Courthouse Grill Friday 1 PM Goochland, Virginia Was in the neighborhood and was looking for somewhere to waste an hour and thought why not get something to eat. Found the spot went in and ordered a breakfast sandwich of egg cheese and country ham on a bun The cashier was very nice. The business was steady with people in and out. It seemed like lots of regular customers based on the cashier, knowing the people. The restaurant was very small. Could probably seat about 20. Family atmosphere and very clean. I love the bathroom and that it had comic strips taped to the wall how old school is that? Love it.! They also sold local honey, and a few other knickknacks like bird houses and what not. I did pick me up a jar of honey. As far as my sandwich, it just looked like a regular egg, ham & cheese sandwich, but it was very good! Like, VERY good! I would not only eat here again. The jury is in at Courthouse Market! Cool eatery in Goochland serves good food and offers local honey, French jams, and other food stuffs, along with some crafty items! We've been here for breakfast several times and the food is delish... my hubby got the Mediterranean omelette and he said he would definitely order it again. I chose the sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit. The biscuit was buttery and fluffy, but got a bit crumbly towards the middle of the meal. I loved that they had a nice choice of hot teas, and the coffee was fresh. They have counter service, so you order and then one of the staff will bring you your meal on a paper plate. You have to get your own coffee or drinks, plastic silverware, condiments etc., yet when you pay, the screen prompts you to leave 15% tip or more. Not crazy about that... how much harder would it be to go the distance and serve the customers more fully to earn a tip. Then you bus your own table. Ah well, that's the current trend at many "self-serve" restaurants. The tables are spread out so you don't feel like you're cramped which is comfy! Theres also a counter looking out to the road so you can watch with Goochland goings-on! There's light music in the background, and a pleasant atmosphere. Sad to see a place go so downhill There is no where to sit and if you order takeout it's an extraordinary amount of time to receive what was ordered ...then when it comes out it's not even correct. I believe the name is now Courthouse Market and Grill. From the photos of the interior, it appears to be the same restaurant. Nestled in town proper of Goochland this was quite the find for me. Open only for breakfast and lunch, you want to make a point to come here. Very friendly staff to take your order and answer any questions you may have. I ordered the Cuban Sandwich with French fries. The Cuban was a little smaller than your average, but packed with flavor into perfectly pressed bread. But, the fries - have mercy! Blistered and crunchy on the outside and soft on the outside and seasoned well. I normally don't finish fries with a meal, but I did this time. Good prices, casual and welcoming atmosphere. I stopped at this spot because I was in the area and needed breakfast. It was suggested on yelp, and since I was right by the courthouse, I decided to go. The lady working the cash register suggested the Steak Egg and Cheese. I ordered it on a biscuit. Let me tell you, this biscuit was LIFE CHANGING. Everything about it was perfect. The biscuit wasn't dry and just the right amount of flake. The egg was cooked perfectly. The steak was amazing, fresh and flavorful. I was working in the area and arrived in town about lunchtime. Nice local business. You order from the counter, and seat yourself as well as get your own beverage. The business also sells beer for off-premises use, and a small selection of local foods and gift items. I ordered the chicken parmigiana, which was served with spaghetti. The meal was available with minimal wait. Nice portion size. Really liked the sauce. Lots of time if you eat at a small local place you get some time out of the container sauce. This sauce tasted as if it was made on-premises. Most impressive was the friendly staff. They were polite and professional. The kitchen person gave a sincere "thank you for your business" as I left. I will certainly plan to dine here again if I am in the area. read more

I've been eating here regularly for nearly 3 years, and it used to be that the prices were so reasonable and the food generous and good. But it has dramatically changed in the last few months. Portions are nearly half what the used to be, and the prices have nearly doubled. I ordered a cold plate that used to be very generous in size and only cost about $6, but the now the portions are literally bite-size. Yes, one bite, and 1 of the 4 salads is done. And it now costs $10. I don't like leaving a bad review because it is such a nice family that runs it, but I think they need some help balancing their portions and prices. read more

Really really good food. Only problem is that this place does not even keep to its own posted hours of operation.. Probably should call ahead to see if they are open. If you are driving by and they are open, DEFINITELY worth it. However you should probably not hinge your plans on assuming they will be open. I love this place so much, I only wish they were open later in the day. They close at 4 PM which makes it hard to pick up dinner here. I would choose this place in preference to the other 2 pizza places in town for subs especially their steak sub. Their cakes and deserts are also wonderful, and I enjoy the retro "pure cane sugar" sodas that they sell. And they always serve a good sized portion , enough for leftovers. read more

Happened to find this place while out on a walk near tucker park. Best burger and fries I've had in a long time. Fries were perfectly crispy on the outside and tender inside. Burger was simple but knew what it was doing. As a Californian i miss in n out and this doesn't taste similar but they do a satisfying burger and fries. Probably the worst restaurant you could go to in Goochland. Would not recommend at all. I orders at 12:58 and the food was still not ready by 1:45. When I simply asked how much longer it would be, the chef replied "If you got places to go, that's too bad. You can wait." I'm not one to write a review but also have never had a restaurant be SO rude and act like they're better than their customers. I left highly disappointed and upset. They did not offer anything for the over hour wait but just very ugly comments. (However, this was all the chef, the lady working the counter with the baby was extremely sweet.) read more

At this point, I have probably had about half the menu items. Great food, and large portions - always have leftovers. I love that Courthouse allows all the local vendors to place their wares inside for sale - from local honey and jam to jewelry. There are just a few small tables, so I find it is usually better to get takeout. They get very busy around lunchtime, so be sure to call in your order early so it will be ready for pickup. Although they close at 8 p.m., they usually shut down the grill around 7:30, so plan accordingly. read more

I liked this place. I took a picture of the sign as it states that they serve food AND minnows. How cool. The menu is pretty extensive and you can pretty much get anything you want. I noticed that you can buy candy cigarettes at the counter which brought me back to the days of being 8 years old and thinking there was nothing wrong with me puffing my life away on sticks of gum made to look like cancer stick. The chicken salad sandwich was a solid choice, Route 11 chips are served with, which is one of my favorite brands. Great place to stop for lunch if you're around. I'll be back. read more

Everyone is really nice, especially the cook who always says hello or good bye when I'm there. I've only ever ordered the chicken salad sandwich because it's my favorite, and the fries. Both are amazing, so good! No idea what's on the fries, but they're addictive! All their other food looks amazing, and one day I'll try other stuff. Super clean and quick with food. read more

Just ask the locals and they will tell you that this little place rocks! Their food is great! I am partial to the Stromboli, White Pizza and Philly Chicken sub with extra grilled mushrooms. A great place... If you are driving through Goochland on Rt. 6, you should stop in. This is a true Market style establishment. You can pick up a beverage's "Cheer Wine" sodas, sandwiches to go, or eat in. Very friendly and family oriented. If you are looking for a place to bring the kids, to expose them to the kind of treats you enjoyed as a kid, like moon pies, candy necklaces, wax lips (lol), any many more items that will put a smile on your face, and say, I remember that!!!
