Breakfast all day. Bathrooms clean with soap and paper towels. Friendly staff. Soups just warm but everything else nice and hot. Plain, no frills diner interior. After leaving a poor review about 10 days ago I'd like to say my fiancé and I have made a return trip to Dots. One thing I've learned is that the best time to go is after the shift change, when night shift comes in. Jody and Niblett are the best. Our most recent visit was 100X better than the last one. Niblett is very consistent with the quality of food. He always remembers what we want to order, but always doubles checks first because he knows I change it up on a rare occasion. We always get a greeting from Jody and Niblett the minute we walk in. They make us feel very welcome, almost like we're having dinner at their homes. Jody is the best waitress ever. She's friendly, very attentive, and 100 % personable with all of costumers. Jody and Niblett were there when my fiancé proposed to me in Dot's (because Dot's is where we met). I'll never 100% give up on Dot's but I do believe the majority of my visits will be late at night with my soon to be husband and the best team ever: Jody and Niblett! read more

We wanted to eat more local than just a chain so we stopped in Dots. We shouldn't have. I'm not going to blast them but... The service was nice but incredibly slow and they messed up our order twice. I should say, they made them right. The hash browns we're good which was why the two stars. The omelet was crispy, not good. The worst thing was the watery coffee. I can go into more detail but it will just be nit picking mediocre dinner food. read more

It's a Dot's Diner. There isn't much to say. They are all dirty kitchens, but the staff is great, and it's me and my daughter's guilty pleasure. It's an upper management issue that keeps the kitchen too small, leaving no room for their equipment, which leads to a nasty kitchen. Man, I want to love Dot's SO HARD but I just can't. My mom is straight-up In Love with this place, and so is my sister, and her guy.... they seriously go eat here constantly whenever sis is in town. Unfortunately, I have yet to find anything other than the bacon and orange juice which doesn't gross me out. In my experience: the little burgers are way overdone (and I like mine well done), the fries aren't great, the hash browns are greasy and mushy and blah, the eggs are meh, the waffles are undercooked and doughy, blueberries and strawberries on top are frozen-then-microwaved-and-slightly-hot... which isn't a sin in itself, but it's somehow gross and I didn't even want to finish the fruit. That says a lot because up until this point I hadn't met fruit I wouldn't eat. How do you mess up strawberries and blueberries?? I know it's a diner, and trust me-- I'm not judging this place against brunch with mimosas and crème brulee at Palace Café or anything. But greasy spoon should at least be so-good-in-a-so-bad-for-you kinda way, and so far Dot's has fallen short of the mark for me. I've been there several times and haven't once had a meal that made me go "yum!"... and I always smell like grease and yuck when I leave (insult to injury). I'm sure I'll end up going back because it starts feeling like rude and no-love turning down the constant invites from the family for breakfast, and hopefully one day I'll stumble upon the One Thing On The Menu that does it for me. Until then? I'll be headed down the road to IHOP if I have a choice in the matter. :) read more

This is one of my regular stops when I'm in the area. As always, service and food were great. My only complaint was that the place was VERY busy and it took close to a half hour before my friend and I got our food, but like I said, the place was VERY busy. I found myself at Dot's in Luling when my car broke down on the side of the road nearby. I called AAA and proceeded to Dot's for a bite to eat while I expected to wait ninety minutes for the tow truck to arrive. Well, ninety minutes turned into a four hour wait. The entire staff couldn't have been nicer or more hospitable to me during what seemed to be an eternity. They even found me a phone charger because my battery was running low. Many thanks to these kind people. My breakfast was very tasty and promptly served to me. I've never had so much coffee at one meal. So, if you're hungry or broken down on the side of the road, there is no better refuge than Dot's Diner in Luling! read more

The employees were very friendly and had a great sense of humor. The menu was straight forward diner fair with some very pleasant surpsises, my favorite of which was the crawfish bread. One of my favorite parts of eating here is watching the cook prepare all the meals. Monday's is my favorite day because of the "Red beans and Rice" I saw and order go out with a pork chop. They say "you are always at home at Dots" -maybe at home at your mother in law. I had a very bad experience at Dots. The place looks very outdated. We got the worst place after long time not be recognized by the employees. Waiting for food was extraordinary long. The French toast was very black. Nice little place located next to the Best Western Hotel I was staying at - friendly staff who go the distance to please you - I do not eat pork and the young lady who served me tried really hard to get a substitute dish for me, to make up for some bacon bits that were in a dish I ordered. I wanted to try something different so I decided to get the Breakfast burger. Great choice it came with 6oz patty, 2 slices of crispy bacon, golden hash brown, and a fried egg ( I kept it healthy and had a scrambled egg whites lol) on a fresh bun. My husband and I enjoy eating at Dot's several times a week. Before he retired, we would met there every day for lunch. For breakfast, the Creole Queen can't be beat. Lunchtime, give me the Grilled Chicken Chef Salad. Dinner, I like to go a little lighter, so I opt for a Grilled Cheese on Wheat with Shrimp and Corn Soup. The staff is wonderful. One of the best places to eat in luling! I usually come during the overnight shift cause Casey always makes my food really delicious and really pretty. The foods always good when i come but plate presentation is important too!
