I love to try a new family-run business and I especially love it when I write the 1st Yelp review!…read moreThese nice folks have been open for about two months and clearly there are some things to fix, or the competition is going to eat their lunch. We'll see if they are up to the challenge! Arriving- They are on Main Street (Scenic Hwy) in teeny tiny Frostproof, and they have no parking lot! Street parking is limited. That's challenge #1. Ambiance- It looks like a converted gas station. Restrooms are outside. There are picnic tables out front. Inside is nice and clean with well-spaced tables. Customer Service- No problems! I didn't ask but I believe I was chatting with the husband-and-wife owners and service was just fine! Adult Libations- They are dry and serve Coke products. When I asked for a Diet Coke, nope! What I really would have liked was a beer! Food- No menus yet, not even on a chalkboard! After two months that's unacceptable! The meats available today were ribs, chicken legs and wings. No pulled pork, sausage, or brisket. Meat variety is challenge #2. I ordered a Rib Platter that came with two sides and a bottle of Coke. The pre-tip tab was just under $20. The three ribs were great with lots of meat and the sauce was spot on. The sides were just there, and I have nothing to say about them which is challenge #3. I was also surprised no bread product was offered. If I'm gonna pay $20 for lunch, I expect a small piece of cornbread or maybe a slice or two of Texas toast but there was nothing. Let's call that #4. I think they have potential, and the ribs were great so I'm going three-stars. Let's see if they can step up their game and I'll return in a couple of months.

It's been a couple of years since I last reviewed them. Let's see how they handled lunch today. Ratings- Almost 300 reviews from the two big review sites with an average of 4.6! That's damn fine! Arriving- Off the beaten track a couple of miles off US Route 27. Let your GPS do its thing. Limited parking but it works, Ambience- Teeny, tiny neat & clean place. A tiny patio. Three picnic tables near the front door. Seating inside for maybe 10 and a small patio. There is a counter for ordering and paying. The menu is on the wall, and I have posted a picture including prices. Customer Service- I've never had a problem on many visits. You order. You pay. You get a smile. Five minutes later it comes out, and you get another smile. Simple and painless. Food- For this meal I ordered a Brisket Platter. My doctor said my cholesterol was a little low, so my sides were fries and corn nuggets. The brisket is pictured before I added their homemade mustard sauce. It was a solid no frills lunch. Crispy sides and savory, lean meat. At 11:15 on a Wednesday there were a dozen folks ordering so they must be doing something right. Conclusion- If you are blowing through the middle of Highlands County and craving some Q for a quick lunch, this would satisfy!

I set me in car and waited until 2:30 pm I paid for my Slab of ribs ($33.00) with sauce on the side and a large potatoe salad ($8.00). My husband also wanted a cup of peach cobbler which is so good. The ribs was so tender omg! I was so satisfied. The owner and his wife are so nice their customer service is amazing. We go there so much tell she remembers us. They are located next to a fruit stand and we always purchase items there. Not sure what the name of it. The location is easy to locate also across from racetrac gas station. They only take cash! I did not take a picture of the slab of ribs because my family tore it up. It is a must to pay them a visit.

We stopped for lunch around 2:00 on a Friday afternoon and they were out of pulled pork and bbq chicken. So I had to settle for the rib sandwich. Which was delicious by the way. The sides were Mac and cheese, Cole slaw, baked beans etc. I had the Mac and cheese and it was delicious! Cheesy creamy goodness and the pasta was not over cooked. The small size was a 12 ounce styrofoam cup so plenty for 2 people. The only reason I did not give 5 stars was because they were out of 2 of their main meats. This is definitely tops for bbq.

So as we ordered our food, we ordered onion rings also. We ordered a Garlic Burger with Waffle Fries and a drink ($13.99), a Brake Burger with Waffle fries and a drink ($13.99) and a Smash Burger adding bacon with waffle fries and a drink ($15.20) an order of onion rings ($5.99). The onion rings have the potential to be amazing as they appear to be thin cut and battered in house. The only draw back with the onion rings, fries and burger is that they seem to be a bit heavy on the salt. I could not finish my fries and only ate a few onion rings. The restaurant is in a former "Filling Station," or gas station if you prefer. You are sitting in the garage as you eat your food, although the garage doors are closed and the restaurant is air conditioned. There are art prints of vehicles on the walls along with car manufacturer signs and hubcaps. I like this place and will love it with less salt. The staff is nice and helpful in answering questions about the menu. I can recommend this restaurant if you are in the area.

Walkable at only about 0.2 miles and they have all the groceries you need. It is the biggest grocery store in Grace Bay. Fruit and dairy products are very expensive in Turks and Caicos. For example grapefruit cost over $3 each, individual yogurt servings were over $3. They also have different prepared food each day. They also have a coffee shop, salad bar, and a deli. The food here was very reasonably priced and many locals ate lunch there. For breakfast they have the normal eggs, french toast, breakfast meat, etc. For lunch there is a menu that changes everyday (see photo). The first day we got BBQ ribs, Mac and cheese, and a spinach empanada. All of which were great. Next day we got pork chops, tuna salad, and a baked potato. The empanadas were different from the yellow Mexican type ones you get a most places. The crust was flakier but really good. They had some mini quail empanadas that were good. PRO TIP (Like my friend Winnie L): If you choose something like empanadas, seared salmon which are not hot, you can ask the staff to heat it up when you order. The salmon was simple but excellent. My favorites were the BBQ meatloaf and curry chicken salad. Baked mac and cheese was a great side Definitely a convenient lunch option. If you drive they have a good sized parking lot. The deli makes sandwiches to order and they have a good selection (see photos). We ate lunch at this place every day we were in Turks and Caicos. We did not have a single bad meal.

Great service for being so busy. First off, my all time favorite beer on draft! Michelob Amberbock!! Of course chilled mug! Ordered raw oysters, delicious. Then shared the fisherman's platter. Awful! We live in the area and come often.. we sat at 7.. took 20 minutes for server to even get to…read morethe table.. we received our food at 9! That's right 9! We ordered 3 burgers (2 med, 1 well done, the well done being for a child) and 2 tunas.. all 3 burgers came out wrong (wrong temp and wrong toppings, one burger had wire brushing in it, which owner argued, saying there's no way) tuna was ice cold, and not seared cold, like fridge cold (which again owner argued saying there's is no way) . Server was great and apologized over and over ( which she should not be apologizing she's not the one in the kitchen) owner (female) finally came to the table, asked us how our dinner was. When we expressed how it was, she began to argue with us, saying there is no way that things were wrong. At one point addressing the server as if she was the one who made our food. At this point, we had enough and knew it was not going anywhere! The owner did take off 1 burger and 1 tuna.. which was appreciated. After being talked down too, we all expressed at the table, that we would rather just pay our bill and leave! Not one time were we rude, disrespectful or mean in any way to be spoken to the way she spoke to us. Absolutely wild experience! We truly love this place.. but this has definitely set a tone. Edit... Her response says it all! Facial expressions were because we were absolutely appalled at the fact that she was arguing about our experience! While ahi tuna is supposed to have a cool center the fish was ICE COLD.. FRIDGE TEMP FROM TOP TO CENTER! When asked to take it back to heat it.. it was microwaved.. which then turned it gray.. but once returned that pink center was cool, not FRIDGE COLD! The wire brush was in the burger.. she argued with us stating it was a hair from the onion(which burger was supposed to have no onion) .. even though you could perfectly see it was a copper wire of some sort! Mind you it was found at the end of the burger. The reason we didn't take the offer of new food, is because we were done.. 2 hours to get our food, and they waited till the absolute end, to approach our table! By that point we had eaten what we could and she was speaking to us by this point like we were awful people.. WHY WOULD WE STAY ANOTHER HOUR! Especially after being talked to like she was! We couldn't get a word in! So as you can tell about her response from here, you can only imagine her response in real time!!! Horrible display of an owner!
