a nice spice kick. Wish I'd had made not of what type it was so that I could get it again. It does seem interesting that apparently you can haggle on prices here. Although I didn't myself, a family came in after us and seemed to successfully negotiate the price of the kids buffet down to $6.95. read more

We didn't plan to come here for lunch today. The sushi place we planned to go to was not opening till late afternoon and the rairai ramen next door is under renovation. We were starving after all the bad luck we had with the restaurants so we decided to give it a try. It's a Vegetarian indian buffet style restaurant. So if you want Meat this isn't the place to be....the indian places I have been to so far are all not strictly vegetarian so I'm not very used to this. Besides that the dishes were all very mediocre and even the nann bread....best thing I enjoyed was the mango keasri and the ice cream lol Will not be coming back....and lunch buffet was 12.95 a person....and mango lassi that was almost 5 dollars....I think I'll save my money for the other indian restaurants..... read more

We got takeout Dosas on Labor Day. Some assembly is required. Toast your dosa in toaster oven, heat up potato salad and sambar. Stuff potato salad into hot dosa and dip into sambar or eat it like soup. Samosas were great, sambar was great, it was a wonderful meal. I think they should get a Dymo label maker and label the plastic containers, it can be confusing. The sambar was a delicious lentil soup with potatoes and carrots. I wasn't crazy about the brothy rasam. Palak paneer was tasty but a little sweet. Highly recommended! read more

This was our second take out experience (route 27 location) and it did not disappoint . The breads were outstanding. The samosas were light, crispy, and tasty. The palak paneer and the aloo gobi were terrific- each with distinctive and perfectly spiced flavors. The staff is exceedingly kind, even willing to bring the food to my car for curbside delivery. Food: 4.5/5 - The food is delicious, fresh, and the portions are big. Mysore masala dosa is my favorite. I've also tried the onion chili rava, which was nice and crispy, but it was very bland - If you like spice, I recommend adding the Mysore paste/extra chilies in any dosa that you order. For apps, my favorites are the rasam and papdi chat. Ambiance: Not fancy by any means, but they keep it clean. Service: The few times that I've eaten here, I've noticed only one waiter that runs around tending to all the customers. I think his name was Rajiv. Consistent..... consistently good. I've been coming here for the last 8+ years whenever my family craves dosas. I always get the Onion Rava Masala Dosa as that is my favorite. Every time I've been here, the dosa has tasted exactly the same.... excellent! The masala is generous and I'm provided with enough chutneys to complement my dish. The prices are pretty normal for the area, so I can't really complain! Every year, they've also added items to the menu to cater to people who want north indian dishes and kids who want dosas that are kid-friendly and/or less spicy. Went to eat at buffet and was told the buffet would b closed in 5 min. Wich means the time would be 2:45pm. But the daily lunch buffet closes at 3pm But was told I could still eat for the last 5 minutes but b charged full price... Even tho they are suppose to b open till 3pm Wich he confirmed ....both gentleman that were working when I walked in even looked as if they were upset that I was there a half hour before closing ... And did that intentionally so I would not stay and they could clean up and leave asap...I couldn't believe it.. Dosa Grill has a very good vegetarian menu. The appetizer were delicious, but when we ordered some items from the main menu, they were even better, especially their palak dal and naan. We stumbled on this hole in the wall place. Kind of defined unassuming. Other than the name on the shopping center's roadside sign we wouldn't have known it was there. We actually checked that it was really open for business before turning the car off... so unassuming. Though hole in the wall-ish it has a fair amount of seating. Twice as much as it appeared to from outside. We were in for other surprises. First, the menu was entirely vegetarian. For a vegetarian, this is quite exciting. They didn't advertise as such, but that's the deal. Delicious appetizers and choices of south Indian Utthapums and Dosas awaited us. They also have several dessert and north Indian dishes available. We got a delicious pakora appetizer two dosas that were enormous, for only 9 or 10 dollars each. It was just insane as they were delicious and served with two sauces and a lentil "soup." So we intend to return repeatedly. Clearly authentic... all the other customers were of Indian descent... and there were a lot. Despite it being 7 or 8 on a summer Sunday evening, more and more people kept pouring in non-stop. It was almost completely full by the time we left. We felt sorry for the two waiters and one busboy. They clearly needed more staff. Service could be a little faster and more attentive, but was friendly enough. Also, though I expect it to be somewhat spicy, I think it was a little too spicy for "mild". If you offer a dish made mild, it should be mildly spicy, not significantly spicy. Yes, I have a western taste bias, but am not unfamiliar at all with Indian food, and that wasn't mild. If I wanted medium I would have ordered medium. But how can you really complain at these prices? I have to admit after my 1st Dosa experience which was less then fullfilling, my 2nd was more satisfying now that expectations were set and self control administered. Kinda digging those crispy savory pressed pancakes from South India which is thier staple food in that home region, in the rest of the country too, as per Wikepedia. They are fun and light and GLUTEN free for those affected. I like the cheese Dosa with the caramelized crispy cheese. My first experience supplied a colon cleansing that was not soon to be forgotten. So this time I modified my spice intake and chose not to gorge on that which may cause later concern. Today's buffet offers quite the selection former some Tandoori vegetarian favs to the wide combinations sauces and rice porridge which I enjoyed. No, I won't attempt to name them or expand upon individual dishes that I'm not overly familiar with, but the word fun comes to mind. Exceptional service ( it was buffet day though, lol) friendly and warm. I dont belive this will climb to the top of of Mt. local chow routine, but a good healthy consumption to be had especially with a group. Of course those that dig Southern Indian food love it. Offering a full menu of vegetarian and vegan selections sets it as a foolproof place for a person who eats no meat, fish or poultry! Oh man, I've been lookin for South Indian food for a LONG time. If you're looking for naan, tandoori anything, or meat in general, look elsewhere, as this place is for serious veg-only dining :) It may take a while for one to comprehend the menu but really, a lot of the things in the same category only differ on the toppings. Dosas are the mainstay of this establishment (if you couldn't tell by the name ;p) and they're basically like an Indian salty crepe.. Can someone help me out with another description? In any case, you're served with a variety of dips and fillings and if you like spices, you've come to the right place. I personally came here with 3 of my friends and we basically family styled across a bunch of dishes. I can't remember exactly what we got but the dosas are great and if you haven't tried em before, get them SPICY! They're pretty filling though especially if you get the ones with potato inside... 2 of us got dinner thali's which is basically a south Indian variety plate. You're presented with a bunch of dip/sauces with which to drown your breaded accompaniments. Probably your best bet for a quick intro to what South India's all about. Be warned though, one of the dips packs a mean punch so if you're a lightweight spice eater, make sure you get lots of yogurt on the side! It works wonders! We also got mango lassis and those definitely hit the spot... mmmm Pros: Cheap! Filling! Loaded with flavor! I am not a vegetarian but love coming here for Indian food. The place is pretty divy but the food is excellent. The servers are really nice and are happy to give you explanations or suggestions on the food. The food also comes out at a good time and in really good portions. I've tried the Dosas but am now trying the meals with naan. I still can't complain. I can finish the meal without feeling over stuffed but ready to go home and relax. read more

The food here is simply delectable. An unreserved five stars from me. Don't miss it. Anyone passing through the area, or who lives within a forty-five minute drive, should consider this a must. I especially recommend the Uttapan, and the spinach dosa; I would also like to implore any visitor who has not tried it before to sample their incredible gulab jamun (dessert). I usually have come here for the buffet which has always lived up to my expectations. And it's really a lot of food - it's very generous for them to give you a dosa in addition to everything that's already available in the buffet. The buffet includes south indian stuff like idly, sambar and uppma - which i usually just have at home and haven't seen in restaurants AND north indian curries that are delicious. 12 dollars each is an great price for all of this. The atmosphere itself is quite nice actually - the art on the walls isn't hideous and there is always a pleasant hum of voices in the room, it's never super loud. Service is very courteous (our waiter even told us to "take care of ourselves" when we left which I found very sweet) and timely. I always look forward to coming here! read more

This was SUCH a treat! I was in town on business, and was looking for a gluten free friendly establishment for a business lunch. We stumbled upon Dosa, and at first, noticed it was a buffet. Now, I absolutely am freaked out by buffets. They look sweaty and desolate and never fresh. Since it was only 20 minutes into them being open, my coworker and I took a chance. It was LOVELY. Every dish was fully explained to us* and the prices were beyond reasonable. We walked out wanting a nap. Being from Chicago, we have our Devon Ave - and this was just enough to tie me over until I get back home. The cheese Dosa was absolutely brilliant! *my asterisks is due to who explained everything to me. It was this wonderful older man who is just your local foodie. He literally eats there at least once a week. If you get the pleasure of meeting him, have him give you a tour of "the taste of North Brunswick". I visited Dosa Grill on a Monday. The interior is "cafeteria style" and not very impressive, but you come for the food anyway. I had visited Chand Palace (Piscataway, NJ) earlier in the weekend so I guess I had high expectations for Dosa Grill. What I liked: their daal, desserts, the dosa (whoa, D spree) and chana masala. What I didn't like: the rude man sitting behind me who berated me for bumping into his chair AFTER i said sorry, the service, the naan and the choice of entrees. Dosa Grill isn't bad by any means, but it just didn't live up to my expectations. I would choose other vegetarian buffets over Dosa Grill, even if they're more expensive (cough cough: Chand Palace) because once you've had the best, you just can't settle. Still, Dosa Grill is pretty solid and for the price, a good deal in the area for a vegetarian buffet. read more

First timer! Ordered Rasam for appetizer.. it was decent good. A bit tangy like it's suppose to be just wished it was a bit more spicier. This rasam was less on the spice side and i like my rasam both tangy and spicy. Now for the main course: i ordered a masala rava dosa which is my usual fav dosa anywhere i go. I was a bit disappointed. The dosa wasn't well done and the aloo masala it came with was bland. The sambhar was on the bland side as well. Usually if a dosa is not spicy, then i would expect either the aloo masala (the filling they serve in a bowl) or the sambhar to be spicy so it balances out. I'm so used to sipping a spicy sambhar everywhere else i go so this was a bit disappointing. On the other side: my dad ordered a tomato onion chilli uthapam which is kinda like a veggie indian pancake. That was yummy as hell. Again the sambar was disappointing.. please make it spicier. It lacks an oomph! The best part about my dish was the coconut chutney!! Thumps up!! Madd good and trust me, i'm a bit picky about food and the whole essence of the dish. I like to enjoy my food. Anyways, i'll def come again to try their exclusive south indian dosas.. cant wait to try their andhera or chettinaad dosas. We went in for dinner as a big group. Being South Indian, the dosas definitely had to be more than good for us to like them. Really enjoyed our meal. I had a mysore masala dosa. Great choice. Just the right amount of everything. My husband had a gongura masala dosa. It was really tasty with raw onions on the inside really adding to the flavor. We also had a couple of ghee roast dosas and utthappams at the table. Overall, a great experience and would love to go back for a good dosa. The dosas are pretty big and very filling for one person. Not a fancy place, but I'm not eating the decor. The rasam (I'm a little crazy (picky) about rasam), dosas, uthappams, and anything else I've ever gotten there has been really good. The staff is nice. They don't come up and ask you if you're okay over and over- it's just not that kind of place- but they are friendly and kind of hang on the sidelines waiting for you to snag their attention. It's actually pleasant not having to answer waiters check in questions with a full mouth so I appreciate that approach. The prices are very reasonable. I'm glad I found this place. read more
