I have been coming here for lunch and cupcakes for awhile now. I'm not a big cupcake person, I tend to find them dry. Dots cupcakes are moist and SO full of flavor. Fleur de Sel, carrot cake (soo moist, delicious and perfect kiss of carrot), chocolate mint, cookies and cream ... I can go on and list them all. They are all really good!! The flavors are spot on. Don't forget to check their Daily Specials!! Then there's their food - from sandwiches to salads to their breakfast sandwich, they are all done with utmost care and complete attention to flavor. Online ordering is SUPER easy. Pick up is even easier and they truly care for their customers. Lattes made so when I arrived for pick up, they were nice and warm and YUMMY!!! Cupcakes were very bad. My daughter could not even eat hers, she said it tasted really bad. The cupcakes tasted like someone who was barely learning how to Make cupcakes. Very dense and no flavor. The frosting was very thick and had a funky taste. I remember eating a dots cupcake many years ago at a different location, and it was really good. I was wrong. The day I picked up the cake (two days after I preordered it) I noticed it was hard, frozen hard. So after almost two hours when we decided to eat the cake, first bite was very dry and freezer burn like taste. I decided to take another bite which I thought it was my imagination but it was same. Since then i've found my self driving to pasadena just for cupcakes. Amazing place for cupcakes and now food too. I had to try some of they're good sounding food... we had the BLAT sandwich w/fries and orange passion fruit tea.. my son was going for the cupcakes (which we did get but from the fair oaks location) and he tried the chocolate chip cookie and the plain butter croissant he loved them so much that he ate them in the car! Our BLAT was a delicious hearty sandwich very well served.. Packed with avocado and delicious turkey and crunchy thick sliced bacon. So delicious!!!! This is my favorite go to for cupcakes. I ended up driving to the fairoaks location to get us a regular dozen and 3 mini's for the car ride back home. My favorite's are the Black forest, the blueberry cheesecake and the passion fruit. The daily flavors are also a hit all the time you could never go wrong with the red velvet and the chocolate mint. I'm torn writing this review because this is by far the cutest little cafe I've ever been to. The owner clearly took the time to create a visually appealing aesthetic & you'll definitely get a few Instagram/Snapchat worthy shots in here. We ordered the Chipotle Chicken Sandwich & the Tuna Melt. We sat down & waited for 30+ minutes, noticing that no one around us was receiving their food. Drinks were being called, but absolutely no meals were coming out & we were starving. We complained 2-3 times before we finally got our order, but the food was unfortunately disappointing as well. The Chipotle Chicken Sandwich was way too dry, they need to try mixing more sauce in it or something. The bread was also really tough & hard to chew.. Ironic because the sign at the front claims they bake it fresh. The Tuna Melt was okay. Overall, service was friendly but VERY slow (don't go if you're really hungry) & the food was meh. Hosted a bridal shower here for my friend. Venue is super cute! Love the ambiance with the floral wall and the huge windows. The only issue here is that after a while, it starts to get really hot (probably also due to the large windows). I mainly communicated through Diana who was very responsive and accommodating to our needs. Although some policies were a bit confusing and unclear through email, I was glad to see that service was super attentive when we were there. Diana made sure that everything was taken care of and was super helpful throughout the event. Would definitely host another event here if needed! :) read more

It took a pandemic for me to realize how charmed we are to have such a marvelous restaurant situated in East Pasadena! Their rotating menu is absolutely manicured to perfection. On this evening, we had their Chicken Pot Pie Family Meal, and what a treat it was! The chicken was extremely tender and the broth and vegetables complementing the chicken was delicious. It came with a flavorful Caesar salad and a yummy Cinnamon Apple dessert. Dots is certainly worth a visit, and since their menu changes everyday, I'd recommend checking it before you go. Cupcakes here are okay. One thing that prevents me from coming to this location more and ordering catering from them for my company is the rudeness of the staff there. Every time I go, the staff there are really unfriendly, have poor customer service and seem like they don't want to be there. I've given this business multiple chances and have even ordered hundreds of dollars of gift cards from there but still have the same experience. This place really is a failure of a small business and the price is way too much for the cupcakes. It's too sweet and the customer service is horrible. The cupcakes are the literal size of a mini cupcake and even the coffee tastes like it was scraped off the coffee grinder. Don't even try the food, go to a better actual breakfast place. The ambiance is whatever but you can definitely hear the staff have conversations loudly about inappropriate stuff. The owner is honestly rude and the staff also must get it from her because I can feel the attitude and the bad behavior especially with the face. I can tell everyone right now that this place is dull. There's so much better places out there with better outstanding service and more friendlier staff for sure. My most recently purchase from them was for a retirement party at work. I placed my order over the phone, if was super easy and simple. The person who helped me answered all my questions. I purchased 5 dozens mini carrot cake cupcakes and they was a big hit at the party! Their carrot cake cupcake is so moist, soft and delicious. I love that you can see the actual carrot pieces, it's not over processed. Customer service for this place is good, very friendly and nice. They are also very quick with helping you. The few times I been, they were never packed, I been right when they opened, during lunch and after lunch. They have a wide selection of cupcake flavors, and a lot of cupcakes available, it is clear that there will be not be any cupcake shortage. Cute cafe that specializes in cupcakes - which is mainly what this review is for We haven't had their food before, but have tried a variety of their cupcakes and recently got a Vietnamese coffee that was just so-so. But the cupcakes - yum! Decent prices too. We got a dozen minis so we could try a bunch of flavors - it comes in a cute box, 5 stars for packaging. Their chocolate cake base is quite moist and was in quite a few of the ones we got. They rotate the flavor menu every couple of days which is nice though I wanted to try the lemon one which wasn't available on that day. I was underwhelmed a little by the subtle strawberry flavor in their strawberry one but it was a good cake. And the tiramisu cake was a little more dense than the other ones we tried (but the frosting was a good non-American buttercream that was not too sweet). Each cake is decorated well with good variety (a piped frosted carrot on the carrot cake, drizzle of dulce del leche, chocolate curls, etc.) The space itself is very Instrgrammable with a balloon arch for the holidays when we visited and lots of cute decor if that's your thing. A really great concept from the makers of some really great cupcakes. Dots Cafe (which is, yes, the same as the cupcake shop) is an airy/cheerful spot that serves up food in addition to their famous sweets. For starters I tried the cinnamon bun and the pumpkin scone. Both were really good (had them both warmed up). The cinnamon roll in particular stood out. The frosting on it was reallllly nice and sweet. Perfect for me! To drink I had a spiced chai latte (bc it's fall, obviously). It was very nice and not overly spiced (didn't taste artificial). For food, I tried the breakfast burrito. I will say it is on the eggy side, so if you're not too big on eggs you can probably ask them to add more of the other stuff, but I didn't mind it (it was definitely filling). They also served it with a nice sauce (kinda like a mild salsa). Overall I really liked this place. I think the only downside was that they were a bit understaffed so it did take a while for things to come out, but the staff was very nice so I think they just need to get into a good flow (as I think this place is still somewhat new). Phenomenal is how I would describe the overall experience here! Everytime I come in I'm greeted with a smile and they are always willing to take my order despite me calling in for just.... one drink. Honestly my excuse is that I always leave for work later then I usually should but they are always willing to handle my order despite it being possibly annoying. Trust me in customer service it's annoying to place a phone order for one small item. I always buy drinks is from this place. What I normally get is the Coffee Latte or Vietnamese Coffee. Both are pretty good but the Vietnamese Coffee needs more oomph to it tbh. However I do not mind ordering it! Overall, I really love going here to get my drinks.
