Great service, excellent food! I need to dine here more often. I love Gobi Manchurian and Kadai Chicken... they were accommodating by substituting bone-in chicken with boneless chicken and when I asked for spicy, they didn't disappoint! They left a pitcher of water at the table, so I could refill my own cup as often as I liked without having to ask a waiter. I am always mesmerized by the Bollywood dancing on theor TV screens when I pop in. Give them a try. read more

Awesome fresh made to order food. We got chicken 65 dosa and onion rava masala dosa. The chutneys are lip smacking good. The owner took good care of customers. Had our first dinner here on the eve of Diwali and totally enjoyed our meal. Large generous portions, with good service and an excellent host. If you are unfamiliar with Indian cuisine, they will guide you through the menu. First impressions count. Upon walking in - the restaurant smelt delicious. I was greeted by an indifferent waiter who pointed to a table and told me "sit." A laminated menu was supplied along a filled pitcher of water. No glassware and no silverware. I looked around on the table and found a pile of disposable cups and mis-matched plastic cutlery. These were stored along the wall were the Dry Wall had been scraped off. When inquiring about the menu and how items were prepared - I obviously had inconvenienced the waiter, who made it clear he was annoyed. I didn't order but politely stated "thank you" and left. Too bad - the scents emerging from the kitchen definitely smelled good. It's a "no frills" place from start to finish. Perhaps with tasty food, but I will not be returning. read more

Excellent customer service! The staff treated us like family. My wife and I decided to bring our three children in to try dosas for their first time, but were were hungry, so we ended up ordering a lot of food. It was all very tasty. The waiter recommended a spinach pakora (excellent choice) with a chutney side. We all loved it. The masala dosa was great, albeit somewhat spicy for the kids. The sauces, particularly the lentil dip and peanut sauce were excellent. Their chicken tikka masala and dahl mahkani were very flavorful. The mango lassi was refreshing. Where I think the restaurant went above and beyond, though, was in their customer service. They were so attentive and patient, often bringing us extra sauces without even asking. They made us feel as if we were guests, not customers. It was an extremely comfortable experience. One final tip: While I enjoy spicy food, our kids do not. If you are not a fan of spice, ask for a mild version of the dishes, as the regular version can be on the spicier side. read more

Better than your average Indian restaurant.... I didn't go with the house specialty "Dosa" since I was doing take out. I like my dosa hot and fresh from the kitchen. In the mean time, I sampled the mango lassi which was just a tad too sweet for my taste. It was still refreshingly good on a hot day and one of the better ones I've had in a while. The samosa was surprisingly light and still crisp after a fifteen minutes drive home. The accompanying sauces were perfect. It was a tasty introduction to the meal. I decided on traditional Indian restaurant fair.....because if they don't do it right what's the point of trying other items on the menu? The Chicken Tikka Marsala was good and the spice correctly at the level I requested. There was a decent amount of chicken throughout the dish (ahem to Punjabi Junction). The Bhindi Marsala was decent. I'm a sucker for okra and it was cooked well. It wasn't overdone leaving the veg mushy or slimy from being underdone. It was a good dish. The Rasmalai is one of my fav desserts. It was well prepared in its fragrant, sweet, milky goodness. A small suggestion....allow smaller order sizes and prices for the vegetarian dishes. I would have ordered several and they would have made more money off me than one veg entree. Unfortunately, it seemed to me over the years this location seemed cursed (Life Honey). There has been a few start up restaurants open and close in this space. I hope this one stays longer than most. If they keep the same quality of food then they will last longer. Nothing kills a restaurant faster than bad food. I look forward to sitting down and having a dosa the next time I come through. read more

Was really excited to try this place. Got a quick opportunity and my kids were in a mood for Dosa. Went in, got seated immediately. Only a few customers were there. Order was taken almost immediately. Then the drama began. Within minutes the place was filled with people, with a waiting line. Our food came out after 50 minutes, my children were starving and this Mama bear was not happy at all. I kept reminding my server that our food is not out yet. I mean ... can't they see that we are sitting there forever !! Are we invisible !!!! I saw all the dosas being rushed passed in front of our eyes to the people who were seated much later than us. I also saw partial behavior towards customers by the manager / owner, I don't know. We were three families who came earlier, but were not being served. All of them were getting antsy, for obvious reasons. Apologies came for messing up our order and being excruciatingly late, from the kitchen manager. I was disappointed with the behavior of the owner (may be he was manager) behaved like we didn't exist. He kept watching us and the other two families and he was the one who seated us, it didn't occur to him that we were not served with food and people after us were almost leaving now? He was very apathetic, unfriendly and rude to some extent , zero management skills, yelling at times to the kitchen workers inside. That's not a sign of a good owner or manager. You see I was frustrated, my kids were hungry, I had a time crunch and I had unwanted 50 minutes to kill, I observed everything. Clean up your act, or you will be gone because of horrible customer service. Food is good, but rest of your act is inexcusable. read more

Their dosa is actually one my favorites and so is the chicken biryani. All the sauces and raita it comes with it tastes amazing and compliments the main dish so well. I love going here for a quick bite and it's so convenient. Service is actually always good when I go there too. Definitely will be back again. read more

I am one of their oldest customers and now noticing their quality of food going down. They recently increased prices of almost 30%. Previously when we order dosa, the manager used to come and ask if we needed more sambhar. They would customize our dosa order. Yesterday when we went, they now charged extra $2.00 for sambhar. The dosa potato masala quality was bad and tasted old, with no onions. The quantity of potato masala was also lower than in past. The potato and onion Dosi was a great appetizer (I think it's called masala Dosi). This was the first time I have ever had Dosi despite being to many Indian restaurants. The chicken curry was good. The curry part of it was great, the chicken part was ok. The vegetarian Korma was very good. The portions were large and we ended up taking half home. Have low expectations with regard to service (language barrier and just some oddities) and high expectations for the food. Make sure to ask for the full descriptive menu. read more

Saw the post about DOSA GRILL VA the other day on a local review page (about how helpful they were to someone with car trouble) so I decided to stop by and give it a try. BACKGROUND: I moved to India for a year with my family for work and since coming back, I haven't been able to find certain Indian dishes that tasted as good as they did in India. I must say- not only was the food as good as it was in India, but the customer service was AMAZING! We ordered the masala dosa, samosa chat, and the veg Uttapam- and it was to DIE for. Everyone at the restaurant was so kind and welcoming and really went above and beyond. I have never posted a review (negative or positive) but this experience was worth sharing. I would give a -1 star if I had to. They are bloody thieves. I asked for sambhar only and they first said only with food. I used to buy just sambhar all the time. I asked for plate of idli and addition sambhar. Once I paid he told me to wait 30 mins. Shouldn't he have told me before I paid? I see only 2 people sitting in restaurant and 30 min wait. Ridiculous. First time -- shopping and extremely hungry. Wow! Best among best. Ginger shrimp appetizer - - very spicy and very tasty! The peppered chicken dish is to die for! Both dishes will certainly wake up your taste buds! Served with a dry and fluffy rice and some very nice, thin bread. Employees were extremely friendly and helpful. Service excellent. I need to preface this by saying I absolutely love everything I have ordered from here, especially the samosa chaat and I had such high hopes for the biryani based on numerous positive google reviews. Given the amount of time I waited for my food I just knew it would taste fresh and delicious. I was so excited to dig in! After several bites I had to conclude not to continue eating this dish. The rice was hard, very oily, and there were several pieces of an unidentifiable substance....perhaps cartridge from the chicken? And the bottom where the meat was was nearly cold! And the rice also was lukewarm at best. Willing to bet they just popped this in the microwave and it was inconsistently heated plus probably at least a day or so old. In any case I decided to not continue eating to avoid getting a stomach ache and into the trash went $15. I guess I will be sticking to the items I know they do well here versus trying to be adventurous with the variety of items on the menu. read more

Was excited to try a new restaurant in town. This space used to be a cafe with modern decor and inviting seating; it has now been stripped to it's bones and replaced with hideous red booths and generic tables. The wait to get seated was quick but once seated we received no attention for 15 mins and had to ask for water. Ordered the plain dosa, chicken tikka masala, and samosas. Food took about 15 mins to come out. Overall, the food was good. I'm rating it a 3 (I would give 2.5 if I could) based on slow service, dirty appearance (the person wiping the tables was also serving the food and refilling the plastic utensils at the tables), and filthy bathroom. If I go back again, I would stick to calling ahead and carrying out as I would not spend another minute in such an uninviting and dirty space. read more

Visited Dosa grill on a Saturday evening with family. There wasn't much waiting. Child/family friendly place. Clean place and good food. Variety of dosas available but Dosa wasn't up to the mark but other items we ordered was excellent, especially pepper chicken. Price was reasonable. Service was appreciable though they seems to have less people to serve, which made a bit delayed service but they were always ready and willing to serve. I would recommend to other friends. Went on a weekday..wasn't really jam packed..we placed order for three dishes from the menu to go..we specifically mentioned not to add chili in the onion uttapam( as on menu it said chili onion uttapam)..and the wait time was given 25 min..after 30min we are told one of the dish ordered cannot be fulfilled.. Would have appreciated if he would have told us within those 30min..and we wouldn't have to wait further..once we got the food home..there were still chilies in the uttapam..BAD BAD service..no apologies..dinner was doomed..they definitely overcharge for quantity compared to other South Indian restaurant..won't come back again! read more

1st time here today. Completely stunned by the fact that this is the 1st dosa restaurant I've ever been to where they serve meat as well. I ordered the masala dosa with Sambar and was blown away by the authenticity of the taste. On top of that, they were selling Thums Up drink which is the best carbonated soda much better than Coke and Pepsi and it's a great combo drink with any Indian dish. Will come here again. read more

I'm so glad there's finally a good Indian place in this area. Staff was friendly (and patient) and service was quick. I'd never had a dosa before and got the chicken one. The dosa itself was satisfyingly crunchy, and the chicken filling was spiced perfectly. The sauces that come with the dosa were unique and flavorful. The friend I was with got the butter chicken and said it was the best she'd ever had. I tried the butter chicken sauce and it was super creamy. We also tried the mango lassi, which was really sweet but balanced out by the delightful sour taste. The portions were really big so it was perfect for sharing and we have leftovers. The calm nature of the food, decor, and overall flow of the restaurant was really comforting. They give each table its own pitcher of water and each table comes equipped with a little section of napkins, plastic forks, spoons, and cups. I don't like the plastic use but this place is casual so I would feel comfortable breaking out my own water bottle and reusable utensils next time. read more

Had a very poor experience Friday night. Ordered masala dosa for takeout and then realized at home that they had packed a plain dosa (no masala/potato filling). No problem, they have done this many times and I have always gone back to pick masala or a replacement and used to it from this place. But yesterday, the guy who came on phone refused to even accept that they packed it wrong. He asked me to check for separate box of masala which wasn't there. Then he told me to check again inside the dosa, not once but twice. I got bit frustrated at that so he called in another person who did the same. Are there bunkers and hidden areas inside the dosa, that it will take 4-5 times to figure out that there is no potato filling in there. On top of it, they offered no refund and did not offer a replacement either. Then finally asking me 'how do you want to resolve this'. So I told him that I will come pick a replacement. His answer to that was - kitchen is being closed so can't do that. And that was it. Absolutely poor service and ruined our Friday dinner. Never going to this place again. read more

Their biryani's strikes the palate of Hyderabdi..only issue happened with me repeatedly was on their take out where I received burnt layer of rice..but they were atleast attentive enough to replace for free(most Indian restaurants argue and usually avoid replacing)..portions of take out curries are small.overall definitely a try. read more

I do not consider Dosa Grill to be a safe place to dine during the pandemic. Overall the establishment was below average on cleanliness, especially the hallway outside the kitchen and bathroom. Workers from the kitchen emerged without wearing masks as did a server who appeared to arrive for work without a mask and with little concern about wearing one until I stared him down with the evil eye. Dinnerware is plastic utensils unwrapped and stuffed into plastic holders on the tables with the eating part exposed to germs and touches by others who ate the table before you arrived. Same with water glasses. Plastic cups stacked on the table all day & for multiple days for you to drink from when the server gets around to placing a pitcher of water on your table. When I picked up a cup, I got 2 and was forced to put my hand on the rim to pull it apart and realized that somebody else before I got there likely had the same experience touching the rim of a cup that was now expected to drink from. The food is only mediocre and on the low end of the mediocre because they are cutting corners with meat. For example, staple chicken dishes that are normally served elsewhere with chicken breast such as chicken marsala and butter chicken, are served with lower quality boneless, skinless chicken thighs. I will never go back due to uncleanliness. I would never order carryout because of the poor quality and unmasked workers. read more
