Had dinner here with a few friends before heading out to some live music. This place is an old and established location with indoor and outdoor parking. It is kind of a dive diner. Food was good and service was ok. I think we all had burgers and they were pretty good. Street parking only

The home fries are just as good as the down home service. This is my absolute favorite chill spot. Even when I don't want food, I can chill on the front patio or at the bar. The burgers are better than the burgers on Marshall and 27th. LOL (and that place is walking distance for me, I have to drive to Dot's)

Great place for a dinner with family. Prices are great and wide selection on the menu. We came the week of Thanksgiving and it was packed so service was understandably slow as it would be anywhere this time of year. We really enjoyed our meal here. Highly recommend.

What's not to love? I went to Dot's way back in the day and had to make a stop there right away when I moved back to RVA. Our food was great, service was attentive and prompt, prices are reasonable and the vibe is still super cool, even after all these years! Thanks for still being here Dot's!

Finally made it to Dot's Back Inn! Food's good, with a nice varies menu. The service was good, but boy o boy, is it loud! Parking can be tricky along MacArthur

Cocktail menu. Didn't have a lot to offer. I had the vodka limeade and didn't like it. Too sour with the fresh lime juice

I had a beyond burger and it was fine. The fries were average. My child had grilled cheese and fries nothing spectacular. The place is small and cluttered. It's cute but over packed. The waitress was nice and there was not a long wait for a Saturday afternoon. I would not come back though. Ever! There is no diversity. At all

Stopped here as it's a DDD! Food was ok. Dessert was better. I was puzzled by the receipt as it had a meals tax. Ive never heard of that, made the bill almost ten percent higher. Service was not the greatest either, I went the last half of my meal without a drink refill.

This place wasn't at all what we expected. We went because of seeing it on tv with Guy Fieri. I'll start with the one positive: The staff was extremely nice and attentive. That was the only thing we liked. Both mine and my husband's eggs were cold. The breakfast potatoes were cold. The corned beef hash wasn't at all like I have had anywhere else. It was more like two little burgers that tasted like meatloaf with green pepper. We really wanted to like this place but unfortunately all we liked were the people.

This one falls under the category of "how could I have gone THIS LONG without writing a review of this place?" Dot's Back Inn is a dining mainstay in the Bellevue area. The food is always good -- have never had anything I was disappointed by. Over the years I have had burgers, fish, fancy salads, great sandwiches, and awesome specials. As time goes on I will come back and update my write up to talk about other meals, but today I need to hit on a special one. RIGHT NOW THEY HAVE SOFT SHELL CRABS! AT LUNCH! This seasonal delicacy is only available for a few weeks or so each year. And a lot of restaurants go and ruin things by putting their own touch on these babies -- thai softshells, tex mex softshells, whatever. Such approaches completely ignore the beauty of simplicity -- buttermilk soaked, breaded, fried. Stick it on a sandwich, a benedict, or a fork. Dot's understands -- and boy are these things great. Delicately seasoned, good tartar sauce if you like, nice bread that doesn't fall apart under it. And generous tots or wedges... see the pics. Also on the table today was cajun red beans and rice with andouille. Also very good, but the spice level was too low to call it cajun. Still delish. Good service, lousy street parking (it's a busy area) and a real neighborhood vibe. Happy hour golden bevs are $2 for 10 oz draft, $3 domestics, $4 mixed.

Omelette was great, and home fries unusual and tasty. Pancakes were slightly burnt but overall good.

We waited in the indoor area that is connected to a cute store. The walls had graffiti. The waiting area had billiard table, playing cards, other merchandise like t-shirts and some other vintage items. The Moore Street Big Breakfast lives up to its name. It was indeed big: 3 eggs, sausage, bacon, hash browns and grits. It comes with your choice of 2 pancakes, toast, biscuit, or English muffin. The veggie omelet was also very nice. Great diner food and service.

The wait staff were nice and checked in with us throughout service. They were busy, and we did have to ask again for a couple things we asked for when we ordered. Seeing as they were busy, it was understandable. The parking can be difficult to find, but it's not too bad on most days. I ordered a swiss mushroom burger with onion rings on the side, a coke and a mexican mule. I liked the burger, especially the onion rings! I would probably ask for the mushrooms to be a little bit more caramelized though. Serving size was filling and the drink was perfectly strong. They have an extensive menu, and I would love to come back to try more dishes! The cafe decor is retro, and it makes the restaurant feel nostalgic. I think it's great for a group hang if you have a large group, too. There was a big group there when I was there and a few smaller groups of people.

While there is the standard fare you…read moreexpect, like brunch items and burgers, there are also a lot of unexpected items to delight the palate. As an example, they currently have several seasonal lobster dishes. I chose the Organic Bison Huevos Rancheros. Everyone wanted a bite, and everyone agreed it was delicious. It was tender ground bison, topped with a soft fried egg, feta, guacamole, black beans and more. It was so good. I would go back just for that, but there were more good things on the menu to try as well. All the staff were friendly, and our server did an excellent job. It was also clean, pleasant and busy but not uncomfortably so. We'll definitely be back when we're in town again.

A party of two ate well and was satisfied with the amount and quality of our meals. The first meal was steak and eggs. Without prompting I heard how well seasoned the flatiron steak was. The other meal was calf's liver with mushrooms and onions. Two large pieces of bacon was across the dish. It was very good served with a full orders of corn, potatoes and gravy, and veggies. I switched the mixed vegetables for spinach and garlic. Good choice. The spinach was fresh and sauteed with onions. Didn't care for the gravy on potatoes. Can't tell whether the off flavor was the gravy or the potatoes. My surprise was the appetizer. I chose turkey chilli that was so good. It was full body flavor with cooked beans and chopped veggies, which didn't take away from the chilli flavor. It was very good. I could have this for my main meal. So good. The server was adequate, but nothing exceptional.

Our entrees were equally as tasty. I ordered the salmon and it was done well! My only personal preference would be to swap the green beans for the collards next time--the green beans just weren't cooked quite the way I prefer. That said, everything else was really enjoyable. There is a huge empty booth right in the front across from the hostess stand, no one was sitting there, we asked if we could sit there for just a moment to cool off in the AC- we were rudely told no we had to wait outside. The next family in line included 2 elderly women and a baby all dressed gorgeous, they also were told they had to wait outside in 105 weather. After about 20 minutes of waiting, (I was just going to tell them to forget it) they said our table was ready. Well, instead of inside with AC as we requested we were seated in a gazebo porch area that they claimed had AC. By this time we were so desperate for cool, we didn't argue that we had requested INSIDE not whatever this room was. It ended up being like sitting in a tuna can. So uncomfortable, my husband and bro in law just went and sat in the car with the AC blasting. Waitress was sporadic to put it nicely. Meanwhile, back inside the booth across from the hostess stand was still empty. Food was fine. But I don't think this place will be around much longer.
