Just as we were done wandering, our table was called. I had the corned beef sandwich, toasted, and a side of potato salad. My wife had the chopped chicken liver appetizer and the potato latke appetizer. The food was very good and the service was friendly and efficient. I would definitely go again. They close at 3 pm and are NOT open for dinner.

Booths and bar tables. Not sure if they take reservations. Street parking. They promoted POTATO & DUCK PIEROGIES on the show so I ordered it. Came in 3 with broth. Very flavorful and fulfilling. We also got cinnamon bagel with cream cheese, eggs and Reuben (I think). Fresh and good portion. Staff were friendly. She answered our questions patiently and she was very nice.

HOLY BUSY BATMAN! This place sure gets packed on a Friday night. Hard to locate unless you have been here before, you are sure to question where it is (even the front door) unless you see returning guests kinda showing you the way. Parking is all street, so hope that someone is leaving when you arrive. With the long wait, we eventually found a spot at the bar to sit (a place i typically prefer to sit at if i can normally). Ordering took a bit of time, not because we were unsure of what we wanted, but mostly because no one stopped to take our order. When we finally placed our orders, that is mostly where the attention on us stopped. Between all the TV's going with the various basketball games to the loud out-of-towners beside us, we were already regretting coming here. The most entertainment came from watchling the kitchen staff make the meals and wondering what they were making in the process. When we finally got our meals, we were even less than impressed. My out-of-town guest had a steak ordered that was far past the mid-rare he had ordered and my meal was less than stellar either. Even the two out-of-town couples beside us had their meals a mess. As someone who prefer to support local business, I was less than impressed with the food we received. Grated, they had some stellar specials but for some, the prices were that of Cheesecake Factory with less pizazz. Will not tolerate bad behavior! First experience at this place and my last! Visiting some friends who recommended we stop in. Had trouble finding the place and the girls on the phone had know idea how to get to their place of employment! Sat at the bar and waited for service for what seemed an eternity. Finally a girl said hello to us, but didn't identify herself, nor tell us she would be right with us. 10 minutes later I had no menu and still no waitress. Needless to say, I was getting a bit pissed off. I then asked another girl for water and to see menus, she rudely said another waitress would get our order. I was DONE! I then found out she was the manager. What a witch! She has no business dealing with people and the genius that made her a manager should have his head examined. The collards taste like they were braised in pickle juice, not too pleasing. However, the Monkfish was great. Service was horrible this time (5/24/13) server #2 we never saw her again after we got our food. Waited 20 min after finishing my meal and had to ask another server for help. Even when we asked to have our server come to the table it took another 10 min. We wanted some dessert and none was never even offered. I was going to get some of the Asian wings to go. After the later indignity shown by server #2 (blonde in yellow top) I could not leave fast enough. This was my second time at Dot's and the first time everything was great. Don't be turned off by appearances. This is a local restaurant and it's wonderful! The menu is very extensive and there is something for everyone. The shark bite appetizer was so good, we order two more. Since eating here, we have checked every menu at every other restaurant for shark. We also ordered the nachos with chili. Such a simple dish that so many places screw up. Not here. The combination of chili and nacho toppings was perfect. My sirloin was simply cooked and delicious. The "fries" which are really potatoes, are crispy and yummy. My husband had the pecan crusted trout, which he said was cooked beautifully, you just have to like lemon to go for it. Wasn't impressed, visiting my mother who lives in the neighborhood. I came in for breakfast with my husband the first time. Both our omelettes were scorched and runny. Coffee was good, but the wait staff was indifferent, seem to only pay attention to the regulars. Thought they may have had an off day, so I came back a few days later for dinner.
