    Dinner time

I've visited this restaurant a couple times, but feel the need to give three stars. The staff are extremely friendly and fast with the service; the large screen TVs make the dining experience great. However, the last couple times I walked into the restaurant, it smelled like dirty towels. The prices are great for the amount of food we get. I tried the regular dosa, rava dosa and masala dosa. The first 2 were delicious and worth ordering again. The Masala dosa...not so much because of the weird combo of undercooked lentils with peas and carrots. Why not just seasoned potatoes and onions? The chutneys are all great, my favorite is the white-colored one, I'm not sure what flavor it is. I think if it weren't for the strong smell and the masala dosa fillings, I'd give 4 stars. I definitely would return though, next time I have a dosa craving.

This place is mind blowing! Love love the food here. The servers literally recognize you by your faces and always very welcoming. So glad to have an excellent experience so close to our home. Ghee roast dosa is as long as the width of the table. My most favorite is onion rava dosa. Ty

Dosas feed my soul and my belly! I came across Dosa Grill last week after a doctor's appointment and have been craving dosas all week! So happy to have a follow up appointment and dosa fix today! The dosas are light, soft and crispy all at the same time! I love the chutney accompaniment and sambar too! We got the Masala dosa and keema dosa and both were good.

Brought the family here to dine in. The space is rather small and has a diner vibe to it, but the staff was very friendly. We were a little confused regarding if we needed to order at the register, then sit down, or sit down and then someone would take our order. We ended up doing both but I think in the future that protocol is to sit down first. On to the food. This was our first time ever having dosa and we will absolutely be back in the future! The chicken dosa was our big favorite. This is a big meal for 1 or could easily be split among a few people if you wanted to share. The masala dosa was also great. The dosa crepes were pliable but quite crispy. They were served with 3 sauces and a delicious soup. The white sauce had a strong peanut/sesame flavor to it and was my favorite, followed by the green with orange being 3rd (orange one had more floral herbal flavors to it). We also got the gobi manchurian (fried cauliflower) at medium spice. This was delicious and way frankly much better than the recent trend of "general tso's cauliflower" at a lot of other restaurants. The flavor reminds me a lot of vinegar based hot sauce but they knocked this out of the park. I can't wait to try some of the other fried dishes they offer! The food came out very quick once the order was put in. I'll say again that the staff was very welcoming to our family and the kids. They even gave our kids complementary mango smoothies (which they didn't drink so my wife and I did). I think the texture (very smooth/creamy) is not something that is typical in the states but the flavor is good. I would describe it as a very thick mango milk. If you're into that, then you'll enjoy it. Overall, strongly recommend this place especially to anyone who hasn't had dosa. While it's an ethnic food establishment with primarily patrons more familiar with the food, we felt very welcomed and are already looking forward to our next visit!

Service was good, food was okay and arrived very quickly. The bathroom and hallway leading to the bathroom was a filthy mess. I asked for the chicken biryani (boneless) but the server told me they were out of it. Instead went with the boneless butter chicken. There was no naan bread, but they do have roti. Price was reasonable. This is a fast food place with plastic silverware and disposable cups.

**To Go Order** Worth it? No Repeat? Not anymore The quality and service has gone significantly down since this place opened. Agree with others recently about the wait times on takeout. Placed the order 5:48pm, got told it would be ready in 10-15 minutes. Ended up getting it at 6:30 without any reasoning from the two workers on the hold up. Do not get the Roti. It is 4 tortilla that they don't even bother cooking for $2.99. Straight robbery Unlike other Indian places around, you can't change the spice level of butter chicken. It was still the best dish out from the take out. ~Samosa Chaat. Decent - Chicken Vindaloo. They could make this extra spicy but there was zero flavor. The potatoes didn't taste that fresh -Masala Dosa. Not a lot of flavor and you make it yourself as it comes all separate..

A wheat tortilla to trick you into thinking it's a dosa?

I've been here before and know their food is pretty good. I called in an order for briyani and butter chicken today and was told 20-25 minutes. 45 minutes later my food was finally ready- with no sorry it took longer. Actually I walked in and was ignored for 5-10 minutes while I even waited to ask for my food. Mango lassi was good but lukewarm since they have it pre poured in an open faced fridge. The vegetable briyani was great and had a nice spice. The butter chicken needed spice (which they didn't ask me if I wanted when ordering). The kicker is they did NOT give me a side of naan for free- I understand perhaps it's no longer free. But to add insult to injury they served the food with a wheat tortilla??? Why would an Indian place serve food with a wheat tortilla? Never in my life have I see something like that before. Not sure if it's purposely done to be cheap or to trick people who don't know better but it's just rude. Decent food- bad service and bad business practices.

My family has been to Dosa Grill a few times, however my recent visit was the first time I decided to try them out. I decided to get a classic dosa to see if the dosa lived up to its namesake, and it did not disappoint. It was crispy and the sambar was piping hot and had flavor. The trio of chutneys served alongside were also good. We also liked the chicken lollipop dish we ordered. It was spicy and crunchy; a good appetizer. Service was alright and the food was good. Enough reasons for us to come back again.

Hands down the best Dosa and Upma in town!! I am an Indian American and I know my Indian food, let me tell you this is by far the best Dosa you will in Virginia!! Dosa is perfectly roasted with the right ratio of crispiness vs softness and my choice - MLA dosa comes with the filling - Upma with shredded onions and chillies. I have been coming here for a year and they never disappoint- the only negative remark I have is that they need to hire more staff for the busy hours on weekends. Wait can get quite unbearable at times (30-45 mins)

I've been here a few times now and I've grown to really like it. The dosas are really good and you really get your bang for your buck. My favorite is the plain dosa.

We went with a large group for a very late lunch this past Sunday, which worked out perfectly because we could order a ton of food and try a bit of everything. Despite it being well past lunch hour, at least half of the tables were still filled. Service was a bit slow, though, and we spent a fair amount of time waiting for our server to take our order or for our food to arrive. PACHI MIRCHI GOBI - 13.99 The fried cauliflower was crunchy and loaded with chilis, spices, and aromatics. Sadly, there was also an aggressive amount of cilantro, so I spent more time than I'd like picking the leaves off my food. Still, it was a good appetizer to keep us from getting too cranky while waiting for our entrees. PANEER MAJESTIC - 14.99 The paneer was cut in the shape of Fritos corn chips, which was something I hadn't seen before. It was quite saucy, but the thin, small pieces felt overcooked and had more of a firm tofu-like texture than the soft, mozzarella-like texture I was hoping for. There was also, unfortunately, more cilantro. TANDOORI CHICKEN - 17.99 This came out sizzling in a skillet, and the fragrant smoke immediately made my mouth water. It was already 3 PM and I was hungry, so the timing couldn't have been better. Each piece was incredibly well-seasoned and juicy. My tongue was burning a little by the end, but I didn't care because it tasted so amazing straight off the skillet. I'd highly recommend this. CURRY LEAF CHICKEN - 14.99 I've never had curry leaf chicken before, but I'm officially a fan. The chicken was tender, bathed generously in a curry leaf-based sauce with a complex depth of flavor. I couldn't quite tell you what all the spices were, but I knew I kept reaching back for another piece. CHICKEN DUM BIRYANI - 14.99 A pretty standard Hyderabadi-style biryani, with the chicken tucked underneath the generously spiced rice. Each bite had a nice dry heat, and the chicken was pretty good, but it wasn't particularly memorable compared to some of the other dishes we ordered. MUTTON BIRYANI (GOAT) - 16.99 This is my friend's favorite biryani, and after trying it, I can see why. Similar to the chicken biryani, the mutton was served underneath the rice, but the meat itself was the star. It was incredibly tender and not gamey at all, with rich, fatty flavors that elevated the biryani. If there was one entree I kept reaching for, it was this one. I'd highly recommend it. MANGO LASSI - 6.49 A bit pricy, but smooth, rich, and creamy with a refreshing mango flavor and a tough of yogurty acidity. It was exactly what I needed to cool down from all the spice. Overall, the food was packed with spices and flavor, the prices were reasonable, and we were completely stuffed. The biryani portions were massive -- I couldn't easily turn one serving into three meals. If I lived nearby, I'd definitely be picking up a biryani to-go.

We rolled the dice anyway and let's just say, they weren't wrong. Lol. We had to ask the waiter to upgrade our carafe from room temp water to ice water and Naani (sp?) stopped by our table to check in on our experience. We let him know the "mild" had a bit more of a kick than we expected. He recommended we use yogurt and had some brought to the table. He was very friendly and easy to talk to. Each dish was $16 and I was impressed with the portion size. They don't even charge for extra rice. Next time we'll skip the biryani since it was too spicy and just order the extra rice.

The place was clean, I could even see in the kitchen and it looked nice. Service was fine. The menu is filled with the typical Pakistani/Indian delights. We tried their chicken tikka (boneless) kabob. The flavors were really good and the meat was tender. It came out perfect. The naan was incredibly soft and perfect texture and density too. Their veggie biryani was more of a mix of curry into the rice, versus the right way of making it with curry folded into the rice with some other colored rices folded in as well. The flavors were just a messy/overall single flavor, rather than tasting the different flavors. The karahi was really just a stewed chicken curry, versus a freshly made stir fried (in a karahi) style curry with fresh tomatoes and chicken. I could tell by how melty and stewed down the chicken was. Overall, the flavor was ok, but it didn't resemble the karahi I'm familiar with from making it and eating it in Pakistani family kitchens over the years. Just not a place I'll frequent as often anymore, unfortunately. Really had hoped this wouldn't happen because they were so awesome when they opened. While still a decent tasting pizza, the value just isn't there anymore. The crust used to have this unique crunchy chewy texture and was really tasty. Now, the crust seems to be more like that thin cardboardy kinda crust many pizza places unfortunately have. Just kinda yucky and ruins the pizza. We used to really enjoy their other non pizza menu items, too, but they're just not appealing anymore, the portions have really shrunk, and are now really pricey for what you get. They never fill beverage cups so that they're full & they use small cups as it is. Masala Pizza was never inexpensive to begin with, and now prices have gone up at least $2-$3 an item. Value has plummeted. I believe I could get grub I'm happier with and probably more of it than spending $50 on a couple of thin, rather skimpy mediocre pizzas. To be honest, I'd rather just spend the money at the grocery store to eat for a week. Too much cumulative skimping they probably hope you won't notice while your dollars free flow into their possession. Service is always polite & it's still pretty easy to place orders. There are a few small tables inside which won't accommodate groups, though we were once told that we could sit outside at the tea place next door. More fitting as a place to primarily pick up your food and go.

I think the mango lassi was a bit small for it's price but tasted homemade. The goat was extremely spicy for me, even after I was asked how spicy I would like it, and I replied very mild, not spicy. It's was difficult to eat it without a lot of extra toppings and sauces to make it more mild, but then my rice turned into soup. I think that if you normally like the spices that made with Indian food you'll agree with the other reviewers here that it's a nice place to eat. For me it too hot and spicy! As a bonus they offered me to try their desert: Mango Rabadi and a small sample of their chicken kabob. The Mango Rabadi was very good, a pleasant sweetened dessert, but the chicken kabob was also super spicy for me but full of flavor!
